Yum was in need of a new thread, and I thought the title was apt because it's not just TCOYF charts anymore... hope it's ok?? I don't want anyone to think I am taking over

Just needing something, anything, to take my mind OFF my impending doom

OP posts:

Hope your appt went well today City.
It sounds like a good tactic to me.

My head is much better today thanks.
AF seems to have calmed a bit too. I thought it would be like last months, which lasted a bit longer.
I'll soon be counting down again.
I've decided to try to eat more healthily this month and to think about what I'm eating. Maybe it will give me something else to concentrate on.

Do let us know how your appt went.

cityangel · 18/04/2007 10:42

Oh 3catsoo that's tough. Maybe an alternative or herbal approach could help? My Mum gets them and dh's Dad
The blurry vision and sickness is tough

I am good today but nervous. we have our first hospital appointment at barts this afternoon...Don't know what to expect

Still we were naughty again this morning so maybe we'll get lucky.

It would be very amusing to fall pg the month of the first fertility appointment and the first month we nearly stopped trying (temporarily) It has really taken the pressure off dh so I may use it as a future tactic.

How is your head?

3catstoo · 18/04/2007 09:20

I think they are. I've had them since I was 14, which is when I got my periods too.
I've tried so many treatments and excluded things from my diet but nothing seems to stop them.
The are hereditary too and all the other females in my family suffer with them.
We just live with it to some extent but when they come with sickness too it can get a bit much.
Yesterdays was a bad one but I don't always get so knocked out with them.

How are you today?

cityangel · 17/04/2007 18:01

3catsoo so sorry about your migraines

What a nightmare. Could they be linked to hormone issues? Just an idea

3catstoo · 17/04/2007 14:23

City you devil! Such a nice way to give in though.
Wish I had more sex like that these days!

I am now full of holes. The nurse struggled to get blood when the needle was in and then it just poured out once the needle was out! All done now though. I have to wait a week for the results.

I have another shocker of a migraine and have been vomitting all day (with DD2 watching over me with my head down the loo ).

Sorry I can't help with the temps either Ready. I don't know whether to start temping again. My cycle seems fairly predictable and between me and the software we seem to pinpoint Ov. It's my body thats working against me.

How's everyone else?
It's a bit quiet on here again.

citydevilbunny · 17/04/2007 13:09

Course you didn't upset me Ready. I like honesty, banter and people to chat to even when their views differ. I don't think they would be too happy as it's a very male dominatated career driven environment but bugger it!

We haven't been going at as much as normal so its unlikely to happen anyway. If it doesn't then I can enjoy the cocktails on the beach!

Ready · 17/04/2007 09:52

3cats - good luck with your tests today. I know you won't get the results straight away, but I hope everything goes well

City - Phew, I am glad I didn't upset you. I sat and struggled with what to type, in the end, I thought I'd just be honest. Pressed send and then panicked Well, well, well - there is no better way to settle uncertainty over ttc like having a good old fashioned sesh In all honesty, you would deal with the situation if you were to fall this month, and you will have become so invaluable to your new role by the time the pregnancy affects things, that they will be so happy for you, and accommodating!! SO if you fall - WOOO!! and if you don't then you won't be as disappointed as other months, because you can feel as though your baby has decided to wait til you get sorted in your new job first. Best of both worlds
About temps, I get the odd one pre-ov that dips under 36° - the range given in my book suggests this is perfectly normal, and it was just somethingDuchesse said that made me start to doubt it. I know MrsMc sometimes dips under 36° too, so thought she might know (she knows everything ) the answer

Speaking of MrsMc - Got your DH back from his stag adventure? And your house reclaimed from the relatives? ...And breathe How are you feeling? Still sick? I hope not.

Quickly... about me, and my chart. Ok, Sunday I did my OPK earlier than I had on other days, and I got a stronger line, but not quite as dark as the control. So I marked it as a -. Then yesterday I tested 3 times (thank goodness for accessdiagnostics! ) and they got fainter and fainter. In light of this I have changed Sunday to a +. Do you think this is silly? Am I trying to crow-bar a + in? It's just the EW started on Sunday and yesterday, so it feels very much like my fertile time!? I am kicking myself for not doing another opk later on Sunday now. But hindsight is a wonderful thing! ARGH.

citydevilbunny · 16/04/2007 19:58

OMG whilst in the process of discussing it we had sex! Ooops could be the most expensive shag ever! Doh

Afterwards dh said well that settles that then

3catsoo how is your flu? When do you get the test results?

MrsMC how goes it with you booked your holiday yet?

Ready I'm not much of an expert on temps. Mine are usually below 36.6 before OV and above after. The lowest has been 36.2 and that is rare. Thanks for your advice I am still torn but also really want kids so the shagging goes on

citydevilbunny · 16/04/2007 14:56

so I want to keep them happy is what I meant to put

I'll have another chat with dh tonight

I suppose in the scheme of things 2 months doesn't make that much difference but emotionally its hard.

citydevilbunny · 16/04/2007 14:54

Ready you haven't upset me at all you're points are very valid and helpful
I like honesty and ideas

I am feeling v low today because we're definitely not going to try this month now
I also worked out that we may have to skip next month as well to qualify for the 1.5 months pay

Particularly as we had a massive row last night and I properly annoyed dh
I agree Seaside I will go and see the specialist

Its harder as well as I have all the signs OV is imminent

I want to come back to work afterwards and I think I would upset them being taken on for a project role that I couldn't complete because I was off pg
I live up the road from where I work and I really like the company so

Still I have lots to be happy for and the new job is a big boost.

3catstoo · 16/04/2007 14:11

Sorry to see you are on CD1 Seaside.

We haven't had much luck on this thread this month.

The blood tests I'm having tomorrow are FSH, LH, Prolactin and TSH (thyroid, I think). Not really sure what they are all about but hopefully it will tell me something.

I know what you mean about the 'man flu'. I had this bug a few days before DH and got no sympathy at all. Then he got it but of course it was 10 times worse than the version I had .

Ready · 16/04/2007 10:20

Thanks Duchesse - My pre-ov temps slipped below 36 on the odd occasion, but I wasn't poorly! I was reading on the net about temperature ranges, and there can be quite a difference between the reading that you get from an oral thermometer and what your actual inner core temperature will be. Because the probe can only go so far into your mouth! Is it possible the range you have is for core temperature?? Or does it state oral temp? And also our temps are at the lowest at rest, so a temp later in the day would most definitely be higher. Does it take that into consideration?

Apologies for the barrage of questions, only if it is possible there is a reason for me not conceiving, and my temp is a clue to it, then I ought to get it checked.

confused.

duchesse · 15/04/2007 23:47

sorry- that should be 36-8- 37.5

duchesse · 15/04/2007 23:47

Ready- in all the hypothyroidism stuff I've read, thee suggestion is that our body systems are supposed to work optimally at around 36.8-37.05, the underlying assumption being that our cells all operate well only within a very narrow temp range. These sources all seem to suggest that temps below 36 are abnormal, and that temps consistently below 36 are practically diagnostic of hypothyroidism (occasional temps below 36 may just be due to temporary illness).

Given this, it is maybe not very surprising that women with low body temps can have trouble getting pregnant (if their cells are not working optimally, etc) but the link between low thyroid and lowered fertility does not seem well understood yet, and it may be that the fertility book is taking those low temperatures for granted without seeking to explore their possible significance. That said, I'm sure it's perfectly possible for loads of women to get pregnant despite low temps and almost certain hypothyroid, as it does not seem to affect everyone's fertility in the same way.

Ready · 15/04/2007 21:04

3cats - Sorry your DH was poorly. My DH is full of cold (or I should say Man Flu) and I try to be sympathetic, but I never get the same treatment when I have a cold. Tut.

City - I hope that what I said hasn't upset/annoyed/offended you. A bit worried now. I was just trying to help, and fear I haven't helped at all.

MrsMc - I see you updated your chart today. I meant to ask you, or I think I might have done, I can't remember. What was the findings about the below 36° temps?? I haven't had any this cycle, but other cycles I get them pre-ov. Duchesse had said that they were a cause for concern , my book said it was in the normal range - confused. Thought you might know more? Hope you are ok? Have you got your house back?

seaside72 · 15/04/2007 21:03

City I am sorry you are having to make a hard decision - I think that you have to go with what you think is best and have no regrets Loads of luck with the new job.
BTW I woud def stil go to the specialist as the liklehood is that any treatment etc will have a waiting time and I am sure it would be reassuring to do any tetst they might offer anyway?

3cats - so sorry about AF and migraine - I used to get them really badly but luckily they seem to have fizzled out since I have been off the pill. Good luck for your blood tests - a 4 month wait for the x-ray is insane?? fingers crossed they get a cancellation!

3catstoo · 15/04/2007 19:39

Thanks Ready.
Had a nice time away. DH was a bit poorly. He always is as soon as he takes time off!

Ready · 15/04/2007 17:52

City - It seems like this is causing you a lot of worry and turmoil. It's a very important decision, that is completely personal to you. Of course it is the financially sensible option, to take a break.

But it all depends on how important this new job is for you in the grand scheme of things?? What would you do if you conceived this month? (Be over the moon. Of course.)But when baby is born, will you want (be able) to do the same job? That is relevant I think?

Will it really affect your reputation if you were to fall pregnant straight away? Does that matter? I am not suggesting I know the answers, I am just throwing out questions, really. I hope I don't sound flippant.

Personally, there is no way I could stop trying, but then our situation is very different. I think that losing 1.5 months salary is not the worst thing, you could put a little extra away each month to cover it, perhaps?

Also, if you were to conceive next month, you will be heavily pregnant at that critical time in your new role... something to think about perhaps??

I have just waffled on here... probably no help at all. I hope you come to a decision that you feel happy with, though, I suspect it's not as easy as that.

When is your appointment again??

citydevilbunny · 15/04/2007 17:30

Decided not to ttc this month (week)

As I have a new job that starts in a month if I get pg before I join I would miss out on SMP (1.5 months salary) and would be due at a critical date for the new role.

I have been really torn and although I am doing the sensible thing part of me thinks I should throw caution to the wind and risk the extra money and reputation in new role?

I don't want us to get out of practice and am in prime horny phase

On top of all this we are going to see the specialist next week.

What do you think I should do?

Apologies for the entirely selfish post. How is everyone else doing enjoying the sun?

Ready · 15/04/2007 14:25

Oh 3cats - Sorry to hear you are on CD1. Booooo. Fingers crossed for all your tests. 4 months is a long time to wait for the x-ray! I guess they hope people will conceive naturally if they have to wait longer. Sorry to hear about your migraine.
Hope you had a lovely time away though?

3catstoo · 15/04/2007 11:48

Hi All.

CD1 today .

Appt went ok.

I have 4 blood tests to do on Tuesday (between day 1 and 5) and have to have an x ray to check my tubes (4 month wait!).

No other explanation.

I have a terrible migraine.

Will catch up on Tuesday, once we are back to normal.

Hope you are all ok.

MrsMcJnr · 13/04/2007 15:19

Ready sounds like you and DH have got it all planned out! You won?t miss the LH if you test each possible day at around the same time I don?t think, I could be wrong though!

Hi Seaside ? sperm meets eggs plan? Is that like my sperm lie in wait to ambush unsuspecting egg plan?! Have you heard the rumour that we all ovulate at 6pm? Don?t know if there is any truth in it though! Couldn?t remember that Chinese Medicine point from my book, sounds good though! Never TMI in my opinion! Fingers crossed that the temps stay up beyond 12dpo. As you say, you can have perfect chart, perfect timing, good eggs and good sperm and still only have 25% chance ? it?s a wonder human are not extinct!!

That?s great news about your LP Rattling defo seen the ads for 300 ? mucho testosterone! What?s Vit C meant to do? Don?t seem to be many TTC inducing films out at the mo do there?

Sorry I haven?t had a chance to update my chart, pretty boring right now anyway, I will do it this weekend

seaside72 · 13/04/2007 12:33

Good news about LP Rattling - will have a think about a film suggestion!

rattling · 13/04/2007 12:29

Forgot to mention before, but my LP seemed to leap from a rubbish (but consistent) 9 days to a healthy 12 days last cycle - looks like I ovulated 2 days earlier than usual, the day after DH and I went to see the film 300 - no-one knew what I was talking about at the time, but you must have seen some adverts now, scantily clad, oiled men attacking each other . May have been that or the bottle of wine we shared very quickly before retiring for what was most definately a shag.

Still possible the Vit C I started taking kicked in, but we will be trying to re-create the day a week on Sunday. Any suggestions for another film that will get both sexes going?

Ready · 13/04/2007 12:18

Seaside - Yep, a good friend told me about the sperm meets egg plan (and I think someone posted a link to it on a thread somewhere!) and we tried to do it 2 cycles ago, but the eggs were not interested Fingers crossed they are more keen to play this cycle!
I know what you are saying about your chart - BUT, the last 2 didn't have as steady a line - so I am still excited for you!!
I agree with you that well timed doesn't always get you a BFP - looking over my charts, on the whole the sex has been pretty well timed, and nothing to show for it! The moon phase thing you posted really got me thinking, that we should keep going through the entire cycle if we can, just because you never know - the moon or this spontaneous ovulation theory could have something in it?
