Hi all, we are planning on TTC in the new year. Before that I want to get a bit healthier lose three stone and generally be in the best shape possible to get pregnant and run around after a baby. Is anyone else in the same boat? Would you be up for a little thread to keep us all on track? Planning on doing a dry January as a kick start and then will be dragging my arse to the gym after Christmas as well. Very open to suggestion and ideas to shift the bulge. Would be good to have a few buddies though. Anyone fancy joining in?

Oh i'm trying Red bit did the sexy undies bit last night for DH birthday! I will have to give it my all this evening after we have gone out for dinner lol or maybe i'll make breakfast in bed tomorrow morning...

I know HB i was really shocked because the other lines have been so crap and I was convinced I ov'd 2 days ago! What cycle day are you? I'd love to have a cycle twin!!

Never a stupid question Grumpy a positive OPK means your body should release an egg in the next 36 hours. Although it doesn't guarentee 100% you are ovulating just means if there is going to be an egg it is imminent!

TheGrumpySquirrel · 06/01/2017 10:58

Sorry if this is a dumb question but what does a positive OPK mean? That you have ovulated? Or that you are close to ovulation?

HbH04 · 06/01/2017 10:28

Nice one confused Can't argue with those lines!

I think we're cycle twins!

Redpony1 · 06/01/2017 10:08

Wooohooo a positive OPK! Time for sexy undies and top notch seducing skills this eve confused oh, and tomorrow too... ha!
How long have you been testing before you got the 2 lines?

confusedat23 · 06/01/2017 09:58

Morning Ladies!

Gosh this thread was really active whilst I was MIA yesterday..

Dancing I saw that too! I told DH that he has to take that now and he said "No I am not putting that rubbish in my body, it's not good for you" Shock there are no words... lol

Red my day is a lot like yours and me and DH have just ordered some weights etc for a mini home gym. He wants to get fit to run around with this baby boy he has decided we are having lol!

I also know the Marina stuff happens when you first get the coil... you see it a lot on her and my sis was convinced she was preggo about 6 months after getting hers in!

Today is the day I FUCKING FINALLY GOT A POSITIVE OPK... now knowing that knowledge is power I wondered if I can convinve DH to DTD for a third day in a row... this whole not trying not really preventing thing is so morally difficult! I want a baby Sad loool

unicorn absolutely would love to see men pop the pills for a change! I read they had a male one too but they had a few side effects like mood swings and weight gain so it was shelved.... If that's not a double standard then I don't know what is!
Also AF arrived this morning so I'm also just waiting for it to bugger off to be officially trying too!
seven enjoy the rest of the birthday treats

Redpony1 · 06/01/2017 09:32

Welcome NickMyLipple , Not drinking enough used to be a big downfall of mine and is not good at all. Now i keep a big water bottle on my desk at all times & set a 20min timer on my phone to remind me to drink (you can get apps that remind you too!) SW will also not work well if you don't drink enough. Good luck Grin

DancingUnicorn walking is a great way to add steps in, making sure you get atleast 10k steps a day is a great challenge. You say you are tired at the end of the day, obviously i have no idea what your day looks like or what you do, but i find doing more keeps me from feeling tired. I'm only tired if i think about stopping haha

I'm trying to fit more into my day at the moment but i start my day at 5:30am and get home around 7:30/8pm. There really is no more room to fit other stuff in such as going to a gym Sad

TheGrumpySquirrel · 06/01/2017 09:30

Wiggley thanks good to know I am not insane - sore boobs, tired and had some nausea earlier this week so POAS this morning again but also negative (after squinting at it for ages!). Impatient for a real period so I can at least start tracking cycles.

Seven0fNine · 06/01/2017 09:25

My phone just popped up with the rest of the posts since yesterday. I too am a big fan or sparking water with elderflower juice as a wine substitute. DH used to have a massive fizzy drink addiction and it took a few weeks of torture but he managed to cut it out and lost 3 stone. Now he's just addicted to tea instead! Lol!

Seven0fNine · 06/01/2017 09:19

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Cake was certainly consumed but I'm in the right mind frame for starting properly on Sunday as it's back to work Monday and there's a couple more birthday treats before then.

Busy I'm pinching Dorothy off you for my list. Absolutely love it, with Dot/Dotty for short 😂 we have been thinking of baby names for years as well. We like Hector for a boy but we do shorten names all the time so not sure what we'd call him for short. I don't think I'm down with calling my kid Hec... I think boys names are really hard! Liking biblical and Jewish names although not religious!

Glad you like this list orange

DancingUnicorn · 06/01/2017 09:18

Mrsc I read recently that there is a vague possibility of a contraceptive pill for men!! (It was probably one of these, it theoretically could be possible one day things rather than something actually being developed) Wouldn't it be great to let them be the ones playing around with their hormones for a while?!
Good news for me! AF arrived, which means once it buggers off I can be officially trying!! Thankful I have here to share. First couple of days of AF make me pretty miserable so at least there's a positive in it this month.

Good luck to all for lots of water today! Loving the sparkling water ideas.

Wiggleyfingers · 06/01/2017 06:15

Squirrel I can vouch for the mirena crash! First hand experience over here...first month off I had all pregnancy symptoms including nausea and some very vivid dreams! I was convinced I had conceived before removal and then it had implanted after. 7 POAS later with both a sniff if a BFP I realised it was just crazy hormones adjusting. I'm now 4 cycles off and everything is back to normal (almost!)
Lippie I also understand not getting thirsty! It's a real problem because I can easily go all day without a drink. I've bought myself a fancy new water bottle to help me remember to have it on me at all times! Still don't drink enough but it's more that I was so...baby steps! (Pun intended!)

MrsC2017 · 05/01/2017 23:25

Hi lippie, I buy the small bottles of water in bulk in aldi and keep them in the drawers in the fridge and then they are cold and in a bottle already so easy to grab on the go and def helps me keep hydrated! A good way to get rough ideas of your cycle is to just get an app once u get off he contraception and input in when u get periods and after a few cycles when u settle in it'll be a decent enough predictor!
Of course last five cycles have been 26 days and now that I want AF it's day 26 and of course no sightings, and app warning me all day, no signs it's coming either, I have been much less of a bitch than I normally am this weekGrin!
hbh I am a sparkling water addict, I subbed it for coke a few years ago and never looked back, also do herbal tea so I'm not bad for water but have bladder issues so my life is hell if I get dehydrated so I guess I'm more conscious of it!
squirrel I hope things settle down for you, I remember when I got the mirena out two years ago I was all over the place for the first month and googled and there is actually a phenomenon called 'the mirena crash' so maybe u are pill crashing! Honestly I always say it if men had to go through this they would have come up with something better by now!

NickMyLipple · 05/01/2017 22:53

Hi HB

The good stuff is bad but I like the real actual good stuff too...I just like too much of everything!

HbH04 · 05/01/2017 22:15

Hey nick & dino !

I could live on full fat coke if I was allowed, sadly not! About a year ago a gave it up apart from an absolute treat & subbed it for sparkling water with lemon slices... Bit more interesting than straight up water but still healthy & hydrating!

I think although diet drinks have few kcals, the sweetners do evil things, so can't be taken at face value!

Why is all the good stuff bad?!

TheLovelyOtherDinosaur · 05/01/2017 21:26

Stats:

Location: U.K.

Age: 32
Kids: None
TTC: End of April/ beginning of May
Contraception: Condoms- Have been off pill nearly a year- my cycle was all to pot for ages after
Cycle: Approx 26 days

Excitinggggg!!!

NickMyLipple · 05/01/2017 21:00

squirrel I definitely don't drink enough water at all. I don't even dislike water, just don't ever feel the need to drink it and so mostly forget. Herbal tea is a good idea - might try that! I personally don't find that coke zero makes me eat sugary foods - since being back on slimming world I only really eat fruit as sweet snacks. I am strict with myself whilst doing SW - I don't cheat as I am only cheating myself, so I don't buy chocolate at the petrol station or a sandwich for lunch at work when I'm in the right mindset, but I am aware that I probably drink too much (even though it's billed as 'healthy') and I must up my water intake!

NickMyLipple · 05/01/2017 20:53

Location? South East England
Age? 27
Kids? None!
TTC? Not trying just yet, no rush!
Contraception? Implant in place at the moment. Will be 3 years in July. Will consider removal before as AF has started to rear her ugly head!
Cycle? Absolutely no idea - I've not had any idea of my cycle since I was 14 as I started the depo then and have had the implant for 2 1/2 years. How do you measure your cycles? Blush I've started spotting since July - I've had 4 episodes since then but haven't needed to wear sanitary towels - just slight blood when wiping (tmi!!)

TheGrumpySquirrel · 05/01/2017 20:52

Welcome lippie and well done for kick starting the weight loss!

I've heard that artificially sweetened diet drinks like Coke Zero actually make you eat more bad sugary food because you get used to the sweetness .. I would try to ditch the coke in favour of water (or unsweetened ice tea? Or herbal tea?). You aren't drinking much water at all..

I'm still feeling horribly bloated 10 days after coming off the pill and completely exhausted in the evenings. I'm actually just about to go to sleep! Wtf is wrong with me.

NickMyLipple · 05/01/2017 20:45

Evening! Can I join?! I started a thread the other day about being hugely overweight and wanting to TTC. I am mortified that I am as heavy as I am - re-joined slimming world this week to try to kick start it. I'm struggling with the motivation to loose weight to allow me to safely carry a baby, but I know it would be too dangerous right now. I also don't drink anything during the day - I usually have a coffee with a dash of milk and a sweetener in the morning and a can of coke zero at lunch. I then usually have 250mls of coke zero at home in the evening and then probably another 250ml of water before bed. I know I don't drink enough but I also never feel thirsty, so I forget to drink too. I think I need to up my water intake - at the moment it's virtually nothing!

Anyway, lovely to meet you all!

DancingUnicorn · 05/01/2017 20:37

Good advice on the walking red. I think I'm going to have to start going for a walk at lunch times away from desk! I'm too tired at the end of the day to do anything. Want my Fitbit to stop mocking my laziness!!

orangefolly · 05/01/2017 19:07

Hi again - wow, loving how active this thread is. So I have started in on the vitamins and cutting down on my caffeine and sugar intake Blush Upping the amount of swimming I do too. Going to make an appointment to get my taken out in early Feb. Eek!

Theres ah - sorry about the further delay! It seems there are so many reasons we can be given for now not being the right time! Loving the name book

Hb apparently tonic water is supposed to help with putting the mozzies off too.

Seven - thanks for the healthy grocery list, really handy - doing my shop right now! Smile

TheGrumpySquirrel · 05/01/2017 16:38

8 weeks till I am actively TTC.. not counting or anything Wink excited.

Ate quite healthy today, it's a rest day for me so no workout. Yoga tomorrow.

Redpony1 · 05/01/2017 13:22

Welcome samidolls , how about getting out and doing some fast walking to increase exercise? You just need to wear comfy clothes and trainers and just increase distance etc. Any extra movement will help. Have you go a local Parkrun? We have 5 or 6 ladies that walk ours and they are there every week - i can visibly see they are getting slimmer each time i see them too.

I'm not a great vegetable fan, but i am finding i prefer roasted vegetables more than steamed/boiled so i have been doing that.
Just generally cutting out processed food has been a great help already this week :)

MrsC2017 · 05/01/2017 13:19

tea I'm Irish so like the Irish names too! I love Arabic names but don't think we could have one considering the paleness of us both! DS has a very standard common name, think I would like to go a little off the beaten track but having suffered with a difficult to spell name myself I am eager to avoid that! Nameberry is a really good name website, if a little americanised but a good way of hearing unusual names!
