@Lopey! Yes! More of this! You've inspired me. I'm feeling all of this and really need to be grateful and positive so ttc doesn't ruin my relationship with dh and my dd has a focused and contented mummy. Ooh and more importantly I can actually be happy!

Thanks for that

LopeyLopez · 21/08/2017 09:13

Morning all, thanks for the condolences...😞 Syd, sorry af got you too. Wow, 43 days, that is one long cycle....also cycle 17 - as someone else said, I would've officially crazy by then....I already am now. Well done you for keeping sane.

I was thinking last night that we really really have to just stay positive and think about what we do have and maybe stop stressing so much about ttc in order to actually be successful at it..... (mother, I am also worried that stress is affecting my ability to conceive.... again, like you, not mainly from the actual ttc process but from work and housework and managing relationship and childcare....i.e life in general; two many spinning plates!!)

I recovered relatively quick after the disappointment of another bfn this month. After the usual crying and feeling like utter shit and a massive failure and letting down everyone (the thoughts that always run through my head: I can't provide a sibling for DS; we can't be a "proper" family, I.e more then one child - which I know is wrong and stupid anyway...) which come with af every month, I started thinking about being more proactive in a positive way.

So I am going to put in one last massive effort with ttc for the next six months, but also be glad of what I do have and try to enjoy that without letting ttc get me down if it doesn't work out.

These are my goals for the next few months:

  • start temping again (began this morning / setting alarm for 5.30 every day as this is my wake up on a normal work day anyway....oh gonna love this at the weekends!! Grin)
  • sex every day from day 12 to day 16, or as a minimum every other day if we really can't manage it
  • enjoy the sex!! And put in some effort to initiate and seduce oh rather than just "it's the right time, we need to have sex now....!" Blush Get out sexy underwear that is hidden under a pile of "comfortable" non-wired bed bras and maternity bras!!! (Why am I still wearing these?!?!?! Because they're so comfy.....!)
  • get back into running - which was going really well until I got pneumonia last month and had to give up - gah! This makes me feel so much better about myself, my body and hence wearing said sexy underwear (see above!)
  • keep off the caffeine and further reduce alcohol but not enough to mean I can't enjoy a glass and a laugh here and there!
  • book Drs app to discuss no conception after six months (as I'm over 35) and get blood tests for different times of the month to check hormone levels
  • have a frank and honest discussion with oh about why I need to get pg asap (so many reasons, including financial and to fit in with career and job options ATM, as well as the obvious emotional ones and to complete our lovely family and make DS a little brother or sister....) Need to make sure he is completely on side and as into it as me. I don't think he realises at the moment why it needs to be soon - mainly because of my age but not just that, for reasons above - but that is my fault because I don't tell him!!
  • and finally enjoy as much time as I can with my lovely son and oh and be happy with them, not wasting my emotions feeling sad for a baby who isn't here whilst my current son grows up with a sad mummy!

Well sorry for the long and rambling post....mainly therapy for me (!!) but hopefully something here rings a bell with someone else and it will help you think about things and get back on track too.

Good luck all xxx

SydBound27 · 21/08/2017 08:54

Thanks @Mother, I have had the initial bloods done and it's all come back normal, so I have an appointment with the gp to discuss options today. It's either 17 or 5 months, depending on if you count the 12 months when I was breastfeeding and my cycle had returned. I'm starting to get used to the idea of having an only child, but have hope that we can conceive again. I hope you are able to manage your anxieties. My husband found cognitive behavioural therapy helpful with his anxiety, as well as meditation and mindfulness. He is so far away from a raging hippy that I was surprised he was open to it, and in the end he's got the tools and mindset to cope with those thoughts. Best of luck ther.

And @cakes sorry to hear you got a bfn. It's the worst, isn't it? Enjoy some wine tonight.

MotherofBoy · 21/08/2017 06:37

Ah sorry cupcakes those bfn are always so demoralising.

Wow syd I so hope this month is your month I would be officially crazy by cycle 17. Were you one of the ones in the group awaiting tests? So hope you get your bfp.

I am worried I'm not getting bfp due to stress. But then I try hard to relax which obviously has the opsite effect... couldn't sleep last night heart was racing no idea why. I am so frustrated as I don't know what to do to minimise my anxieties! (Not about ttc mostly, about other stuff like work, moving house)

Cupcakesandlove · 21/08/2017 06:24

Hi

I've just tested and I'm not pregnant this month.

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 20/08/2017 18:15

Thank you for the reassurance a few days ago :) still no sign of anything but different cm today so going to try another OPK, see if there's any sign of some kind of progress!

SydBound27 · 20/08/2017 18:00

Sorry for disappearing. Af came yesterday (another 43 day cycle...!) so we're on to cycle 17.. ehhhh. Was pretty devastated yesterday but getting over it now.

Sorry af got you too @lopey, but glad lp is getting longer for you.

we're planning to dtd every second day after af finishes NO MATTER WHAT.

Karpuzkiz · 20/08/2017 17:49

Also just wanted to say thank you for those who recommended the app fertility friend! It predicted it spot on! X

Nubian9454 · 20/08/2017 16:09

mito79 · 20/08/2017 15:50

... as of tomorrow I will be off to Hungary for 10 days...by the time I will be back I should know what is happening.. not sure to take a test with me or not...

KashyKash · 20/08/2017 11:02

Welcome cupcake! And keep positive Nubian, you never know. The second week of the 2ww is just the worst isn't it? I'll be keeping everything crossed that it's your month. Hope you catch that egg Karpuz!

Nubian9454 · 20/08/2017 10:42

Thanks Kashy. Thanks for reminding me to stay positive. Very hard sometimes

KashyKash · 20/08/2017 10:33

Welcome cupcake! And keep positive Nubian, you never know. The second week of the 2ww is just the worst isn't it? I'll be keeping everything crossed that it's your month. Hope you catch that egg Karpuz!

KashyKash · 20/08/2017 10:04

Sorry Lopey, our bodies can be so cruel. Wine tonight might help. Good news about the longer luteal phase, hopefully next cycle will be yours x x

Karpuzkiz · 20/08/2017 09:52

I got the static smiley today 🙁 I knew it would come on the weekend so think that's us out again. Can DTD tomorrow night but don't hold out much hope catching the egg then! And somehow don't think the swimmers will have lasted since Wednesday night - I just want to go away and sulk!

So sorry lopey AF arrived at least your leutal phase has got longer! Welcome cupcake Flowers

Nubian9454 · 20/08/2017 09:38

Lopey sorry about af. That sucks. All the best for next cycLe. I'm not holding much hope of a Bfp this cycle either. Have the familiar sore boobs indicating af. Not as painful this cycle though. Af due saturday I think. Don't really feel any pregnancy symptoms sooooo I think I'm not this month. It really sucks arg.

Welcome Cupcake . Let us know how you get on Wednesday.

Baby dust xx

Cupcakesandlove · 20/08/2017 09:29

Hi can I join,

Cycle 1, I have been off contraception since jan. However not actively trying just seeing if it happened.
26
Ttc 2
I have a 20 month old girl
AF due Wednesday
Don't think it will be positive.

LopeyLopez · 20/08/2017 08:06

No good news from me folks, sorry. Tested this morning and negative; swiftly followed by af. What a weird cycle. Never had a 14 day luteal phase in my life before! So this is good, if it stays. Onto cycle 7. Rubbish.

KashyKash · 19/08/2017 13:47

Good luck Lopey, I really hope it's good news for you!

Mother, I can so relate to what you're going through. I'm on a family weekend away at the moment with the in laws and my sil has used the weekend for her big special announcement that she is pregnant. I'm finding it really hard to be happy for her which is awful :(

Good luck to everyone else waiting to test x x

Nubian9454 · 19/08/2017 10:00

Good luck for tomorrow Lopey. Will have my fingers crossed for you. Baby dust xx

LopeyLopez · 19/08/2017 09:07

Hi all,

Still no full blown af for me - spotting for three days (none today so far). Still haven't tested and I know people will think that's crazy but I just so don't want to see a negative test. Would rather wait for af.

Still only 1 day late so could still come.

If no full af tomorrow morning I will test then. I will be 15 dpo so surely by that point, neg means neg and pos means pos....? Just don't want any ambiguity. And if it's a chemical then I really don't want to know....

I thought I'd come on when I went to the toilet in the supermarket yesterday....then spent half an hour sitting in the cafe with oh and DS trying not to cry and ruin a nice day out! I know the pain and emotions everyone is going through. I was heartbroken when I saw red blood on the pad. But since then nothing.

I am very very very cautiously optimistic....either a really really short and strange af (basically just spotting), a late one still to come....or something could be going on in there!

June, thanks for info, I do use Agnus castus (since the first time ttc three years ago) and it has helped with my luteal phase: went from 10 to 12 days. However I more recently always get this spotting before af for one-two-three days of luteal phase, and that concerns me a bit. I read it could be down to diminishing oestrogen or perimenopause and all manner of other scary things....so I stopped reading....!

Good luck all, will keep posted on my result, good or bad, tomorrow x

MynameisJune · 19/08/2017 08:02

Have just been catching up. Hope everyone is okay, just going into fw here, luckily DH isn't working away this time.

mother so sorry about the CP, it's understandable to be sad. Hope you're doing okay.

ovaries really hope at turns up soon. It's so frustrating being in limbo.

lopey have you tried agnus castus to help with a short luteal phase? A friend recommended it to me as my cycles have been super short and after taking it for a full cycle I had a 28d cycle for the first time since before DD was conceived.

tiramisualwaystiramisu · 19/08/2017 07:36

It's so tough mother - a friend just had her second and I'm so envious. nubian I'm 5dpo and desperately trying not to symptom spot. Baby dust to those still in with a chance this month

Nubian9454 · 18/08/2017 21:48

Sorry Ovaries. I can imagine the frustration. Aaah Mother it's hard when you want it to happen so badly for yourself. I'm 6 days past ovulation and have no real symptoms of anything. Mild twinges and slight backache. Ni sore boobs or anything. Usually I would be cramping and my boobs would be very sore at this stage as it gears up for af in a week or so. Ive given up on uderstanding what's happening with my body!! Hang in there ladies. Sooner or later we will get our Bfp! Baby dust to everyone xx

MotherofBoy · 18/08/2017 18:32

Hi ladies, ovaties that sounds stressful I hope af or ov appears soon! Bodies can go haywire after contraception.

Feeling sad today found out someone else I know is pregnant. Heartbroken, just long more than anything for it to be me Sad
