We started trying properly last month, and inevitably my husband was away during the key few days! Unsurprisingly, my period arrived bang on time so now we're onto cycle number 2.

I'm being very impatient about conceiving and it seems to have been forever already (I know, I'm being a crazy person!) but I think part of that is having taken pregnacare since April, even though we were still using contraception then. I guess I'm just not very good at not being in control... I've had to seriously educate my husband too - he seemed to be convinced that we could get pregnant at any time of the month, and that it would inevitably happen immediately! He didn't realise that it often takes months even for healthy couples.

I've cracked and ordered some Preseed. It feels fairly ridiculous to have done so in cycle 4, but I'm very keen to conceive this month if I can, because it would be good to fall due at the start of the summer holiday, as Mr only works in term time! I figured with all the great reviews, it couldn't do any harm to try it for a month. I may well have already missed the boat as I'm (probably - still not using OPKs) in my fertile window, but here's hoping it arrives by my ovulation due date on Friday!

Congrats @tiff34. I too have bought ovk for this cycle

MamOfFrankie · 25/10/2017 21:44

Congrats tiff. It's a bugger when you just can't be arsed, isn't karate?

I am on cycle 3 and have steadily dtd through nearly every day of FW, but I'm just not feeling as optimistic this month.

karategirl · 25/10/2017 11:48

Congratulations @Tiff34! Let us know how you get on :)

It’s 2 months since I care off the pill and my period was due Monday. I took a test Tuesday which was positive. Could not believe it!! Then another today which was also positive! I don’t really believe it after worrying it was going take forever or not happen for us. I haven’t told anyone yet because I don’t really believe it myself. I even bought an ovk which i was going to use next cycle because I had convinced myself it wouldn’t happen quickly.

karategirl · 24/10/2017 22:32

That's naff @Ttcjo - hope it passes quickly.

I'm now in cycle 4, and need to get back on the shagging bus but I've had a cold and frankly don't feel like I can be arsed. But equally, I know I'll be devastated if my period arrives again... Anyone have any bright ideas for how to encourage me to start again?

Af was late but when arrived was horrendous worst pain and heavy bleeding. Hoping it doesn't last too long so we can try again.

karategirl · 22/10/2017 18:25

We had (luckily, very good!) friends over last night and I had rather a lot to drink. I ended up getting very overemotional about a couple of complete non-events because I've been so upset about not being pregnant. I've been whinging talking to my best friend about the ttc thing quite a lot, so she gathered what was actually going on (and that I wasn't actually crying over the fact that I twice knocked drinks over the table) and took me out to the kitchen for a hug.

@ squify01. Hope it's not too many cycles till you get your bfp.

Squiffy01 · 20/10/2017 15:42

Hi all,

Thought I would join you all. Haven't read back all the pages but will try over the weekend.
On cycle 1 for officially trying here.

karategirl · 20/10/2017 08:35

Ttcjo that must be so frustrating! Hopefully you'll move onto the next cycle quickly.

My period arrived with a vengeance yesterday. Really heavy, loads of clots and, to top it all off, I've got thrush as well! No idea why - I only ever get it when I'm on antibiotics. The thrush arrived first, so I had started to get my hopes up that it might have been a symptom - even bought some tests for Saturday morning, when my period was actually due to start. I wonder whether I maybe had a chemical pregnancy? Feeling very blue about the whole situation.

I have today off work with a friend. I anticipate that I'll be having several large gin and tonics at lunchtime...

Af 5 days late. Negative test yesterday. Sad patiently waiting for af so we can try again

PickettBowtruckles · 18/10/2017 22:09

Zeus I am seriously relating to your post right now!

I've been on hormonal contraception for about 8 years (microgynon, Celeste and Evra patch most recently) and am due my first 'real' period in a couple of weeks (unless we strike gold and get a bfp this month, which I am very doubtful of!!). I had pretty irregular periods before I went on contraception but I was 15/16 so don't know if they'd have regulated themselves eventually. Playing a bit of a game now really as to as and when something will happen, as I have no idea how a 'normal' period is going to be for me. Hope yours sorts itself out soon Flowers

karategirl · 18/10/2017 21:30

Congratulations FlyingFruit!

Hi BeardofZeus, good to have you along. I'm afraid I'm not got anything useful to say, other than to sympathise that I've also no idea what to do or expect - it's all a complete mystery. I had the implant for 12 years, and was on the pill and the mini pill before that so had no idea about what my cycle was doing. It seems to have regularised though - hopefully yours will pretty quickly as well.

I think I'm out this month. I've been in an utterly foul mood over the past couple of days so I'm sure the witch is round the corner...

Hi everyone! Can i join in the thread with a few questions? We are not actively ttc just not preventing it from happening; but I mainly had some questions about what happens to me now if anybody knows/could spread some wisdom?? Smile

So I came off the pill (microgynon) 38 days ago (6 Sep) and immediately had my normal breakthrough bleed. I had been on the pill for 12 and a half years by that point without a break so I'm not sure if that will have an effect at all on my body..?

Anyway.. It's been so long since I had an actual period I don't know what is my normal, which is probably what isn't helping me!

Since two weeks ago I keep getting waves of premenstrual symptoms (cramping, feeling generally a bit tearful, etc) and up until yesterday I had seen not one iota of blood (to the point where I did a pregnancy test and got a bfn). Last night I wiped and had some (red) blood on the tissue .. hallelujah, i thought, my period is here!! And yet .. no more blood .. until this evening when again after wiping there was some blood on the tissue, only this time a dark brown colour like the end of a period. Was that the extent of my period!?

For context, I've not been particularly sexually active these past two weeks as we have just moved house and I got that awful cold that knoks you for six but the week prior to that was pretty full on.. I dont know if this is useful but ... if anyone can help me make sense of my body i would much appreciate it!!

Sorry for the long post.. i don't know anyone else in RL who is at this stage in their life and I don't want to really draw attention to my personal private life just yet if i can avoid it to people who don't know the answer Grin

And congratulations to all BfPs so far Cake

Flyingfruit · 15/10/2017 23:28

Got my BFP tonight. Super excited.

karategirl · 15/10/2017 21:39

I'm not bad thanks. Half way through my two week wait at the moment, but surprisingly calm and un-crazy. I'm feeling pretty good about it this month, but trying not to get my hopes up too much as I don't want to feel too let down if my period does arrive.

peachesarenom · 14/10/2017 22:02

karategirl I'm ok, just feeling sorry for myself! How are you?

PickettBowtruckles · 14/10/2017 18:49

Can I join the party? Very very new to TTC (this week!) so super early days but already doing the crazy person thing of reading up everything and worrying already!

Come off hormonal contraception which I've been on for around 8 years, last 3 of those on the Evra patch. We're both 24 but don't want to keep my hopes up about it happening quickly.

Gem173 · 14/10/2017 18:47

@Tiff34 I feel exactly the same!! I've been off the pill 3 weeks and thought it was too early to try but thought why not as everyone's body is different. Tried 7 opk tests and 6 negative and 1 positive two days ago. Had really bad ovulation pains last night and sorry if tmi bleeding when wiping. But has since gone away. Waiting now for the AF to show now :p trying to be crazy!

Gem173 · 14/10/2017 18:42

On my first cycle at 1 dpo, only bd'ed 4 days prior to ovulation and one night before (when I got a + opk), not gunna get my hopes up since don't think we tried hard enough! In my defence ovulation pains were a b** lol hope everyone gets their BFP! X

karategirl · 14/10/2017 17:38

Oh, Peaches. Are you OK? What a double whammy of crap. Brew Flowers

AF got me after a minor car accident 😢

Tiff34 · 11/10/2017 19:30

I am feeling exactly the same. Just want to be pregnant now! I feel excited when I think ooo I might be but i know I probably aren’t yet. Only stopped taking the pill 6/7 weeks ago and since then had one day bleed so not sure I can even call that a period! I’ve bought an ovulation kit but I can’t stop that until I can work out my cycle. I’ve done three tests already because I hate the not knowing. My partner just tells me to forget about it but Its just always on my mind. Hence me now being active on mumsnet!! Anyone got pregnant quickly after years on the combined pill?

Ttcjo · 11/10/2017 15:20

@karategirl. Yes I've had a mirena for the past 8 years.
