Hi all, we are planning on TTC in the new year. Before that I want to get a bit healthier lose three stone and generally be in the best shape possible to get pregnant and run around after a baby. Is anyone else in the same boat? Would you be up for a little thread to keep us all on track? Planning on doing a dry January as a kick start and then will be dragging my arse to the gym after Christmas as well. Very open to suggestion and ideas to shift the bulge. Would be good to have a few buddies though. Anyone fancy joining in?

Happy new year everyone! Here's to our bfp's in 2017 sometime!!

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 31/12/2016 21:19

Happy new year ladies!! dry January officially starts tomorrow! We're going to do a big list of meals and food plan for a few weeks to help stick to healthy eating. I've bought that Lean In 15 book so might give that a try too. Here's to this time next year when hopefully we'll have bumps (and maybe even a few babies) StarStarGrinGrin

Ooh pounds exciting. I'm about to take my first seven seas, trying for a baby vits with my lunch, whilst slinging my pill into the bin with my other hand!!

TheGrumpySquirrel · 31/12/2016 12:40

Ssh I'm not planning on using it before march when we are actively TTC as the refills are expensive but will certainly give updates! They are 30% off on amazon at the moment.

Sshsecretenclosed · 31/12/2016 12:31

Wow Ive seen those but saw they were also quite expensive. Will be interested to find out how you find it and if it's really useful.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 31/12/2016 12:05

Sorry, the clearblue fertility monitor. Not used it yet.

You're probably right - am v unlikely to be pregnant already!

Sshsecretenclosed · 31/12/2016 11:53

Oh my seven I'm hoping I'm not going to be screwing about it too much. I'm such a control freak, this does all worry me a lot!! Grumpy I'm not sure what CBFM means?!?! Novice still!

Seven0fNine · 31/12/2016 11:50

What a lovely thread for the New Year! I've just read the whole thing and find alot of what you ladies saying is relevant to me.

I've been off the pill since July and had a 92 and 41 day cycle. Currently on cd35 but not even bothering to test anymore! Lol! I hope that doing more exercise, losing a stone (ideally) and generally eating a more nutritious diet will help my cycles get back to normal!

I found I had loads of symptoms coming off the pill for the first month and was convinced I was preggers but you're body really does screw with you when you first come off so pay no attention! Ha!

TheGrumpySquirrel · 31/12/2016 11:32

Yeah but at home with the CBFM and I'm away for Xmas/NY

Sshsecretenclosed · 31/12/2016 11:29

Have you got an Ovulation sticks Grumpy

TheGrumpySquirrel · 31/12/2016 11:25

If we DTD on 26th and I stopped taking pill that day (last pill) what do you reckon are the chances of ovulation in the 5 days after stopping cerazette? Pretty small right? Sore boobs & bit nauseous but could just be normal hormones returning.

Sshsecretenclosed · 31/12/2016 11:15

Right, I think me and DH feel the new year is quite a significant moment to mark and tonight will see me abandoning the pill and diving into a world of OPKs, POAS and feeling super broody (and emotional too!) This train is crazy!!

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 31/12/2016 10:40

Thought this was appropriate!

Heeey :)

Wow such an active thread! Just an update, am now 11 days late, BFNs all round though :/ Am starting to think I must have ov'd very late for some reason? But then that makes me wonder if I am still pregnant but am only 8 -10 dpo or something... this is madness!

Good luck with the weigh ins, I'm doing something similar eith my my mum and am planning to shift the ridiculous 3 stone I've put on Shock

Would love to know how C25K goes, I was thinking of doing something like that, and some pilates/yoga Halo

TheLovelyOtherDinosaur · 30/12/2016 21:06

I'm planning on doing the 5:2 diet as we tend to eat our quite a bit- this helps to keep things under control. Plus it helps with reducing portion sizes generally as you soon get used to eating less. I'm not bad with exercising once I put my mind to it and can already run 5k....its just doing it and my motivation for exercise has dropped dramatically over the winter months!
Anyway new year new start!!

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 30/12/2016 16:29

Excellent - Monday 2nd sounds like a plan then. Right heading off to airport for return journey. See you on the other side girls!

Ooh Lucy I'm up for trying a 30 day shred in the New Year as I tried before xmas and got stuck at day 14 due to insane busyness. I have also done c25k and want to get back to doing my local parkruns every week too.

As for my diet...I might start on mfp again to try and keep on track a bit. We have a lodger moving in on Monday who I am also cooking for so I'm hoping that will help me to cook healthier meals.

Wiggleyfingers · 30/12/2016 13:20

I love the idea of a weekly update. I'm fairly happy with my weight, it's been quite stable for the last 3 years but my biggest thing to conquer is nutrition. I am the worst for skipping meals and snacking on junk food. My mission is to eat breakfast and plan healthy balanced lunches for work so I'm not panic buying in Tescos on the day. Evening meals are prepped by DP so not so much of an issue (Until he's out for a night, then it's straight to the ready meals!)

LucyLugosi · 30/12/2016 12:12

confused - couch to 5k is a newbie running program where you walk some/run some, slowly building up the running bits and decreasing the walking bits!

It is really good. The app I used for it is called get running.

Fredthefrog · 30/12/2016 11:55

I will be starting in January too. Weigh in to keep us all on track sounds like a good idea Theres.
I'm wondering about temping now you guys have said it I easy. Ive never paid to much attention to my cycle so I'm using ovia to keep track now and am on cd5.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 30/12/2016 11:52

Confused nothing more this morning so maybe still suppressed who knows.
Yes I wouldn't mind so much Jan to march with a teeny newborn as I'd cosy up knowing spring was coming and my mum would probably come and help as well. Worst would be Sep to march off as that's all winter!

TheGrumpySquirrel · 30/12/2016 11:49

Great idea tea let's start Monday 2 January? Confused I'm currently 59-60kg and want to maintain at 57kg. But I do hate the way scales fluctuate so much depending on bloating / time of the month etc. For example this morning I am 1kg heavier than yesterday for no reason.. anyway it's the trend that's important!

confusedat23 · 30/12/2016 11:46

Anna does DP not get woken up with the beeping? i get up for work at 5.30 anyway so I don't think i would manage getting up any earlier!

I'm glad you found some Wiggley it is very exciting! Do you know how long your LP is then?

Hi Zoe nice to meet you!

Thats great Grumpy that you have something happening already! I have heard on MN some people have problemd getting a bleed after the minipill. Would you have anyone to help you if you did have Mat Leave over Winter? Also I hate the Jan-Mar part of winter would you be better if it was the first part you had off too?

Woo HB are you going to start OPK? I am away for the weekend at a relatives and I need to pack them but how am I meant to sneak off mid afternoon with a peepot and have 10 mind to read it? Loool

Theres I think the weigh in thing is a good idea! It will keep me motivated as my willpower if awlful!

Ooooh Lucy what is couch to 5K?

Xxx

LucyLugosi · 30/12/2016 11:04

Hey!

I could do with losing a stone - cutting out the wine and crisps will help!
I'm going to do couch to 5k (had some success with this a few years ago before my short and ill fated marriage) and also my 30 day shred dvd which is pretty great - I highly recommend!

I want to be fit for pregnancy and for getting off the baby weight when the time comes!

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 30/12/2016 10:51

Ha Hb My starvation diet starts at new year too! I think we do a little progress check weigh in each Monday? How does that sound? I'm going to remember to take measurements too as sometimes they move more than the scales! welcome Zoe to the mad house!
