TTC after recurrent miscarriage

Hi, just wondering if anyone else was in a similar place to me and wanted to chat about it? I'm 30, TTC my first and have had three miscarriages, all early (two natural MCs at five weeks, then a MMC where a scan at 6+5 revealed development had again stopped at 5 weeks). I've had RMC tests and am just waiting on the results of that but hoping to be able to TTC again from my next period, which should come any day now. I've found throughout the whole thing (have been TTC just over a year now) that it's really helped me to chat with people in similar positions, so if anyone wants to be TTC buddies please let me know!

Hi all. Hope you had good christmasses.

Anne sorry about the BFN. When are you and DH heading off for your new year's get away?

Congrats on the BFP kirin. I hope this is a sticky one for you.

Christmas has been a reasonable distraction thankfully. Hopefully should be 6 weeks today. Have had a cold and also slept terribly since we've been away so not sure what's been pregnancy tiredness or the other really. Desperately hoping for some nausea soon.

beanhunter · 28/12/2017 08:34

Cautious congratulations kirinm.
Sorry about the sore boobs and bfn Anne.
Thanks for the welcome ladies. Coming to the end of the period from hell after coming off norethisterone. Not sure if you o the month after or not so I guess I’ll have to dig out the dreaded opks.
Actually not dtd for over 2 months Blush as the meds made me feel so vile and I couldn’t see he poing if there was no way I could conceive anyway!

LisaSimpsonsbff · 28/12/2017 07:58

I'm really sorry anne. I know you tend to get later positives, so I'm hoping for you you're not out, but I understand that sometimes it's easier just to think 'well, that's that for this month'.

I still hate poas but at 12dpo and with gargantuan painful boobs and a temp rise I gave it a go this morning and got a bfn on a frer so suspect af will show and the boob pmt is down to something else.

Congratulations kirinm. It’s always an anxious time but I hope you have a healthy easy pregnancy.

kirinm · 27/12/2017 13:46

Thank you Bertie. Kind of shitting myself to be honest. It has been 3 years since my last pregnancy where I miscarried at 12 weeks. The aim is to stay positive or at least try. I half think I should just say screw it and believe it's going to be okay but I already have that anxiety at the back of my mind.

BertieBotts · 27/12/2017 13:42

Ah kirin, congrats!

BertieBotts · 27/12/2017 13:42

Oh good to know, Lisa, as we're supposed to paint this apartment before we move out! Doh!

kirinm · 27/12/2017 13:21

I've just got my bfp. I think I have some slight spotting so trying not to get too excited. I think I'm going to have to call the recurrent miscarriage clinic and hope they will start me on the progesterone / steroid programme. Has anyone else been on it?

LisaSimpsonsbff · 27/12/2017 11:47

Turns out no we are NOT redecorating - DH was just like 'so you can definitely be around paint fumes?', we googled it to make sure and turns out NHS advises no painting in first trimester! Lucky we did that as I'd have been a proper panicking mess if I'd discovered that after doing that, even though they say it's a very small risk.

Belated merry Christmas! We had a good one - just DH and I for a quiet, relaxed Christmas Day and then both sides round (DH is an only child so just his parents) for a big Boxing Day 'lunch' (that lasted until 8pm!) yesterday. For the next couple of days we're redecorating our bedroom - we've lived here two years and have been looking at the previous owners' hideous feature wall every morning!

Fingers crossed for you both, Anne and haffertee. How are you feeling?

Welcome bean - I'm so sorry for your losses and hope you find this a supportive place to chat.

Also welcome to bean!

Haffertee4 · 27/12/2017 08:39

Hey everyone, Christmas was good thank you. We spent most of it with friends and my parents. Feel pretty relaxed and upbeat, going to the panto today. Mostly drank a lot of gin and didn't cry for the whole period.
My period did a weird stop start thing at the end and was knackered so only managed to start dtd 2 days after it was finished which my (free and rubbish) app tells me was part of my fertile week but think it's unlikely I ovulated then. Cm was better around Christmas Day and have dtd every other day since 2 days after af. 2ww begins I think I'm in with a good chance.

AnneLovesGilbert · 26/12/2017 21:31

Everyone survive Christmas in one piece?

I'm shattered but it's been good!

Between us DH and I have cooked, cleaned, made drinks, fed people for days on end.

My boobs are killing me but so far so usual pre AF, though I reckon they might be a bit worse. CD 22, 11DPO as I ovulated early. Not tempted to POAS as the idea still makes me ragey.

di626 · 24/12/2017 20:16

@beanhunter you poor thing ... its so awful & such a grief that everyone who hasnt been through it underestimates 😪, i feel for you i really do 💗😘😘

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 24/12/2017 20:01

Oh jesus beanhunter that must be horrible. You can't win either way, but it must be horrible to not have a reason as to why it happened.

beanhunter · 24/12/2017 19:30

Yep. Been to rmc. All test clear and the last baby was a genetically normal girl so that was an extra blow. Whilst obviously I don’t want the tests to have shown a problem not knowing why it failed just makes it feel more like it’s my fault. All the pregnancies and mc have been spontaneous and emotionally I’m not ready for more treatment so we are just trying for now. The pregnancy that ended in the mmc was spontaneous and 2 weeks before we were due to start ivf. I also had full blown hyperemesis so that felt extra cruel. I just feel so lost.

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 24/12/2017 16:22

@AnneLovesGilbert I hope so too. Still completely clear so god knows what's going on! Part of my mind is thinking oh implantation bleeding, but the crazy odds of that matching up exactly after just 2 weeks since The d&c is next to none Grin Stupid hopeful brain!

AnneLovesGilbert · 24/12/2017 16:07

That sucks unicorns, so weird when a bfn is a good thing! I really felt for you. Hope af shows up soon as a sign things are settling for you Flowers

Absolutely bean, so very sorry for your losses and everything else you’ve been through. After 3 losses have you been referred for any tests? I’m under a recurrent miscarriage clinic and had a battery of tests after my third which were clear. So annoying they haven’t found anything wrong they can fix, but also sort of reassuring in a way.

Mmc is such a horrific experience, I felt so cheated as someone who usually reads my symptoms and body so well and I had no idea anything was wrong.

Are you ttc with ivf next or seeing how it goes without?

You’re among friends, please feel free to chat about anything at all here.

beanhunter · 24/12/2017 14:08

Hey. Room for 1 more?
Ttc #2 for 3.5 years
Most recent mmc at 12/40 in August. 2 previous other mc,2 failed ivfs, a cancer scare and some other fun and games.

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 24/12/2017 13:59

I'm sat here trying to decifer whether 1st AF has arrived or not. Took a test this morning which was a faint positive (but still definitely there), had darker tests earlier in the week. But went to the bathroom and there's nothing Hmm What a minefield.

keeponrunning85 · 23/12/2017 17:13

Hi all. I hope everyone is enjoying their Christmas prep. We drove down to my parents today and will be seeing my sisters and their families tomorrow which will be good.

Not much to report here. Just desperately trying and largely failing to manage my anxiety. I ate a burger that was a touch pink in parts the other night so then spent the next 24 hrs convinced I was going to have got toxoplasmosis. Apparently it doesn't show up in a blood test for 3 weeks so not much I can do about it anyway. I've got a scan booked for the 11th Jan when I'll be 8 weeks hopefully. The last 2 times I've had a scan with a heartbeat at 6 weeks and then gone back at 8 to find it had stopped so decided to hold out a bit longer this time.

Anne I do hope you get your BFP soon, and everyone else who is waiting.

Eastend2015 · 23/12/2017 16:16

Hi all I hope you are doing well. Not sure if I’ve said congratulations Bertie, everything crossed for you!

We have had a good week- DH forced me to work from home most of the time so am feeling a lot more rested. We went to see the GP and she was very supportive and referred us to the recurrent miscarriage clinic. Then I had to do a follow up pregnancy test yesterday and it was still faintly positive, so the EPU wanted me back in today. Luckily though their test said negative though and blood tests confirmed an hcg of 2 so I’ve been discharged, wooo! DH and I DTD to celebrate Grin

AnneLovesGilbert · 23/12/2017 16:10

Blimey lisa, that’s a feat on endurance! Hope you had fun.

Hope you got him moving foxtrot, we’ve been tackling the bomb site that is our festive home so we can do nothing but food prep tomorrow.

Chart is all over the shop! Enlightening as a puddle of mud. Trying to just forget about it but god I’m desperate to be pregnant. I’d have sober Christmasses every year for the rest of my life if I could have a bfp this cycle.
