Lose 10 pounds in 7 weeks - anyone like to join me?

Hello we did a thread a bit like this last year and it worked well so I thought I'd try it again.

I have a wedding to go to in 7 weeks and I'd like to lose 10 pounds. I'm going to follow a low fat diet and do more exercise.

I'll post my losses (and any gains) on a Weds morning.

Come and help me!

Ready - WW re-jigged the whole thing and you're are now allowed less points a day but they add a certain amount of milk on top to make sure you have enough calcium so it's not really free.

Shall we be brave and post our weights and aims? I?ll be brave and go first.

Scotia ? I got to target with Scottish Slimmers in 2001 but it?s all creeped back on and some!

linjasmom ? congratulations on the weight loss, that?s fantastic! there are 2.2 pounds in a Kg.

Coggy ? that?s right! The return of the Twiglett thread you were always my inspiration too and Juicy kept me off the booze mid week! (do you remember our plush wagon?! ) Yes, I think we should confess!

Eclipse ? You?ve done so well and it is so hard, maybe you just needed a wee break but you can get back on track with us, I love the idea of the ickle note book I have a food diary too, most days it reads like a shopping list I tend to need a good kick up the backside too! So please be mean if I don?t do what I say I will! I will start the running, at the weekend

Theheadgirl you are very welcome here, part of the reason for doing this is distraction from TTC so your presence will help us! same for you linjasmom.

Yum03 ? what was the hot chocolate made with and where did you have it?

How about we all post our weaknesses and then when we manage to get though the day without them, we can reward ourselves and each other with a ?

Here?s mine:

Weakness: M&S chocolate flapjacks, chocolate, wine

More of: fruit, exercise

Less of: pre processed food for lunch

This week I will try to: take up running & take packed lunches to work.

Coggy - Hi!! I am doing WW, not going to meetings though... too shy I have the pure points books from years ago - I wonder how much has changed, if anything? I thought someone told me that skimmed milk was now free?? That's great going on the 9.5lbs in 5 weeks!! Good for you What's the "weight confession thing"??

Yum - I think it depends on what type of hot choc it was?? Was it with milk or boiled water? Sugar or no??

coggy · 29/03/2007 14:25

Blimy MrsMc..........the twiglet thread is back!!!!!!

I'm in........I've lost 9 1/2 pounds in 5 weeks at Weight Watchers but started to get bored and not do it properly the past two weeks so this thread could not have come at a better time!

Hiya Ready......and several people that I don't know yet!!!!

Are we doing the weight confession thing?

Linjasmom....I don't think anyone has said it yet (sorry if I am repeating)....1 kg is equivalent to 2.2 pounds.
HTH.

yum03creameggs · 29/03/2007 12:36

It looks like we have a good group of us now. So first question - does a mug of hot chocolate (that I have just had , count as being naughty???

linjasmom · 29/03/2007 12:00

Ooops, am not ttc atm, but I guess will be in a while (I hope). I thought losing weight before ttc might be a good thing for me to do though, soooo.... here I am!

theheadgirl · 28/03/2007 22:25

Ok, I'll join in for weight loss attempt, if thats OK and just be a TTC supporter

ovenREADYhotcrossbuns · 28/03/2007 22:11

theheadgirl just cos you are not ttc doesn't mean you can't join us!!

theheadgirl · 28/03/2007 22:08

Bugger, I'm not TTC ladies! Just spotted which topic this thread is in. Sorry for intruding, good luck gals and will watch from a distance

theheadgirl · 28/03/2007 22:06

I want to join!! I am not technically overweight, but at 9st 8lb and 5'2" I'm the heaviest I've ever been whilst not pregnant. To be 8st 12lb would be great. I'm not exercising at all, and comforting eating like its an olympic sport. This has to stop, so count me in!

linjasmom · 28/03/2007 22:00

I am off to bed ladies, talk to you later!!

eclipse · 28/03/2007 21:58

MrsMc, have you reached any decisions about the running thing (saw your message on another thread). I may not be the best person to advise because as I mentioned, I love it so can clearly not be of sound mind, but if you have somewhere nice (away from main roads), safe and enjoyable to run, it is a relaxing and manageable way to get fit. It's very easy to start as long as you take it slowly and build up gradually.

The main problem for me with running is that I feel so noble afterwards that I eat double my body weight in toast and re-hydrate with sauvignon blanc.

eclipse · 28/03/2007 21:52

Fab, Ready. Well, I don't propose to list what I eat every day but I hereby swear to fess up to all shamingly embarrasing moments of sheer gluttony and I'll face the court of mumsnet and Judge Ready for sentencing.

ovenREADYhotcrossbuns · 28/03/2007 21:33

Eclipse - You can rely on me to be on your case I can be a right PITA!!

eclipse · 28/03/2007 21:27

And I'm ashamed to say my last chocolate was my son's chocolate pudding which I ate on his behalf yesterday. When I gave it to him I kind of knew he wouldn't eat it and possibly suspected I might end up polishing it off (hate to see it wasted). It didn't even taste that great but it said chocolate on the label and it drew me in with its hypnotic rays.

eclipse · 28/03/2007 21:24

yum03, you possibly didn't need to mention the chocolate addiction. Your seasonal name rather gives the game away. I'm like you and have avoided the weight loss threads so far.

When I signed up to this one a few minutes ago I then thought, oh, no, now they'll all be on my case but now I have to confess, that's probably what I need. Naming and shaming and lots of bullying if I fail weigh ins please. I'll try to be supportive of you lot if that's what you need but I need to have a scary voice in my head saying 'Shut the fridge, walk away with your hands empty and your mouth closed or we'll be round to staple your lips together' - stuff like that.

ovenREADYhotcrossbuns · 28/03/2007 21:22

Yum - Chocoholics Anon... I am a member of the Breadandcheese-aholics Anon!!

linjasmom · 28/03/2007 21:15

thanks eclipse.... if I can at least lose 1-2 pounds per week, I think ww does wonders for me. Will get the ww-point-book-thing soon (don't know what it is called in English, where you find all kinds of things you can buy in all kinds of shops with point values), so that should make life easier for me then.

yum03creameggs · 28/03/2007 21:13

OK ok, I avoided the post-christmas weight loss thread successfully, and managed to put on a further 4lbs in the meantime, so it is time for me to 'fess up and say
"my name is yum03 and I am a chocoholic and exercise avoider. My last chocolate was 30 mins ago. I have not done exercise for weeks, and I can feel the difference it makes to me!"

Current weight 11st 11 1/2 lbs.
Target is to lose 10 lbs in 7 weeks so that means that by the 16th May I will be 11st 1lb or less.

linjasmom · 28/03/2007 21:11

thanks ready, x-posted again....
just want to add that I am NOT abominably (sp?) fat but had trouble with my thyroid (back in order now) and would like to lose what I put on. Put on weight whithout eating, THAT was frustrating!

P.S.: Of course you cannot call me skinny either....

eclipse · 28/03/2007 21:09

Well done, linjasmom, that's a good lot of weight to lose.

linjasmom · 28/03/2007 21:07

Well, just tried to look it up on wikipedia and found out I want to lose about 3 stone . Also found out I lost 11 pounds these past three weeks. {don't know if I should use or emoticon}....

eclipse · 28/03/2007 21:05

Count me in. I was 3 lbs from my target weight a few weeks ago and have just put on 7 lbs as if by magic. How is that possible?
Anyway, I've been trying to get back to pre-preggo weight of 11st 7lbs for ages but am still just over 12st (I'm a strapping 6 footer).
I am such a saddo I love running and do about 10 miles a week but that doesn't seem to be enough. Need to cut the snacks and post-wine scoffing.
I find Ready's suggestion of a food diary helpful. I use a tiny notepad that goes everywhere with me. The pages are so small that they sort of limit what I can have in a day.

ovenREADYhotcrossbuns · 28/03/2007 21:00

Linjasmom - Just found out that 5 kilos is just over 11 lbs!!! So well done!!
