I think the last thread was full. I hope you all find this one!

@katiegd it's all it takes. Dc1 was a one shag wonder (was over Xmas and had been sharing bedroom with family so had pretty much written off that month)

katiegd · 19/07/2017 21:38

Sorry shredtheevidence :-(.

I'm 9dpo and feeling like I'm almost certainly not pg this month, but I know it's far too early to tell and I should hold out hope until AF arrives. Just not pinning my hopes on that one shag this month (which I think was well timed but still only one).

How is everyone else?

Melodypond17 · 19/07/2017 20:02

Oh no, @Shredtheevidence :(

I'm still waiting for my ovulation smiley face - thought it would be today, but not yet... trying to be patient

Doctors appointment on Friday to discuss fertility issues

littlemimosa · 19/07/2017 19:54

So sorry Shred:( I think I'll be joining you any hour on next cycle. 14DPO and feeling like AF is on her way. Boo.
How's everyone else?

Shredtheevidence · 19/07/2017 19:41

Well I'm out. AF finally decided to show up on cd47. So cd1 now, ttc #2, cycle 4!

lisara79 · 18/07/2017 21:20

@rhibee29 Cheese sounds like a good solution to most things!

OP posts:
RhiBee29 · 18/07/2017 21:01

No idea what cd I am! Sitting here eating cheese and feeling sorry for myself so maybe AF is imminent.

lisara79 · 18/07/2017 18:21

so proud @littlemimosa! My 20s and early 30s were the same... I lived in 5 cities, travelled, got educated (also 2 degrees!) and had no desire to settle down. i moved back home when my dad got ill 5 years ago and looked after him until he died and then I met DH nearly 4 years ago... life has been busy and full and I'm ready for family... just need mother nature to play ball... I'm cd11... waiting for the all important ewcm and positive opk.... getting ready for this month... I be joining the symptom spotters next week!

Lisara I love your comment 'biology needs to get with the program'!!

Couldn't agree more. I wish now I'd started earlier too but would I have in reality? I don't know. We women are given so many wonderful opportunities these days but fertility-wise it's a double edged sword. In my 20s/early 30s I was busy travelling, getting two degrees, busy with my career and holding out for Mr Right. All the things sensible girls are told to do. But it's all at the expense of your future family in many ways. I'd have loved a large family if I'm honest but time is tickkbg loudly now. I know how totally blessed I am to have my two babies but I'm just don't feel done.

Anyhoo, here I am and at least I'm having one last crack of the whip before my internal organs shrivel up for goodConfused

13dpo and holding off testing until AF is actually late. Aren't you proud of me!?

katiegd · 18/07/2017 17:44

Yeah, I can't believe how little knowledge I had about my fertility before starting TTC. Like you Rhi I spent my twenties doing everything I could not to be fertile, and now I'm wondering why I bothered (although chances are I'd have got pregnant then and I am SO glad I am not tied to my ex through having children).

Hope you're all doing ok.

I'm having the usual week-before-AF-due mood crash and symptom spotting. Cried at work today. Urgh.

lisara79 · 18/07/2017 10:40

@rhibee29 I'm not sure you are taught much at school except the mechanics and not to have sex without contraception unless you want to get pregnant or get an STD.... nothing really about your reproductive health apart from STDs... iv e certainly learned more from here and Google than anywhere else.... women sharing info is brilliant!

OP posts:
RhiBee29 · 18/07/2017 07:09

I'm in my early 30's but really wish I'd started my family earlier. You spend so long being educated on how to avoid pregnancy but nobody tells you how narrow the window is to actually conceive they just pump you full of contraceptives. You ladies are teaching me more than I ever learnt at school!

lisara79 · 17/07/2017 13:11

I'm not over 40 yet... approaching 38 but I still feel the pressure of age and keep being told to get on with it... I do sometimes wonder why I was so careful when I was younger.... it's strange... in South Wales, where i grew up and live now, my school friends all had children in their late 20s/early 30s and are all pretty much done while my friends in London, where i spent my 20s and early 30s, are all trying now or aren't quite ready yet... I have so many friends starting their family's in their late 30s and early 40s.... It seems to be the way forward. Biology needs to get with the program!

OP posts:
Sarah2209 · 17/07/2017 12:38

I completely understand - and again, no disrespect to anyone younger who is trying, as each journey is tough no matter the age. But you are both right - I don’t think I look or feel 43.... but I keep being told about the quality of my eggs being dubious at my age! And my life seems to be in constant limbo - which is why we have made the hard decision to stop by a certain date if it hasn’t happened. Just hope it does and if not I have the strength to move on.....

Life’s a real Bi*ch sometimes...

Melodypond17 · 17/07/2017 00:27

Another member of the geriatric mums club here - it seemed so easy in my 20s (no disrespect to anyone of any age ttc) but back then I had no idea how hard it could be to get that (now) elusive bfp...

Now I'm 43 and everything seems to revolve around af, ovulation etc etc and time just seems to be against us :(

littlemimosa · 16/07/2017 23:08

Omg the geriatric mothers brigade!!
Perhaps that's what we should call the next thread......Only kidding all you lovely ladies under 40;)
Joking aside though, how frickin cruel is Mother Nature in terms of the female fertility window?? I mean I look 25 on the outside but my ovaries are decrepit at 41. Sob.

Sarah2209 · 16/07/2017 20:11

Thanks for the post Lisara79 - gives me hope at 44 in 2 months!!

RhiBee - hope all is ok now? And your cycle normalises....

Littlemimosa- I'm 6/7 dpo - so not far behind you!! Bit more cm than usual, and a little bit of nausea here and there.... but really trying not symptom spot as it's getting harder and harder to be let down each month. Fx for you though - your symptoms sound promising.... wouldn't it be wonderful if this was our month... the geriatric mothers brigade Wink x

katiegd · 16/07/2017 16:03

Lisara - glad to hear you're feeling positive and that horrible AF is over. I am also trying to maintain positivity. I know I'm still fairly early in my TTC journey in the grand scheme of things and there is every chance it'll happen before we get to the treatment stage.

Rhi - glad doctor said it was normal.

littlemimosa · 14/07/2017 21:33

Rhi - glad doctor said everything normal. Hope you're ok.

Lisara - great to hear you sounding so positive. And what inspiring stories about 40+ conceptions:) Being 'ancient' in terms of fertility myself, i do take comfort from stories like that. Apparently more over 40s are now having babies in the UK than ever before and for the first time we outnumber teenage pregnancies!

Katie - can understand your nervousness. But like you say if there is something stopping you getting pg at least you can start to fix it.

Sarah - thanks for answering my nosey questions:) where are you in your cycle? I'm 8/9 DPO and of course the curious symptom spotting starts here. This month it's mild cramps and pulling/tugging sensations, hurrah! Every month it's something different I don't know how I manage it;)

RhiBee29 · 14/07/2017 14:03

Dr said all is normal just tail end of mc and will probably last until AF finally rocks up! Guess I just have to put up with it for now.

lisara79 · 14/07/2017 12:39

Hope all is OK Rhi x

OP posts:
RhiBee29 · 14/07/2017 11:56

Thanks @lisara79 and @katiegd, called GP currently in their waiting area, cm had turned to more of a brown discharge (yuk!) and I think I may have an infection, I have a tendency to get BV. Just want it to end now!

lisara79 · 14/07/2017 10:30

My horrendous first period post mc has ended! Heavy and painful but done. Feeling quite positive about TTC now. I've changed fertility supplements, eating better and have all my testing stuff at the ready...
For you ladies having fertility treatment, even low level stuff... I went to a wedding last week. The bride and groom were both early 40s and most of their friends are the same sort of age. They are a load of professional Londoners so many ttc at more advanced ages. I talked to 3 separate couples who were pregnant or had young babies with the mum's at over 40... two were nearer 45... one conceived naturally at 44 while waiting for treatment, one had ivf at 41 and is now 8 months pregnant (1 cycle) and 1 conceived with the help of Clomid at about 43... really interesting conversation because they all thought they would struggle and may not get there but all have. I also have two friends at work who are both on Clomid in early 30s because of polycystic ovaries... their struggle seems harder but their age gives them future options with access to ivf on the nhs which the older mum's would have to pay for... amazing the stories you hear when you talk to people... so many people sharing the same battles as we are...

OP posts:
lisara79 · 14/07/2017 10:17

@rhibee29 iv e read a lot this month and a lot is contradictory... I think the blood is probably related to the miscarriage but it mat be best to check... apparently ewcm can be a bit over abundant after miscarriage but because your body is recovering, may not mean ovulation.... can you ring the epu? or the unit that dealt with the loss? they may know more than your GP.

OP posts:
katiegd · 13/07/2017 18:33

Hmm, afraid I'm probably not much help Rhi - not sure what's normal? How are things today?

I went to GP yesterday to discuss fertility for first time and all tests are done or ordered...bloods, chlamydia, pelvic scan, semen analysis. Bit nervous about what we'll find out but I'd rather know.
