Hi all, can I join?
Have been lurking in this thread for a few days so decided to post and introduce myself!
DP and I are not so much "TTC" as leaving the door open for things to happen naturally at the moment Smile but reading this thread I'm doubtful we will be lucky enough for things to just happen!! I admire the effort, strength and determination you all have! We are getting married in August so we are getting on it very quickly but we both always knew we wanted to start a big family! I am 6dpo at the moment but not expecting anything this month as it is only our first cycle on the job!
So anyway, hi! Grin

charl19 · 25/04/2017 08:09

Good luck with the ultrasound emma and welcome to the group! Sorry have been awol- had a very busy weekend! X

littleemma1 · 25/04/2017 07:57

Sorry, typo above... have you had the chat with your OH about how this works in terms of your body?

littleemma1 · 25/04/2017 07:56

We certainly are!!
I'm having some problems though so backwards and forwards to the docs ATM. My 1st cycle was 47 days and my second 35 days but for my 3rd cycle I'm now on day 61 😣 I had constant cramping for nearly 3 weeks so I'm off for an ultrasound today. So scared! 😐

I'm on a variety of vitamins... starflower and primrose oil, vitamin b complex and agnas cactus. Also gonna look at getting folic acid too.

If you do want to learn a little more about your body and ovulation, I would recommend OPK's but just the internet cheapies if you just want to know more, the CB ones are meant to be the best but come at quite an expense! And as you'll see by above posts can start to drive you slightly insane with the smiley face!

Since coming off the pill and talking to these girls it's made me realise it's not like they tell you in school!
Have you had the chat with your OH about how this isn't actually going to work in terms of what your body does to get pregnant? A lot of men think it's just a simple 1 day try bless them, again referring to above posts!

Good luck, and I think adopting the see how it goes attitude is the best in the beginning!

ConfusedWannaBeMum · 24/04/2017 21:57

Oh Emma so we are at exactly the same stage now! Smile

My vitamins have arrived today so will start taking them. Have done a lot of reading online about discharge, fertile times etc. I think I figured we'd just have some fun for now and try but it all sounds very complex and almost competitive Grin Always felt quite knowledgable about my body and cycles but there still seems to be new stuff to discover.

I have no idea when my ovulation would be due to the irregular periods. And I have ibs so cramps quite a lot. Felt a funny pain on the left side all day today though which feels like it's related.

littleemma1 · 24/04/2017 21:08

Ps. Ultrasound tomorrow so will post updates as and when I get them 😖

littleemma1 · 24/04/2017 21:08

Hi confused!! Welcome!
I came off the pill in December too but not officially TTC just yet, we're seeing how it goes!
@forever that is so sweet! Men really don't understand how the woman's body works 😂🙈

Forevertimes · 24/04/2017 14:58

Thanks @ttc and @twisted! Even though he's been so stressed with work he is being great at the moment.

Fx @ttc!

I started taking folic acid this cycle too, will see if that helps with anything.

ttcnovice · 24/04/2017 12:26

Morning (or afternoon!) all, how is everyone getting on?

My CB OPK still said "high" this morning, but I woke up with a pinching/stitch like pain on my left hand side low down. The test line on the OPK has also gone much fainter than it had been, so I'm thinking I might have missed the surge last night and I'm ovulating today? Really annoying if so as I've been testing in the evenings too with IC's, but I was out last night for a friend's engagement meal so missed the chance to do one - typical that the one night I miss might be the night I'd have had a positive result! We also didn't get the chance to DTD yesterday with being out, so I'm annoyed at myself for that, although we did the day before and this morning too just in case, so fx anyway!

Think I will still carry on testing just to see what happens, then I've covered all bases!

ConfusedWannaBeMum · 23/04/2017 22:27

Thank you!

I don't think so somehow as my periods are so irregular and I know my mum had issues conceiving. So I'm trying to accept it might take a while. I'm 29 so not too Worried age wise yet.

DH would have preferred to wait a few more months so we are taking it slowly. I'll try not to obsess over testing for ovulation all the time Grin I do hope I'm wrong and it all goes fairly quickly though.

Funny how you're paranoid about pregnancy for years and hope that there's no mishap. But then TTC seems so complex and long!

ttcnovice · 23/04/2017 22:15

Good luck confused hopefully you'll be one of the lucky ones who conceive on cycle number 1! Fx for you 🤞🏼

ConfusedWannaBeMum · 23/04/2017 22:03

Ok great. I've ordered some vitamins which should arrive tomorrow.

ttcnovice · 23/04/2017 21:34

I think the advice is just a 'best case scenario' kind of thing, so I don't think I'd delay if it was me! People have surprise pregnancies after all so only start taking them once they are already into the pregnancy. I'm sure you'd be fine starting on them now and beginning straight away!

ConfusedWannaBeMum · 23/04/2017 21:18

Hello you two, thanks for the welcome!

I knew the pill was obviously going to influence periods for a while but I am quite surprised I have only had two periods this year so far.

I didn't realise you should take the vitamins theee months beforehand.. Should I do that and delay for now?

ttcnovice · 23/04/2017 20:30

Hi Confused welcome Smile. They say to take folic acid for three months before TTC so I'd say to start taking that. A lot of the preconception multivitamins have it in already, so you can just take everything all in one tablet (I take "pre pregnancy" ones by Centrum that have it in for example). Best of luck and feel free to jump into the conversation on here whenever you want, as flat said, everyone's so lovely and supportive!

Flatwhite31 · 23/04/2017 14:44

Welcome @ConfusedWannaBeMum! This is such a lovely, supportive thread. You'll love it! Not surprised you're excited, yet a little terrified. I feel exactly as you do.

I'm a previous pill taker too. I stopped the pill at the end of Feb, and am just approaching the end of cycle 2. I got my first proper period 28 days after the pill withdrawal bleed, but it was lighter than I was expecting. Who knows when my next one will arrive. I am 99% sure we haven't been successful this cycle despite lots of DTD - you know when you just have that gut feeling? We haven't bothered obsessing about it for cycles 1 and 2, particularly as we have just got back from our honeymoon. I'm taking folic acid and Vit D, but I'm thinking about starting some pre conception vitamins too if we aren't successful. Best of luck trying, and enjoy Smile

ConfusedWannaBeMum · 23/04/2017 13:47

Should I start taking supplements right away?

ConfusedWannaBeMum · 23/04/2017 13:42

Hello,

DH and I have agreed we'd like to start a family soon. I'm super excited and terrified at the same time.

I stopped the pill in December but my periods have been super irregular since then. My last two cycles were 65 and 43 days respectively.

I have quite an obsessive personality (I like to be in control) but I think for now we might just stop using condoms and see where things go.

ttcnovice · 23/04/2017 11:09

Forever that is so sweet! I think he deserves another "try" for that Grin.

Another day, another "high" flashing smiley OPK for me 😑. I think at this point if I ever see the "peak" static smiley again I will probably die with the shock!

Twistedsister7 · 22/04/2017 20:30

Awwww forever your DH sounds lovely xx
