Getting ready for baby challenge

Hi all, we are planning on TTC in the new year. Before that I want to get a bit healthier lose three stone and generally be in the best shape possible to get pregnant and run around after a baby. Is anyone else in the same boat? Would you be up for a little thread to keep us all on track? Planning on doing a dry January as a kick start and then will be dragging my arse to the gym after Christmas as well. Very open to suggestion and ideas to shift the bulge. Would be good to have a few buddies though. Anyone fancy joining in?

(although can't wait to be an Aunt again, most wonderful thing!)

HeyJupiter · 14/01/2017 13:03

Dancing that's such a natural reaction and nothing to feel bad about. A close colleague is pregnant and had her 20 week scan yesterday. Genuinely am really happy for her but part of me felt so emotional and scared after we discussed it. Scared I guess that it won't work for my and DH for some reason. My best friend and sister are also pregnant at the moment which is exciting but does mean I'm surrounded by it constantly. Have to keep reminding myself that their obvious fertility has no bearing on mine.

Oysterbabe · 14/01/2017 12:49

It's natural to feel that way Unicorn. I'm in a facebook group of about 45 people whose babies were born around the same time as DD. 3 of them are pregnant again and I'm EnvyEnvyEnvy

DancingUnicorn · 14/01/2017 12:43

Busy i would definitely consider adoption if I had difficulty conceiving naturally. I know people who've gone through the process and although it seems like a difficult path, they are wonderfully happy! I don't know very much about the process.

I'm feeling rubbish today. Just found out a friend of mine is pregnant. Obviously happy for her, but couldn't believe how strongly I felt about it. It's only my first month of trying and not even ovulated yet, so it's completely ridiculous to be jealous!!! And also feel like such a cow for thinking about myself about her wonderful news! Urgh! :(

Oysterbabe · 14/01/2017 12:12

I have 19 pills left, not that I'm counting.

That's a tough one Busy. I think adoption is a difficult path and a lot of the children needing homes are quite damaged. It would be a wonderful thing to do though.

Mummyme87 · 14/01/2017 12:09

Busyrascal - adoption is an amazing thing to do if you were able to, it's not for everyone though. Have you always wanted to adopt? You would be advised to have an elective CS after 2 previous, although pregnancies after multiple CS become more risky for various reasons. I guess it depends on how much you want another child of your own.. also if you wanted to adopt how old would you be happy with.. newborn? School age? Older? Newborns are very hard to get as there are very few newborns who are straight for adoption.

HeyJupiter · 14/01/2017 12:08

buzz that's great (but horrible for you!) Have a duvet day I reckon Flowers

mummyme that's fab! How are the tonsils? Hope you're feeling better.

I've woken up with a stuffy nose so guess all the chills I've been feeling are more likely viral. Urgh to maybe having a cold!

busy I haven't really thought about adoption (but then again I don't have any children at all yet!) but my colleague at work recently adopted a 6 month old and watching him go through that process has been brilliant. She has totally completely their family.

busyrascal · 14/01/2017 12:02

Hi everyone! I'm finding it a bit hard to keep up with you lot! You all seem so pro-active compared to me Grin

I have two packs of my pill left and then I'm coming off. I think. Although I have been having weird thoughts the last couple of days that maybe we should try and adopt instead Confused
We already have 2dc, I've always liked the idea of adoption and am slightly conflicted about the idea of pregnancy and childbirth again (following two emergency sections I would elect for a cs this time).
I don't know if it would quench the desire in me to have a biological other though. Haven't spoken to my dh about it yet. Anyone else having/had similar thoughts?

Mummyme87 · 14/01/2017 11:53

My OPK just now. CD13. It's more or less as dark as the control line. Will do another tonight and expect it to be positive. Wahoo

Very strong yoga session this morning and much less bloating. No sign of anything going on down there. 20 days off cerazette now. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend! Weighing in tomorrow x

buzzmoon · 14/01/2017 11:48

We have AF!! Very pleased! Although actually not pleased and don't know why I was worried about having to wait so long because AF is a bitch! Going to stock up on chocolate and stay under a blanket today I think!

MrsC2017 · 14/01/2017 10:33

Oh thanks wiggly good to know, I think I'll start using them tomorrow for a week and hopefully will get an idea from that! In the meantime I'll be covering all bases Wink

Wiggleyfingers · 14/01/2017 10:28

Hey MrsC. I've used OPK's throughout my fertile cycle and just got a positive on the day before last fertile day according to Ovia. You can see the progression and today is CD16, so don't panic if it is later than you expected! I didn't even get a second line until CD14.

MrsC2017 · 13/01/2017 21:44

oyster and jupiter thank u! Excited now.... How sad!
unicorn yay glad I have a cycle buddy, Sunday night could be lucky for you!
Sounds like I'm in for a busy week, DH will be delighted! Wink

DancingUnicorn · 13/01/2017 21:12

Mrsc we are proper cycle buddies! But I'm away in the week... :( so hoping Sunday night will sneak into the window. But OH has stinking cold. Fx he's feeling better by then! I think this month could be a long long long one!

Hope everyone had nice weekend plans. :)

HeyJupiter · 13/01/2017 20:49

MrsC I have a 26 day cycle too and tend to ovulate on day 12/13 with a 14 day luteal phase to follow. I usually assume I ovulate the day after I get a positive OPK but think can happen anywhere between 12-48 hours with most averaging at 24. So yes, if app is right I'd expect a positive on Tuesday and if you are right then a positive on Monday. I would DTD from Saturday just to be sure - it's such a pressure isn't it!!

Oysterbabe · 13/01/2017 20:14

Yes I think the opk is positive 24-48 hours before ovulation.

MrsC2017 · 13/01/2017 20:10

Can I just check with u guys coz I'm new to all this, so my app says I will ovulate Wednesday, in my own head I think Tuesday, I always think I'm a day before app says but I could be wrong, I have a 26 day cycle so Wednesday(app ovulation day) will be CD12, I'm guessing I should be getting positive OPKs Monday or Tues if app is right and Sunday Monday if I am right and ovulate Tuesday.... Is that right? OPKs confuse me a bit! Of course fertile weeks starts on a Monday.... Ill be wrecked! Confused

Oysterbabe · 13/01/2017 20:04

Hiya!
I've only skimmed over the posts as you're all too chatty :)
Exciting Holly! I won't test until AF is late either, I can't be doing with driving myself nuts testing too early.
Re hair colouring, my hair changed colour during pregnancy. I'm blonde and I have a band of brown hair halfway down my head which was the hair that grew during pregnancy. It's very odd.

Heyitsholly · 13/01/2017 19:47

My dh is very relaxed about everything initially he was meant to come today and tomorrow but hes come all the way from nigeria and didnt book any hotels so here he is. Fx he actually leaves on monday. Tho tbf hes alright.
Im on af tenterhooks.
Will test on sunday if no af appears tomorrow. I don't want to test and be upset by a BFN so im ignoring it and holding on to hope. Im weird i know.

Whats an acceptable bed time after being up since 3 and having a shitty day at work? Avoiding the wine my dh bought..........

Glad your evenings are improving.

Happy weekend!

confusedat23 · 13/01/2017 19:43

I'm glad i'm not the only crazy person Mrs! Honestly i don't know what came over me... i'm a very reserved person normally abd especially at work!

confusedat23 · 13/01/2017 19:42

Awhh im glad DH is taking care of you Grumpy

Yeah it does Jupiter its crazy! Even when you know you don't have much of a chance theres still that little bit of hope!..

TheGrumpySquirrel · 13/01/2017 19:24

Thanks guys! DH is counselling me about work issues at dinner. He's so lovely!

Red that's so exciting!! Fingers crossed for you!

MrsC2017 · 13/01/2017 19:24

redhaha red well maybe you did just that!
grumpyoh u poor thing, but don't worry about it at least it's Friday and Monday is a new week!
confused today I was going insane at work due to an insane coworker who actually I'm convinced is not from this planet the way they carry on! I'm having a g&t to recover..... I feel it's allowed! Also on the acne thing, mine is so bad every month since I've been off contraception, it's the biggest downside.... Well along with the week of rage and emotion I get and the crippling cramps!
I actually didn't love the wedding planning, I absolutely loved the day and would do it all over again.... Cant believe I'm almost a year married in a couple of months!
holly so exciting bar the unwanted guest! Fx for u!

Redpony1 · 13/01/2017 18:51
