Lose 10 pounds in 7 weeks - anyone like to join me?

MrsMcEasterBunny · 28/03/2007 15:11

Hello we did a thread a bit like this last year and it worked well so I thought I'd try it again.

I have a wedding to go to in 7 weeks and I'd like to lose 10 pounds. I'm going to follow a low fat diet and do more exercise.

I'll post my losses (and any gains) on a Weds morning.

Come and help me!

Lost my gold star i am afraid I have put on 1/4 lb. Going for it next week.

linjasmom · 10/04/2007 23:25

Hi everybody, just a short catch-up before I go to bed (and before the moment of truth tomorrow.... ).
MrsMc - I was a good girl concerning the eggs (had three again today), but I really (literally) enjoyed the barbecue. And thank you for improving my English . By the way, my (American) English teacher in Texas told me to never use the expression "a lot", she just despised that. Had something to do with measuring (?) wood or something like that.
We had two different cakes and I had half a piece of both kinds. Yummy! So much about restraint....
Ready and Theheadgirl - why don't you post the recipes? I would like to have them both!
Everybody else - see you tomorrow!

Good night. XX

Ready · 10/04/2007 22:34

Coggy - 3 cabbages!!! How about shredded in a stir fry?? What on earth is a jerusalem artichoke? Is it one of those things that looks like flower petals?

Eclipse - Well done on no eggs!! But LOL at your top button... what have you had instead of the eggs then?

Iwillbe - Giggle at you being too ashamed to post!! Well done on no eggs! I shared a Green&Blacks egg with DH!

Theheadgirl - I need your recipe for carrot and orange - I am a soup fiend I will trade you my cauliflower recipe
I had a nosy at your profile - your girls look lovely! Oh, and I love Strictly Come Dancing too! We can together!!

MrsMc - LOL at your kiddie portion!! Sounds like a good compromise! I am good ta, feeling positive about some kind of loss this week, my clothes are looser!

Linjasmom - at your Easter BBQ - the weather wasn't quite good enough for that here. Glad you had a lovely time!

Cedar You mean you will be giving up your gold star tomorrow? You never know!! You might get the platinum one!

Roskva - How are you??

Hello to everyone else

eclipse · 10/04/2007 20:09

MrsMc, had to have a sneaky peek at your profile too and have to agree with theheadgirl. That man can wear a kilt. Lucky you.

theheadgirl · 10/04/2007 19:58

I am nervous about tomorrow, I have eaten more chocolate than was strictly necessary
Coggy Sorry, can't help with your glut of organic cabbages! What about coleslaw?? For breakfast, lunch and dinner??
MrsMc Been looking at your profile - SUCH a beautiful wedding dress SUCH a nice man in a kilt!

cedar12 · 10/04/2007 19:37

I dont think I will be getting the gold star tomorrow. Far to many treats!

eclipse · 10/04/2007 14:28

I have survived the weekend with no chocolate and I'm still dreading the weigh in tomorrow. I'm sitting here typing with the top button of my trousers undone just so I can breathe. Not a promising sign...

MrsMcJnr · 10/04/2007 14:25

I've had half an egg, I'm quite impressed with that considering there is another half and another egg in the house!

iwillbepgbydec2007 · 10/04/2007 14:14

b0njour

i have been too ashamed to post this weekend - the diet hasnt been going well!

i have been living off of microwave burgers and crisps most of the weekend - and i cannot stand microwave meals but i had had a few to drink so was the easiest option - on the plus side - i didnt consume one single easter egg!

i have literally written this week off too. but il be more than happy if i can maintain last weeks weight...fingers crossed.

i havnt read a post yet with anyone scoffing easter eggs so i presume you have all been good little bunnys and the eggs are still in your fridge!

coggy · 10/04/2007 11:03

LOL at the child's portion of fish and chips MrsMc......I did this on Thursday but then had a pudding too to make up for it!!!!

Theheadgirl....so...a soup expert eh??!!
Any simple but interesting soups with cabbage?
I have THREE organic cabbages and can't possibly eat them all unless I soup-ize them.

And while I'm at it......what the heck do you do with Jeruslaem artichokes????
So far I have admired them!!!!!

MrsMcJnr · 10/04/2007 09:55

Well, just eaten my last hot crossed bun. I had fish and chips yesterday but I ordered a child?s portion so don?t feel too guilty. Back to being good now. Can?t believe we weigh in again tomorrow, really scared!!!

Hi Linjasmom your Easter eating sounds quite restrained ? only 3 bite sized eggs, I?m very impressed! You cannot eat ?much? by the way but you can eat ?a lot? what did you mean by ½ pieces of cake?

Hey Cogs go to class anyway; you might get a nice surprise! I know what you mean about the booze, I really do best of luck this time round, I?ll have everything crossed for you

Hello Ready ? how are you hon?

Hello theheadgirl ? hope you have a great week this week!

theheadgirl · 09/04/2007 21:16

Hi everyone,
Well thats easter over, I've been reasonably good, and only had a small-ish amount of chocolate. I'm hopeful I've LOST weight this week
Coggy good luck with the IUI - I'm an ex-gynae nurse and remember looking after people having this procedure. Work in a diff. area now though
Ready Cauliflower soup sounds good, I love making soups. They fill you up, but are still virtuous! The current favourtie in headgirl house is carrot and orange.

ovenREADYhotcrossbuns · 09/04/2007 15:36

OOooooooh. Fingers and toes and anything else I can find, firmly crossed for you Coggy - I soooo hope it works out for you.

coggy · 09/04/2007 15:25

Have totally written this week off and feel like I may want to avoid my weigh-in but I know that I mustn't!!!!!

It will get better as I am starting my IUI jabs again tonight and that gives me good enough reason to stop drinking.......a little that I need a good reason!!!
That doesn't sound too good does it??!
So.....a really bad week this week and then angelic old Cogster for the next three weeks I think.

Hope everyone is having a beautifully sunny Easter weekend.
X

linjasmom · 08/04/2007 22:01

Hello everybody!
I am sitting on the sofa, feeling full. We had a really nice Easter sunday and I ate much, hopefully not too much. It was very yummy though. We had a very nice Easter bbq and I have to confess I ate 3 bite-size choc eggs and two half pieces (?) of cake. Don't even want my ice-cream any more today, maybe tomorrow. I hope you all had a great day and have a good one tomorrow. Talk to you later. Bye!!

MrsMcEasterBunny · 08/04/2007 18:47

Happy Easter everyone!

Linjasmom ? bet you are enjoying some ice cream today! I had my first biscuit they?re overrated!

Theheadgirl ? I loved your profile. Your girls are gorgeous and the little one looks like she?d give a great cuddle too It can?t be easy being a lone Mum with 3 girls. You are a girl after my own heart, especially the reading, buying expensive cosmetics and shoes and drinking ice cold G & T (have one in front of me actually! )

Hey Coggy ? fingers crossed for you hon. Sounds like you are having fun with your friend. I?m sure it?s a much needed distraction. I?ve had ½ choc egg today, it was yuuummmmmmmmmyyy!

Cedar ? hope you feel much better soon. Still haven?t been for my first run!

OvenReady ? glad you liked your Rose! (keyboard won?t do accents!)

ovenREADYhotcrossbuns · 08/04/2007 14:31

Happy Easter everybody!!

PinkE - Phew, I misunderstood, sorry. I was worried about you being on an Atkins diet!! Cutting out the processed carbs is good - well done you!

Cedar - I hope you are feeling better soon. Remember don't push yourself when poorly, it takes longer to get better if you do!! You need to get well, then go for it

MrsMc - Great roundup I think we should definitely aim for 10lbs between us all!! I hope I can pull me weight this week!
Oh, I had a couple of glasses of Rosé last night - they were good

Coggy - You can blame AF, and your friend But you should weigh yourself midway through, cos you could lose it by Wednesday

I had a 1/3 of a Green & Blacks Easter Egg, it was de-lish! Also had pizza for dinner - But been really good so far today, the rest of the egg is being ignored. And for lunch I made home-made cauliflower soup! It was yummy.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend

cedar12 · 08/04/2007 08:14

Hello everyone dont know if I will be getting the gold star next week. I have had a few to many treat half a box of chocs last night! but I was quite good only one glass of wine.
Hello pink elephant, Those naughty carbs bloat me to. But I love cakes and things like crumpets with lots of butter. I changed to whole wheat pasta etc and try to cut down a bit and do feel better for it.
Also havent managed so much exercise feeling really tired with my cold and dd waking up at least once or twice a night because shes all bunged up as well. Got to go to work this afternoon so might try and go for a quick jog this morning.

coggy · 07/04/2007 18:35

MrsMc...........

Ready and linjasmom.....I'm not so worried about staying the same now last Weds. My friend has been staying with me and I have put on 3lb in TWO days!!!!!!

Fish and chips the first night and chinese the next!!!!!

AF imminent....can I blame it on that instead??????

Problem is.....now I feel like scoffing my Easter eggs down in one.....I NEED CHOCOLATE!!!!!!!!

about your baker FIL linjasmom.

theheadgirl · 06/04/2007 20:32

Happy easter ladies!
My tipple of choice has changed from wine (150 cals-ish) to gin and slimline tonic (50 cals) But I don't have 3 of them to make up for it.
Whilst on a "weight" theme, check out my profile. DD3 saw her paediatrician yesterday and now weighs 17.5 kg. The child never stops eating, and has just walked up to me to sign "more"! Is there any wonder I'm putting weight on??

linjasmom · 06/04/2007 19:50

MrsMc - LOL at the saint. Wish I were. I've tried that these past weeks during lent and WW but hope I will be able to keep it up after easter. I got some cereal bars with apple that just count 2 points (very yummy), so that's something I could allow myself to have if I really yearn for a goody. And of course some choc or ice-cream, won't do without!!

Will be off now to a lazy evening on the sofa. Bye!

MrsMcEasterBunny · 06/04/2007 15:47

Afternoon ladies Happy Easter to you all!

There are 14 of us on here ? now 15 with PinkElephant . Most of us have survived week 1 . This week between the 10 of us who posted, we lost the total of 7 ½ pounds ? shall we aim for 10 next week?!

Our slinky of the week is iwillbepg in first place followed by Cedar in 2nd ! Fantastic!

4 no posts ? Mumto3girls? Scotia? Kitty? Roskva?

Well done to everyone!

I like your suggestions Eggs4eatser!

I liked yours too OvenReady ours is a wooden biscuit barrel! I gave up biscuits for Lent and other than the 2 choc digestives I had when I found out I?d MC, I?ve stuck to it. None in the house now!

Linjasmom ? you must be a saint, if I want something naughty but nice, fruit and veggies just won?t hit the spot but I?ll try!

Coggy ? it?s great to have you back!

Welcome Pinkelephant

Hello to everyone else too!

Here?s the list of helpful suggestions so far:

? Mine is drink at least 2 litres of water a day if we can
? don?t put off doing today what you should do tomorrow.
? don?t let the choccy bars tempt you, don?t think to yourself that one won?t hurt and i'll start again tomorrow.
? Do not bring the biscuit barrel in with your brew - just what you are allowed to have
? How about if we want to sin to just go and have some fruit or veggie instead?

PinkElephant · 06/04/2007 13:39

Linjasmom and Ovenready - thank you for your concerns about my strange diet, its nice to know you're worrying for me, but really it's fine. All I've done is limit my carb intake which is usually: cereal/porridge at breakfast, sandwich at lunctime and a rice/pasta dish in the evening. You'll be please to hear I am still eating carbs but having them less often rather than at every meal, so I'm having wholemeal pitta bread, potatoes and couscous etc. All I've done is get rid of the proceesed carbs which are bad for you. I think I may have a slight intolerance to carbs/wheat as I get gripes and bloating if eat too many so I've cut them out for this reason and generally feel much better, brighter and not as sluggish. Do not worry....I couldn't cut out carbs completely otherwise I would have no energy. It will be a whole different story when I'm PG and I'm sure I will need carbs all the time for energy, but I'll cross that bridge if it ever happens

linjasmom · 06/04/2007 13:11

PinkElephant - I agree with Ready. I am doing WW at home right now as well and I just wanted to share the news with everybody anyway: after our weigh-in on wednesday and doing lots of walking I have lost another kilo (excited)!! A little more than 2 lbs, I am over the moon. Makes me feel very good about having some choc on sunday ! But back to WW. I am not going to the meetings either but I am convinced that this is the right kind of diet for me as it is well balanced and you can eat whatever you want - as long as it is not too much . I've started about 4 weeks ago after 6 days of fastting and have lost about a stone. Also, everybody I know who has really lost weight (slowly) and kept it off has done it with WW. Am putting on a bit during af as well and always feel bloated, so I guess that's it.

Ready - oh yes! His cookies are yummy but his cakes.... no words to describe them!

I wish you all a happy Easter and many many eggs (well not too many so we will not put on too much ). C-U!

ovenREADYhotcrossbuns · 06/04/2007 12:48

Linjasmom - Yeah, a cookie jar - They are the bane of my life, well, my waistline anyhow!! So now I just bring 1 or 2 in for me, and 4/5 for DH
Your FIL is a baker?? OMG - talk about temptation!

PinkElephant - I personally think that cutting out carbs is a bad idea - the results you get might well be good, at first - but I think it's important to think long-term, and no-one can cut out carbs forever. I do weightwatchers (don't go to the meetings - just follow the points system) and obviously carbs are more points, so I have less of them - but carbs are an essential food group. Especially when ttc, you need a balanced diet. Sorry, for preaching, but things like the atkins diet really worry me!
I find I put on a couple of lbs around my period, so that could explain why you have gained a bit. Welcome aboard, flower... sorry if I sound like a dragon
