We are a bunch of ladies who are either

  • humping (TTC)
  • by humping yet (waiting to TTC)
  • humped (BFP)

And everything in between!

We've had 8 BFPs since January (and counting!) and we love a bit of lucky lube and a squinter on 9DPO - come and join the madness!

Buzz that's such a cute announcement! Will this be the first grandchild? I'm thinking of giving my mum the little baby hat I bought in holland with DD.

Paha hb bet you looked fine with just one eyeliner flick 😂

seven the quilt looks amazing! Well done you!

We told DPs mum and dad and family. My niece has a little mini theatre and she was putting on little shows, I said let's do one and everyone was watching as we opened the curtains and held up the scan photo. Their faces were priceless!

Seven0fNine · 14/04/2017 13:44

Oh that's what else I said before it got deleted...

parsnips I can't believe she said that! Please take no notice and do what you want! It's your life and your perfectly entitled to have a family whenever you like! Grrr!

Seven0fNine · 14/04/2017 13:40

Baaah just typed a long post then the stupid phone reloaded page and it was gone 😭

Anyway I'll try and remember what I said...

buzz yay so glad everything is OK. What a cute blob! How big is it?

So excited to hear about the pregnancy announcements.

Grumpy please know we always have your back. Maybe speaking to your midwife about your feelings will help too?

Spoke to DH about my diet plans and that I find it really difficult when he's not doing it too. So we have agreed to eat healthy and I will carry on with diet and he will have some carbs as his new job is very physical so he's starving! I'll just cook two versions of the same tea and make him some potatos or rice to fill him up lol!

Baby quilt for my sisters friend is going well. So pleased I managed to line up all the squares! Just need to get some backing fabric and something thick and warm for the middle now. What a shame...will have to go to the fabric shop... 🙄😁

Aww buzz glad the scan went well. Must've been amazing to hear the heartbeat.

hB love the announcement plans - so cute!

I think I'm going to reflect on the chat and see how I feel closer to August. I don't really want to do any testing as I think the tests are not the be all and end all and like you say they don't show the whole story anyway.

I also think law firms will always act in their own interest and screw you over if it suits them so I'd have no guarantees that I'd get promoted in the next few years and then I could give up some fertile years for nothing.

The best joke is this woman is meant to champion our gender equality efforts!! Honestly the jokes write themselves here.

Congrats buzz glad the scan went well. Hearing the heartbeat must be so special

hb love the idea of a baby doll and your cards sound great.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 14/04/2017 13:20

Congrats buzz that must've been lovely to hear the heartbeat xx

Parastars · 14/04/2017 13:07

Lovely Buzz bet it was such an amazing feeling ❤

HbH · 14/04/2017 12:42

MrsC are you ok, you're quiet! Hope you're having easter fun rather than swamped with nausea x

HbH · 14/04/2017 12:38

Awwwww buzz so pleased you got to hear a heartbeat & it went well! Maybe you ov'd well late... makes sense with it not showing up on a test til much later.

parsnips that's a pretty bold thing to say to you, especially having no insight in to so many personal factors! I'm not even sure a fertility test would tell the whole story. As I understand it can indicate your egg reserves but probably doesn't take into account quality, wider issues or sperm! (Not saying there are issues, just that's it's not so black & white) go with your gut!

otters I've made a 'congratulations, you're going to be grandparents' card for DH mum/partner. Mine, a bit more fun! Have got a baby doll for my 1yo nephew to open and it will have a tag saying something like, to help prep for your cousin, arriving Dec!

Baby brain earlier.... left the house with one eyeliner flick 😂 Never happened before! Luckily i caught it in the rearview mirror on the way to work!

buzzmoon · 14/04/2017 12:02

parsnips id completely ignore her! Can't believe she said that tbh! It's your life, your body, your career and your baby and you can do what you want!

Penguin27 · 14/04/2017 12:01

Oh x-post! Glad it went well ❤️ Must be such a surreal feeling to see your baby for the first time!

Penguin27 · 14/04/2017 12:00

Parsnips I'm shocked that she would say something like that to you! And I can understand your bemusement at DH's response... There's a lot of pressure on women to have it all and unfortunately I really don't think it's possible - not until our later years, at least! Taking time off work to have a baby will undoubtedly affect your career, but it won't be the end of it! Do what's right for you.

How was the scan buzz?

buzzmoon · 14/04/2017 11:58

Hi! Scan went well! So so relieved, feel so much calmer now! Heard the heartbeat and was the best sound. Measuring smaller than 9w at 7+4 so will see what 12 week scan shows and if they'll change my date to 27th November.

Hope everyone's okay ❤️

Morning all

How did your scan go buzz ?

Good luck with the family announcements this weekend. Anyone planning anything elaborate or just come out with it?

tigger hope you have a lovely relaxing weekend. If you feel ready then just go for it. There's no right or wrong with these and as you say take full advantage of the increased fertility.

parsnips agree with what's been said here. You should do what you think is best. I know a lot of people who concentrated on their careers first and they regret it deeply. You can't have your youth back and TTC and pregnancy is definitely easier when you're younger. Unfortunately our body clocks are real and someone told me you can't Botox your ovaries!

dancing how are you doing?

HopefullyDothButterNoParsnips · 14/04/2017 10:05

She is a partner in a different team to me so she has no real incentive to keep me around directly. I wondered if she herself is leaving the firm but not sure. She deliberately waited until she was 39 to have her child. She said I should put career first even if that means moving firms which I thought was strange (that's why I think she might be leaving as very odd for a partner to encourage someone to move to another firm). I know what you mean about the legal point - but employment rights aren't so well established in the Middle East so she is probably just telling me the truth. Sometimes I feel like it's still the 1950s! I'm annoyed at DH too as when I told him he was basically like oh well you don't mind anyway do you because you're not that fussed on your career anyway! 😳

Morning everyone. Well I'm back on a regular cycle this month - Aunt Bitch showed up today.

tigger glad you and your OH got time to connect last night

parsnips I'd ignore her - she might be thinking she's doing you a favour saying that but everyone has different priorities. I waited until the right time career and finance wise and now wish I had started earlier.

Sorry you have so many plane journeys lately grumpy - hope you enjoy the trip though

Tigger83 · 14/04/2017 09:50

Parsnips yes taking a break from your career will have a short term impact BUT it will not impact your long term future in any way shape or form it's for you to decide how you manage your career and your life. Your manager has no idea of how you intend to manage your return to work or how you intend to manage your child care and she does not have a crystal ball to say what will happen in the future.

It's your life and your choice on how you live it. As long as it doesn't impact on performance it's none of her business.

JB1983 · 14/04/2017 09:39

Parsnips I can't believe she said that to you. I'm not even sure if employers are legally even allowed to say that to you! It sounds like she probably wants you around for selfish reasons. Imagine if you put off TTC and then had issues and had lost 3 years of trying, what would your boss say then. I think I would cry if I was told to wait another 3 years, having a 6 month break from trying felt like torture.

Parastars · 14/04/2017 09:30

Hopefully I kind of understand what she was saying, as I feel the same about my own career. However, I want a baby more! It's hard to tell whether she was being honest, looking out for you or had an ulterior motive, but you have to put whatever you want first.
As Grumpy says, if you were to have a baby and then still want to progress with your career, go for it!

Have a lovely Easter weekend, everyone.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 14/04/2017 09:17

FFS parsnips that sucks! So strange of her - could it be that she doesn't want you to go on leave for her own reasons? Or you don't impact her team? Maybe she was trying to be helpful but I think that babies can cause career to pause a bit no matter what level you are. If you are still motivated when you come back, and have good childcare, no reason why you can't progress. Personally I'd say younger is better for physical reasons. Work isn't everything. I just got a new boss in the US who I'll have to tell after less than a year of working for him. Not ideal in terms of proving myself but I think there's never a right time.

HopefullyDothButterNoParsnips · 14/04/2017 09:01

Best of luck with the announcements this weekend. Let us all know how they go!

I've had such a strange week in work. I've been involved in a number of high profile initiatives across the office and ended up having a conversation with one of the senior partners about some of my frustrations at work. It's been doing my head in lately!

She asked me if I was looking elsewhere and I said no as we are likely to start a family soon. I felt like it was ok to confide in her. She said I should seriously think about the impact a baby will have on my career and she recommends that I put my family plans on hold for three years or my career will 'stagnate' and that would be 'a real shame' as I'll have nothing to show for all my hard work.

I'm just totally dumbfounded by her comments. She thinks I should have a fertility test to see if I have time left and then I'll know if I have a few years to play with. !!!!!

Part of me wonders if she is just being honest and trying to do me a favour by telling me this. I told DH and he thinks doing the test is a good idea! I feel like I'm on my own in all this tbh.

Hey tigger glad the pain and bleeding is better. That sounds like a really positive and productive weekend you have planned. Hope you and OH can feel positive about moving forward x

TheGrumpySquirrel · 14/04/2017 08:54

Good luck buzz! Will be thinking of you.
LA trip is on 25 April. Hope I feel a bit better by then or it will have to be Valium all the way.

I'm home today but flying to France tomorrow to see the family. Not sure yet if we will tell! DD is back tonight - I can't wait to see her - she is so wise and calm and gives me lots of cuddles.

I've lost 1.5kg since the food poisoning incident and I'm forcing some toast into me this morning. Managed a slice of cheese. Then I'm going out to get apples and going to the department store to treat myself to some nice soft bras.

Tigger83 · 14/04/2017 08:48

Morning all. Good luck everyone with the announcements and buzz hope the scan goes well.

I'm ok my oh and I walked down to the pub last night and had a drink. He's bottling up his emotions so we're not quite back to our usual rhythm if that makes sense. Although feels better this morning.

Pain is a lot better, apart from the very slight bleeding straight after there's been nothing really since which I'm taking as a good thing?!

Pregnancy tests are slowly getting lighter I just want that bfn to come now so we can properly move on.

Not sure if we're going to wait for first period or just go for it when I get my negative? I'm edging towards just going for it, think I feel ready for it and want to take advantage of increased fertility after miscarriage.

Planning on getting out in the garden this weekend and clearing out the loft as we've got a skip.

Hope everyone has a lovely long weekend!
