Don't know what I expect anyone to say or do but just need to put this in words for my own sanity!

Please forgive me if this is a ramble but I've got so much stuff going round my head at the moment I just needed to spill it out somewhere.
DH and I have been ttc no.2 since January and to be honest I wasn't expecting it to happen soon, was expecting it to take a few cycles. Long story short, did a pregnancy test yesterday and got a faint positive line, but been having cramps for some time and spots of blood. AF is around 4 days late. I've had flu for a week and have taken all manner of cold medications that say you shouldn't take them if pregnant, plus Dd has chicken pox (isn't this harmful in early pregnancy?). Now I'm quite resigned to the fact that, if I was pregnant, then I'm probably likely to miscarry but what's bugging me is the fact my body won't make up it's mind! If AF is going to start I just wish it would I feel like I'm hanging in the balance. Don't want to do another test incase it confirms and says not preganant, even though I'd be surprised if I still was, does that make any sense?! Sorry - end of spouting

Thank you scorpio, I really appreciate having people to moan to on here - sorry, it's probably not so much fun the othr way round! Doctors are rammed full and receptionists as approachable as a wasp on a bad day. There is little I can do so am going to try and have a normal day with Dd. Will keep people informed. x

If you possibly can go and have a rest do so and take that nice lemon toddy with you. There are many many women on here who have healthy babies who have had bleeding and spotting especially very early on in the pregnancy. I am from the October thread so am very newly pregnant and it is like a hellish limbo where it is all too early to 'do' anything reassuring but just try to stay positive and calm and take one day at a time.

MillyM, I know this isn't your main worry, but have you had chickenpox yourself? If you have then there's no need to worry at all, your immunity will protect your baby. If you haven't then it's worth getting a shot of immunoglobulins, so I would definitely try and see a doctor sooner rather than later.

it is true they cant do anything about it,but still....nice for reassurance from docs,isnt it? have they said they won't see you or something?thats not right.

and guessing you cant go to sleep or have a day of rest?

I've looked on the internet and can't find an epu near me. Doctors are completely unhelpful. Dh is of the opinion that if I'm miscarrying they won't be able to do anything about it this early on anyway so let nature take it's course - he's not saying this in an unfeeling way though. ARGGGHHHHHHH, I want to go to sleep.

have you got a GP appointment or an EPU near you? i'd get an appointment,just for reassurance. im sure this has happened to lots of other ladies on here,remember reading alot about it.

Trying to be positive, really I am, but just been to loo and there's been more 'blood', but not blood iyswim, more like that stuff you get just before AF arrives

Ok..... for any one out there, I've done another test and it's definitely positive. It is only one of those cheap ebay type ones though, does that still count?! A bit more blood last night but it's only ever been light pink in colour (sorry for tmi). Blast, do I allow myself to hope then?

Oh my god! I sometimes wonder how Dd has survived! I'm sure some recipie or other told me to put honey in it when she was about 10 months . Phew on the honey ok for me though, am strangely (and sadly) looking forward to a hot honey drink!!

Dont worry dont panic- it's ok- I got it wrong- dont give honey to babies under 1 though. Botulism apparently...

you have to watch out with honey actually when PG. Something about listeria? or some other bacteria? Someone google it for me!

Thank you! You lot really are life savers! I'm sending Dh off to Sainsburys as we speak (poor man is run off his feet with two of us ill!). Now I just have to foster positive feelings and maybe this could be a happy ending. . . .

paracetamol, hot lemon & honey ... think that's about it, I'm afraid .... think lulumam posted that anything with a decongestant (eben olbas oil is not recommended as it may effect some pregnant mucusy thing, or something (wasn' paying much attention, sorry, but if you check old threads in health/pregnancy you'll find it
Let us know how tommorrow's test goes

Thank you Furryfox - disolvable paracetamol is one of the few things that will touch my throat when it gets as sore as this. Weighing up the options. . . .Think I'll do a pg test tomorrow am and if negative I'll take the paracetamol -that way, in my addled mind, I'm safe both ways!!

Don't know of any specific flu stuff you can take but paractemol might help and is safe during pg - hope you feel better soon and good luck

Just a thought, incase I am / ever was / continue to be / whatever (!) pregnant, does anyone know of any flu / sore throat stuff it's ok to take? Everything I see has 'consult your doctor' emblazoned all over it.

I hadn't thought of any of those things - see I really am useless at pregnancy . I will ring dr's tomorrow for emergency appointment (they normally say come at 5 and be prepared to sit around!) Dd has appointment tonight so I know there were none left today. Isn't it awful when you just daren't hope ? I hadn't expected it this soon so am still burying my head aren't I?! At least you ladies are there to speak sense to me! Thank you so much
MrsMcJnr - I'm with you on what will be will be, I'll be keeping an eye out on the october thread for you, even if I can't join you!

I had spotting with both my pregancy - and really bad cramps with the first one ... kids now 3 & 10 mths! Apparently about 1/3 of women have some bleeding in pregnancy.
The doc probably won't be able to do anything hugely helpful other than refer you to the EPU ... and you can self-refer to that (or if you want to look more official - ring NHS Direct -t they're really lovely & sympathetic I found - rang them everytime I bled pretty much in my first pregnancy (& I bled about twice a week most of the time!)

I wouldn't wait til Tues - you'll just be worrying - if you want to see the doc first, ring the receptions and stamp/cry/explain the situation as appropriate!!

I think there is a very very very vague chace of complications if YOU have chickenpox in early pregnancy ... but dd having it shouldn't affect, I don't think. My best mate had the pox when 7 weeks preg, and her babe was absolutely fine.

Or you could see if your local hospital has an EPU?
