TTC after recurrent miscarriage

Hi, just wondering if anyone else was in a similar place to me and wanted to chat about it? I'm 30, TTC my first and have had three miscarriages, all early (two natural MCs at five weeks, then a MMC where a scan at 6+5 revealed development had again stopped at 5 weeks). I've had RMC tests and am just waiting on the results of that but hoping to be able to TTC again from my next period, which should come any day now. I've found throughout the whole thing (have been TTC just over a year now) that it's really helped me to chat with people in similar positions, so if anyone wants to be TTC buddies please let me know!

I am sure it didn't. I'm sorry I wasn't trying to make an assumption based on your circumstances, I personally believe such high consumption contributed to the problems I faced. (Of course I cannot be sure). I'm sorry if my comment seemed inappropriate or judgemental. I wish you all the best. I understand how hard it can be. X x x

AnneLovesGilbert · 27/10/2017 18:46

Awesome, thank you so much scary. I'll have a look! It's been very jaggedy and I'd usually agree about the mad rise today. Had more stabbing midday and very creamy cm. Hmmm.

Right moonshine.... I don't think my one cup of real coffee a day is causing my babies to die. Given what everyone on this thread has been through we're all pretty good at looking after ourselves and too much caffeine causing miscarriages is up there with cat litter, not being positive enough and doing too much exercise.

Moonshine86 · 27/10/2017 18:28

Hi,

I'm sorry for what you have been through.

I gave also had multiple mc. I am fortunate to have two dc.

I believe caffeine played a part in my mc x

ScaryDuck · 27/10/2017 18:25

Yes, Anne through temps. That is my main take away from TCOYF, it's all about the temps! Doesn't matter what else goes on, the thermometer doesn't lie. Well, unless it's broken of course Grin. I have been known to buy a new thermometer or two when my temps weren't doing what I expected...
Just checked The Book to make sure i'm not talking rubbish about your body gearing up to ovulate and then just not doing it - it's on page 372 about 'false starts', although it is about longer cycles think it's still relevant. The ewcm is meant to be there before ovulation so it makes sense you'd get it even if you didn't eventually ovulate.
Your temp rise today looks like ovulation though?

AnneLovesGilbert · 27/10/2017 14:54

Scary, forgot to ask how you confirmed ovulation that weird cycle, was it through temping?

I do wonder what the point of ewcm is if it's not when you're ovulating. Science isn't my strong suit but it doesn't make any sense.

Have a good night Lisa Grin

LisaSimpsonsbff · 27/10/2017 12:08

Yes, they've been at normal post-ov level, but got a static smiley this morning - will be interesting to see what happens to temps, whether they go even higher! I am obviously a hot thing this cycle! However, pleased that ov is a few days early because a cycle that goes faster is always good, but worrying that we haven't had enough sex. Will have to jump on DH tonight!

Missed some messages! Thanks Scary, that's helpful to know. I LOVED it! Got it second hand off amazon I think.

Devoured it in a night (skipping over how to use it for natural contraception as that's not where I'm at right now!) and few things have ever made more sense to me. Yes a lot of it is online but having the logic in one place and explained in her calm, funny, warm tone, was so valuable. Can't recommend it enough.

AnneLovesGilbert · 27/10/2017 10:51

Good luck with them Foxtrot and have a lovely stay.

Attaching my chart. Massive spike today but I dozed off and on for a bit before doing it, was all a bit chaotic this morning! I'm 99% sure about trusting my body and my symptoms this time, but my temp has gone down since then, which just isn't possible! I'm not really stressing about it, but it feels like it's been over for a couple of days, cm is sticky and no more twinges or stabs.

Nothing like TTC for pure glamour Grin I don't usually bother with legs up after but every now and then I do it and usually end up in stitches at the daftness of it all.

Interesting thoughts on progesterone. Have yours been so high you can't see them getting higher? I seem to get a huge difference post ov. Apart from the month where I went from panicking I was broken, to then being magically 6DPO.....

Anne I had the exact same thing once, including really dark OPK which went blank the next day (i.e. as if ovulation had happened) but my temps didn't budge. I then ovulated about 5 days later with no signs or symptoms at all. Apparently sometimes your body can gear up for ovulation but for whatever reason it just doesn't happen.

Does anyone else have Taking Charge of Your Fertility? I put off buying it for ages thinking everything is on the internet anyway but it is really helpful for stuff like this.

Fox good luck with the CB!

LisaSimpsonsbff · 26/10/2017 23:26

It's down a bit today, Anne, so I think I am still to ovulate - I wonder if my progesterone (and so temps) was still a bit high at the start of my cycle because I took it last cycle? I hope it doesn't delay ov if so - I already mildly resent my 33 day cycles! Sorry that you're also confused, it's so frustrating. Are you sure that your temps don't show you've ovulated? Could it be that cross hairs still aren't showing yet?

Foxtrot I use the CB ones - they do cost a fortune, but I just know I'd never actually take the cheap ones because they have to be done in the afternoon. FYI, you can wee directly on the CB ones (I don't, but I never do pregnancy tests either), unlike the cheap ones, in case that makes packing for the weekend easier! I did it once on a hen weekend (oh the glamour) and it worked fine.

Big congrats on becoming an auntie Lisa, I'm really pleased and relieved it hasn't been too rough for you. Very good about the due date too.

Maybe it's an ovulate early month! Do you feel like it's happened? As in, your symptoms have matched up with your temps? Sounds good, always a bonus to have a shorter cycle!

I've had sort of the opposite where my stabbing pain matched up exactly with my ewcm, it was pretty much pouring out of me for a day, never know anything like it, and a teeny tiny spots of blood in it twice as well, I would bet the house on having ovulated. But my temps say no Confused FF predicts Saturday but I can feel like it's passed, and I've never been more sure of what my body as up to.

What does it all mean? I'm mentally stamping my foot.

Ha ha! Sure you will Foxtrot. Have you done it before? Apart from first wee of the day I don't think I'd cope with OPKs as I average a wee an hour during the day and everyone says you should wait a couple of hours before doing it. Report back!

Body seems to have gone mad. CD12, normally ovulate on CD17/18, my temps are sky high and have been for a few days, just got a load of EWCM. Every time I think I'm starting to figure out my own patterns, it goes and does something different and weird!

How's everyone else doing?

LisaSimpsonsbff · 25/10/2017 14:22

Aw, thanks guys! My brother is the only sibling DH and I have between us and he's quite a bit younger, so while their oops pregnancy has sometimes felt a bit hard to deal with, it very much feels like a lovely unexpected bonus to have a nephew! I'm also (more selfishly) a little relieved the baby has been born because she wouldn't have had to be that late to give birth on the due date of my first pregnancy, which really wouldn't have felt great.

Congratulations lisa! I'm so pleased you are feeling happy. My best friend had a baby at the end of August. I was quite anxious when I first went round to meet him as I didn't want to get upset and spoil things but I just genuinely felt happy for them and it was so nice.

Bertie that is excellent!

Ooh how exciting, I've never had a baby niece or nephew. :)

I have officially become TTC crazy and put the baby dance period this month on the family calendar Blush

Good job DS can't access it.

ScaryDuck · 25/10/2017 07:41

Congratulations Lisa! That's lovely news. I love my nieces and nephews so much, being an aunt rocks!

And congratulations Mog, fingers crossed for a smooth uneventful pregnancy.

Hope everyone else is well. My AF eventually turned up at 16DPO which is unheard of late for me so messed with my head a bit. Onwards though...

LisaSimpsonsbff · 24/10/2017 21:07

Hi something, I completely understand how you feel - I felt devastated when all my tests came back fine and they said that meant there was nothing to do - like I just couldn't do it again without something changing. I am going to take progesterone and aspirin - the progesterone is from Coventry RMC, where I went as a private patient - but the data on progesterone is very mixed, so I think there are a lot of doctors who don't believe in it. I think, however, that the doctor should be doing more tests than that, and it might be worth you checking that. The Miscarriage Association have a leaflet on recurrent miscarriage that lists tests.

I became an aunt today! Was worried I'd find it hard, but I just melted at the photo my brother sent, so at the moment it feels like a straightforwardly happy thing. In a way it's much easier than a random acquaintance's pregnancy - that feels like it's just a reminder of my own unhappiness (and people I dislike keep getting pregnant at the moment!), whereas this baby will actually be one that I'll get to know and love and enjoy.

Hey ladies, I've been following the thread but haven't posted since the start. I had my first appointment at the recurrent miscarriage clinic and it was a massive disappointment. The only thing th doctor agreed to do was the anti phospholipids blood test. She said they didn't believe progesterone did anything and they don't prescribe it in my area. I'm so gutted because after 4 losses I just feel I'm loosing hope Sad

MogScratch · 24/10/2017 20:25

Thank you for all your support. I'm coming up to 9 weeks, so still a long way to go but further than the last couple of times. Not sure about another scan before 12 weeks. I'll see how things are over next couple weeks.

Keep - it's so frustrating when appointments get delayed for no real reason. Hopefully you will be able to sneak scan in just before ovulation so not waiting extra time for that afterwards.

Anne - Good that you don't have to wait as long if already ovulated and you can still have sexy weekend!

Miami - do you expect a long wait until postmortem results? That must be another difficult limbo to be in, although it won't change things, I imagine it will be helpful to have some explanation.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 24/10/2017 17:11

Great news, mog - so happy to hear all is going well. Hope it's meant you can relax a bit more.

I've been put on progesterone (to be taken every cycle from 7dpo) and told to take aspirin from bfp, kimmi. Haven't yet got pregnant, so can't report on results! They did tell me that a small number of people find the progesterone has a contraceptive effect, so naturally I'm worrying (almost certainly unnecessarily...) about that - but obviously that's only if you take it before bfp. I'm so sorry that it's proving a prolonged process for you - completely understand why you're so frustrated.

Also I am so sorry that it is dragging for you. I looked into getting private d&c with last miscarriage as I had had the medical management and it hadn’t worked. It just feels so awful when you can’t even get to the end of the physically awful bit. Eventually I rang the epu crying and they gave me second dose of medical management. Hope you are ok and have lots of support.
