You don't actually have to disclose what you need the appointment for I'm sure. Whether you book an emergency on the day one or book one for a few days time.

Kitcaty · 26/02/2017 12:22

I was 7 days late when I phoned the doctor on Friday and they said to wait another week and then make an appointment if still no period. So maybe try phoning your doctors when you are a week late and see what they say. Different surgery may say something different.

tuxie11 · 26/02/2017 11:25

kitcaty I completely agree. I might go get an Asda test later but more so I'm kind of just hoping my period is a little outta wack and it's the longest I've ever had. Not sure why I assumed the 28 day cycle I had to start with would be my normal pattern. I've always been regular and never once had a late period so it does mess with your head.

I've been googling like a mad woman all morning since I got back from the gym! Limboland is the worst 😞 I know I just need to take another test - how long should I leave it til I call the docs if still getting a BFN? Over a week late?

Kitcaty · 26/02/2017 11:05

Morning.

Im not sure who we would tell. It would be nice to keep it secret for a few weeks but we'd probably be way to excited. We may feel differently once it actually happens.

Tuxie, after I came off the pill I had a 32 day and then 33 day cycle. Now on day 42 and had BFN from Superdrugs first response, boots own cheapy brand and clear blue digital. I have now given up on my period. Going away tomorrow for 4 nights and knowing my luck AF will show up then and spoil my fun as wanted to have a spa day while away and do a lot of swimming. Going to see the doctor when I'm back if still no AF or BFP but they wouldn't see me before hand which is so annoying.

It's so horrible not knowing what's happening to your body. I thought my cycles would be messed up after stopping the pill but didn't expect to have two normal cycles and then this.

mrsjkerry · 26/02/2017 10:39

Morning all.

The only people I would tell before 12 weeks would be my best friend, my sister and maybe my dad. I'm not sure I'd tell my MiL or any of my husband's family. I would be very excited though and it'd be difficult to keep it down.... I do think it's silly to go around telling people. It's a bit like counting your eggs isn't it? My best friend has told a bunch of her friends and she's only 6 weeks.

Tuxie the pill can mess your period up for months after you come off, so prepare for anything! You need to wait a lot longer for your cycles to even themselves out. Having said that, it's still a good sign there's no AF. Try a different brand and see what happens.

Had a few too many last night so woken up feeling guilty just in case!! So hard not to get down about things sometimes even tho I'm the one saying just to enjoy yourself! 😂😩

tuxie11 · 26/02/2017 09:41

TTC haha love the 'catch up' bit!
I agree too, would want to have some support for whatever happened. My MIL is so excited for us to have a child too so would want to share that as soon as we could with her!

Oh really, I thought that FRER were the holy grail and if it was a negative on there than kinda ruled it all out?

ttcnovice · 26/02/2017 09:28

Tuxie I've heard very mixed reviews on FRER's with some people saying they had BFP's on other less sensitive tests, but still BFN on the FRER. So I think it's definitely worth trying a different a brand just in case! Asda's own brand are supposed to be really reliable, I bought a few packs last cycle, only £3.50 for two tests.

Marie I think I might have been a little drunk last night - first thing I said to DH when I got home was that I needed to catch up with "the TTCers on mumsnet" Grin. I'm with you that I'd definitely tell my mum straight away when we get our BFP, and probably MIL too. Like you I think we would want their support if something were to go wrong. It's great that you have a close friend who understands the TTC process, I can imagine it's nice having someone close to sound off to about it all! One of my close friends is actually pregnant at the moment (due any day now), but because her pregnancy wasn't planned I don't really want to put my stress about it on her - I think she would feel guilty that it's not happening for us yet when it happened for her so easily, bless her! It would be lovely to have a DC quite close in age to hers though, so fx!

tuxie11 · 26/02/2017 09:16

I think we would tell both sets of parents after we found out but cautiously that it's early days. I would wait to tell most people til last 12 weeks and I know everything is ok though.

Beginning to think perhaps the FRER are right, and my cycle is out of wack due to the pill. Is this possible?! I had a withdrawal bleed end of Dec as expected, then into a 28 day cycle for Jan - which I'm now on CD32. If two FRER are negative then I think it's likely I'm probably just into a cycle where I was lucky to go to 28 day but now settling around. I'm now just hoping to get my period ASAP really Sad

Marie90 · 26/02/2017 09:02

TTC you make me laugh!! Sounds like you had a great day!
I must admit... I've told one or two of my close mates we're TTC. One has a 10month old and so knows how obsessive TTC can become so she's been a real help! I find I needed those closest to me to know so that I wouldn't have to make up excuses about not drinking etc!!
I also think that my mum will know when we do get our BFP before the 12 week scan that everyone usually waits for. Again, so that the support is there if something were to go wrong!

What's everyone's thoughts on this? Would you wait or tell?

tuxie11 · 26/02/2017 08:47

Morning ladies, TTC glad you had a great day. I've had the same with my friends, only one knows - gets tiresome fending them off!

FRER this morning was negative and I'm now on CD32 so god knows what's going on Confused Might get a different brand test later and try. God this is frustrating!

Stowie3012 · 25/02/2017 23:40

Ahh thanks everyone 😊 we've got a little holiday planned in march, so I'm planning to visit my GP if everything hasn't settled down by then. I've also bought a load of ovulation sticks so I can test every day in the mean time just so I don't miss it.
It's so hard not to get my hopes up and yes I literally want to slap everyone that tells me to be patient 😂
This site is helping already just by knowing I'm not on my own 😘

ttcnovice · 25/02/2017 23:36

Well I am bloody knackered after all that typing! You miss a day on here and come back and have to type a novel Grin.

ttcnovice · 25/02/2017 23:34

Twisted sorry about the BFN but it is definitely still so early! Glad you're making the most of your weekend away, a hot tub and brie sounds heavenly! Enjoy!!

Tuxie good luck for testing tomorrow! Feeling really positive for you if you're cycles are usually all spot on under 30 days! Eek!

Enjoy the hen do Misty - it's good to let your hair down amongst the TTC stress I think! Once I did today I really enjoyed just having a laugh with the girls and not thinking about TTC 24/7 for once!

Sounds promising Marie 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 for you!

It's early days mrsj stay positive! What day are you testing next week?

Welcome Stowie you'll soon get used to all the TTC (trying to conceive) lingo on here! 5 periods sounds rough but just try to remember it's your body's way of sorting itself out to get your cycles back on track! What ovulation tests are you using? You could just be missing your surge so I wouldn't necessarily assume you aren't actually ovulating yet. Hope everything settles down for you ASAP Smile xx

ttcnovice · 25/02/2017 23:25

Evening everyone, sorry been a bit AWOL the last 24 hours! How's everyone's weekend going? I'm going to read up on what I've missed now Smile.

Been out all day today with my best friends for lunch, shopping and the inevitable cocktails to follow plus a huge pizza on the way home Grin. I felt really anxious over how I was going to avoid drinking, but in the end I just thought it won't do any harm so I had a couple of cocktails. Sipped as slowly as possible though, and the universe did me a huge favour by making me knock my last one over after only a few sips! Feigned having spent too much earlier on shopping to buy a replacement which they all seemed to accept thankfully! Had the predictable "are you trying for a baby yet?" questions, but I managed to fend them off I think anyway! Feels horrible lying to my best friends but it's such a private thing isn't it!

Kitcaty · 25/02/2017 19:52

Stowie, oh the "be patient"! Doesn't that make you want to slap them? It does me

tuxie11 · 25/02/2017 18:30

Charl, it's nice to have a natter Smile I agree too. Plenty of people don't realise they are PG and do much worse and life is for living!

Stowie - oh wow 5 periods?! That's a lot, poor you! I can't comment on the ovulation sticks (OPK's) as I've never done one but if you've had so many it doesn't sound like your cycle is long enough. Have you talked to your GP?

Stowie3012 · 25/02/2017 16:54

Can I join? I have no idea what all the abbreviations mean 🙈 Sorry for being a total newb!
Had my implant removed 17th December last year and have had 5 periods since then! I'm trying my best to track my cycle but it's so hard. I have done loads of ovulation tests but every one has been negative 😥 Does this mean I'm not having a proper cycle. I'm so sick of everyone telling me to be patient!!

I'm 31 and this is our first attempt!

charl19 · 25/02/2017 15:49

Hope you all have a good weekend ladies! Sorry I don't feel I have much to add to the conversation sometimes 😂 but I'm really enjoying general chat from people in the same boat as me- very reassuring! I've decided not to test this month unless AF doesn't show up - but not sure when exactly could be as would be due 2nd march but this is my first month off the pill so could mean anything I guess?!

Hope you can all enjoy yourself, I think until any of us know we are pg there is no point stressing ourselves out and worrying about things - especially if it means not enjoying a weekend away or concert etc! ☺️ xx

Marie90 · 25/02/2017 14:43

Afternoon ladies!

twisted I definitely think it ok to not feel guilty about wine, hot tubs and brie...I'd enjoy it whilst you can! I had a friend over last night and we shared some prosecco...I'm only 7dpo so too early to test so I'm imagining its too early to cause any harm!

mistybxx it's hard to not be gutted that some people fall pg really quickly without even trying! I'm sure once she's got over the shock she'll be happy but I agree with tuxie...get her to share some of that luck this way! 😂

(tuxie i'm hoping you get your BFP tomorrow)!!

mrsjkerry enjoy a well deserved rest...at worst it Is just a long week and a relax will do you good. At best it's going to be a BFP and your body needs to rest as all those cells are multiplying!!! Fx it's the latter!

No major symptoms here still apart from a heightened sense of smell...things like perfume, Chinese food and (don't laugh) biscuits are amongst the things I've been noticing! Still pretty convinced that my mind is fucking around with me for a laugh 🙈

Hope you all have a good weekend!

mrsjkerry · 25/02/2017 13:39

Misty enjoy your hendo! And twisted sorry about the negative - but hot tub sounds amazing!!

No real symptoms to comment on today. Other than the fact that I am still in bed and am absolutely exhausted. Am putting this down to a very long and tiring week. I don't particularly 'feel' pregnant; in my heart I think I will get BFN when I test next week.

OP posts:
tuxie11 · 25/02/2017 08:45

TTC sorry for the BFN but enjoy your self, chill out and test next week. FX for you!

Misty, oh no I hate that. I think some people just don't pay any attention what other people may think. Good luck to her and what she chooses but spread some of that good luck over here haha!
Enjoy your hen do!

touches wood no sign of period whatsoever. I'm wondering if my dates are mixed up but I've never had a cycle longer than 30 days (if whilst on the pill does that count?!)so not sure what's going on. Doubtful that if a FRER didn't pick up then what's going on. Had a few cramps in stomach but not that AF cramp Confused will test tomorrow I think 🤞🏻🤞🏻

MistyBxx · 25/02/2017 08:19

Morning girlies! Welcome to the rollercoaster to the newbies! You'll settle in just fine here :) also to the bfn's try not to worry! Twisted enjoy your weekend chick. Kitcat and Tuxie my work friend didn't get a home test bfp til 7 weeks. Mad or what! She was begging the doc for a blood test!
I had a baby bomb yesterday, gym instructor is pg! She's gutted! She's 42 and it was a total shock (she hasn't even mentioned if she's got a partner or husband) and she was moaning saying she never wanted kids only animals and she's worried about her work etc!!! 😂🙈 at 42 she's bloody lucky id say!! I'm sure she's just in shock and will be happy soon but it's a bit of a kick when I'm here like ummm I'm 10 years younger, married and trying 😳 and I would be over the moon!
Anyway, no symptoms for me except sore boobs, no colour or shape change, I've been a bit psycho to hubs but I'm usually like that before af (poor sod) I've got a hen party today so I'm looking forward to that, it's gonna be a messy one! Then af will be here by Thursday no doubt, then I will be starting again. Well not really, I won't be actively ttc, I will be dtd when I feel like it and not testing or tracking coz this month stressed me out to the max lol and also I don't want a Christmas baby 😂 that may sound picky, as if I've got a right to choose when I'm finding it hard enough to conceive anyway haha but I feel I have so little control over it, I can at least try to take back some choice haha.
If I don't comment much over the next 24 hours, rest assured I will be bladdered in a cocktail bar. I did think about not going because I'm ttc but do you know what, conception is a minefield, you can do everything perfectly and not get pg or you can live your life and still get pg like millions of people do every month and for now, I'm gonna get pissed 😂🍺
Fx for all the testers!! I will be checking in when I can!! Xx

Twistedsister7 · 24/02/2017 23:46

Hi ladies. I tested this morning & bfn as it is way too early. But if it's too early for a frer it's to early to feel guilt over a little wine, Brie & hot tub so I'm here & enjoying my weekend away. What will be, will be.

Fx for all others testing at more appropriate times than myself xx

Kitcaty · 24/02/2017 13:26

Got another BFN today. Rang the drs but as I'm only 7 days late they won't see me until another weeks time. So frustrating as I don't know if somethings wrong or if I'm pregnant and it's just not showing up in my wee yet :(. DH is convinced I'm pregnant despite 3 negative results. Keep telling him not to get his hopes up but he keeps getting mine up and I'm trying to stay grounded
