3catstoo · 29/05/2007 08:38

Huge relief.
Ds and DD! are now on the Eurostar. Passport control were very kind!

3catstoo · 29/05/2007 07:32

Morning All.

How is everyone after the bank holiday weekend?

I am soooooooo stressed. Had one of the most stressful weekends in ages. My own fault too!

To cut it short.
DS and DD1 were meant to be going to Eurodisney today with Grandma and Grandad. My parents arrived on Sunday. Mum promptly asked for the childrens passports so that she didn't have to panic at the last minute.

Dh looked at them and announced that they had expired 2 weeks ago! Oh S**T.
I have been on the phone non stop since then to passport offices immigration etc.

So we took a risk this morning and sent them off to Waterloo in the hope that their old passports (only 2 weeks out of date), the new forms and photos fully filled in and countersigned, a letter from me authorising my parents to take them and a photo copy of my passport will get them through passport control.
Needless to say my Mum is not happy.
We tried everything but it's a bank holiday weekend and everywhere is closed.
As she has spent £1000 on this 3 day trip I am crossing my fingers that I get a call at 9.30am to say they are on the Eurostar.

I did speak to the British immigration in Paris and they said that it would be upto the French at Waterloo but they might let them through. She gave the impression that the English would be fine with it.

So please keep you fingers crossed for them.

DH and I both thought that the childrens passports were 10 yr ones like ours . We do feel rather silly now!!!

I think all this stress will delay Ov (which is a good thing).

3catstoo · 25/05/2007 15:48

Ready, I think I will just carry on and hope he just 'gives in' at the appropriate times .
It could be worse, he could actually put his foot down and say no more unprotected bd'ing. This will be the 10th cycle, so he shouldn't be too upset if I do get pg. He knows how much I want this. Very selfish of me really but he was the one who wanted the 3rd, not me! How things change.

Well the rain has well and truly arrived . Just in time for the BH weekend.

my1stbaby · 25/05/2007 13:57

mrsmc tries just temp only as you suggested. this time like FF, no ovulation detected yet. maybe its anovulatory after all but i guess it's not all over until af arrives .

Ready · 25/05/2007 13:39

3cats - Talk about mixed messages from your DH. Sorry to hear that he still feels that he doesn't want another baby. What do you think you will do? Is he just worried about the financial side of having 4 do you think? I am sure that when you fall he will be over the moon. Fingers crossed

Ready · 25/05/2007 13:36

haha MrsMc - it was just the temperature rise that I was querying to be honest. My book says 0.1 so in effect I would assume that if all your pre-ov temps were 36.3 for example and all your post-ov temps were 36.4 that would still count as a shift. Though I doubt anyone has such a small shift, that is how it comes across in my book.... and also on fertilityfriend I found this that suggests 0.2 degree c, but also that 0.1 is enough. www.fertilityfriend.com/Faqs/Temperature-Rise-and-Ovulation.html

I have always said that I am no expert, mind you.

3catstoo · 25/05/2007 13:34

MrsMc your Aunties are very mean to say those things, how insensitive.
Should your other Aunt have told you though .

When it's family I think the 12 week rule does not count, surely that's just a guide of when to tell employers or not so close friends?

They are in the wrong not you. Big hugs to you.

Ready, I think the migraine was weather related really. Although it was beautifully sunny it was fairly heavy, iyswim.

No migraine today, thank goodness.
I don't really feel ant effects of the pills yet, early days and such a low dose too.

On the subject of DH, I thought I had cracked it but then last night he sat next to me on the sofa, said hello followed by "I don't want another baby and never have".
Oh !
Then he said "But you are looking very sexy this evening so I won't be able to help myself".

What on earth am I supposed to think?

Pity last night wasn't Ov.
I must remember what I was wearing and have it washed ready for when I Ov and hope he thinks the same then .

Hi to everyone else.
Have a fab weekend.
xxxxxxxx

MrsMcJnr · 25/05/2007 13:01

what does it do on temp alone?

my1stbaby · 25/05/2007 12:48

Thank you so much mrsmc and ready for analysing my charts. It's very kind of you guys to do so and it's very much appreciated.

I have changed my calculation settings as you suggested to temp and cm. The software did re-calculate but again showed ov at cd11. I've just input the same data in fertility friend and came back with no ov detected .

You are right mrsmc about not being stress about this charting business. Last time I got pg, I didn't chart but just used opks. I have had +ves consistently before m/c. I guess you are right I'm probbaly still messed up after m/c. I will try to be calmer....

I hope all is going well with you mrsmc. People can be so insensitive sometimes-just ignore them. Big hugs to you. Take care of yourself.

MrsMcJnr · 25/05/2007 12:33

Hello Ready thanks. Both of the women are nurses too! How are you hon? Doing ok? Re My1stbaby?s chart ? I don?t think we disagree Ready, I said CD15 for OV in April. If you mean about my statement ?there is the possibility that you did not OV last cycle because your temps do not show a .3 rise after OV and due to the -ive OPKS and lack of EWCM? I could have been clearer now that I read it back , I did not mean that the rise had to happen the next day and as you say, it is looked at over at least 3 but you are looking for a .3C rise in temp overall after OV are you not? that?s what I have always thought! I?ll check Toni?s book tonight and report back!

Ready · 25/05/2007 12:03

MrsMc - So sorry to hear what people have said about you. I am frankly quite disgusted actually. How dare they say such hurtful and ridiculously small-minded things! Of course it counts a baby. Honestly. Some people beggar belief. Please ignore them, and don't allow such vile opinions to worry you. - Sending you big hugs and much love!

On the topic of temps... sorry to disagree, but as far as I was aware the temperature shift is "identified by a series of at least 3 consecutive readings that are at least 0.1°c higher than the previous 6 readings" - With that in mind, My1stbaby I would say ovulation occured on CD15 in April based on temps. But then I only ever use temps as the principal factor.
MrsMc - Have a got this wrong? - or are we using different temps - so 0.1°c and 0.3°f???

3cats - So pleased your GP is being so good about the thyroxine. Do you think that the drug was the reason for the migraine? Is it listed as a side-effect?
I totally understand you pinning your hopes on these findings - I think I would be too. Since it is well documented that thyroid issues are connected to fertility problems. Fingers crossed

Cityangel - How are you chick!!? I hope that work is calming down a little for you. Be sure to make time for yourself, just kicking back and relaxing. Fingers crossed for you.

Other spotters - I am not sure who is out there anymore, hope you are well.

MrsMcJnr · 25/05/2007 10:11

My1stbaby ? I?ve had a look at both of your charts. I am wondering whether you need to adjust the settings on your software? You can do this under Preferences on one of the drop down boxes in the toolbar.

What strikes me from your April chart is:

  1. If you are taking your temp at the same time each day and there are no disturbances, your coverline should have been higher, probably at 36.55 rather than 36.45 due to the 3 temps over the coverline in the first part of your cycle.
  2. Based on CM alone, OV on CD12 might be likely but it is highly unlikely based on your temps. I think you need to check your preferences on this point. What is your OV being predicted on? I suspect it is either CM alone or Fertility Monitor readings. I can?t comment on the FM as have never used one myself but I have used OPKs.
  3. The fact that there is no EWCM suggests that maybe you could benefit from some help there ? do you drink grapefruit juice to increase your CM or use pre-seed which is a sperm friendly lubricant? Also, are you checking your CP at the same time everyday? Apparently it shifts and that was one of the reasons I stopped recording it. I also didn?t like the idea of wasting any EWCM that might be up there as I never had much either!
  4. For what it?s worth ? I think temps, if reliable, suggest that you OVd on CD15 as your temp was consistently over the coverline then. Your CP would back this up. I would say though that there is the possibility that you did not OV last cycle because your temps do not show a .3 rise after OV and due to the -ive OPKS and lack of EWCM.
  5. Does look like you are making the most of your fertile time though very impressive

Your May chart:

  1. This cycle I can see that you temp consistently at the same time.
  2. On temps again, I can?t see how the software has you OVd on CD11, I think CD14 is more likely based on temps.
  3. I can see that your CM does suggest OV on CD11 and it?s good to see some EWCM this time Your CP also backs up your CM this time.
  4. I wouldn?t worry too much about the OPKs, some people never get positives (and some never get negatives!) have you had positives before you started charting?
  5. I suspect that if you change your preferences, the software would change OV to CD14 and reinstate that high temp on CD17 establishing OV has occurred.
  6. If OV was to change to CD14, you would be 10dpo today and that dip on 7dpo, CD21 could have been an exciting one.
  7. It?s interesting that the spotting has now stopped. Last time I got my BFP, I had spotting from 3dpo to 11dpo and got a BFP on 12dpo.
  8. It might help you to record physical things like cramps, headaches etc.

Generally though, your temps seem fine pre-OV, maybe a bit low afterwards this cycle, have you been unwell at all? The other thing to bear in mind is that you have only recently had a MC and it can mess things up for a while. Have a look at my chart after my MC, what a mess! You can see it here its cycle 8.

Also, you can take comfort from the fact that no matter what your chart is showing (and it does take some time to see patterns) you are doing plenty of the necessary around the right time and that has to be good I think you can safely stop for this cycle now if you need a rest!

I don?t mean to be patronising when I say this, but try and see charting as a source of power rather than stress, it?s like any software, you have to work a bit for it before it can really work for you Here anything if you have any questions and I can help

my1stbaby · 24/05/2007 19:00

Hello ladies, I need some help/advice, expert or otherwise about my cycle. I've posted a link to my charts:

www.tcoyf.com/forum/chart.asp?id=mar1966

Just need someone to help me shed some lights on what's going on. The TCOYF software seems to suggest that I ovulated on cd11 but my CBFM didn't register any peak fertility and all my opk tests were negative. I do the opk test twice a day, once at 1pm and again at 8pm. My temp seems quite low as well and I'm note sure about the thermal shift though. I spotted very lightly (pink and not brown) from cd18-21 but it has stopped completely now. This is my 2nd cycle after m/c. Also 2nd cycle temping. Not sure what to do now, keep BD or not? I could see the panic in DH eyes whenever we go to bed now...poor thing! . But honestly, I'm getting very depressed about it all. Any advice/help in interpreting my chart would be truly appreciated. Thank you ladies.

MrsMcJnr · 24/05/2007 14:10

Hey 3cats not lovely here ? lucky you! sounds like they are managing to get the medical stuff moving for you, that?s great news. Do you feel any better yet or will the thyroxin take time to take effect? How is DH being about it all? Will he do all that?s needed for another one or is he still undecided? I?m hoping that the meds will take effect and you?ll fall really quickly

I?m feeling a bit queasy and vulnerable today. One of DH?s aunts told me what another two had been saying about me and how they had criticised me for even telling my PIL about the MC because it was before 12 weeks and therefore didn?t ?count? as a baby. I was really hurt and am as a consequence feeling a bit over sensitive . Thank you for you hopes for my next scan

3catstoo · 24/05/2007 13:23

Hi All.

What a fabulous sunny day .
How is everyone today?

I started the thyroxine yesterday. Woke up with migraine today, which is unusual for this point in my cycle. My GP said I can still see the thyroid specialist and take the 25mg thyroxin in the meantime. . He was very good about it. So now I'm seeing the thyroid guy and the fertility woman on the same day.

MrsMc, I may start temping again next month. As I've only just started the tablets I'll give it this month to settle.

I have all my hopes suddenly pinned on these drugs!

How are you feeling MrsMc?
I had an early scan with DS as I had had an early m/c before. I started bleeding when 5 weeks pg with DS and assumed it was another m/c. Like you they could not see enough at such an early scan but gave me another one 2 weeks later and all was fine.
I had the same with DD1 only I though the bleeding was AF so just carried on. 2 weeks later I tested and realised I was pg. No early tests as the bleeding had stopped.
With DD2 I also bled (sp?) early.
I think that's just my bodies reaction. Doesn't stop the worrying though.

Fingers crossed that they can tell you more positive things at your next scan.

MrsMcJnr · 23/05/2007 16:36

Ready ? chart looks good but don?t know when you BDd hon.

Seaside your temps truly are tri-phasic! If you are bang on with your dates, I am only a day ahead of you by dates I?d be 6+1 today but by size (& Ov) I?m 5+4

Iwillbe wow! Look at your efforts!!! That had to pay off!

3cats ? are you not tempted to temp again? It would be really interesting to see if your temps change now you are on the thyroxin.

City ? those hearts are looking well placed

Hang in there Mum03 ? fingers crossed!

Have fun with the temping Bobbydazzler

Feedmenow ? it just takes time to see a pattern I think

MrsMcJnr · 23/05/2007 12:07

Ready - Sorry to hear that you think your chances are slim but hey, life has a funny way of doing things when you take your eye off the ball so you never know Enjoy your month off.

Hey 3Cats ? how are you? really hope you get on well and feel so much better on the thyroxin, it could make all the difference TTC. Are you using ionised salt?

Hey City sorry to hear the job is tough hon. There is so much more to life than the corporate rate race though and you know it so don?t let it have all your mind or energy. I?m very selfish about that these days. Sorry about the row, it sounds like you are under a lot of pressure at the moment that?s great news re the appointment being brought forward what are they testing for on CD3?

Personally, I found getting the results a very mixed thing, I was horrified that there actually was something wrong and that I maybe wasn?t just unlucky when we lost the baby in March but now that I have got used to the idea and am being treated, I feel good, I am doing all I can to give this child every success and I do feel like I am in good hands. Of course I wish I?d known before the MC but I do feel that something good came out of it all as I now know. I?ll be thinking of you through these tests and we?ll be here for you Your links were great, thank you, you are such a star

Off for a spot?

Ready · 23/05/2007 10:57

City & 3cats - Not going anywhere exotic I'm afraid - just visiting family and friends back home. Looking forward to seeing everyone. Although slightly worried about how I may react if anyone asks if we are planning on having children. We've been married 3 years next month so - it's bound to come up.

City - Aaw schucks - missing me. I have been on MN a lot less lately. I know what you mean about RL buddies to talk to about ttc - I tell you what, if DH gets a move down that way we will meet up for a ttc lunch Have you told anyone you are ttc?

3cats - Sorry to hear about your underactive thyroid, but there is something that can be done, and hopefully you will fall naturally once it is corrected. I think you can start of with the low dose and they may well test your levels again to see if it has made a difference. I think with thyroid issues everyone is different, so it's best to play it by ear more. I am no expert though, so ask plenty of questions

Other spotters - How's it going??

cityangel · 22/05/2007 22:05

Ready where are you going (roughly) Anywhere warm?

cityangel · 22/05/2007 22:04

Hi everyone. Sorry I have been away for a bit. New City job is tough. There's just no room to be pg there

We're talking about giving it up for 2 months. Given we had a massive row tonight giving it up altogether seems more preferable. Hopefully tomorrow I will feel differently.

Dh got phoned by Barts to say they won't have enough staff in a months time and could they put the appointment back to August. Fortunately his work skills were useful in persuading them to bring it foreward instead. I have my CD3 test coming up no idea if its wee or blood so need to look it up.

MrsMC and 3catsoo how do you feel about having results back that help understand why previously it may not have worked. Does it help explain or worry you more. Personal questions I know so feel free to answer on a postcard later.

MrsMC early scans must be scary especially if you have had an m/c. I really don't know anything useful to say other than you have lots of support on here and its good you're in discussions with the consultant. Did any of the links help?

Ready am missing you. Come to London, jump on a train. I am craving RL buddies to chat to. I live a corporate world where getting pregnant is seen as career suicide. I wish I had Readies in the office.

3catstoo · 22/05/2007 18:50

Hi Mrsmc and Ready.

When are you off Ready?

I saw my gp today and he confirmed that I have an underactive thyroid. He wants to put me on a dose of thyroxin. A very low dose though. I have read up on it and spoken to my SIL, who also has this. Both suggest the dosage should be higher when ttc. I'll start the 25mg this week and be retested in a months time.

Not sure how I feel about this as I want it sorted quickly.

Ready · 22/05/2007 13:46

So sorry I haven't been on here for a wee while - and I haven't the time to chart spot at the moment either. Just wanted to run in for a group hug and make sure everyone is ok???

I know that I am not pregnant this month as life has kind of got in the way of any effort and I didn't ovulate until CD20 - so unless I need to change my name to Mary I think it's probably unlikely this month. I am surprisingly ok with it all - to be honest, I haven't had the time to get upset about it.

I won't be temping next month as we are away for 2 weeks and I just think we could do with having a month off.

Right... gotta dash

MrsMcJnr · 22/05/2007 12:57

Hey ladies hope you are all well. Sorry I have been AWOL for a few days, busy weekend! I had my scan yesterday. We saw a gest sac and yolk in the right place but no HB or fetal pole. I was measuring 5+2 which I think is about right based on OV (would have been 5+6 based on last AF) so the Consultant started me on my Clexane injections and so far I have administered 2 myself and they are not too bad! Have to go back weekly for blood tests and have a re-scan on 5/6 when I should be 7+3/8 to check for viability, fingers crossed!

Now I?ll try and catch up with you ?
