Hi,

This is all very new to me so would like to make some TTC buddies :)

Let me tell you a little about myself:
Been with my SO for 2 years now and we're getting married in 31 days! I'm 26 (nearly 27) and my hubby2b is 35. We bought a house last year and feel like now is a good time to start a family!

This is my first cycle and I'm really excited but trying not to get my hopes up as seen that it's harder than it looks.

Any advice would be appreciated :) xxx

Hi Muffin I am OV as well this week (I hope, as no sign yet)

Does the 2 week window start the day after ovualtion?

MuffinHB · 20/06/2017 16:05

Thanks @AdrianaWeatherwax! I'm due on 6 July, so I have a few days longer to wait than you. I'm not planning on testing until the 8 July, though, as I want to be sure of the answer (and the whole debate about if you test too early it might come up as a negative but is actually a positive scares me slightly!).

A self-imposed Google ban would only work if we also don't mention symptoms to each other, and based on everyone's conversations so far I don't think that is going to work somehow! Grin

AdrianaWeatherwax · 20/06/2017 15:40

Welcome Muffin!

Ah, we're all in the same boat then. When's AF due for everyone? Mine is 01/07.

We should set a self-imposed google ban. Agreed that preg and AF symptoms being similar is a pest!

MuffinHB · 20/06/2017 15:33

@fireworks83 I keep telling myself not to over think it!

Also, it is rather annoying to know that all the early pregnancy symptoms could very easily be AF on her way! I am ovulating this week, so I am going to have to practice a lot of self-restraint with Google over the next few weeks.

Firework83 · 20/06/2017 15:29

@AdrianaWeatherwax yes I'm in my 2 week wait. It's only been 6 days so early on and I have sore boobs but I would do anyway with AF 10 days or so away!

@MuffinHB I'm in the same position - good luck!

MuffinHB · 20/06/2017 13:15

Hi everyone - mind if I join the party? This is my first TTC month, for #1. Fingers crossed and all that (but with a healthy dose of realism!).

AdrianaWeatherwax · 20/06/2017 12:42

Missy
People tend to say you should set the alarm to your usual wake up time if you're having a lie in, temp then go back to sleep. Hassle! Shifts make it difficult... unless you set one time for night and one for day?

I keep thinking my boobs hurt and nipples feel wierd then berate myself for imagining things.

Booksandstuff · 20/06/2017 12:18

MissyEm I'm in Hong Kong. Amazon doesn't deliver here, but wonder if I can buy from Ebay. Not sure what brands though? I bought 5 for £25 here the other day! All came back negative. Such a waste of money. Suffering with major AF pains so having a massive glass of wine this evening.

Fefifoefum · 20/06/2017 12:17

I'm not sure if I'm symptom spotting, but I'm so bloated! But I get this way before AF, and the boobs are so sore!
Enough about my bloated sore body! How do you guys think temp tracking would work on shifts? I do a mix of nights and days, so some days I get up at 5.30am, others I have a big fat lie in, and some I'm going to bed at 9am but never sleep well and I'm usually up and down to eat/wee etc on nights...

MissyEm · 20/06/2017 11:59

Where do you live @Booksandstuff ?

Amazon may sell at the same price, I bought some yesterday in Morrison's thinking they will be less than Boots,10 clear blue opks for £19!! Don't think I will be buying too many more boxes of them!

Booksandstuff · 20/06/2017 11:28

Thanks McTufty!

I haven't tracked ovulation yet. I had (naively) thought it would take less time to happen. But I'll start this month. Got my thermometer ready! Did a few sticks last month but they're really expensive where I live. Think I need to bulk buy when I'm back in the UK next. From what I've read, sounds like you had ovulation pain!

Hi Adriana! Do you recommend using the charts? Was planning on yelling the number at my DH every morning for him to jot down, but maybe I should go for something more sophisticated and scientific...

AdrianaWeatherwax · 20/06/2017 11:21

Thanks McTufty Smile checking with last month it should hopefully rise again tomorrow then I'm all good :-) that should equate to about half a degree.

Yes Missy, alarm goes off and I literally just roll over and grab the thermometer!
It's certainly worth testing again today Smile I got my peak on day 7. I think the surge means you'll ovulate within the next 12-24 hours?

MissyEm · 20/06/2017 11:14

Welcome **Booksandstuff. AF means fertile window is on route again, stay positive! Are you using an app to track?

You ladies are good, having the patience to measure temperature. I read that you have to do it before you even move from the bed. Is this what you do?

I am doing OPKs everyday this week which apprantly is the detailed week. No flashing or static smiley face yet. But peak number is apprantly tomorrow we we see when the happy face appears.

How long does the surge last? I notice some people are using OPKs twice a day does this mean I could miss it by only testing once? Tested this morning it was negative, should I test again today?

I am totally patient

McTufty · 20/06/2017 11:14

I'm no expert - I read some people are 'slow risers' whose temperature rises more slowly after ovulation and this is normal?

Otherwise no spike can be associated with low progesterone - worth asking doc about? Easily fixed if this is the case so could be worth looking into.

Disclaimer: I don't know how to read charts very well

AdrianaWeatherwax · 20/06/2017 10:18

What does it all mean arrgh not obsessing

AdrianaWeatherwax · 20/06/2017 10:16

Welcome booksandstuff, I'm an 8-monther too. Empathising.

Great news McTufty! Certainly sounds like it! My temp didn't spike as much as expected which is a tad concerning.

McTufty · 20/06/2017 09:56

Welcome booksandstuff! Sorry to hear AF is here. If you have irregular cycles, what do you do to track ovulation? I'm just getting used to it and am on my first few days using a BBT thermometer!

I think I ovulated this morning - LH surge Sunday and Monday morning went down by Monday afternoon, and I had some weird sharp twinging near my left ovary this morning. Only lasted a minute or so and no idea what ovulation pain feels like so who knows whether that was it!

Anyway we will see if I get a temperature rise tomorrow!

Booksandstuff · 20/06/2017 09:42

Hello! Please can I join? Like Firework I am new and don't really have a handle on the acronyms just yet!

I'm 30 and have been TTC for 8 months now. AF just arrived today (argh), but it's all over the shop every month as I have quite varied cycle lengths. Anyway, looking forward to following this thread and getting some good advice along the way!

AdrianaWeatherwax · 20/06/2017 06:27

@Firework is that you in the two week wait window? So hard not to symptom spot. I'll be trying to ignore my body as much as possible Confused.

MissyEm · 19/06/2017 22:18

@firework83, fingers crossed for you that you get you BFP soon !

Firework83 · 19/06/2017 13:56

Thanks @Mrstobe90 I will keep an eye out in a few days for symptoms. Feel ok today so who knows. Being at work at keeping distracted helps.

@MissyEm the reassurance is helpful thanks haha. My Mum had the menopause at 38 so I need to get cracking just in case!

Welcome @AdrianaWeatherwax - both newbies!

@Fefifoefum I feel like I have to be good... in a way I did it to check i was actually ovulating at all and I think if I started trying it on with my OH as much as suggested he'll know why and then feel the pressure to keeping it targeted haha.

Thank you @FrowningFlamingo ... yes getting there. All I knew up until this weekend was OMG and FML haha.

MissyEm · 19/06/2017 10:56

Damn it's annoying when you write a message and lose it!

Welcome @firework, I am 34 this summer. I believe that we are absolutely in a good position to conceive, 34 is ripe and certainly not an age to worry about.

I could not help myself and told my DH I was quite upset that he isn't around of all the weeks. I feel sooooooo guilty as his hours are crazy, not just late night but all day and through the night. However I am one happy lady as he took time out before work for me this morning - bring on the baby dust. It's going to sunshine all week Grin

@MummyG have you tried ginger in some form to help the nausea?

Mrstobe90 · 19/06/2017 09:33

mummyG poor you!! Hope you feel better! Thankfully my nausea has been very minimal. Really hope it doesn't get worse lol

@Fefifoefum I had two big glasses of wine the night before I found out I was pregnant. I wouldn't worry too much. This morning all Iv managed so far is to nibble at a trek bar 😷😷 nausea is getting worse xx

Good to hear! I literally never drink, so this is very unusual, but sunshine and sausages does that to me! And there was pimms, andddd gin!
But neither me or the husband drink most if the time so fingers crossed!
