BFP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have been in shock most of day I think!!! Cant quite believe it.
Wee'd on the clearblue at 7.35 this morning, could hardly bear to look at it, so left it in the bathroom. Got back in bed with dh and timed the test with the clock on breakfast tv. My heart was pounding, dh could feel it through my jarmas!!! Darkest, strongest blue line you have ever seen
Have been dying to tell you all but obviously have been at work and only just got home, logged on straight away.
(((pusscat wanders holds head in v.nervous cant-quite-believe-it haze!)))
Excited, thrilled, scared silly........
what do i do now?!
Dont want to leave our little thread...
Just want to say Thank you, Thank you, Thank you to each and every one of you who has been such a massive support to me these last few months, and if anyone else is reading, to all my other mn friends, thank you for all the care and support in the last few years. Bloody hell, I'll need you all more than ever now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

pussycat, have been lurking here and just thought I'd pop in and see if you've tested yet?

good luck xxx

lulu1414 · 01/06/2007 11:10

Well, hope your luck is better than mine, PCM. AF arrived today. Gutted. Keep us posted.

flosspot · 01/06/2007 09:03

Everything crossed, PCM, but know what you mena about drawing a line.

Still waiting for AF. Have forgotten which day i am even on. Have had sore boobs for ever. Grrr.

I'm waiting until I get back from holiday (next Wed, yippee.) to sort out consultant thing. Hoping for calmer more positive appearance rather than mad weepy frantic bitch....

AttilaTheMeerkat · 31/05/2007 18:25

Hi PCM

I would like to wish you the best of luck for tomorrow re testing. As a veteran also of both PCOS (was diagnosed back in 1997, I was not aware of this condition till diagnosis) and negative test results I would have to counsel you to not test but I can fully understand why you want to do so.

Can you remind me why you have to wait until October to see the consultant?. Is it purely down to seeing how you get on with clomid i.e do the six cycles (without monitoring - argh!!) and then go back to see him?. I personally think this is way too long a wait (you likely think so too); treatment should be far more proactive for you. I was in a NHS unit; although it was short on cash it was efficient and I was seen regularly. From that standpoint I think its appalling you have to wait so long.

I think your point made in your post re possible insulin resistance and Metformin is a good one and should be further investigated. If you are IR (and I would also say that not all PCOSers are) metformin and clomid can work well together; certainly better than just clomid on its own.

Have you looked at Verity's website - its very informative. Its www.verity-pcos.org.uk. I would recommend any PCOSer look at it.

Many hugs to you from me, Attila the Meerkat

(((((((((PCM))))))))))))).

lulu1414 · 31/05/2007 17:35

OK- message just disappeared on me! I think you should just wait and see what happens tomorrow and try not to torment yourself. Like I should talk. I keep pressing on my boobs to see if they hurt and then realise even if they did it was just because I was harrassing myself! I definitely remember the need to pee from last time, but don't have that now. Boobs- mine don't hurt, but the one bump on the left that now always seems to hurt as I approach AF. No sore nips. LAst time they were definitely achey and felt heavier- I remember being precious about them and noticing it when I went to the gym. I can understand the desire to test, but just wait a bit longer...

pussycatmomma · 31/05/2007 17:25

hiya lulu
well symptoms........hmmmm, thats a whole can of worms isn't it! but here goes....
#1- On cd20 had slight bleeding, very slight and didnt last for long. Just when I wiped really, but then nothing.
#2- Have really noticed that for the past 2 or 3 weeks have been going to wee much much more than usual. At first it was so intense I thought I may have had a water infection or something else, but no pain, just needing to wee much more often.
#3- Sore boobies and nipples seem to be "different" , sort of bigger and whole boobs seem "puffy".
Thats it really. Definately not quantitive, certainly not evidential, and probably all to do with impending af!!!!!
Am desperate to test just to get it out of the way. Cant seem to be able to think of anything else at the moment and am feeling quite miserable. Oh, that would be
#4- then, raging pmt, tears at the slightest thing. But again, could just be that am well due for af.
what do you think???

OP posts:
lulu1414 · 31/05/2007 17:15

Hi all- good luck for tomorrow PCM. How are you feeling- be honest do you think you might have any symptoms??? I know you don't want to jinx anything, but am wondering...

I am on CD27 today. AF came on CD 27 last time (at night) and I think CD28 the cycle before. Before that it was around CD37. I can't say I am feeling hopeful as I have absolutely no symptoms and last time I was pg I did by this point (felt a tiny bit nauseous and slightly sore boobs and constipated). So am just waiting for AF.

Anyway, fingers, toes and all crossed for you PCM.

pussycatmomma · 31/05/2007 17:09

attilla....
For the time being I will be sticking with the consultant I have, until October anyway, when I am next due to see him. If at that time I am not happy with his suggestions I will seek further referral.
I am not using opks, temping or any other ovulation prediction method at all, havent done since I had my ovarian drilling last September. I am glad to hear the drilling worked for you, but sadly this is not the case for myself.
I will be testing tomorrow, as at 6 weeks, I think I need to know either way. A veteran of negative unhappy testing also, this is why I have staved off the testing until now. I am not one to test at the drop of a hat and think long and hard before doing so - I know the effects seeing the bfn have, although not quite as bad as when af arrives after a particularly lengthy absence. I figure if I test tomorrow, rather than wait for af, when it is negative I will be able to draw a line under this month (iyswim?)
Either way I know I have waited long enough to see a bfp if I am indeed pregnant, and if not, well, it just confirms what I probably already know.
I'll let you all know how I get on.
Hope I havent killed our little thread with all my bloody rambleings!!!

Apologies for the double post - hit the button twice.

PCM - I have PCOS and became pg as a result of ovarian diathermy surgery. It was my only treatment - in my case I was unsuitable to take clomid (cons felt that it would not help me due to my very high LH levels) and was told that I could have injectibles in six months when the funding had come through. So diathermy was tried in the meantime. Am not telling you this to make you feel bad - its just that you mentioned that you had yet to see anyone get pg by that method alone.

I was seen regularly at a NHS hospital (I was seen three times each month every month); a place where some patient files were kept in a supermarket trolley and where the fax machine kept being stolen (I kid you not) - but the staff there were fantastic and ran the whole unit efficiently. Most women there saw the same people each visit; continuity of care is vital.

Stuff your GP (only use him for another referral) and seek proper help from the cons at the hospital. If they cannot or will not help then go to another subfertility unit (one in a major town or city near you instead). This can be done. It is certainly fair to say that some units are far better than others when it comes to dealing with subfertility issues.

Would repeat my counsel not to use temp charts or opks in any circumstances particularly when PCOS is an issue. Apart from it being soul destroying it is also a waste of time.

I would also hold off pg testing; as a veteran of many negative results it will only serve to make you feel worse.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 30/05/2007 19:30

Flosspot

I would have to agree with you and disagree with your DH. Charting, opk's and other such methods are not worth using if PCOS are issues.

I would push for regular appointments and treatment by the same set of people each visit.

omg at self indulgent long post.
Sorry ladies

OP posts:
pussycatmomma · 30/05/2007 19:16

thanks you two... But it sounds like i am not the only one waiting for af either, what cycle day are you both on?
flossie I understand exactly what you mean about no one else being interested in you getting "duffered"... I have found disinterest from my gp soul destroying, and whilst the consultant is nice in person,I dont feel as if all my questions have been answered or that I am getting the level of monitoring I would absolutely like. Questions go round in my head all the time - what about metformin? you read that when combined with the clomid it is almost doubly as successful - why arent I on that? what about regular scans to see if i have ovulated? where are they why did i go through the bloody ovarian drilling op before they'd even tried me on clomid? and is the op any good anyway? ive yet to see anyone prg with that alone.
It is hard not to feel messed around when we arent getting the results we want. But I am sure I would be the first to stand up and say "thank you" if (when!! come on be positive pusscat) I eventually get prg. It is hard not to think of being prg as our right, ( I know i do sometimes) but I still remind myself in probably my mums generation neither me or my sister would have any chance at all of getting prg, and I just feel blessed that we are being given the options that we are, things being as they are treatment wise. But it is heart-wrenching, there is no denying that.
My big fear at the moment is that the clomid wont work and we will have to go down the ivf route. Cant imagine bearing the cost, and am still trying to find out if we get more than 1 try on the nhs or if its one lot and thats it. 5 lots of treatments have nearly crippled my sister and her husband financially, and while it will be almost brushed aside when she does have a baby, the fact remains that they are now in serious debt for the sake of fertility treatment, which is needed through no fault of their own. Its not like they have been and gambled the money or wasted it on crap, they need it to make themselves a family.
oh ....
i am so sorry to sound off. I dont mean to. I just guess it gets on top of us all at times doesnt it.
big hugs to all my girls on here xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
am also feeling so blue, and desperate to test....but am going to wait till friday. I know its gonna be negative but that just makes it all them more frustrating that i cant get it out of my head and just give it up.
By the way flossie, maybe it will help to ditch the temping, just to go for it when you feel like it but remain on your clomid??
We dont temp or use opks, god knows id be on the ceiling if we did that as well, but it can help to ease the pressure. Maybe worth a thought.

Floss- it is OS frustrating. You just want someone to take control and help you out. Taking a break does not sound like a bad idea... I am thinking of laying off clomid this month for teh same reason.

PCM- 4 is my lucky number so double 4 will be extra lucky. Stay strong and we will all be on tenterhooks!

flosspot · 30/05/2007 10:51

Just find this whole thing frustrating PCM. Nobody seems eager to get going and push forward and actually get me up the duff, know what I mean? Told DH we should take a break this month, stop with temps and dates and carefully timed BDing and just be a normal couple for a while. He disagreed!

Waiting for AF- boobs like melons so it can only be hours away!Feeling it with you Lulu!

Keeping everything crossed PCM. Stay strong till Friday.

pussycatmomma · 29/05/2007 19:03

countdown is going ok.....just feel very very frustrated at lack of af as am sure am not prg, but like i said, i know i wont be able to stop myself from doing at least 1 test if af doesnt arrive soon.
Have decided I am going to test on friday morning. This will make it cd44, not a particularly magic number but its my mum and dads wedding anniversary. You never know, it might be a good omen
Flossie, you sound so fed up sweetie...I hope you get some joy from the gp. Let us know how you get on.

Hi all. Floss- sorry to hear you feel you have been messed about. I very much sympathise as it happened to me. I think you need to be strong and pushy!

PCM- how is the countdown going?

Not much going on here. Just waiting for AF which should be here in the next few days, from the feel of things. Absolutely no pg symptoms, so am sure it is not my month. Feel a bit frustrated with it all. So come on, ladies, let's hear some good news!

flosspot · 29/05/2007 09:58

Attila- a wealth of information for me to consider. I am truly beginning to feel like I am being messed around, as it happens, but your advice has pushed me to my GP. Will let you know what happens....

Morning all. Hope you survived Bank Hoiday.

pussycatmomma · 27/05/2007 10:48

lol attilla
treatment-wise, am still taking my clomid. Have had no further monitoring despite several asks. 2nd cycle at the moment, just waiting for af. Will pretty much continue until my 6mths worth is up, then its back to the gyny hopefully around october time (if no joyous bfp by then of course).
Am really trying not to think about what will happen then, but of course I know its gonna be the IUI/IVF talk
Anyway, for now, onwards and upwards as it were, cd39 here today. Have bought the clearblues ready, but am waiting till cd42 which will be exactly 6 weeks, as per my clomid leaflet. Am not expecting a bfp but iknow will not be able to help myself from testing.
Flossie....sorry you are still not feeling too perky ((hugs for you))
love to all

PCM

And if you visit any more bloody clairvoyants I shall come around and set my Meerkats on you!!.

Seriously though, please stay away from such people. They can play on fears in those who are vulnerable.

What's the latest with you treatment wise?.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 25/05/2007 12:55

Hi Flosspot

Think I'm right in thinking that you were originally diagnosed with PCOS?.

I think you're being mucked about tbh with you and I would think about going to a different hospital (your GP should be able to refer you). It is fair to say that some subfertility units are far better than others.

You ought to be seeing the same person/people each time as a lack of continuity of care is bad for the patient.

You're on the waiting list for follicular tracking and a lap and dye?. I am wondering why instead they have not instead suggested ovarian diathermy surgery as this has had success with some PCOS patients. A lap is an operation which is often used only as a diagnostic tool only - will they deal with the cystic follicles on the ovaries if they do a lap?. This is something you will need to ask them. Also you could instead have a HSG which is a tubal x-ray and will do the same as the dye part of the lap and dye!. Also as this is not a surgical procedure you will be awake for it and it will take less time.

Clomid encourages the ovaries to work harder. You should be monitored closely and regularly whilst on it as it is not always suitable for all PCOS patients (in particular) to take as it can increase LH levels.

What's your LH level like in relation to your FSH level?.

Verity is the UK charitable based organisation for women wiht PCOS - you may want to look at their website which is www.verity-pcos.org.uk.
