Hi,

This is all very new to me so would like to make some TTC buddies :)

Let me tell you a little about myself:
Been with my SO for 2 years now and we're getting married in 31 days! I'm 26 (nearly 27) and my hubby2b is 35. We bought a house last year and feel like now is a good time to start a family!

This is my first cycle and I'm really excited but trying not to get my hopes up as seen that it's harder than it looks.

Any advice would be appreciated :) xxx

Thanks Adriana just needed a bit of a hand hold :)

Congrats MummyG!

MummyGofboys · 16/06/2017 11:58

@AdrianaWeatherwax literally found out 1 minute before the doctor called me. So she has booked me into midwife for two weeks time. That was the first response. I'm shocked. Shaking lol

AdrianaWeatherwax · 16/06/2017 11:51

Yaaaaas MummyG!!! Awesome news Grin

Check all you lucky bugger 😂

Hi Fairy :-) sometimes they ask for tests to be redone because they're inconclusive I think so it might just be that. Or perhaps they've picked up on a manageable deficiancy e.g. low iron levels - it's hard not to assume the worst but often these things turn out to be nothing.

MummyGofboys · 16/06/2017 11:36

Just got a BFP!!!!

FairyAnn · 16/06/2017 10:34

Hi all, can I join? I was on another thread but can't seem to find it anymore.

I'm 34 and TTC 1st time, have been trying for 6 months now.

I went for blood tests last week and now the doctors has called and said they need to redo one of the tests. Naturally, I'm starting to worry. Has anyone got any comforting words to offer?

AdrianaWeatherwax · 16/06/2017 10:30

😂 my vag and slightly bruised cervix (TMI) could probably deal another day but DH has MS and he's struggling to walk and stand today as it is - he's desperate for kids though so would shag himself into crutches if I didn't keep an eye out 😂

It's not actually the pain I'm worried about (can't get an epidural at our hospital!) and I realise billions go through it...ah the joys of irrational fears.

No idea when to count your weeks from, sorry! I just started logging my cycles and after a few months started to get an idea.

McTufty · 16/06/2017 09:47

*WANT not eat! When will I learn to preview my posts

McTufty · 16/06/2017 09:47

SmileSmileSmile

That is such lovely news you must be thrilled! I will definitely check out the preseed conception. Im buying every aid and supplement under the sun, our house now looks like Holland and Barrett! But I eat it so badly it's worth it!

frowningflamingo

Sailing with AF, not ideal but actually being busy will make the non-fertile days go quicker so you can get on with the business of baby making!

It was my DH who is the doctor - he's a surgeon so knows how to cut people up but that's about it! (fefi probably makes it even less likely you'd go near him eh? Grin). We are lucky to have lots of doctor friends from all specialities but I'm not telling people we are trying because I'm so scared I won't be able to conceive and I'd rather people didn't know yet. Obviously after a while people will guess I suppose but for now! As time goes on, I have a close female friend who is obs and gynae so I will probably confide in her if necessary.

adriana

Well if the OPK says to shag, you shag and your vag is just gonna have to deal!

I am scared of birth in the abstract but as at now I don't think about it too much. I just figure that it's something to be got through and women have been getting through it for thousands of years. So the pain I can rationalise (along with already knowing I want an epidural!) but I would be scared of baby not being born safely.

That's good to know though mummyG! My mum says the same, she says yes it hurts but it's exciting and the really awful bit towards the end doesn't last that long.

fefi that must be useful to know about the human body when it comes to TTC, I seem to spend my life on google these days!

To do bold, it's not a tag, you just click on the 'I' icon at the bottom and you can do it but there's no need really, I'm just in the habit.

Sorry if I've missed anyone!

No sign of anything resembling a symptom of a cycle here! I'm very bloated and have low level cramping so hopefully AF not too far away and I can get cracking.

In fairness to my body, had I still been on the pill, my bleed would have been tomorrow. I know that's not the test, but it gives me hope that I'm not massively late yet.

In fact, I took my final pill on 17 May. I've been taking the 2-4 weeks for period to come back from then. But actually, the change came when I didn't restart the next packet on 25 May. When should I count my weeks from? I guess I stopped having the hormones on 17 May but my body is used to that, so maybe it only jolted in on 25 when the new packet not forthcoming.

Ah well, sunny weekend coming up when I can try to relax and forget about it (yeah right!)

MummyGofboys · 16/06/2017 09:23

@TheLovelyOtherDinosaur get booked in asap.

Honestly childbirth isn't as bad as people make out. They love to give you a bad experience. My first was worse than my second but I still would do it again. Try and not panic. With my first I didn't read any books as I knew it was just something I had to go through to get my baby so I didn't want to have expectations.

TheLovelyOtherDinosaur · 16/06/2017 08:52

clickypenguin it's so tempting to test isn't it! I just thought a missed period is a good sign and just that bit closer to everything being ok! I think if I did get a bfp before a missed period I'd be super anxious over the next few days just waiting for it to unexpectedly turn up but if you think it might relieve that anxiety for you- do it!

Just wondering what to do now? Will be doctors surgery laugh me off the phone trying to book a midwife appointment this early on or does it need to be booked asap?

Fefifoefum · 16/06/2017 08:49

Flamingo- my DH isn't a doctor, different lady, but I am a nurse, which makes likelyhood of DH being doctor less imo! Ha!

My fertile zone (are we calling it a zone?!) it directly after my period, with a short cycle I guess that's how it is?!

Adri- also got THE FEAR about childbirth, I think I know too much, but not enough. I've had stories from friends in ITU etc etc, and also, there's that age old nurse/missive divide!

AdrianaWeatherwax · 16/06/2017 08:26

I was using Ovia but have now started using Fertility Friend and I think I prefer it.

No idea what to do if I get a peak OPK today, shagging 4 outta 5 days my vajayjay needs a rest!

I met one of my besties last night for coffee, she's due next Thursday with her first and naturally scared about the birth.
I have always had an irrational fear of childbirth, started having nightmares about it when I was 15. Well last night post-BD I suddenly got The Fear. "Shit, shit, what if I am pregnant?!" 😂 hardly slept! Of course by this morning I'm still hooooping for a BFP.

Clickypenguin02 · 16/06/2017 08:15

Lovely dinosaur Yay!!

I've got three days to go according to Ovia but might take one today Blush

MissyEm · 16/06/2017 08:11

@TheLovelyothersinodaur, what great Friday news! How exciting! Need to get me some of that per seed!

I really hope the Ovia app has my fertile window right!

Can I ask your how many days roughly after AF are your fertile windows?

AdrianaWeatherwax · 16/06/2017 07:30

Congratulations Dinosaur!! That's amazing news!! 😁😁

MummyGofboys · 16/06/2017 07:16

@TheLovelyOtherDinosaur oh my goodness congratulations. That's fabulous news 😍😍😍

TheLovelyOtherDinosaur · 16/06/2017 07:04

mummyG Arrghh!! How frustrating for you!
Thanks for all the positive vibes and baby dust! Well at the start of this thread I was having a chuckle at my husband who was like 'don't worry, we've got this in the bag, my super strong swimmers' etc etc.
Well, we've only gone and got a bfp on our first cycle! Took a cb and there it is! I can't quite believe it- I know it's only early days but I think like fifi said you spend so long trying not to get pregnant and worry that you won't when you try!

Anyway, what I wanted to say to you all was try using pre-seed conception fluid. I went on amazon as someone had mentioned it and there are sooo many good reviews about people getting bfp on their first go etc so thought I would give it a go too! It's a little pricey but it seems to have worked for us 😃.
Sending baby dust and positive vibes to all!!

MummyGofboys · 16/06/2017 06:37

Three days late!!! No test song today. FRER is supposed to be being delivered today so will do a test on Sunday if AF hasn't arrived so I'm not worrying about doing tough mudder. How is everyone?

FrowningFlamingo · 15/06/2017 23:49

Welcome fefi :) what sort of doctor is DH? He must have medical school friends he can bother for gynaecology advice ;)

Fingers crossed for all you weekend testers. AF still here with gusto - I'm away sailing all weekend which is not the ideal time to have to manage tampons etc :/ oh well, I'll battle through with extra gin!!

MissyEm · 15/06/2017 23:24

Ladies I can't keep up and remember what to after reading 3 pages of thread Grin

@Fififoefum, welcome. I totally agree with what you said. You work just as hard to not get pregnant as you do to! I still can't get over the 24hr or so window we have per month! Make DTD count!!

@MummyG, everything is crossed that you get a positive answer this weekend to relieve your frustration.

@Dinosaur EWCM can only be a good sign Smile

How is it almost Friday again, I will be joining you too MummyG and Mctufty. Take advantage of the days between AF and the fertile window!

Fefifoefum · 15/06/2017 22:29

Thank you lovelies!
I have no idea how you've both done the fancy bold name tagging type thing!
Adri- AF due the 27th, I'm a bit worried about short cycles, if you google it, it's not great, something about lutel phases?! The 27th is also payday, so they'll be some cheer anyways!

Mctufty- I literally don't know why I panicked my whole life about not getting preggers until now! I was so religious with missed pills/extra protection etc, not reading up on it, it actually seems quite difficult! Also, I have been a bloody gannet post wedding, I'm officially 9 (NINE!) pound heavier, a pound on for every week. I.need.to.stop.

Also, ladies, which apps etc are you using?

McTufty · 15/06/2017 21:37

adriana lol!!! I wouldn't normally but I got married at the end of May and the fear of fitting into my very tight dress meant that I decided to save it for after honeymoon (and I'm only just back!)

Welcome fefi! Well done for not making my mistake and coming off the pill in advance! I am so ready for a baba too, fingers crossed for us!

mummyG what lovely - if crazy - ages! I have nephews that age who are brothers. I adore them! I hope you had a relaxing evening. Yeah DH is quite useful sometimes - not sure he knows too much about gynaecology but still probably more than I do!

AdrianaWeatherwax · 15/06/2017 21:22

Still shocked that McTufty still has easter chocolate! Was it hidden behind an old box of cornflower?! Because I can't fathom how it's survived this long...

Welcome, Fefi! DTD in indeed correct :-) that's great you're staying relaxed. And congrats on your wedding! When would AF usually arrive for you?

Fefifoefum · 15/06/2017 19:15

Hello! Can I join in?! All new to me, but I need to chat!

I'm 28 and my hussssband (thats new we got married in April) is 34. First time TTC, we started this month following a break because we honeymooned in mexico (zika, eek!).
Been off the pill for a year or so and using good ok' fashioned condoms because my skin was behaving badly on the pill. But I have a very short 23 day cycle, regular as clockwork, but just trying to track it to ensure we DTD (is that right?!) around the right time! Trying to stay relaxed and not be too full on! But oh boy are we ready for a baba!

MummyGofboys · 15/06/2017 18:46

Oh that must be reassuring having a doctor as a husband. The cramping is so annoying isn't it. Gin and an Easter egg sounds amazing.

I think we will put a good film on and chill out. I'm a childminder and have a full day tomorrow so going to get an early night.

They are 4 and 3. The eldest starts school in August and the youngest starts pre school same time. There is 18 months between them. The eldest is dying for a baby sister lol
