We started trying properly last month, and inevitably my husband was away during the key few days! Unsurprisingly, my period arrived bang on time so now we're onto cycle number 2.

I'm being very impatient about conceiving and it seems to have been forever already (I know, I'm being a crazy person!) but I think part of that is having taken pregnacare since April, even though we were still using contraception then. I guess I'm just not very good at not being in control... I've had to seriously educate my husband too - he seemed to be convinced that we could get pregnant at any time of the month, and that it would inevitably happen immediately! He didn't realise that it often takes months even for healthy couples.

Oh no, sorry to hear that Little Red. Hopefully cycle 3 will be better for you.

Cycle 2 wasn't the lucky one for me.
I was really sad when AF arrived. Quite demoralised.
I've learnt a lot though.

Stee1 · 18/09/2017 16:49

Officially 1dpo how do keep my mind off it now lol. X

karategirl · 18/09/2017 15:46

Hi @Peanutty86 So sorry to hear how tough it's been for you recently. How are you holding up?

So today starts the mega symptom spotting. I've no idea if I actually ovulated, so don't know how many (if any) dpo I am, but today my breasts are so sore for no readily apparent reason. My period isn't due until 27th.

Anyone else clinging onto things which are probably nothing?

Littleredwagon2308 · 16/09/2017 12:48

@Peanutty86 I'm sorry about your bereavements. Don't give up until AF has arrived - I'm not! Smile

Peanutty86 · 16/09/2017 12:41

Hi ladies, do you mind if I join?
I've come of HBC in April, and am in my 3rd cycle, 1st one TTC. Due to fiancé being away for work we could only bd a day after positive OPK, day of ovulation. It's been a stressful time as we are getting married end of September and had two family bereavements within 3 weeks... I'm counting myself as being out. Negative test today at 10 dpo, AF due on Monday night. Was extremely tired yesterday and generally has some 'symptoms', probably more in my head than my abdomen....

Stee1 · 16/09/2017 11:57

Solid smiley today dtd last night will be tonight and tomorrow 👌 fingers crossed for us all. Seem to have ovulated 2-3 days early this month x

Littleredwagon2308 · 16/09/2017 11:54

Welcome back!

I tested early, at 10 DPO, yesterday and got a BFN.
AF is due tomorrow and I've got weak cramps. I'm still hopeful though.

karategirl · 16/09/2017 11:25

I'm back from my work trip, hello everyone!

According to my Clue app, I should be in the 2ww now, but I'm not convinced I ovulated this month. I don't think I've had any EWCM. Combined with (yet again) being apart from one another for most of the week, it seems unlikely that this month with be our month... sigh

How's everyone else doing? Any more positive news?

Littleredwagon2308 · 13/09/2017 15:15

How's everyone doing?

I'm sure I'm getting AF symptoms.

I've recently read some advice that we should enter the 2WW with slight pessimism, so that we aren't too disappointed, but also be pleasantly surprised when the BFP eventually arrives. I'm not sure this is easy to do. The problem might be because we can't forget about it, because we're having to record stuff everyday.

lampert · 13/09/2017 08:23

Well this is my first two week wait experience and arrrrrrrgh I think time has stopped!! Now I understand what everyone is on about!!

Aph413 · 10/09/2017 22:09

@karategirl I think he just got used to my sex drive being low on the coil so he doesn't know what do to now that I'm all over him like a rash!

Littleredwagon2308 · 10/09/2017 18:24

@karategirl Glad I was of assistance

karategirl · 10/09/2017 17:58

@Littleredwagon2308 I have very little up here other than a laptop with 15% battery power left! I could run the power cable up but can't really be bothered Grin Although your gardening suggestion has reminded me that there's a pile of bricks outside which need the mortar cleaning off of them, and to be stacked elsewhere in the garden, so I'm off to do that - thanks!

@karategirl what have you to occupy yourself with whilst looked up. I hope you're not cold.
I like to look up new series I could watch.
Listen to the radio/podcasts on your phone?
Download a book?
If you're cold you could do some exercise?
Some gardening?

Littleredwagon2308 · 10/09/2017 17:17

A family member has been encouraging me to have a baby for a while. It did feel good to finally say we are trying, during one of their pep talks, but at the same time I would rather no one knew except those I wanted to know.

karategirl · 10/09/2017 16:35

@Beckypea I've told a couple of friends, but no family members know. My mum has been nagging me for years to just get on with it (I'm only 28!) and I feel as if the pressure will be too great if she knows. She was whinging again today about how she'll "never be a grandmother" and I was a bit caustic with her about how it belittles the other things I have been doing with my life. If it doesn't happen soon, I'm going to end up snapping at her that we've been trying...

@peachesarenom I find it really difficult to know whether or not I'm better off knowing when I'm ovulating. I can definitely see myself getting obsessed with it, so right now we're just having regular sex. Hopefully it'll work!

@Aph413 It's interesting how people can get so caught up with the technical stuff, that they can start to ignore the basics! Do you think he's worried about wasting his sperm if you have sex at a time which isn't optimum?

Hi @Littleredwagon2308 We're in cycle 2 of TTC #1 as well! How are you finding the 2ww? Last month, I was so completely distracted by it. I'm hoping it's just because it's something new, and that we'll either conceive very soon (preferably!) or that it will become more normal as the months go on, and I'll be less uptight about it. I'm very keen to only test once my period's late, and preferably at the weekend, but whether that will actually happen, who knows?

I've managed to lock myself out of my house this afternoon (whoops!). I'm currently sitting in the shed / summer house which my husband and father in law built last summer, waiting for my husband to get back from work in a couple of hours' time. I need something to occupy my time other than scouring the MN conception board, because I'm already obsessed enough! Confused Suggestions very welcome!

Hi Everyone,

I'd love to join you, I'm new to TTC (cycle 2 of TTC #1). Currently in the 2ww with AF due 27. Planning on testing when I'm late.
At the mo the 2ww is full of excitement. It's amazing how my brain can be sure I'm pregnant and sure I'm not all at the same time.

Aph413 · 10/09/2017 09:05

@Beckypea My mum and sister know we're trying but it's not actually spoken about which I'm glad about. My mum had serious fertility issues trying to have kids so she doesn't feel the need to ask if I'm pregnant yet or anything.
@peachesarenom considering my husband was the one trying to get us to start earlier than we have and has been encouraging me to take ovulation sticks he seems to have forgotten we need to actually have sex to stand half a chance!

peachesarenom · 10/09/2017 01:42

Hi everyone,

I feel new too! I've been 'trying' since Jan but paid no attention to ovulation or having sex every other day like my GP suggested, just had sex when OH was least annoying!

Looking back it never coincided with ovulation!

We bought a clear blue advanced fertility monitor for August and I was super excited to see the LH surge so I think that means I ovulated. Exciting as I have PCOS! We both thought, we've focussed and done everything 'right' so it'll defo happen this month. Sadly it did not. I knew though, I told OH and my mum that I was having period symptoms during the 2WW but was still sad.

There was an awful lot of peeing into clean and dry containers then dip testing. I think it might just be easier to have sex every other day!

Armygirl · 09/09/2017 20:11

So I'm still waiting for my period to show up. I was convinced it was coming Thursday or Friday as I was having lower cramps but nothing today and the cramps have gone. 😞 It's almost 7 weeks since I took my last pill. Honestly if I'd known it can take this long to have a period I never would have taken it.

Beckypea · 09/09/2017 17:47

@karategirl my sister is trying to catch me out. I told her we are TTC next year, but she sees through my lies. I said no to a cup of tea today at my mum's and she was like 'why???' Vertigo is awful....I never want this again!

Do your family's/friends know that any of you are TTC?

karategirl · 09/09/2017 15:46

@Beckypea I really hope the vertigo is sorted soon, it sounds dreadful.

Hello to all the newbies on the thread, lovely to have you along for this rollercoaster!

I'm due to ovulate on Wednesday and so my sex drive has gone through the roof the past couple of days. Stayed at my mother in law's last night, and ended up having a quickie this morning before we all went out for a walk because my husband had the audacity to walk into the bedroom just wearing a towel after his shower Blush

I think his mum thinks I'm pregnant. Big family party last night, and she poured me a glass of wine which I took a couple of sips from and then left as my digestion's been terrible recently and alcohol makes it worse (plus I'm trying not to drink too much at the moment, anyway). She ended up drinking it herself rather than mentioning anything. I wish I were pregnant, but sadly not...

I had the realisation that if we don't get pregnant this month, but do in October or November, it'll make not drinking over Christmas really awkward as we won't be ready to announce by then. On the other hand, I need to remind myself not to be impatient and to just let it happen.

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this too. We stopped trying not to get pregnant last month, but have agreed to ttc 'properly' now. No idea about OPK's temping or any of the other things people are talking about! I have 2 DC, but my youngest is 9 so it's a long time since I thought about this stuff, and they just happened with very little effort (I know, I'm lucky!). I know it's going to be trickier this time as I'm 37...

Beckypea · 09/09/2017 12:28

Haha they are funny @Aph413 I wish they were right though!
My mum just came to pick my up as DP is painting his mum's today so me and the dogs have gone to spend the day at hers. Still can't drive yet. My mum just asked me if I was pregnant I'm 33 and was still like cringe lol.
