Lose 10 pounds in 7 weeks - anyone like to join me?

MrsMcEasterBunny · 28/03/2007 15:11

Hello we did a thread a bit like this last year and it worked well so I thought I'd try it again.

I have a wedding to go to in 7 weeks and I'd like to lose 10 pounds. I'm going to follow a low fat diet and do more exercise.

I'll post my losses (and any gains) on a Weds morning.

Come and help me!

OP posts:
coggy · 13/04/2007 11:24
Hmm
coggy · 13/04/2007 11:23

Urm.........where does the old stuff go????

MrsMcJnr · 13/04/2007 11:23

15 pounds sounds great and I'll aim to lose some of them!

Coggy - V impressed with the run! just think how much new blood you've circulated too - added bonus!

coggy · 13/04/2007 11:21

eclipse....you're so right!!!

I feel all smug and self-satisfied this morning however as I have been for a 5 mile run!!!

WITH A HILL!!!!!!!!

What a perfect little weight-loser am I?!

DH will be taking me out for lunch shortly however..................tell me that the chips are not really calling to me!!!!

eclipse · 12/04/2007 22:51

Cheers, Coggy. Will-power's over-rated.

coggy · 12/04/2007 22:10

Should I be sat here drinking wine when I only decided yesterday that I was going dry for the next fortnight???!!!!

Hurry-up......if we run we may just catch up with my will-power that seems to have left the building!!!!!

.........so soon I have crumbled............

eclipse · 12/04/2007 19:13

Yeah, let's go for a group target. 15lbs for (I think) 14 of us should be do-able.

linjasmom · 12/04/2007 13:11

Sorry Ready! And thanks. I guess you can have it next week... just had a choc egg (do you know Lindor/Lindt?? - delicious!!) and some wine gum. Uh-oh! Later....
Shall we aim at a total of 15 lbs this week? I need some motivation now that I am allowed choc again....

Ready · 12/04/2007 12:15

Darn. I wanted that platinum star!

Here's my Cauliflower Soup recipe - I should say, a lovely MNetter called raspberryberet gave it to me on the recipe threads

1 cauliflower
1 potato
1 onion
28g butter
1 pint veg stock
1 pint milk
Salt and pepper
Nutmeg (optional)

  1. Chop the potato and onion into pieces.
  2. Melt butter in saucepan.
  3. Add potato and onion and sauté
  4. Break the cauliflower into florets add to the pan and sauté until golden.
  5. Add stock, bring to the boil and then simmer for 20 mins until cauliflower is soft.
  6. Add the milk and heat through.
  7. Season
  8. Blend
  9. Serve with grated nutmeg (optional but DE-LISH!)
10. ENJOY

I think I have that right?? It worked for me.

MrsMcJnr · 12/04/2007 11:49

Well done ladies! Some great weight losses to motivate us all for this week! Thank you!

So this week?s summary:

Out of 14 of us, 5 no posters, 0 none movers, 2 went up and a superb 7 went down!

Platinum star of the week goes to Linjasmom with 3.3 off! and Gold star to Ready with 2.5 off! Great work ladies!

Slap round the face with a wet haddock is regretfully received by me

Weight loss total this week was 13.5 pounds

Well done ladies

Mumto3girls ? hon, I wasn?t sure if you stayed the same or went up or down?

Iwillbepg? Scotia? KittyLetteMeEatAnEasterEgg? Roskva70percentcocoa? Have we lost you?

OK, finished reading. MrsMc and Ready, I have absolutely no idea what dear Mrs K meant with that wood-thing. She thought the expression "a lot" was too informal, but I don't know what she was talking about. Thought at first she meant a "log", but that does not make sense at all. Have to admit I was 17 at the time and too shy to ask her to explain again. The American students did not understand either. Mrs Mc, you are def no hag!!
Mumto3girls, I am sure you are no heifer!
I have another recipe to share if anybody wants it? It's a low-point-dip that's great with potatoes.
Good luck to all of us for the next week now. I fear I might be stuck, it just went too well this week and I have that OK-I-was-good-let-me-have-a-goodie-feeling now. Help!
Talk to you later now....

OK, decided to post weight-loss first and then read new posts. I have lost 3.3 lbs, about one and a half kilos. Have to admit though that I've lost that before the weekend and just kept it. Lots of walking! Be back in a little while now, have to read your posts!

PMSL at you and your patients headgirl!
No shouting at the woman this week Ready...too busy being pleasantly shocked at the pound loss!
Good effort to you too on your mammoth Easter losses.
eclipse...if you've been running...then you damn well deserve that pound!!

theheadgirl · 11/04/2007 14:36

Hurrah, after putting on weight last week, I'm please to say I've LOST 2LBS!! So now I'm 9st 7lb.
I'm sneakily typing this from work, will check in again later. Off to finish off the patients (in a non-illegal way of course!)

Ready · 11/04/2007 13:34

MrsMc ? Oh honey. Hug. Don?t be so hard on yourself, it was Easter and you have visitors. That is the hardest time to lose weight. Just let it motivate you for this week. That?s how I always feel when I let things slip ? use it as an incentive! And don?t forget AF is in town ? it makes a difference!

Coggy ? PMSL at the way of dealing with tricky veg Those things look really nice, don?t know what to do with one ? would leave it to rot in my fridge too Good luck at your weigh-in tonight, no arguing with the lady this week

Mum03 ? Well done on the loss, shame on your for giving it to a fellow dieter though Miss you on the temp thread ? hope you are ok?

Mumto3girls ? I think it helps to have others on here to support each other! Together we can share recipes and incentives!! We can do it

Cedar ? Don?t worry, as Coggy says, ¼ of a lb is hardly anything!

Linjasmom ? Will post my cauliflower recipe later. It is lovely, and quite virtuous

I am really pleased ? I lost 2 and a ½ lbs

Hope everyone else is ok??

eclipse · 11/04/2007 13:19

In theory it looks like there's another pound off this week but I weighed myself after a very long, sweaty run so I know it's all water. But still, as long as I don't drink anything for the next week or so, maybe it'll stay off.

In reality I don't think I've lost anything this week. My weakness is alcohol. Not drinking too much of it but eating too much when I've had a few. All good intentions fly away. Haven't solved that one yet.

Apparently our weight can vary by a few pounds a day so the 'on' people, try not to worry too much unless it's still there next week.

mumto3girls - well done on coming out to us, now we can work together to get to be how we want to be. I certainly have some work to do to get to where I want to be.

mumto3girls · 11/04/2007 12:28

Okay..I'll admit it. I weigh 12 stone 5..( run and hides )...

It's the most I havewighed in my life and I can't stop comfort eating!!

MrsMcJnr · 11/04/2007 11:49

Oh Mumto3girls ? sorry it?s not worked for you this week either, it was Easter though! I do think this thread will help us, I feel the shame today anyway! Bet you are not a heifer at all! You?re probably right about my hormones!

Well done Mum03 off is off!!

MrsMc - please don't be too rough on yourself, {{{hugs}}} to you.

Cedar - seems you got my 1/4lb when I sent it away I obviously did not throw it far enough....! Please feel free to pass it onto someone who is not dieting and not back to me for next week

I was just relieved not to have put on any weight this week, now easter-egg season is over, perhaps we will all do better?

mumto3girls · 11/04/2007 10:07

Mrs MJr - I can't even bring myself to put my weight up on here! I weigh more than I did the day I went in hospital to have dd3 who weighed 9lbs 8oz!!

I am a heifer - I've seen your pics you are not a hag and you're just hormonal today. Cheer up and have another bite of egg - then just do the Davina Mcall video again!!

MrsMcJnr · 11/04/2007 10:04

Coggy ? sorry, crossed with you, hope tonight goes well for you!

MrsMcJnr · 11/04/2007 10:03

Oh dear I could cry, really, feel like a fat, miserable, exhausted hag this morning Must try an awful lot harder!

I know you won?t be happy Cedar so better luck next week!

Linjasmom ? how bizarre about your teacher not liking ?a lot? that?s a great way of explaining how much I eat in my opinion! I think it?s fine to use in this context don?t you ladies?

coggy · 11/04/2007 09:58

Cedar...I was just going to post something about pressure being at the top!!!
You never know.....what with Easter and all...you still may win...after all 1/4 lb isn't hardly anything.

Ready...the artichokes are like flower petal things...I don't need to worry about them now though as I got one out this morning and it had gone moudly!!!! Ooops! One way to deal with tricky fruit and veg I suppose!!!!

Linjasmum.....was the 'a lot' to do with measuring wood? [confused emoticon]

I am dreading the weigh-in tonight.....not even got on my scales this morning as I think it will put me off going!!!!!
Oh well......I'll be back on later tonight to tell all and catch up with everyone else's losses (hopefully).
