Hi all, thought I'd get the ball rolling on the new thread.

Welcome all with immune/natural killer cell issues.

It's been a while since a new thread so thought it might be helpful if we all added our stats:

I'm harriet, age 30, TTC#1.
3 mcs (2 at 5 weeks, 1 mmc at 9 weeks).
Hypothyroid and high NK cells.
Cycle 2 on pred!

Tee... seems so early to test in my opinion... and even 2 days after AF was due the test I took was so hard to read that I thought I'd imagined it! That's why it scares me to come off the Pred on day 10, as I won't feel sure until 3/4 days later!

PoppyJ1 · 22/08/2017 20:57

Oh, Sheepy, meant to say I'm sorry to hear about your situation. It could take a few weeks for your cycles to be predictable again. I think up to six weeks is completely normal...

PoppyJ1 · 22/08/2017 20:48

Waiting4change, thank you so much for saying that and for updating us. Congratulations on your little rainbow and sorry for all the pain you went through on the way.

I needed to hear that because I have those thoughts of failure too and sometimes feel like the fact I can't always see a good outcome means I won't get one. I know that's silly but good to be reminded! You're so right that no one talks about miscarriage. People talk in hushed voices about anyone who announces their pregnancy early, as though, heaven forbid someone would have to admit they had a miscarriage. Sometimes it annoys me when people who don't know me well do the ticking biological clock thing at me or talk to me about pregnancy in an educational tone assuming I've never been there, of course, because I don't have a child. Only occasionally I feel brave enough to say well actually...But I find every time I open up to someone I feel comfortable with, she says she's had a few herself, or her sister or close friend has.

Tee, sorry to bury my reply in such a long post! Basically I strongly suspected I didn't ovulate because I had no signs and I didn't get a positive OPK for two months (March and April). By May I had the full works again. This isn't foolproof because I never got an OPK the cycle I got pregnant second time, but I didn't test religiously that time because I'd had an MC 3 weeks previously and wasn't expecting to be back to normal so quickly. I'm not actually on the Mr S plan, I see Professor Conway, a top endocrinologist and gynae at UCLH and The London Claremont Clinic because we think my problem is due to an underlying endocrine condition I have. I tested negative for antiphosphilipid syndrome and I have excellent AMH and FSH levels, but I haven't been tested for anything else yet because we think the Pred will fix the endo business.

Tee4me · 22/08/2017 20:38

Oooo Luna that's interesting! I'm not due AF until Sunday. Will be Saturday if I was correct suspecting that I ovulated a day earlier this month x

Tee4me · 22/08/2017 20:36

Waiting4change what lovely words! It's so encouraging to hear success stories, especially under the care of Dr S! I can't wait for my rainbow and I'm so delighted that you have yours after so many years of heartache. Just wonderful x

LunaB · 22/08/2017 20:24

Lovely to hear waiting! And sorry for the slog you've had, but wonderful you have your baby finally! I totally get the feelings you talk about... I'm sure we all do!

We are a brave, powerful squad of amazing ladies and I'm certain we will all prevail!

LunaB · 22/08/2017 20:21

Oh sheepy 😩😩😩 the saga never ends! Hun I can't wait to hear you tell us you had a healthy baby - and hopefully in 10/11 months time!

waiting4change · 22/08/2017 20:20

Hi everyone

I was just browsing the active discussions on here and I spotted this, and (apologies to all) although I haven't read all your posts, I just felt I had to say this.

I gave birth to my rainbow baby in April after a difficult time of recurrent losses over a period of 4 years. I went to Dr S after giving up hope - and then followed his plan for high nk cells and within 7 cycles it worked. I was astounded every time I went to the clinic for a scan and saw a baby - I really had reached the stage where I thought I would never be a mum. No kind words or positive stories could convince me in those dark days that I would one day have a baby.

Nobody talks about losing a baby. Let alone losing three or more. I felt defective, hopeless and a failure to my husband and family. I never realised, until it happened to me, just how many women go through it daily and quite how much some of us will endure to get our rainbows.

So just wanted to send a hug to all you magnificent brave women. I wish you all your rainbows. You deserve only good things, and you are going to be wonderful mothers.

X

LunaB · 22/08/2017 20:20

Tee, with my DS I got a negative test the day before AF was due! Ended going out and getting bladdered thinking I wasn't pregnant (to my horror 2 days later when I retested!) And with my other pregnancies I was never certain until 1/2 days before AF...

Tee4me · 22/08/2017 20:14

Just/Harriet/Luna I think you're right, I'll test again Thursday morning, just on the off chance. I'd kick myself if there was a miracle bfp next week and I missed several days medication! c

Tee4me · 22/08/2017 20:11

Sorry for the uncertainty Take4 & Sheepy 😞 This whole palava is stressful enough without not knowing where you stand! How frustrating that the pred can affect ovulation! Poppy how did you know you didn't ovulate for those months? Did you just never get a peak opk/smiley face? I'm now considering temping again in case there's any uncertainty next month. How many months have you been on the plan now?

Sheepy1980 · 22/08/2017 20:00

I agree Luna I am all frustrated again because Af has not shown yet and have cramps and thrush again. But know it is not possible due to D&C and although I ovulated and dtd the day before scan and then found I needed the d&c so who knows

LunaB · 22/08/2017 19:41

It's frustrating Girls; we just need to get pregnant and then sit back and let these drugs work their magic... 😩

PoppyJ1 · 22/08/2017 18:37

Tee, hope you're not too disappointed. I must say I have been outraged every time I have got a BFN since starting on the Pred, because prior to that I always got pregnant first hit.

Take4, sorry to hear the Pred is messing with you. It does settle down. I didn't ovulate the first two months on it but now then I started to. My doc has me on a low dose all the time so I don't have to worry about the timing of the O days.

Take4 · 22/08/2017 16:38

Hi all

Lovely reading about all the new / progressing pregnancies am so delighted for you all and hopeful for the rest of us.

I am not preggers this month....in fact my cycle is all over the place which is annoying. Trying to stay positive but it's always hard on the first day, I tend to need a couple of days and then I am back fighting fit and ready to try again. Next time I'll wait to take the pred....... Confused

Onwards and upwards!

LunaB · 22/08/2017 14:46

All I could eat was bread at your stage Harriet! But as with Just... it passed! 🐽

Just I can imagine!!! It is REAL... it's wonderful and your... girl (haha guessing) will be perfect 💓

JustLa · 22/08/2017 13:59

Tee, me and Harriet don't trust early tests! Lol. It is worth testing again in a couple of days, just in case it was too early and you need to jump on the meds (if you can face it) I had my intralipids at 5 weeks and no probs with that :)

Poppy, I know- I'm so silly!!! And ty x
Awwww a Christmas bump is what I'm wishing for you and us all 😊❤️⭐️🙏🏻

Lun, the gender thing was crazy! I just started blubbing and hubby couldn't take it in. It's so so real now we know what it is!! Freaking me out a little as feel even more connected now.

Harriet that's funny, I was MAD for OJ, then it changed to apple juice. Sugary stuff like chocolate made me feel so nauseous as your stage but unfortunately that passed... salt cravings from 5-8 weeks, tuna and fish (have to really limit tuna) olives, crisps.
Right now, it's fresh tomato soup, omg, I can't get enough! Greggs do a mean and tasty one mmmm

xxx

harrietm87 · 22/08/2017 12:39

Oh and I've totally gone off chocolate which is unheard of for me. I keep buying it out of habit and then not being able to eat/finish it! Def a good thing!

Love it luna!

poppy the time will fly in, and holidays are perfect for baby making!

Wow just so exciting you're weaning off the pred. Keep us posted on how you're feeling.

Preggers people - have you had any cravings/aversions yet? I have become obsessed with oranges and orange juice - just can't get enough!

🎄 👶🏼 for all xx

PoppyJ1 · 22/08/2017 10:31

Hi all,

Trying to catch up on everything now cos I've been away this weekend!

Super news on the latest scans Harriet and Drttc, congrats!

JustLa, stop worrying about the wind! What an amazing milestone for you, basically second trimester. Big congrats Hun.

Thanks all for the Christmas pregnancy aspiration! Definitely all over that one too. Will be trying next in late September when DP and I have a holiday together.

Tee4me · 22/08/2017 08:47

Thank you girls 😘
I've never tested early before while TTC, I've always waited to be a couple of days late, so this is new territory for me! I'm definitely accepting it as a 'no' for this month and won't be testing again unless something significant happens to get my hopes up. My 2 biggest symptoms with previous BFPs is hot skin and nose bleeds. I'm feeling really positive still, and although we've been trying since December 2015, it feels like month 1 because I'm on the treatment plan now. I've got a good feeling I'll fall by Christmas!
Annoyingly I can't get out of the Wedding. I'm doing a reading and going with 1 other friend. We won't know anyone else there and we already had dramas when it was looking like she wouldn't be able to make it at one point. They know my history with miscarriages but they would still view it as a poor excuse... unless Dr S specifically advised me not to fly! 🤔 I know she would never let me forget it if I missed her Wedding.

LunaB · 22/08/2017 08:23

Oh I'm sorry Tee, but I hope you'll test over the next few days as well?

Annoying re wedding... but if you are preg just ditch everything and get your drip- nothing else matters... (I'm A terrible flyer too... and I travel a lot for work so totally get the idea that it's a lot of stress for a baby!)

I keep telling myself it can take a while to fall pregnant and not to stress... easier said than done

Keep testing tho ok xxxx

harrietm87 · 22/08/2017 08:21

Oh tee do you think it's a definite bfn though? What dpo have got bfps in the past? And do you have any symptoms? It's still so early - maybe see how you feel over the next couple of days? You're right about the thyroxine silver lining though, and it's also great you haven't found the pred too bad.

Totally understand the planning for next cycle feeling. If AF is due during the wedding though it's still ok to get the intralipids once you're back. I got bfp (actually on the day of a wedding in Ireland!) on a Saturday and had my intralipids the following Thursday. If you want to avoid going anyway though it's a good excuse! Hope you're ok today.

Tee4me · 22/08/2017 07:27

Nada for me on a FRER. Ah well, don't feel too bad about it in all honesty, hadn't got my hopes up too much. The only annoying thing is the timings for my September cycle; will be due AF the day of a wedding over in Ireland, so if on the off chance we're successful next month, I'll want to stay low key and do the infusion rather than flying (I'm quite a nervous flyer) so I'd be worried about the emotional and physical stress so early on. Brain working overtime. I think it helps me to distract from an unsuccessful cycle, planning for the next. Healthy eating and exercise on the agenda, plus my body will have had more time to sync with the Thyroxine, so there's a silver lining.
Hope others have had a better start to the day! x
