Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Here's our Grad's Thread. May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

I hope it's not AF flash. It must be hard work figuring out what's going on with your on off bleeding. Are you waiting for a gynae appointment? Completely agree with this thread being life survival whilst TTC!

Glad you're feeling a bit brighter pyjamas. I was in a major mard today but I think it was mostly work related. And now commute related 😣. I know exactly what you mean about being bored of this. I feel like I've forgotten what it's like to not be TTC. It's utterly consuming. How on earth do you not let it take over?

We should all meet in the Seychelles on Monday for cocktails 🍹 all round

Hahahaha at having sex or having a poo 😂 ELH is my fave acronym of all.

I wish I could have a bit of EHL in fact . I seem to be very constipated of late - which has been feeding my psychological pregnancy 😔

In the words of kwick you are in perfect time alexia with your GOS

Wow impressive knowledge glitter!

glitteryvibes · 22/02/2017 16:58

Hi,

This thread moves so fast

Hope it's not af flash

Sorry to see some of you feeling so low pyjamas and kath don't beat yourselves up for feeling like that, we are all aloud days like that.

alexia glad ovulation is back on track and hope you and dh have many a gos over the next few days!

binky sex hormone binding globulin- from my limited knowledge I shall see if I can explain. Globulin is a protien in the body, the body has 2 main types of protien in the blood-albumin and globulin. There are then subtypes. So sex binding globulin is the protien that sticks to testosterone and estrogen and facilitates transport of these hormones (most hormones and elements) are transported in the body stuck to a protien. Soooo from what I can work out, if it is high then it can sometimes be a marker of high testosterone in women which can be related to conditions such as pcos. It also appears to have some relation to insulin resistant diabetes although I don't think even the researchers quite understand how yet, and that can also contribute to fertility problems. Other causes of increased SHBG are hyperthyroidism and liver disease, although this test isn't used specifically to identify these issues it is more of an incidental finding in those conditions. So I would presume to flagging and writing has scan is more a note to say at the scan they will see if pcos is evident as a reason for the high level. The high level in itself shouldn't cause infertility (from what I understand) but it's more that its a marker that a condition such as pcos may be evident that's causing issues. Hope this makes sense in a round about kind of way. Hopefully they will explain it all to you anyway.

Pyjamas81 · 22/02/2017 16:55

Eeeeep looks like it's getting there Alexia! Hop on DH for a GOS immediately!!

I feel a bit better after a day of solitude (might sit in this quiet room more often!). Got a load of work done and out of sight has meant out of mind for people with stupid questions ha ha. And, DH is taking me out for dinner to try and cheer me up 🙂

Have PT session at 6.30am tomorrow - that usually perks me up a bit!!

Welcome hopeful - good to see someone who is also 35 definitely not 36 next month 🙂

I had an ELH earlier - as if I don't have enough problems today 😂

Kathrino · 22/02/2017 16:38

Good news Alexia! I'm glad you haven't missed it this month, LSFX for you!

Kaydee2017 · 22/02/2017 16:36

Fx alexia - sounds like perfect timing!!

AlexiaB · 22/02/2017 16:03

What does that mean exactly Hep? Lol

OP posts:
HepKestrel · 22/02/2017 15:57

we used to have the LL (loving length) iirc

AlexiaB · 22/02/2017 15:57

I'm surging finally! My OPK should be 100% by this evening. Hoping a good build up of sperm over 3-4 days might do the trick?? Today should be O-2 as I typically O two days after a +ve OPK.

Hope it's not AF flash. All that spotting/bleeding sounds very annoying. Maybe try adding B50 complex after O?

Hope everyone is having an ok day at work Flowers I'm finished now, time to relax!

ELH also makes me think that one of us has just got carried away with our OH in the bathroom!

AlexiaB · 22/02/2017 15:51

kwick great minds think alike Wink I was thinking earlier about adding a list!

So far we have:

LSFX - legs spread, fingers crossed
HS - have/had sex
GOS - good ol' shag
ELH - enthusiastic lavatory happenings

OP posts:
kwick · 22/02/2017 15:08

Haha kathrino!!! I love it that you are inventing more acronyms- the LSFX was born here too after all! Having our own lingo will only strengthen our cultural capital Grin but perhaps we can have a list/legend at the beginning of each thread?

Hopefulbunny · 22/02/2017 12:58

Place marking - love the new thread name!
Hopeful bunny 35
Ttc# 1
Cd 17 AF due 5th having op to remove fibroid week later if no BFP! If did have a BFP then wouldn't be able to have the op.

Sorry to hear your news Kwick Flowers
Pyjamas and Kath I'm with you both on feeling unsociable today , want to be left on my own and be quiet lol!

Hi everyone else hope you are all well.

Pyjamas81 · 22/02/2017 12:48

Lucky you kath ! The team I'm in is pretty noisy (which I'm fine any other time) - just have zero patience and don't want my dark cloud to bring people down! Found myself looking up jobs for my specialism in the charity sector - but money and mat leave is making me stay put. I know everyone says don't let TTC hold up life, so I really need to start taking that advice!

Flashinthepan · 22/02/2017 12:33

Hahaha Kathrino on this thread I'm not sure context will always help distinguish between the two! Wink

Kathrino · 22/02/2017 12:28

I was very tempted to work from one of the quiet rooms today Pyjamas, luckily the tube strike and half term have meant that our bit of the office is pretty quiet so I have a bank of desks to myself which is just about acceptable for my current mood.

Kwick, we decided a few days ago that we don't like most of the mumsnet acronyms (and baby dust / baby dance in particular) so we've decided to invent some new ones. I think a general rule now is if there's an acronym, it probably means either 1) having sex or 2) having a poo. Hopefully context should help determine which...

FX for you Flash that it's just some random spotting or implantation bleeding and nothing more than that.

Flashinthepan · 22/02/2017 12:04

So the reason I decided to go is after my ectopic I felt not like myself, I felt something wasn't right and I couldn't put my finger on it, that combined with the spotting, made me go to a GP who just dismissed it all. I wanted to take control of my health/wellbeing, and as acupuncture is a focus on the whole person, rather than a symptom, I thought it would be a good option.

The needles themselves don't hurt/you can't feel a needle prick or scratch like with an injection, but I get quite strong sensations, sortof like a deep throbbing/tugging, sometimes a tingling through my body, when they go in. Not everyone feels this, it's not pyschosomatic as I don't feel it every week or in all spots, but it only lasts seconds.

The first session was 1 hour 30 mins as they find out a lot about your medical history, personal health, lifestyle etc, as this all builds up a picture of how your body responds to different things. I found that after telling him a few things, he would then question me about whether I felt a certain way/had certain presdispositions, which turned out to be very true to me! Follow up sessions are 45 mins/1 hour.

Mine was £60 for first session and £45 for subsequent. I go once a week, but you don't have to. In terms of value, it's helped me to feel like I am influencing my health, even if that doesn't lead to a bfp, and I really appreciate the chance to talk about how my body is feeling/behaving.

My acupuncturist has been practising for 20 years, and said he has ended up treating a lot of people, men and women, for fertility, even though that's not why he went into it. He has a wall of baby pics from women who've got pregnant after acupuncture. He also said it is not a miracle cure and that someone women have got pregnant very quickly, some not for a while, and some not at all.

One thing I found interesting was his take on TTC/pregnancy. He said that women are expected to do a lot, but that TTC/being pregnant takes a lot of energy, so if you're tired you should rest, you should exercise but keep it moderate so as not to exhaust yourself, if you work long hours, think about cutting back. He wasn't saying those things would prevent getting pregnant/having a baby, but that people should respect what it takes from your body to have a baby, and that if you need to wrap yourself in cotton wool for a while, you shouldn't feel bad about that.

Wow sorry that was so long!!!

Gaelach · 22/02/2017 11:43

flash I'm a bit of an open minded skeptic I suppose. I was always quite wary of these sorts of therapies (things like that were always dismissed in my house growing up) until I had reflexology and was amazed at the information the therapist was able to get just from my feet. Does it hurt? How long is a session? Do you think it's good value? Have you been surprised by anything the acupuncturist has said? Would you recommend it for both fertility and general well-being?

Flashinthepan · 22/02/2017 11:28

Kwick we're always here. I think this is why the thread moves so fast. It's not just a TTC thread, it's a getting through life while simultaneously trying to get upduffed, or that's what it is for me anyway, the support is incredible!

I hope IB too, but I spot so much I can't afford to use it as a symptom. I realised I spotted all LP the month I had my BFP, and put it down to the fact that it was ectopic, but now I think maybe that original bleeding was just part of my cycle, so perhaps it's just how my cycle has been since I came off the pill.

Oh and GOS is good old shag!

Flashinthepan · 22/02/2017 11:22

I'm going to try and be positive with your help ladies. I have no cramps, and it's not full on witch, so fingers crossed!

kwick · 22/02/2017 11:22

And I meant to say thank you all for caring about me - it is very comforting Flowers

kwick · 22/02/2017 11:19

Hope today goes better for you pyjamas Flowers

Sorry about AF inspector Flowers

What is GOS Hmm?

binky when will you get an explanation on blood tests? Hang in there!

What a fcuker macs Angry

Alexia here's to a shagathon ce soir 🥂

WTF flash? Really hope IB

Pyjamas81 · 22/02/2017 11:15

Thanks for the support guys - hopefully this mood will lift soon! Don't envy your partner meeting kath - I think I would just walk out if I had one of those today! I've taken myself to a "quiet room" - the open plan office situation just doesn't work for me when I'm in this mood - I already feel a bit better now that am away from people asking me stupid questions. What you said about running away and drinking margaritas is exactly what I want to do! It just feels like forever since I've been able to relax and have guilt-free fun with my mates. Don't miss the hangovers, but I'm so BORED. I know that we could of course do non-pub related things, but I goddamn love the pub, everything in it and all the fun. Right, that's it, whinge over!!

I also think it could be spotting flash?

Argh that sounds so annoying alexia - I'm under no illusions that DH is well up for it when we HS, he's probably about as into it as I am (not very), but there's work to be done!

Flashinthepan · 22/02/2017 11:13

It's usually 12-13 days, but it was quite a big amount this morning, could still be spotting (as I seem to spot all the time!) I feel less bloated and PMS like today, which is normally a sign that AF is due, although maybe acupuncture just worked wonders last night for my PMS symptoms!

Gaelach re acupuncture, I've been going since November, inititally because i was having midcycle spotting for about 1-2 weeks pre AF, ever since my ectopic. Most of what he is doing is for that/fertility but will also work on other issues at the same time, such as anxiety. Is there anything specific you wanted to know?

Gaelach · 22/02/2017 11:04

flash it could just be spotting. How long is your LP usually?

Kaydee2017 · 22/02/2017 10:36

Argh alexia so frustrating!! Fx Ov holds off so you can HS (make up sex?) tonight!!

Flash Flowers could it just be more spotting?

Pyjamas sorry you're not having a good time of it, it is all consuming at times Sad hopefully you're feeling better tomorrow to keep up with your EOD plan!!

Harriet second alexia, fx you're back on it tonight & catch Ov!

PMA for you too binky hope you manage to speak to a Dr today Smile

Sorry about the BFN mac!!
