Hello I'm 23 and I've just had my implant removed last Monday. I'm taking pregnacare supplements, is there anything else I can do? Also when I started having sex at 16 I had about 2 years of unprotected sexual and never fell pregnant. Which looking back worries me a bit because my periods were always irregular and sometimes I couldn't go to work because they were so bad like sometimes I had sickness, extremely heavy bleeds, very painful, a temperature etc. I went to the Doctor but they said it was normal. Thanks in advance Smile

Also I had a check this year when I was screened at my last check before that was 2years prior and everything came back negative.

I can promise I have been checked.

I did give you advice. Not trying to make you feel bad - just that unfortunately some of the mistakes you made when you were younger may impact you now - you need to have another std check before trying for sure - seee link. most important thing is to work out when you are ovulating and to time sex accordingly.

As above it, you can download apps which track your temperature, cervical mucus etc to pin down ovulation day. I had irregular periods as a teen, came off the pill at 23 to TTC, since having DD I have had very regular periods and less painful than when I was younger.

Assuming you are all clear for STI's just see how you get on for a few months. You also only need folic acid at this stage.

You might find your periods are regular now that you're a bit older - mine were always all over the place before I went on the pill at 18, but when I came off 9 years later they were regular as clockwork and much lighter and less painful.

I don't think there's any more advice to offer really. Except to say whilst ttc you only need to be taking folic acid, so if you find the pregnacare make you ill then you can just switch to folic acid on its own (much cheaper too!).

Heavy painful periods and unprotected sex would make me want a chlamydia test. Not be judgemental at all, it's very common but can lead to fertility problems further down the line. You may already have been checked out, but if not, probably best to sort that as part of the pre-pregnancy plan.

By the looks of her post, Stardust was indeed offering advice. No need to be so defensive towards people who are trying to help you.

Yes I have been checked I'm actually 23 now and I did t I had unprotected sex constantly but I was young and stupid. I realise my mistake and I have been checked thank you. I was In two minds about joining things like this for the simple fact it's always nothing but negativity. " Why on earth did you have unprotected sex!?" So you were never young and dumb? Why are you using past errors to make me feel like shit. Isn't this supposed to be for advice?

You need to work out when you are ovulating - you can only get pregnant by having sex in the 4 days before or day of ovulation so you've a 5 day window - the rest of the month doesn't count.
This will be hard to do if you don't have regular periods - this indicates you aren't ovulating regularly
Most people ovulate about 10-14 days before their period starts
Signs to look for include increased cervixal mucus /discharge etc or you could start charting your temperature
TBH tho I think the first thing you need is an std check so get to a well woman center. Why on earth did you have sex at 16 for 2 years unprotected?! STDs can impact your fertility and cause serious damage to an unborn child so you need to rule out having one before you start trying. Good luck
