Thread 23. TTC #1 - New Year, New Opportunities. Let's keep those BFPs rolling in!

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

Happy New Year! It's 2017 and it's OUR year Star

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We've ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar, and we don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

We have a new Grad's Thread. We recently lost a whole load of ttc veterans to the good side and we're absolutely desperate to join in the fun! May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Just a quick message as I need to catch up properly but...

Macs so sorry about your brother. I used to work in itu sometimes and they are blooming brilliant. I hope he continues to improve and this horrible time is soon s distant memory Flowers

Skipper omg please look after yourself- rest up and hope you feel better quickly. Fx that hsg helps re: pain and TTC- take care in the meantime lovely Flowers

And alexia Flowers I truly hope that this is just worries in your head, and you have the most boring, uneventful pregnancy ahead! Am keeping everything crossed for you, stay strong

I'm officially cd3 now (cycle 6) and test date is Feb 10th. Am making a gp appointment to discuss long cycles when back home, as if there's something going on like thyroid issues etc want it dealt with sooner rather than later. And fertility diet restarts after Christmas and holiday break! All recommendations of supplements, foods, potions etc welcome!😂

Peachyteach · 09/01/2017 21:11

Thanks Kwick and Sk1pper - I gave a 'high fertility' smiley 3rd day running - no positive OPK as yet...

What time is best time to test for LH?

Pyjamas81 · 09/01/2017 20:39

Thanks for the painkiller tips skipper and kwick! Paracetamol it is - don't want to risk the codeine affecting everything. Sounds like it's going to be a delightful procedure 😰

Eastenders was brilliant tonight kwick!

kwick · 09/01/2017 20:32

All that Eastenders talk and I forgot to watch tonight's episode!!!!! What am I like?!

Going to bed soon - need to go in extra early to make up for today at work tomorrow....

kwick · 09/01/2017 20:29

pyjamas definitely BEFORE the procedure - this was my big mistake with my Hycosy - I did not realise it would hurt like fuck so did not take painkillers until after. Stay away from Ibruprofen and Aspirin - stick to paracetamol.

peachy I have tested at work!!! By the way having PCOS does not mean you will have issues TTC but I am a big fan of Inofolic - which i only discovered a few months ago.

Alexia keeping my fingers crossed for you.

sk1pper · 09/01/2017 20:23

Mouse - just a padded splint, the break isn't too bad and to be honest I've hardly noticed it - just worried about my cracked eggs.

Charley - HSG should be 10 days after my next period, so a few weeks to wait yet. At least it will be before I next ovulate...

Alexia - it is not going to go tits up, you've got this. I don't blame you for worrying so much about it, it probably seems too good to be true after all the shit you've been through but you do deserve happiness so yes it's possible it could all go wrong, but consider for a second that it's also possible it could all go right xx

Kwick - I was told just to take a couple of paracetamol, but what do you think I should take? I can't take co-codamol as it makes me throw up. You must let us know how your scan goes + pics! I probably wont know what I'm looking at but I'd like to see your beautiful blob/bean.

Pyjamas - Take them 1 hour before, otherwise you'll feel everything. It's to numb the pain during the procedure...sorry if that scares you.

Macs - Oh god ITU? Sending all my best wishes and love - really hope he's out soon.

Peaches - you ovulate 24-48 hours from the +ve OPK I think so can you DTD tonight, that gives the sperm enough time to get where they need to be. Wouldn't hurt doing it tomorrow and Wednesday though.

Peachy - I'm sorry think I've been getting confused between you and Peaches. I'm not an expert but I don't think you are meant to test in the morning for opks...well you can but its not very accurate I think. I used to test when I got home from work (around 5:30pm) but it cant help to take one to work if you have a inconspicuous receptacle you can use.

OrangeCloud18 · 09/01/2017 19:49

mac I'm really sorry, I hope that your brother will be alright!

Guys, I see a lot of you talking about age and fertility so here it is and I hope it will reassure some of you : my mum had my brother at 38!
Now a few years later, she thought she was having menopause so went to the doctor for some tests. Turns out it wasn't menopause and she is still super fertile! She is over 40 (but less than 50), so I really would not worry about age!
Hope it makes some of you feel better!

Peachyteach · 09/01/2017 19:35

**Alexia - sending positive vibes your way!!
**Sk1pper - sorry read about your crappy day after I sent my message...sounds like things are progressing.

Keep wishing I'd paid more attention to my cycle off cp then I'd know when I ovulated.

Ovia keeps changing its mind saying I've passed my peak day - BBT chart shows me nothing either. I'm sure I ovulated later on - I guess we'll see soon enough.

Well that's Monday out of the way at least.

Kaydee2017 · 09/01/2017 19:27

Thinking of you mac & alexia Flowers

MouseLove · 09/01/2017 19:26

No early scans booked kwick. Although I think I'd like one but on the other hand I'd like to wait till 12 weeks. I'm now chanting "have faith in my body" lol. Never stops does it. 🤓

Peachyteach · 09/01/2017 19:22

Thanks Hippychic - I may just book one - worth finding out and keeping the PMA up. My friend did a visualisation board and bought some babies booties and the BFP happened.
Sk1pper - PCOS symptoms have been since I was in my 20s at uni. I was meant to have s scan but I left the area and my doctors never picked it up as I needed to go back on the pill - I had acne (roacctuane sorted that) v irregular heavy periods, excess hair. I do have lots of symptoms for ovulating - EWCM and tender boobs etc etc but never tested for LH - I guess this month I will find out. Testing in the morning around 7.30pm and around 6.30pm when I get home - might I be missing it?
Does anyone take them to work and test there?

Peaches8Posies · 09/01/2017 19:14

Sorry for all the posts, my app is really lagging and I'm missing posts. Don't want anyone thinking I'm not reading or ignoring them Smile x

Peaches8Posies · 09/01/2017 19:13

alexia Fingers and toes crossed for you. Wish this was soo much easier on us all Sad hugs xxFlowers

Peaches8Posies · 09/01/2017 19:11

Aww mac i hope he wins his fight. Seeing lived ones in that position is truly hard. Sending positive thoughts your way Flowers

Peaches8Posies · 09/01/2017 19:09

london sounds like he has been over thinking things. Perhaps rather than off load to you whilst you have had your gran and your own worries about ttc, he has just had a blow out. I'm sure you will have a good chat and sort things out very soon Flowers.

I don't really watch eastenders much now, but tuned in to see how they would kill off roxy and ronnie. Not going to lie jack breaking down crying got me Sad. Poor kids Sad
O
In other news, got a stronger line on my Opk this afternoon so expect it to go positive tomorrow. Shall carry on with my plan to dtd tomorrow. Maybe Wednesday too? Worth going for 3 day's in a row?

macsworth · 09/01/2017 19:09

skipper I'm so sorry. That really is a shitty old day 💐. Hope your wrist isn't too painful. Hopefully not a bad break? Sounds like you're a prime candidate for post hsg bfp though 🤞🏼

alexia I'm so sorry you're having such a bad time as well. I've got everything crossed for you.

Thanks for everyone's messages. Brother is actually really unwell in ITU but is making progress and fighting like a bloody trooper. Doctors are being positive. After months of wishing I could think of anything other than TTC, it is finally a welcome distraction from the worry.

Pyjamas81 · 09/01/2017 19:04

Wow skipper, what a day you've had 😱 I really hope you're on the mend soon. I think it's really positive that dr thinks the HSG will help you and your tubes! Tube crap be gone! I think the trick is to book something on fuck it days, or it'll be too easy to sit at home and drown in my own tears.

Thanks for the heads up on painkillers kwick - I've got some codeine left over from having wisdom teeth out! Should painkillers be taken before or after the HSG?

I've still got my fx crossed for you alexia - this waiting must be absolute torture.

Londonjam · 09/01/2017 19:02

Welcome dolwar

Glad you got seen skipper get prepared with paracetamol and hot water bottle for your hsg. Avoid ibuprofen as not good for TTC I think!

Everything crossed for you alexia you are so strong, really hope it's just a slightly rocky start to a healthy pregnancy

Peaches8Posies · 09/01/2017 19:00

kwick again, jealous of your fabulous allotment. And we'll done on transforming the hall way. Hope it is appreciated and taken care off.

Welcome all newbies Grin sam wow! I hope your answers and bfp are just around the corner for you. That's is some amount of cycles to go through. Sounds like yourself and gee may have lots in common. Lots of different experiences here as we have (for the large part) all been here now for a while.

Thank you ladies for your positivity. I found a lovely article (I'll try get it again) by Prof Robert Winston about how age/fertility statistics are pretty much now out of date. That, as we now live longer and healthier lives we need to appreciate the positive impact that has in increasing the fertile years of women. From him, I'll take it Grin.

Peaches8Posies · 09/01/2017 18:50

sk1p!! That's some say. Glad you are home and hope you are being well looked after. I was thinking when readding through that your hsg is coming up at the very best time for you. If they are predicting it to be sore are they going to give you something to help ease the pain? I know you will be nervous but I agree it's the best next step for you to work out what's gowing on. Sending you hugs and Flowers.

pyjamas it only takes one turbo twat to spoil your day, hopefully less twatness from them tomorrow.

flash i would get your gp to refer you for a scan to get checked out. It may be something or nothing. I know friends/work colleagues who have had bleeding and irritation from sex. Each case has been from something different. But it's more than likely that if you keep over thinking things then it can be stressful and counter productive to the positive things you are doing Flowers

kwick · 09/01/2017 18:46

sk1pper what a trooper you are! Lots of Cake for you!
When is your HSG and what painkillers are to take? I would advise those of the horse variety, if my Hycosy pain was anything to go by.
Hope you are resting up!
What is you favourite veg - let me know and I make sure we plant it (please consider that it takes 3 years for asparagus to yield!!!)

Welcome dolwar!!!

mouse my scan is next Monday!!! I think it is a bit early - at 6 weeks but going with clinic flow... Do you have a scan booked?

Fanks charley Grin

AlexiaB · 09/01/2017 18:43

skipper OMG I'm so sorry you had to go through all that lovely. It sounds truly horrendous. Please never suffer in silence again! I'm glad nothing major is wrong but gutted you broke you wrist Shock Hope you heal up asap FlowersCake Let your OH spoil you. Take care ❤️

Welcome to all the newbies!

Really sorry I'm so far behind on the thread, I'm wishing you all the very best Flowers I've been an emotional wreck today because I can't shake the feeling that it's all going to go tits up again. I'm still not bleeding although my temp dropped to the 60s today. Frers have been dispatched. This is torture.

Charley2016 · 09/01/2017 18:31

Wow skipper that sounds a lot to take in! Although hopefully very positive that they have found some ways to help. Will you have long to wait for the HSG do you know?

Kwick and Mouse I remember you both from previous months! Huge congrats on your BFPs! Hope you are both keeping well? Smile

Dolwar · 09/01/2017 18:20

Can I join?
32 ttc#1
Finished cocp 19th December and had withdrawal bleed. No idea how long my cycle is!!

MouseLove · 09/01/2017 18:19

Sk1pper ouch please take it easy with your wrist and overies. Are you in a cast? (For the wrist not the naughty ovaries) one day you'll laugh about this I'm sure. But for now. Here's some kwick cake. 🍰

Kwick, when is your scan hun? And how many weeks will you be. Ps. I look pretty fat so pictures are funny right now. 😕
