Hi starting trying for a second child over a year ago. So far I've had an early miscarriage and an eptopic. Finding it quite a lonely process anyone in a similar boat fancy keeping me company?

Oh and user, I only had a day 21 test which confirmed progesterone was low. GP fairly clueless though and lacking interest so just waiting on the specialist. DD is about to be 2 so not drastic yet but I had been determined to have a two year gap and now know I'm looking at 3+. Lots of her little friends are about to get baby siblings and she is fascinated by babies and I'm convinced she'll be asking for one!!

boatrace30 · 10/05/2017 21:44

mummy, that probably means you ovulated on day 25, making your luteal phase 10 days which is a little short. Mine is usually 8-9, all still possible as eggs take 6-12days to implant. We need them to be quickZ

user I think progesterone can be a factor with miscarriages. I had a lot of bleeding with DD and was classed as a threatened miscarriage until 16weeks. Looking back I wonder if progesterone was low. I only managed to get referred by. Along a fuss, as pcos was diagnosed years ago I have an underlying medical condition which means you can get referred a bit quicker. Honestly the policy on 3 miscarriages is understandable but horrible Sad

Mummy081212 · 10/05/2017 21:17

So last month, I got my LH surge on day 24 and my cycle was 35 days long. Is this OK or is that classed as a short phase? x

user1490261811 · 10/05/2017 21:02

Thanks boatrace. How old is your little one? I often wonder about progesterone too and if that was a factor in my miscarriages. Have you had any tests? Unfortunately my GP won't refer me for any unless I have a third miscarriage.

SweetDee33 · 10/05/2017 20:59

Hi can I join? 38, been ttc #2 since Sept 2015. Been for blood tests, now booked in for ultrasounds on 5 June. I feel so down about it all, such a failure. I'm so pleased to hear some positive stories on here, congratulations @feelingold! Flowers

boatrace30 · 10/05/2017 20:50

Luteal phase is the time between ovulation and your period. If it's too short the egg has no chance to implant.

user, so sorry about your miscarriages. Must be so hard. I'm also worried about the age gap. I really wanted it to be small as there are six years between me and my brother and we were never close.
Nearly all my nct friends are pregnant which makes it even harder

user1490261811 · 10/05/2017 20:36

Hi everyone, I'm in the same boat. I have a lovely 3 year old daughter and I desperately want her to have a sibling. I had a miscarriage in June last year and another one in January - the second one has been harder to cope with as we had an early scan and saw a heartbeat. I'm still struggling with the loss. I try to convince myself I'm relaxed about everything, but really I think about having another baby all day, every day and how the age gap is getting bigger and bigger. I can't bear to hear about friend's pregnancies and feel ashamed of myself for not being able to share in their joy.

Mummy081212 · 10/05/2017 20:21

Can someone explain luteal phase to me please? x

boatrace30 · 10/05/2017 19:50

Hi everyone. I'm ten months in and cycle 7 just ended with AF arriving today.
I have pcos historically and have discovered this time that I have a short luteal phase and I suspect, low progesterone.
I expected it to be tough with no.1 and got pregnant five months in. Expected it to be a bit easier this time but not proving to be.

curliegirlie · 10/05/2017 17:25

Congratulations feeling old! I'm only 7 months in (on cycle 8) ttc#2 but am feeling it very trying. I've been off the mini pill (which I was only on for a few weeks) since my DD was 4 months old, but my periods only returned in September, when she was 13 months. It took 16 months to conceive her, but for much of that time I had undiagnosed hypothyroidism, which is now under control, so I suppose I hoped this time would be quicker. In the meantime, 3 of my NCT gang are now pregnant and I'm desperate to join them!

feelingold101 · 10/05/2017 17:09

I just wanted to give everyone abit of hope, I found out today that I'm finally pregnant. It WILL happen for you all!!

SayenRose · 06/04/2017 18:20

Hi everyone,
Trying to conceive #3 for coming up to a year now.
Conceived #1 & #2 easily 11 & 6 years ago but this was with an ex.

This would be my husband's first child and we've recently discovered we have male factor infertility Sad we've been referred for more investigations and are potentially faced with IVF.
Still ttc naturally but have stopped tracking now to avoid heartache.

Itsjustaphase84 · 06/04/2017 16:46

Metal thank you for that.

Soulcakequack · 06/04/2017 14:57

It 18 months with my first child and one misscarriage. Mentally being at the same piont but with two miscarriages feels shitty. I worry the clock is ticking as im 37 soon.

Metalhead that really does cheer me up!!

ScarletSienna · 05/04/2017 23:11

Thanks, Metal Flowers

Wibblewobble100 · 05/04/2017 21:06

Me too. No1 was conceived easily, for number two we are 16 months and 3 miscarriages in...

Metalhead · 05/04/2017 20:28

Hi, I just came on here to say I know exactly how you feel, and to give you all some hope. I was on a long-running thread here a little while ago that had a very similar title, and I'm happy to say that almost all of the ladies on that thread eventually succeeded in getting baby #2, including myself. Lots of us had to wait 1-2 years, lots of us had one or more mc along the way, but don't give up hope! Good luck to you all Flowers

feelingold101 · 05/04/2017 17:03

Soulcakequack sorry to hear that! I haven't yet come on my period but I can feel the cramps starting so I hold out no hope!

ScarletSienna · 05/04/2017 14:35

Me. First pregnancy started in first cycle of trying but this time I've only had one period and I'm guessed breastfeeding is stopping everything.

Soulcakequack · 05/04/2017 14:32

Hi ladies sorry to see we're all in the same boat but nice to have someone who understands to chat to.

Today was the start of my period so another failed cycle. Plus my little boys preschool are worried about him and want to have him assessed by an inclusion officer. I just want to cry.

I came on to tell you you're not alone. Everyone above plus me.

Conceived DS1 easily 7 years ago. Second time round it's so much harder. One MMC amd two CP later and we still don't have our second baby.

I think outwardly it's worth remaining positive but it's also ok to sometimes feel upset/frustrated/lonely.

feelingold101 · 04/04/2017 22:51

My DD is 4 and a half and I'm now 28 so I'm not sure it's that for me. I am 2 and a half stone heavier but I'm not sure that's enough weight to actually effect fertility, my doctor didn't seem to think it was.

Writerwannabe83 · 04/04/2017 22:25

feelingold - are you much older now than when you were trying for your first baby?

I was 29 when I fell pregnant first cycle with DS and 33 when trying for DC2 and it taking 11 months. I know 33 isn't exactly old but I did wonder if the fact I was older was also playing a part.

feelingold101 · 04/04/2017 19:57

I also fell pregnant on my first cycle with my first DD and that makes this even harder for me.
I went to my doctor to ask about scans or blood tests etc but they told me that in this borough they will only do that from 18months after my MC as I have proven I can get pregnant and carry a child full term (with DD)
