Hi thats it really. If there is anyone who is about to start a new cycle with clomid, can you please be my friend?
This will be my first try on clomid, I have pcos, and started af today after a horrible 48 day cycle.
But af is here, hurray! which means i can start on the magic beans tomorrow.
So if you would like chat and hand holding too, please sign in here.
Im thinking good sense of humour, sympathy, and patience will be a must

ta. will hang around.. just didnt want to be a pain in the ass hanging round. Think might be a wee bit hormonal here.

lulu1414 · 04/05/2007 10:55

lulu1414 · 04/05/2007 10:28

Morning all- PCM very funny indeed! I actually don't have that problem with DH. The years of me being badgered at his ridiculously high sex drive have paid off! He is loving all this. If anything it is him saying "shouldn't we just one more go today just in case" and me saying "sweet mercy!". He also thinks it should be throughout the whole cycle and not just around OV. When I fell pg last time we laughed that he was disappointed as he was hoping for a year of trying. Well, in the end he got his wish!

I agree, PCM I will feel better once I take my first tablet. I am just waiting for the first proper bleed day (I think tomorrow from the looks of things) and then will start the day after. It is such a cycle!

MamaMaiasaura · 04/05/2007 10:26

oh and I banned him from having a fiddle in the shower to safe up all the good stuff LOL

MamaMaiasaura · 04/05/2007 10:25

he missed out foreplay lol. Am proud of him tho.. he saw the task in hand and embraced it LOL. tbh tho there were a few times when it was a quickie.. then he disappeared off to do his own thing while i had my legs stuck in the air.. (he would laugh at me at that point )

flosspot · 04/05/2007 10:12

Nugget would be a Parson's Jack Russell (long haired!)PCM.

On subject of reluctant husbands, mine is one- last month he sat down and told me that he really couldn't perform at the drop of a hat, his necessaries couldn't hack it. I was fuming- "You think I want to be awake at 11pm waiting for you to get home just so we can have sex. This isn't fun for me either, you know." etc. Also threatened to call work and have my fertile dates put in his online diary, so that everyone at work knew what he was up to.

Think it would be easier just to go down IVF route so I don't have to involve him at all.......I don't know how Awen's DH did it, but respect!

Don't stress about next step PCM- madness lies that way- you'll be so wound up that nothing will happen now. Take it a day at a time. We're all here with you. Kisses

bonjour [smie]
Just read throught the flurry of posts, this is a lovely friendly thread to come back to.
Thanks for the profile flossie - you have now entered my inner sanctum!! I also have a dog, he is 2 yrs but we only got him in January (from another mumsnetter actually) He is my gorgeous baby boy. What breed is Nugget? I could guess from the picture but dont want to insult you if im wrong
lulu.........i am so so sorry about your af honey. I felt exactly the same last month, comletely gutted. (It was last month I had the crying sesh at work, not good) Wish there was something I could say to make you feel better, but I know only too well that nothing makes a difference when you are feeling so low about it all. All I can offer is hugs and positive vibes for your next cycle. I did find that as soon as I started the clomid again I was able to re-focus and get on with the next cycle, and the shock and upset of starting af did seem to lessen.
Thinking of you.
I understand about the not drinking thing. I have cut down wine consumption drastically, but really only drink with dinner or at home. I'm not really a "getting drunk" girl, not these days anyway, in my vintage years!!!! I figure a glass of wine helps me relax and is part of normality for me. If I do too much stuff thats "out of range" it can soon make me even more obsessed.
Now - a funny story.....
To set the scene, it is cd14 (this is yesterday) . We did the bding last night, early evening-ish. Later on I got quite strong pains on my left lower abdomen, which I figure could be ovulation pains ((yipee)). I tell dh this, and that it could be a good sign, and I think we should "get to it" in the morning just for good measure. Dh not keen on the whole morning before work shagging type thing, so is reluctant. In end after lots of persuasion, he relents, and says if i put alarm clock on and make the tea (he always makes the cuppas), then he will go for it. Guess what?? 6.30 this morning, I kid you not for at least half an hour, and there was definatly no "going for it" going on!!! His exscuse, "I just dont feel like it i am too tired" We end up having an argument with me screaming " in case you hadnt noticed, this is so not about your pleasure anymore!!!! do you know how long an egg can live??!!! I dont CARE If you dont feel like it!!! "
Looking back was very hilarious, but you know what its like ladies, when you need that sperm, you need it, its not exactly an option is it???
OOOOOOOh I was really cross.
all fine now though, we managed to come home from work at mid-day, even though hes like "what about my lunch?" I was like, "dont worry love you can eat it in the car on the way back "
Any one else have similar problems with their dh?? I know awen didnt, she was at it every day bless her! Hes been really really good lately, does it whenever i say we need to , every day when its mid cycle, but just today i think he was feeling really put upon.
Thing is Im stressing because of same reasons as lulu, thinking omg it'll never work and if it doesnt work this month, ive only got 4 more goes, etc etc, which makes me more uptight and anxious. Tbh, im so scared of having to go down the iui/ivf route....I just feel as if we should maximise every opportunity.
Sorry to waffle on so much.
love to all xxxxxx

sorry lulu that the old hag arrived

Re clomid, I was on 50mg for first cycle and they were increasing it to 100mg for the next one.

Consultant just telelhpone me, bless her. She said my early scan looks good. Forgot to post on here about it as been obsessing. Shows me at about 4-5 weeks. Good gestational sack, unclear if embryo can been seen but very early. Looks like i ov'd by myself as very last in cycle.. about cd41.

I bd'd from the moment AF dissapeared till about cd45. Most nights altho towards the end every other. So glad we stuck at it as has paid divendeds. Probab best to BD as much as you possibley can as the timing of ov can not be certain.

lulu1414 · 03/05/2007 12:45

It did it again! I am cursed! I wrote and wrote and no message appeared!

Re the drinking, I just wish I could be as chilled about it all as I was last time. But alas.... I am of two minds. On the one hand I want to be as relaxed and "normal" as possible and have a drink now and again. But on the other hand I feel like I should do everything in my power to give myself the best shot. Last time I jsut really cut down and never drank more than a couple of glasses and then quite when I was pregnant. This time I am just a bundle of worry! The other problem is if I go out with friends and don't drink they all give me a knowing wink and that just makes me want to cry (or hit them!)

flosspot · 03/05/2007 12:36

Worry away. Will not bore you with the ridiculous things I worry about. Current advice for pregnant women is that an occasional glass of wine is OK. I figure this advice applies to me too as TTC. But if you are concerned, don't drink. To be honest I spent years being allergic to alcohol(told you I was a freak!) so don't drink very much anyway....

BTW my gran, who had several MC and 7 strapping kids said that she was told that MC was all about the body getting itself ready for childbearing. Might be old wive's tale, but has positive spin

lulu1414 · 03/05/2007 12:21

Arggghhh. It is not my day!I just wrote a long message and it didn't appear. Here goes again...

Floss- thanks for your kind words.

I knew I waas getting sc---ed by my GP. She has been so totally useless and the consultant wanted her to do a prescription for 6 months, but she wouldn't. Her claim was that it would save me money?!? I was sure I paid only per prescription so now 1) I have to scramble to get a prescription each time 2) I have to pay each time! I'm switching GPs, though, so maybe I can get my next few months all together.

I completely agree about champagne. I try to justify champagne all the time! The reason I ask is that I am still drinking when I want to, but starting to feel guilty about it. I am feeling like I should be virtuous for the next 2 months, to give myself the best chance. But then I worry I am getting?!? obsessive. Last time I was so much more relaxed and didn't worry about thses things, but after the m/c and my subsequent woes I have really changed about this TTC thing. (another update about me: I am a total worrier and worry about the amount I worry!).

flosspot · 03/05/2007 12:01

And as far as drinking goes, life TTC is hard enough without total sensory deprivation. Have a glass every now and then. On those grounds, you can justify something a little more expensive....Champagne on you?! My life revolves around justifying champagne.

Kisses, floss.

PS see if consultant will write GP a letter asking for prescription in one go. Saves you holding them up with unnecessary appointments and means that you only have to pay prescription charge once.

flosspot · 03/05/2007 11:57

Lulu (please insert big hug and box of chocolates here ) am gutted for you. But you all my love, and the knowledge that you are not the only one feeling like this. In truth, am a little envious of your 25 day cycle as mine sooo long, so not all bad!!!!

Update on me: 30- but if one more person says "You're young, you've got plenty of time to have babies" I will scream. Married and work from home (formerly maternity nurse and nanny. Sucking up the irony there ) in leafy (and chavvy in parts) Bromley. DH brings home the bacon from the city. Guess that makes me a DINKY, emphasis on the Y. Do have a dog though and she makes a good substitute.

What's up people? Best love, me and the pooch xxwoof

lulu1414 · 03/05/2007 10:51

Hi all- well, AF arrived this morning and I am gutted. Sort of knew it was coming, but we live in hope, n'est pas? I feel pretty dismal today and am trying to chase away those "it is never going to happen" feelings. Luckily I have my next cycle of clomid, so I will get going on those on CD2. Looks like my cycle is settling down to 25 days.

My stupid GP will only prescribe 5 tablets each time. She says its so I don't have to pay, but surely you just pay per prescription regardless of how many tablets? The specialist is irritated with them and I am caught in the middle. I am changing GPs this month. I am envious of you guys who have 6 months prescribed in one go. I will be on Clomid for 6 months, I think that is pretty standard as any more is not good.

So an update- I have just turned 33, live in Oxfordshire but work in London, no children, no pets (minus bedbugs)... I had a miscarriage at 13 weeks in October which I feel like I am still getting over and a lovely DH.

Sorry for the gloom, I will pick up (I hope the sun starts shining!). My plan is to reallly put my heart into it next cycle and just try and be positive- but I am not feeling it today!

On another matter, what is all of your policy on drinking whilst TTC?

flosspot · 03/05/2007 10:33

Forgot to say- consultant said to me that if no joy with Clomid after four cycles, it wouldn't be likely to work.Panicking with every month as a result. Have since researched online and see that most people get it for six. Have a super duper GP (who was allowed to prescribe for me after first month) who immediately gave me 30 tabs, so will do six months at 50mg, fewer if dosage is increased, but no doubt doc will give me more to cover that.

Of course on second month, CD13 and planning BD from CD18 for as long as DH can take it!!!

flosspot · 03/05/2007 10:11

Your wish is my command PCM. Even included pictures!

pussycatmomma · 02/05/2007 19:17

helllooooooooooo((((pcm waves)))
Good to see you are sticking with us flossie I dont know what I would have done without mumsnet so far on my ttc journey, so I know exactly what you mean. I just tried to click on your profile but you dont have one, naughty floss!! Tell us about yourself, where do you live, how old are you, etc etc (sorry if being too nosy, i just like to know to whom i am chatting!!)
lulu, hope everything going well and af staying truly out of the way. What cd you on babes??
Minxi, how are you my love? what cd you on? Now there are 4 of us (am i right?) me,lulu, floss, minxi and QueenoftheClomid Awen think we should redo our stats......
me 32 next month (OMG), dh 35, 2/6 cycle of clomid and no babies, but 3 pussycats and 1 lively spaniel
Just wondered, how many cycles have you all been prescribed? I had a 6 mth prescription, which im figuring will take me to Sept, my next gyny appt is October, when IUI and/or IVF will be the topic of conversation. Hopefully I wont be needing that appointment.
Well, the weathers been beautiful hear for past few days, Ive just got in from walking the dog, and dh just back from football.......and what with it being cd14, I think I have better things to do than mn
Hope you are all ok, chat soon
(((((hugs))))) pcm xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

OP posts:
flosspot · 02/05/2007 15:11

Man, you guys are awesome. So should have joined MN sooner.CD12 now, but have decided to BD a little later in the month as cycle holding steady at 40 days. Will jump DH CD20, CD21, CD22....

Minxi- don't dread the tears. Better they can be put down to drugs than depression (of which I have ample experience), and will hopefully be tears of joy for us all soon.Thinking of you.

Attila et al- thanks for advice about agnus castus. will just keep popping the prescribed pills.

PCM, a font of knowledge as always. DOn't get any pains during cycle, so lord knows what's going on. Waiting for surgery to call me back to tell me what happened at last appointment and what to do next.

Lulu- glad to hear not the only one taking DH with me to appointments.Hope it will make the difference.

Awen- good luck with scan!

Sending out positive vibes to you all, as ever. Big kisses.

MamaMaiasaura · 30/04/2007 21:16

I got all the non- ovulation results too. Just kept BDing daily mostly and I guess I ov'd later in the cycle. Dont lose heart over this non ov results as they really are only a snapshot of a day. I have scan tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed all ok and will let u know.

Also the OPK were a load of old trite for me. Def recommend not using them. I think being aware of CM helped and if CM a prob have heard preseed very good altho i didnt use.

Really hope that you all get you bfps. Love to you all xx

lulu1414 · 30/04/2007 19:24

I absolutely support that. I was rushing to write down "don't do AC and clomid" but pleased to see people got there first. AC is pretty powerful and can definitely make things worse. Just stick with the clomid!

Floss- my DH also comes to all my appointments as I found that I would get too emotional and not get my point across or not take in what they were telling me.

pussycatmomma · 30/04/2007 18:59

ooooh, forgot to say! Attilla is completely utterly right as always!!! Dont try and take anything else whilst on clomid, if you can just try and chill once you've had those first 5 pills. The way i see it, if agnus cactus and all that gubbins was any good, we'd be getting that from the nhs instead of the clomid wouldnt we?
Stick with the magic beans honey.

pussycatmomma · 30/04/2007 18:57

hello all........
awen am still getting over your good news! it takes a while for things to sink in these days hope you are feeling well. Sorry about confusion over your dh and ds thought it was a little odd!
Am cd12. So will be trying to squeeze bd in every day from now on!! We started cd8.
Floss, sorry to hear about your scan sweetie, or lack of should I say. I have the whole non-ovulation thing going on too. Nada. Nothing. Zilch. So you are in good company! I dont even know if i ovulated on my first cycle of clomid, but I did get lots of pains around ov was due, so, maybe, but who knows?
Lulu, hope af doesnt arrive and that it is your turn next
love to all xxx

minxi · 30/04/2007 17:45

Awen - great news, well done you all that bd did pay off !!

CD8 for me and have started the bd.. and luckily dh around until cd19 then he is off on stag do - thank god it wasn't this weeekend...

Hope everyone is ok....pcm, coggy....

Feeling much more positive now although dreading week before af due (hopefully she wont be) as can't believe how upset and emotional I was taking the clomid for the first time, don't like feeling out of control with emotions! oh well everyone else gets a surprise
