No period or pregnancy symptoms :/??

Since coming off the pill I have had my period bang on time, arriving always on the 3Rd or 4th of each month. Therefore I was expecting my period to come today or yesterday (sat/sun).. Instead since Friday j have had odd bit of brown discharge which I've only noticed from wiping or once using a tampon for a few hours.. I've since been wearing a panty liner and had nothing show up.

I didn't expect to be considering pregnancy this month as I'm the pervious weeks we have been on holiday and avoiding pregnancy via the "pull out" technique. We were told by our nurse before going on holiday to avoid pregnancy until we returned and had a test for the Zika virus.

We hadn't had sex since coming home two weeks ago but haven't had the money to have the test for Zika yet.

Any thoughts on whether this sounds like pregnancy? I haven't really had any other symptoms x

Thanks x

Oh right, that's really interesting, I had no idea. Maybe it is best to wait until the end of the year then to TTC again? Although I imagine that sounds life a lifetime to wait!

We went to Thailand in may which has had cases of zika. We both have been well but I know it can live in sperm for six months and in women for eight weeks x

How long has passed since you think you were exposed to it and have you been unwell?

I though the virus only lasted about a week and only affected already established pregnancies as opposed to causing Chemical pregnancy type scenarios but I obviously don't know for definite.

Definitely something worth talking to the GP about though if you do go and see we one or talk to one.

16MrsE · 06/07/2017 19:38

I'm worried maybe we have zika and that's why I've lost the baby :( we just don't have the money to pay approx 300 each for the test xx

Ah sorry, I can't see the positive test pics on my phone. Just OPK ones. Maybe they didn't load properly.

I'm sorry you're having a tough time, it sounds like a chemical. 😔 Keep positive though because our bodies are weird and wonderful things and you might just be having an early blip. If this isn't meant to be, please consider waiting for zika to be out of your system as I know that can be a real worry. I waited after our zika holiday.

Good luck, I hope it's a positive outcome for you. Xxx

as writerwannabe83 has said, I was due af Sunday, I got a positive Monday and Wednesday then had brown spotting last night. Used a different test, cheap one from asda, this morning, which was negative. But opk was still a strongish with second line. I've been spotting red/brown old and new blood today. :'( xx

She had two positive FRERS (pictures have bren included) and didn't first test until the day after her period was due.

MouseLove · 06/07/2017 18:26

Just to follow up on my last message. You said you were getting a second line on an OPK.... that's completely normal. You can also get two strong lines just before AF is due. Everyone should get two lines at any time during their cycle. When the line is as dark as the control line it indicates that you will have a hormone spike. It's not a positive for ovulation. Also do you have a positive pregnancy test, I can only see opks and negative tests? I'm sorry you are in a little limbo right now but this is the main reason why I do not and will never test before AF is due. It's not worth the confusion and heartache. Xxx

Sad

At least it's the weekend so you will have your husband with (assuming he doesn't work during them) so take some time to do something nice for yourselves Flowers

16MrsE · 06/07/2017 11:56

Been to toilet and there was some blood but not much, guess it will get heavier over coming days :'( x

Oh bless him.

Be prepared for the doctors to not say or do much though as what's happened can't be changed. They may ask you to go back in a few days if your period hasnt started for bloods but apart from that there's nothing they can do really.

It will be good for you to talk it through with someone one as they may be able to reassure you and some GPs are brilliant at giving a bit of TLC when you most need it Flowers

Husband just called and could tell I was upset, told him even though I wanted to wait til he got home. He's upset and is wanting Me to call docs. Waiting for a call back from them x he'll want to try still but he'll want whatever I do too, he won't push for anything x

I had a friend who miscarried twins at 9 weeks pregnant and decided to TTC again straight away where she fell pregnant immediately but again had an early miscarriage. She TTC'd straight away again, got pregnant that cycle but unfortunately it was ectopic and had to be rushed to theatre and ultimately lost the baby and one of her Fallopian tubes. Her GP then told her she needed to stop TTC'ing for at least 3 months to allow her body to recover and her cycles to settle, which she did, then got pregnant straight away and is now 14 weeks with a healthy baby.

I hear a lot of anecdotal stories about women being very fertile in their cycle following a CP or miscarriage and falling pregnant again straight away.

When I miscarried my DH wanted to start trying again straight away but emotionally I just couldn't face it and we ultimately waited about 3 or 4 months before TTC again.

Talk it all through with your husband and just see how you both want to proceed Flowers

16MrsE · 06/07/2017 11:11

Thank you.. I appreciate all your help over the last few days xxx I wasn't looking to try this month for other reasons and maybe it would be best not to so my cycle can get back to normal xx

Flowers

Try not to focus on that otherwise your actual anniversary will be shadowed by thinking about this. Hopefully though you will be pregnant by the time your Anniversary comes round.

Some women feel ready to start TTC again straight away whereas other women want to wait a while so just do what feels right for you.

It wasn't meant to be this month but it will happen for you soon I'm sure x

16MrsE · 06/07/2017 10:31

Can't get through to doctors.
I understand what you mean with the idea that maybe it's happened to prevent more hurt but I honestly thought this was out month and for it to have been due on our anniversary is would have been so special :'( xxx

Yeah, I thought you had t tested early, I just couldn't remember.

My tests starting fading over the course of three days until I eventually got a negative on both a FRER and a CB Digital. I went to see the doctor who said the pregnancy had failed but to go back in 3 days for blood tests to check my HCG levels. I declined though because it was obvious what had happened and blood results weren't going to alter that.

As I said though, take comfort in knowing that you can get pregnant but unfortunately this time you were just unlucky.

Some say that CPs be miscarriages are natures way of discarding fertilised eggs and pregnancies that have some abnormalities I.e if the pregnancy had progressed then there would have been something wrong with the baby, and I found a bit of comfort in that actually.

Don't blame yourself but allow yourself to be sad because it is upsetting x

16MrsE · 06/07/2017 09:48

my period was due from Sunday hence me taking my first test Monday which I got a positive on xx

OP posts:
Writerwannabe83 · 06/07/2017 09:41

It's really shitty. This is why a lot of women don't like testing early as they said if they did have a CP they'd rather not know about it, I.e they'd rather think there period was just a few days late rather than go for the happiness of seeing a second line for it then to disappear a few days later.

When would your period actually have been due?

16MrsE · 06/07/2017 09:33

Going to tell him when he's home from work. I'd planned to tell him I was pregnant, not that I was but now i'm not :( x

Have you read up about Chemical Pregnancies at all?

It might be worth you starting up a new thread in this forum about them, explain you've had one and you want to hear other experiences. It might help you understand it better and also to feel less alone and see how common it is.

I saw the GP when I started getting negative tests but that was only because I'd been getting strong positive results for over two weeks so had definitely been viably pregnant, hence why my loss was termed an early miscarriage and not a Chemical Pregnancy.

You haven't done anything wrong, it's just one of those very unfortunate things. I think the statistic on successfully falling pregnant during a cycle is something like 25% and the remaining 75% of women either don't conceive at all or they do but it turns out to be a CP. I don't know how accurate that is though.

In your case I probably wouldn't go to the GP just yet but if your period hasnt arrived by the start of next week even though tests remain negative then I would make an appointment.

Have you told your husband?

16MrsE · 06/07/2017 09:17

I don't get what's happened. I'm 24 and my husband is 30 x do I call the doctors? Been trying but not got through

Writerwannabe83 · 06/07/2017 09:06

I'm sorry Sad Flowers

I know you haven't said how old you are but I think if you're over 35 and have been TTC for 6 month she plus it is advised you see your GP anyway so if you are in that age bracket then maybe it's worth a visit x
