Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

Happy New Year! It's 2017 and it's OUR year Star

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We've ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar, and we don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

We have a new Grad's Thread. We recently lost a whole load of ttc veterans to the good side and we're absolutely desperate to join in the fun! May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Jesus!!! I nearly got caught in a bus door just now Sad

jam and kathrino I am not sure if I advised on the acid thing but I used to take Naproxen - I have very bad period pain and this is the only thing that has ever made a difference. I have been taking for last 25 years or so.... when I started TTC I finally read leaflet - can impact fertility!!! Gave them up... now I take liquid paracetamol and use a hot water bottle and suffer...

jam I hear you honey. I really really hope you get upduffed soon - it really is your time now!!
Note to self: stick to reading inocuous Metro!

Welcome lexi!!!
Have you tried Inofolic for the PCOS?

hep namaste!!! 🙏🏼 LSFX!!!

flash Flowers

Have had many womble pains this afternoon - hope this is a good sign Confused boobage pain is insane!!!!

WingingIt83 · 10/01/2017 17:44

I had no idea about the heart rate thing, but interestingly have just started tracking mine in the last week on my SHealth app as I like recording stuff like this!
Started as my heart was feeling like it was really racing after AF had been and gone so I was a bit confused when that's normally a TWW symptom to want to check. It got up to 86 one day but now back at 60ish.

HepKestrel · 10/01/2017 16:55

Flowers flash

I am 9dpo . your resting heart rate increases by about 10bpm in your first trimester. I think it raises 1-2 weeks after ovulation.

so since you lovely ladies have banned me from boob poking, I am now staring at my plots Wink

Flashinthepan · 10/01/2017 15:23

Jam Flowers Brew things like that are really a kick in the [insert appropriate reproductive organ here]. Things just get to you sometimes don't they? I'm irrationally agnry at the moment whenever my coworker talks about how amazing his 2 1/2 year old is. I feel like saying "That's lovely, and I'm pleased for you. But please stop rubbing your child in my face!" (Not literally of course).

In other happy news, AF arrived early and I feel like my uterus is being pulled out bit by bit.

Flashinthepan · 10/01/2017 15:19

Hep just stay calm. I have no idea about heartrate/pregnancy but very nice looking charts!

How many DPO are you?

Kathrino · 10/01/2017 12:08

Something just pinged up on my twitter for a discussion on male infertility on BBC Radio 5 Live at 1pm today. Not sure how much it's medical vs the emotional impact but thought it may be of interest to some.

Flowers for you Jam. Every time I read the definition of infertility being TTC for a year without success it really hits home for me that this is the reality now Sad

HepKestrel · 10/01/2017 11:42

As i am a geek, and like charts, I also attach the plot for my bfp and miscarriage and EPRC.

(this is also for my own record keeping).

There's a fertility phone in on This Morning now - if anyone able to catch it. They are talking about trying after a mc at the moment.

Londonjam · 10/01/2017 11:40

I think it just caught me at a low point. I get that pregnancy and birth and having a small baby are not always easy. I'm just so envious of people having these things ☹️

Fx testers 🤞🏼

Glad it's good news about your brother macs

Kathrino · 10/01/2017 11:34

I've now read the article. The comment that made me laugh most was about how fond the author is of an adjective (or three). I am filing it in the category of self-indulgent twoddle.

HepKestrel · 10/01/2017 11:32

so my tww-zen like state might be slipping....

I don't trust myself symptom spotting, so am staring at my resting heartrate which has increased again .....

however, the rise also corresponds to me starting back at work so doesn't help me too much ! it also isn't as dramatic as when i had my bfp. ah well....

Pyjamas81 · 10/01/2017 11:23

I thought It Starts with the Egg was a great read - am now taking ubiquinol as a result.

I haven't read that article either but have read many like it and I love the unmumsy mum blog. One of the big reasons I've put off ttc is fear of losing my old life and it's taken me this long to realise that it's ok if I miss my old life future, but I'll have many things making me happy in my new life. It is hard though striving so much for a bfp and reading about those kinds of experiences.

11dpo here and still nothing! Not one sore boob or tingle in sight.

Kathrino · 10/01/2017 11:01

Thanks for the info re ibuprofen Jam, I'll do some research. I've never really found that paracetamol did very much for me so I'll have a look at heat patches etc too.

I haven't read the guardian article yet but one of my good friends has been quite vocal about how hard she found pregnancy and birth and how isolating and difficult she found having a small baby. I try my best to be sympathetic to her because as much as I would give anything to be in her position, whatever I'm going through doesn't diminish her feelings about her own situation but it's really shitty and really hard a lot of the time.

lexilou, as hep says, it sounds like you might have just caught it this month. Good luck!

macsworth · 10/01/2017 10:55

lexilou as hep said ovulation happens after +be opks so you in with the chance. There have been quite a few "less is more" bfps on here recently.

macsworth · 10/01/2017 10:53

binky You're right, the ITU staff are AMAZING. That place really is the NHS at its very best. He's had brilliant care 24 hours, over the weekend (will resist the urge to start a Jeremy Hunt rant)

london I read that article as well. I think reading any stories of pregnancy and birth are really hard when you would give anything to experience it yourself. And I know what you mean about pregnancy feeling like a mythical state, TTC is so consuming that it's hard to look beyond it.

Still positive news about brother coming through. It's DH's birthday today so as everything is moving in the right direction we're going to go out for the lunch I had planned.
Just entering the TWW but I'm going to have a glass of wine, I bloody need it!

HepKestrel · 10/01/2017 10:21

lexilou you can ovulate upto 48 hrs after the positive opk, so I don't think you have missed it, you should have had peak fertility for sunday, monday, tuesday.

so dtd again tonight, and you should have two rolls of the dice this month. LSFX for you.

harrietm87 · 10/01/2017 10:21

london I read that article too. I actually thought it was quite good - honest about how hard pregnancy and birth can be. I think she was trying to express how her life was totally changed by having a baby - I guess she could have phrased it by saying she was reborn in her new life rather than that her old one died though! But she clearly longed for her baby as we all do. Strangely I was quite encouraged - made me think I can do this!

lexilou86 · 10/01/2017 09:46

Hi all,

I wonder if you can help.. this is round 3 of TTC baby number 1
I was recently told I may have polysistic ovaries, got a blood test next week to check I ovulated.
We were away this weekend with family so unable to DTD and it should've been my fertile week. I did an OPK on Friday a.m and it was negative, didn't test again and Sunday night it was very positive- couldn't DTD on Sunday either :( tested Monday a.m still very positive, then after work Monday evening the line was very faint and we finally DTD late last night, tested again this am and cant see the line, my question is have I missed this opportunity? Would I have ovulated throughout the day? so by the time I got home its too late? I know the chances with BD only once but if I've missed it then I can get on with the month.
TIA

Londonjam · 10/01/2017 09:41

Kath I'm pretty sure it's not great for it. I used to take mefenemic acid for period pain - which is another nsaid - but the wise kwick pointed out we shouldn't be taking those. I'm not sure why. Heat really does help an awful lot, have you tried heat patches?

I stumbled across an article on the guardian this morning written by some cow who said "a part of her died" when her baby was born. Ffs. Completely spiralled me into despair and tears at frustration of my infertility. I realised I've disconnected trying from actually getting pregnant. It's just something we do now, like bashing our heads against a brick wall. Pregnancy feels like a mythical, unachievable goal. I might as well be trying to grow wings and fly over the house.

Right I'm going to make a cup of tea and give myself a slap! As you were.

Kathrino · 10/01/2017 09:30

macs I'm sure your brother is in the best possible place for him. I hope there's good news soon Flowers

Thanks for the link sk1pper and the book rec kwick. I go back and forth on the issue of fertility 'diets' not least because it seems so rubbish that some people just get pregnant at the drop of a hat whilst doing all the wrong things and some of us have to work so fucking hard to even get a sniff of a BFP.

Hope you're feeling better this morning sk1pper and are not even thinking about going back to work anytime soon!

Jam, I knew to avoid ibuprofen in the TWWo but it's the only thing that touches my period pain. Should I not be taking it at all then?? Crap!

Hope you're doing okay today Alexia.

Welcome newbies!
