Thread 23. TTC #1 - New Year, New Opportunities. Let's keep those BFPs rolling in!

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

Happy New Year! It's 2017 and it's OUR year Star

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We've ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar, and we don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

We have a new Grad's Thread. We recently lost a whole load of ttc veterans to the good side and we're absolutely desperate to join in the fun! May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

miranda I've wondered that too. I went for quite a long run the day after my last bfp and then started bleeding that evening (my chemical pregnancy). All the stuff I've read online says that it wouldn't have been affected by exercise but I still worry! Interested to hear what others think.

alexia any news??

Miranda234 · 11/01/2017 10:47

Fx for you colour

Flowers Flash glad you're feeling positive though

How annoying winging but glad you have found a better doctor now

Do any of you ladies have any advice on exercise in the TWW? I run twice a week and swim once a week, I'm by no means fast when I run but I do push myself, is this something I should cutting back on in the TWW or does it not matter? My mum is going in for a hip replacement today, I'm trying to stay calm about it but am getting increasingly anxious as the days going on!

Fx to anyone testing soon

Flashinthepan · 11/01/2017 09:29

Good luck colour. Signs sounding good though!

Flashinthepan · 11/01/2017 09:28

Thanks everyone. I'm feeling good mentally, I actually feel like I've taken a step forward.

Me too Hep re MIL, she has foot in mouth syndrome sometimes but she means well and loves me like a daughter.

I've going to start using OPKs this month, does anyone have a recommendation? I've looked on Amazon but no ideas which to go for.

HepKestrel · 11/01/2017 09:20

LSFX for you colour

colourmylife · 11/01/2017 09:04

wing that's so frustrating. Good that you have found a doctor you feel more confident about.

On top of my pink/light brown watery spotting on Sunday night at 8dpo I've had constant dull cramping ever since and felt a bit weak. Thinking about testing today at 11dpo. I'm going to come crashing down if it's a bfn as I do feel different. I suppose it's still early though!

Good luck to everyone else testing soon.

WingingIt83 · 11/01/2017 08:49

Also, for anyone who did the Create sperm analysis and NHS one, are they the same or does the Create one test for more? As she said if Create looked at antibodies etc it might be worth sticking with it rather than cancelling and replacing with the NHS analysis.

HepKestrel · 11/01/2017 08:46

peachy i have a lovely MOL (mother-out-of-law).

on MN you just here rants about the bad ones.

WingingIt83 · 11/01/2017 08:31

Sorry flash but fingers crossed your next cycle is more normal.

Hugs to jam it's tough enough dealing with this mentally without unsupportive comments and behaviour from family members.

So I've just come from doctor and the stupid one who ordered my bloods before Christmas didn't actually request the day 21 bit so they didn't do profile on progesterone etc. So got to have it done again next week.
Got a much better feel from today's doctor so will try and stick with her. She definitely felt more proactive.

kwick · 11/01/2017 08:02

Angryto all the insensitive remarks from family members!!!

miw you poor thing - please take care and get lots of rest Flowers

May I join the boozy ranting (I will be on Becks Blue)?

sk1pper how are you doing? Hope you are resting up.

kathrino I read a thread yesterday where a lady is preggers and does not know who father is...I sometimes think I have problemsbut TBH compared to some of the things I read on MN my life is idyllic!!!

MissyJones83 · 11/01/2017 06:03

Sorry about the AF flash Flowers

Pyjamas81 · 10/01/2017 23:09

I would be well up for a boozy rant! My mood has been absolutely terrible today - short tempered, generally feeling like everything is shit, totally relate to feeling like having children is something that happens to 'other people', nearly cried because I made a mess in the kitchen chopping up broccoli. Yep, reckon AF will be right on time 😒

Also relate to the insensitive DMs/MiLs - if my mum says "it's because you were on the pill for so long, I was never on that stuff and I found it easy", I'm going to drop kick someone 😡 Yes, because you would have been really pleased with an unplanned pregnancy when I was still a teenager 😤 Sorry, bit of a ranty self-pitying post there!

Sorry about AF flash 💐 have you got anything planned to distract yourself?

And good luck peachy!

Kathrino · 10/01/2017 22:34

I am all for for boozy ranting. I sometimes venture into other parts of Mumsnet and it seems to be filled with people who had semi-unprotected sex for 2 seconds a week before they ovulated and now find themselves pregnant. Just how?! I also read a blog post today about someone's difficult 'journey' to conceiving their first child which took all of three months...

Sorry about your mum's comment Jam, it's so hard to know how to react to that kind of comment.

Flash, glad you're feeling relaxed and full of PMA. Onwards and upwards!

Miw, glad you've got some antibiotics now. I hope they kick on quickly and you start feeling much better soon Flowers

Peachyteach · 10/01/2017 22:33

Flashinthepan
That's so insensitive...but then I find MILs are - I hope I'm not if ever get to be one!!

Most fertile phase now over - still no sign of ovulating!
Feel like I should do it every hour just to check.
Doing the BD every other day anyway...fingers crossed - I should now have started my 2ww...,who knows!

miwelaisjacydo · 10/01/2017 22:23

Sorry been AWAL for a while. Finally got to Drs and have a bad kidney infection. Have started on conception safe antibiotics am shattered and not feeling much better!

Anyway haven't caught up on thread yet. Just wanted to say hello.

Flashinthepan · 10/01/2017 22:21

Sorry about the guilt knitting jam. My MIL got a dog a month after my ectopic and whenever me and DH are with her, she keeps saying that now she has the dog it's feels like the family is complete Hmm. It's hard when the people you love say insensitive things as it makes you feel guilty for wanting to kick them in the shins.

Flashinthepan · 10/01/2017 22:18

Thanks for all the flowers ladies. I think a bit of Heps zen has rubbed off as I just feel glad to get last month's horrid cycle out the way and move on to a new and better one.

Hep I'm going to make encouraging noises at you re the heart rate, if only because you have found a new and scientific way to symptom spot and I applaud that kind of ingenuity.

I had acupuncture today and it was so relaxing. It always makes me really tired afterwards so I'm angling for a good night's sleep.

Londonjam · 10/01/2017 22:00

Sorry af got you flash 💐💐 hope you're alright

You're right kwick I need something more innocuous to read!

God ej yes the amount of times I read or hear someone say they had children and moved here or did this or that and I think - hold up you did what? You managed to have children? How???? I have to stop myself from asking strangers with babies how long it took them to conceive. It feels utterly unattainable. Yes please to drunken bar rants about this, I've hit a ranty point I think.

My mum today going through my gran's things and found all this wool and actually said to me and my sister Maybe I'll hang onto this in case I ever get any grandchildren I might knit something! In this kind of nudge nudge wink wink way and she and my sister know I've been trying to get pregnant for over a year!! What the hell mum!! Bit my lip as she's going through all this shit.

Fx for all testers 🤞🏼🤞🏼

kwick · 10/01/2017 20:57

lexi apologies: my phone is out of storage so no photo but take a look at www.inofolic.org.uk
"Significant benefits were enjoyed by women using two sachets per day during extensive, randomised, published studies."
Inofolic contains myo-inositol (see It starts with the egg) and folic acid - they both help normalise cellular metabolism.

kwick · 10/01/2017 20:37

Angry downloaded wrong This Morning episode... today's one not yet available....

lexilou86 · 10/01/2017 20:33

thanks #hep#
I know how you feel #Jam# one of my best friend announced shes pregnant today really happy for her but cant help the twang of jealousy..

i havent tried infolic #kwick# what is that?

Kathrino · 10/01/2017 20:14

Thanks kwick, useful to know. I'll stick to paracetamol and hot baths from now I think!

Flowers for you Flash, hope you're doing okay.

I always forget how boring AF is when you're TTC...

EJ2009 · 10/01/2017 20:11

jam you & i are on the same page. You describe exactly how i feel about ttc. I really feel it will never be me. I cannot image my family chasing my toddler around or me out walking with my baby. To me its something otjer people do. I was watching house move type programme earlier and the presenter said "x &x got married, had 3 children and bought a house in cornwall" and i was generally astounded that having children sounded so normal and every day when it seems so difficult to make one.

Everytime i think of how much i want this, pain just wells up in me & feel almost like im being taken over by it. Ive spent 2 days with my pregnant friend and its hurt so bad. I'm also not going to my colleagues baby shower as i literally just cant for my own sanity. Selfish yes. Necessary yes.

Maybe we should go to a bar & get s*t faced drunk to forget it and wail together about how freaking hard it is. Or maybe we will just put on our "im a normal, sane woman" look and go to work everyday smiling when people say "anyhing to tell us?" if i eat more than normal or say im tired. Yes you are nosy and insensitive & the f**ing stalk doesnt drop babies off on demand so dont ask when im having one.

kwick · 10/01/2017 20:06

FFS Davina is cohosting This Morning! Cannot stand her!!!! Only watching to see fertility bit.

OrangeCloud18 · 10/01/2017 18:23

Flowers Flash

How do you track your heart rate ?
