Hi all, thought I'd get the ball rolling on the new thread.

Welcome all with immune/natural killer cell issues.

It's been a while since a new thread so thought it might be helpful if we all added our stats:

I'm harriet, age 30, TTC#1.
3 mcs (2 at 5 weeks, 1 mmc at 9 weeks).
Hypothyroid and high NK cells.
Cycle 2 on pred!

Can I attach photos on here? I'll send you the supplements he said to get. I doubt them can do any harm so yes I'd probably just do that (obvs I'm no dr though 😉) x

Tee4me · 02/09/2017 21:02

Ooo interesting Soph. Wonder if the DNA in sperm deteriorates with age. DH is only 34 so I kinda ruled out that anything could be wrong there. Hmmm tempted to test now. Unless these supplements are available to all and I can put him on them anyway, just in case x

Tee4me · 02/09/2017 20:57

Great news on the scan Drttc! I'm sure you will feel lots better in the glorious second trimester.
Thanks for your account Take, really interesting that the test uncovered an issue. What supplement did Dr S recommend, maybe I should just get DH on it anyway, if it's just a supplement/vitamin as opposed to prescribed medication?? Really hope it improves your chances. On the Pred front I would take it tomorrow, but that's only because I'm confident I ovulate within 24 hours of a peak opk. If you're not as sure, I'd agree with the others and plump for Monday x

SophS88 · 02/09/2017 20:47

Hi Tee4me... I've pregnancies this year- all ending in MC so I too thought husbands sperm was fine. I didn't want to pay an extra £400 for the spent coment test but we did and it also showed my husband had spent damage which can lead to a higher risk of MC. We bought the supplments (surprise surprise these were expensive!) that Mr S recommended.

I love reading all your updates ladies. It's so comforting to know we are all going through it.

I waited an extra day to take the pred this time. Only because I had 2 full days of positive OPK's so I usually just it 12/36hours post my peak surge not my first. Plus I thought it give me an extra day to wait past ovulation to test (not that I actually wait!) but I worry I'll come off the pred on day 10 and actually be pregnant but it not actually show yet.

Luna- so sorry you are out this cycle 😔. I was out last cycle. I was distraught. I'm usually really negative but that cycle I was so positive and thought I kept seeing all these signs... I said to my husband I like the name India... next think an order at work (I'm a florist) came in for someone called India so I was convinced. Then I was watching the trashy to show naked attraction (in secreteky gripped) and Emma Willis was wearing a shirt with rainbows... I was so taken aback when my test was a negative. It never gets easier does it... but really hope next cycle is your month.

Really pleased for those of you who are doing well and tapering off the Pred. 😘

Ps. I'm also eating like a horse and also feel huge. I run quite a bit too and since all of this fertility stuff I am so careful and do hardly anything. Then in the 10day wait I'm scared to get my heart rate up to much so I just keep eating! Mr S said it's ok to carry on as morning but my last gynaecologist and accupuncturist are bit advocates on testing and not pushing things. I know some women can continue to run marathons etc into pregnancy but I'm so scared to jeopardise anything.
Pps... my chin has gotten so Harry! Started electrolysis!!!

Keep up the good work warriors xx

Drttc · 02/09/2017 16:00

Thanks Luna and Take!

Oh no Luna I'm sure 36 hours is fine! Nothing's stopping Ovulation at that point I bet!

Take4 · 02/09/2017 15:54

Thank you Justla Luna and Drtcc I will take the pred on Monday morning and will keep fingers and toes crossed.

I am sure 36 hours is fine Luna - I took pred from moment of static face which I am sure was too early! It just wasn't meant to be last time for you and me, next time Smile

Justla so pleased you're starting to get more sleep and don't have too much longer on the pred!!!

Drttc sorry you're feeling so poorly but thanks for the update re your scan, great news! Difficult waiting for scans - I would want one daily! - but it sounds like your bubba is doing really well!!

LunaB · 02/09/2017 15:44

Duh and fabulous news re scan Drttc! Miserable for you feeling so rough but the wee bean is thriving 💓 - this is just the most epic success story considering you're going it med-free!

LunaB · 02/09/2017 15:37

I feel I took my Pred about 36 hours after static face... so maybe I jilted ovulation out a bit? 48 hours seems a safer bet...

Drttc · 02/09/2017 15:15

Sorry about the BFN Luna :-( Nice glass of wine will go down well this weekend!

Take I agree that I'd take pred after you're certain you've ovulated- so ~48 hrs from static face

How are you feeling Harriet and seeking ? Have you got any ideas about your nuchal scans?

Justla its so nice to be at the second trimester and weaning of pred stage!

Drttc · 02/09/2017 15:11

Hi ladies! Sorry I've been so rubbish lately. Still feeling poorly all day every day and just want to sleep all the time. But as I'd mentioned my scan today I wanted to update so everyone knew things went well! Baby looked great and measured 8 weeks+6 days (I'm 8 weeks+4). I have my first midwife appointment on Monday and hoping I get a date for my 12 week scan soon. I'm going to need to try REALLY hard not to get a scan before then and having a date may help me resist...

LunaB · 02/09/2017 13:46

I really don't know Take! The flashy face means that you will ovulate in the next 24/36 hours... so that could be today from around 7pm... so I recon bosh the Pred tomorrow morning?

I hate the Pred roulette!

Oh god so now I'm thinking about crappy sperm!

JustLa · 02/09/2017 13:04

Omg.... I'm sorry for that. I was trying to paste a post from earlier and it wasn't showing, so I re wrote it.
What a bloomin mess... SORRY

Seekingmiracles · 02/09/2017 13:03

Hopefully your DHs sperm will be better after the supplements... it takes 3 months for new sperm to work they way out so fingers crossed you won't be siting for too long for your bfp. I'd take it Monday am just to be sure. Won't make much difference in the immune front either way.

Happy anniversary Harriet, missed that earlier. Hope the wedding isn't too hard for you to be sneaky with your drinks!
I've got on in two weeks but I'll be past the first trimester then and will tell people. People would guess with me anyway.. I like a good glass (or 4!) of wine! Haha!

JustLa · 02/09/2017 13:02

Hi Take4, I think the ladies in here agreed it was day after peak ovulation. I took mine on day of peak ovulation. So either is probably fine. Am sure they may me some more scientific responses to come!

Working on a Saturday AND you're dealing with a stressful pregnancy! Poor you Seeking.

I thought it was Drttc's scan day too Luna- if so, good luck Drttc 🤞🏻

Observation on pred that may interest some, im on my last day of 2 tabs a day - tapering off. My sleeping patterns have been sketchy during pregnancy, 5-6h per night of broken sleep (waking up several times throughout night) but now I'm sleeping more solidly but with very crazy dreams!! So if anyone is having sleep problems from pred, you can look forward to some relief and funny dreams!

Poppy, are you able to try this month? I lost track during the Zika investigations

Pred report- am down to my last day of 2 tabs and tomorrow will be taking 1 pill for 4 days then off. I can report better more solid sleep already- and waking up later too. And unfortunately a bit of nausea earlier in the day. Just thought this may be a comfort interest for those having sleep problems 😊

Xxx

Hi all

Sorry Luna that was me last month and it's so disappointing isn't it? I think my subconscious was convinced it would happen as I was now seeing Dr S, taking pred and therefore everything would just fall into place! We just gotta keep going and as you say be grateful for what we have. It's so easy to forget to live our precious lives while trying to conceive.

Happy anniversary Harriet hope the sun shines for you both on Sunday!

Tee4mee my partner had the test you are talking about and it did show significant sperm damage which could be playing a part in our miscarriages. He now takes a supplement recommended by Dr S and will also be seeing a specialist at the clinic to hopefully find out reasons and further treatment. We were shocked as I've had 3 pregnancies with him but they have all ended in miscarriage so who knows.

I know there was a discussion about this but can I just ask what the consensus was on when to start taking pred? Was it 24hrs after static face or 48hrs? I tested twice yesterday, flashing face in the morning and then static at 7pm. Should I start taking on Sunday am or Monday am, don't want to get it wrong! Grin

Thanks you lovely people. Glad to be on this tumultuous journey with you all. Xx

LunaB · 02/09/2017 09:18

Interesting Seeking! Yes only the golden eggs from now please body, you crazy weirdo...

Hope work flies by and everyone else enjoys pottering/weddings etc. ☀️

Sheepy1980 · 02/09/2017 08:35

Have a good day everyone I am off to a craft workshop with one of my favourite artists this morning then back to do housework and cook tea.
Have a good day

Seekingmiracles · 02/09/2017 08:26

My weight definitely levelled out once I was off it completely last time... I hope it does the same this time round!! Blush

Sorry your out this month Luna, but use it to enjoy all the lovely things you can't do if pg ... like wine!!
Also I think a lot of recurrent miscarriers tend to fall pg very quickly, I read an interesting article once that suggested some women's bodies accept eggs that aren't perfect too readily and which wouldn't result in a viable pregnancy anyway... just think that your body is being more selective now and waiting for the best egg! I'm sure you won't be waiting too long!

Hope you all have fab weekends... I'm off to work! Eurghhhh!

LunaB · 02/09/2017 07:46

Tee, I read an interesting article that those taking 5+mg of Pred for more than 7 days can suffer extreme indigestion as part of the withdrawals - sounds like what you had Hun!! Ouch!!

Sheepy, I've found the Pred did nothing to my appetite, but it has made swollowing painful and given me a 5 day killer headache! (Apparently 5/100 people get these symptoms - great 🙄) - good news is that apparently when we come off the Pred for good, we may lose weight 👌👌 but then we'll be pregnant so might not feel super skinny lol!

Drttc I think it's scan day today!!? ❤️

Sheepy1980 · 01/09/2017 23:53

Smoothies seem to be keeping hunger at bay. Just focusing on the end goal

JustLa · 01/09/2017 21:51

I'm tapering off pred Sheepy, thought the hunger would go but alas... I'm still eating like a pig! Trying to fill myself with home made soup rather than choccy and chips... good luck with staying healthy!

JustLa · 01/09/2017 21:48

Oh sorry Luna, I know you must be so disappointed ❤️ Face plant the ice cream and appreciate a smooth face for another month. Sending moonface love your way- A Gemini June baby! You'll be giving birth when all the winter bugs have vacated the hospitals so that's gotta be a plus!

Happy anniversary Harriet! What a great way to celebrate your love for each other, by rubbing your lil miracle bump together.
How are your symptoms? Interfering with work?
I totally agree with the single parent thing. So many women have children under really difficult conditions, addiction, poverty, severe mental and physical disabilities- she will do great :)

Hi Tee, I did one with my GP (not actually WITH him but he booked for hubby to go to hospital for one) but Mr S didn't suggest or ask for one. Maybe you could just get an NHS freeby if you're interested to know? Hope everything else is good with you.

Happy Friday pred heads 💕💕

Xx

Tee4me · 01/09/2017 21:47

Ah Happy Anniversary for Sunday Harriet!
Well interestingly this leaflet was to do with semen quality and miscarriage (a separate issue from semen quality and failing to conceive) They review the DNA of the swimmers to decipher if that could be contributing to MC, so I assumed he was recommending to all his patients. It's £400 so I might just ask him to explain it again on my next follow up. I wonder what you could even do if the DNA came back as poor.

Sorry Luna, we will follow in Harriet's footsteps and strike gold in round 2 ✌🏻👊🏻
Well done Sheepy! I resisted our usual Friday Indian takeaway (after last weeks indigestion episode), and had a healthy salmon noodle salad with tonnes of veg. But then I pigged out on a humungous chocolate eclair for pud, whoops! 🙈

Sheepy1980 · 01/09/2017 21:32

Well bbt started this morning missed the opportunity to do the clear blue monitor but I will see how bbt and opk's do. DH is away this weekend and I am working Sunday so will have a snuggle Sunday when he is home.
I am fed up of the hunger when on Pred, but today have not had anything unhealthy even turned down Birthday Cake 2 days in a row. But I need to loose weight.

harrietm87 · 01/09/2017 20:32

Aw luna I'm sorry. I'm pretty sure it took me a month to get used to the pred, and then it happened in month 2 for me - have faith! And how lovely would a June baby be!
