TTC after recurrent miscarriage

Hi, just wondering if anyone else was in a similar place to me and wanted to chat about it? I'm 30, TTC my first and have had three miscarriages, all early (two natural MCs at five weeks, then a MMC where a scan at 6+5 revealed development had again stopped at 5 weeks). I've had RMC tests and am just waiting on the results of that but hoping to be able to TTC again from my next period, which should come any day now. I've found throughout the whole thing (have been TTC just over a year now) that it's really helped me to chat with people in similar positions, so if anyone wants to be TTC buddies please let me know!

Was the new thread made? Smile

AnneLovesGilbert · 20/01/2018 20:10

Do we want a new thread? I don’t mind starting one if so.

AnneLovesGilbert · 20/01/2018 20:09

I hope your friend is sensitive and there’s not too much pregnancy talk miami. Can’t imagine how hard it must be and awful you’ve got the added stress and frustration of snails pace referrals at the hospital on top. M

What appointments are you waiting for? Have they advised you wait before trying again? I imagine the prospect is quite conflicting but completely understand you’re both keen to have another pregnancy soon, you want to be parents again.

Cut yourself some slack with the new baby and your friends. Only do and say what feels okay and don’t push yourself to be or do anything putting their feelings above yours. As you’ve said to me many times before, mind yourself xxx

Oh, I will unicorns Smile There’s a beautiful healthy wonderful baby waiting for you.

How are you mog? Nice of you to pop in Smile

I had a really good acu session today. I spend the first half hour just talking to her. She’s one of those people you find yourself just opening up to. Didn’t cry which I sometimes do and it was cathartic to chat everything through, including my head fuck of a December/new year cycle, how hard it is when DH is gutted and worried, how I’ve taken a step back this month which has helped. I go to have her stick needles in me but I think the impartial listening is at least as healing!

Would you go back to it miami? I know you liked it in the past.

I’m feeling pretty zen about this month. Not sure when I ovulated. Had clear symptoms one day but haven’t bothered to put anything in FF so don’t remember. I’m around CD 20/21 so af due in 4-8 ish days and I’m expecting it calmly.

The horrendous boobs are back. Sooo painful and in the way of everything all the time. Just seems to always happen now. I expect if I do get pregnant again I’ll know because they don’t hurt.

MogScratch · 20/01/2018 19:24

Miami - how frustrating of the hospital. Are you beginning to feel ready to try again (ignoring the delay to the referrals ie if you had further information and some reassurance)? It must be so hard seeing your friends with babies / pregnant, however sympathetic and considerate hey are. Even with earlier miscarriages the hopes and dreams of having your baby start, but must be much worse the further along the pregnancy. I hope you have a fun time with your friend anyway.

Unicorn - I hope your body goes back into your normal rhythm quickly after this, so you can try again. Good to hear the hospital offered you early scan next time. Mine did similar. I delayed it as long as possible in hope that the scan would not just lead to greater uncertainty - it was hard waiting but I think helpful.

Anne - fingers crossed for a positive next week. Are you feeling symptoms / intuition either way?

Miami81 · 20/01/2018 08:54

Hi there
Wow it has been a successful thread so far hasn't it! I hope the luck continues to run off on you unicorns and anne.
Unicorns in terms of epu cheekiness I ended up seeing them at 6+2, 7+3 and 9 wks in my last pregnancy. I had bleeding and pain and all kinds of weird things. The one at 9 wks was what they refer to as the 'reassurance' scan, one of the nurses explained to me that if you have a good scan around then with hb and growth on track for dates then your chances go very high. So our local epu policy is to try and get people to hold out until that scan. I know that's incredibly tough but it's just so you know that without bleeding they may be reluctant to scan earlier then that.
I am having an absolutely epic case of FML this week, friends who were pregnant the same time as us had their baby girl on Thursday. It's just so unfair that our beautiful baby will never get to meet her or play with her or fight over toys. The why me's are very bad right now.
Also the hospital are being painful. None of our referrals have come through, I have chased them and they are just being very lacsidasical about it all. Like there is no rush on them at all, and I'm here thinking ffs people do you not realise that we are delaying trying again until we have all these appts.
Anyway I hope you all have lovely weekends. My best friend from Home is coming to visit, she's around 23 wks pregnant so that won't be easy but it will be lovely to see her.

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 20/01/2018 08:30

@AnneLovesGilbert It better happen for us and I'm sure we'll get there! They really are being so nice at the moment. I'm not sure whether its worth seeing if I can get another appointment for between 8-9 or something but that's a bit cheeky really!

Ha tell me that in a couple of months time Grin

AnneLovesGilbert · 18/01/2018 22:20

I know what you mean about the prospect of another pregnancy. One day at a time, now getting through this difficult phase and again through the dreaded ttc and pregnancy when that happens for us x

I’m so relieved for you that things are all looking good again in there and that you’ve had supportive compassionate care. Makes such a difference.

I remember the staff at the EPU as a bunch of coffee-supplying, hug-giving, funny, kind, supportive angels. We’ve been lucky with our experience of the RMC so far too. Not had a trip there for ages but have an open appointment when I get my next bfp.

Really good to know they’ll scan you early.

I’m sorry bloods coincide with your due date Flowers

You’re not irritating at all! It’s nice being able to chat to you. Let it all out, bad and good Smile

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 18/01/2018 21:33

@AnneLovesGilbert so close to being over, just a few little bits here and there. The remaining bit seems to have gone and looks how it should at this stage in my cycle. They (finally) took some bloods today and will do a repeat on Monday to see if there's a change (I really wanted to avoid Monday as it's my due date but nothing seems to be going well for that day anyway, but that's for another time!)

The lady who spoke to me after the scan remembered me from November so is really trying to keep on top of things as it's been nearly 2 months since we found out about our mc. She's also given me a card for an open appointment to use at any time so they can scan me when I'm 6-7 weeks pregnant (whenever that will be ofc!) so they can keep tabs. Basically I asked and I got it no questions asked but I think she can sense how all over the place I am. Fuck knows how I'll manage another pregnancy at this rate, I'll be so unbelievably irritating that I'm already getting on my own nerves 😅

AnneLovesGilbert · 18/01/2018 18:15

Any developments unicorns? Thinking of you. You must be so so desperate for it to be over. Has af completely gone?

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 18/01/2018 12:46

@AnneLovesGilbert Have an appointment in a couple of hours. FRER from yesterday morning is positive but today's test that the unit gave me is near-negative so who knows anymore

AnneLovesGilbert · 18/01/2018 10:45

I think so Lisa, not been temping but checked dates and on CD19.

What did they say unicorns? How are you doing now?

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 16/01/2018 20:58

@LisaSimpsonsbff It does a bit hey? Grin It seems to be nearing the end which is expected tomorrow (even if it runs into day 6 I'd say it's pretty good going!). I'm going to ring the EPAC tomorrow morning to maybe see if they still want me to test and scan me on the off chance that it's still there (it wouldn't shock me right now Hmm). I think I'd referred to be scanned just to be given the all clear

LisaSimpsonsbff · 16/01/2018 14:59

Really glad to hear that you feel reassured and better informed, bertie.

Glad to hear you're feeling better anne, but definitely no Blush about having a rant the other day - it's good to let out frustrations! Are you in the 2WW at the moment?

Sounds so weird to say but pleased that AF came unicorns - as you say, hopefully this will be the end of it all. It's been so hard for you having it so dragged out, and I really hope this will mark the end of things physically.

I'm so pleased it was such a positive meeting Bertie. Wishing you and DH all the luck in the world with this pregnancy. Stay happy, healthy and optimistic. I have a good feeling Smile

Thank you for all of your kindness, support and wisdom, can't tell you how great you've been. Hope the new apartment works out for you as well, it's going to be an exciting year for all of you.

BertieBotts · 15/01/2018 16:43

Hi ladies, I'm just going to give a final update here and then I'll leave you to your new thread with huge best wishes and luck for sticky babies in the future!

I just wanted to write about my geneticist appointment because we finally got it today and I know some of you have been interested in this update as it seems like it has been so long coming!

She was lovely, which was really nice. Immediately put us at ease. The office was strange with a huge waiting room with just four empty chairs in the middle really awkwardly which gave us the giggles! We had to go through the whole family history on both sides of any children, miscarriages and unusually early deaths. That was a challenge but we managed it. Because there's no record from anybody else we were advised to redo the karyotype test. She said she might as well do it for both of us because if there's something wrong with me they wouldn't want to miss it either which I thought was very thorough. So we had his and hers blood tests! She advised that the karyotype will take 2-3 weeks to come back. After that they will be able to advise whether we should have amniocentesis, and she did also say that there might be a possibility of ordering a custom NIPT (like harmony) for our specific problems but it's a low chance. But I was blown away she would even mention that and it seems really thorough and willing to explore all options. Finally she told us not to bother with the NT scan (we'd have to pay for this) because she'd refer us for a detailed ultrasound anyway which will be more relevant to us. And it will be covered by insurance that way. :) So overall, really happy with this experience and feels like totally the right thing to have done.

AnneLovesGilbert · 13/01/2018 11:03

Sorry it’s so horrible unicorns, it can really take it out of you physically and emotionally. Rest up and eat nice things. As you say, hopefully it’ll flush everything out and you can start again feeling reassured your insides are fresh and clean and ready to get back on it. Hope af passes quickly.

I’m in blissfulish ignorance about this cycle bar feeling like ovulation has happened. Feeling a bit more zen after my outburst the other day Blush

keepon, you know you’re welcome as long as you like my love x

Pipe away anytime and keep reminding us there’s hope ahead Smile

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 13/01/2018 10:12

Looks like AF is finally well and truly here (and horrible as anything) so hopefully this last bit will be out soon. So relieved it's picked up and it might be all over soon (and a bit sad too but I think I'm over the shock of it all to a degree)

keeponrunning85 · 11/01/2018 19:28

Thank you Miami. How are you doing? Have you heard anything about your rheumatology appointment yet?

Anne, I did manage to get up the courage to join the pregnant after MC thread but I still find this thread very comforting and also feel quite a strong allegiance to you all so would like to stay if possible. Although I wouldn't want to be causing upset to any of you. Can I lurk away in the background and occasionally pipe up?

AnneLovesGilbert · 11/01/2018 16:53

I start it around ov through to AF, so haven't started it this cycle.

Had really strong ovary stabbing yesterday, took my breath away twice, and copious ewcm and watery stuff the rest of the time. Had a feeling that stopping temping for a bit might not help me ignore it all. The shagging has been epic though Grin

Thanks Fox, and I don't recall you ever putting your foot in it! Hope you're good too x

Oh keepon I thought of you this morning when I was brushing my teeth and didn't get a chance to login and wish you luck. This is great news. Thrilled to bits for you.

AnneLovesGilbert · 11/01/2018 15:31

Oh that's wonderful news! Thanks for letting me know.

I'm alright thanks. Aware a lot of you are probably now on other happier threads now we've had so many lovely pregnancies recently.

Don't feel you need to come back here, but really glad to hear all is well Smile Very happy for you.

keeponrunning85 · 11/01/2018 15:28

Thanks so much Anne. So lovely of you to remember. How are you doing?

I'm pleased to report a positive scan. Measuring 7+5 with a good heartbeat and my Consultant was very happy with how things are looking. Going back on the 23rd for another one.

AnneLovesGilbert · 11/01/2018 14:31

Thinking about you today keepon. Hope all is well with you and bean.
