Thread 21 TTC #1 - The one where all our cycles went haywire but we DID NOT GIVE UP

Calling all clomid-ers, OPK-ers, temp-ers and anyone else on the TTC Bus.

We are long past cervix prodding (in fact we know where it is at any given time just by closing our eyes) and we have ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar. We don't do baby dust, or baby-dancing, we just keep legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX) We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate, but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face. You get kwick-cake if you behave, and talked down from the ledge when you need it.

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share....

No symptoms at all really Music my boobs felt a tiny bit sensitive on Sunday night which is why I tested on Monday but got a BFN!

Musicgrrl · 30/11/2016 08:08

I think you can get excited now Mrs!!! Congratulations! Have you had any symptoms??

sk1pper · 30/11/2016 08:05

MrsG - OH my god!!! Looks positive to me. Congratulations!

Mouse - I think it's a case of, does it need saying? She knows and you know she knows and TTC is always a private thing. You can have a talk if you're finding it awkward but I don't think she'll be feeling left out or anything. And sometimes indirect support is better than full blown support because the pressure is off, no unwanted concersations when things aren't going particularly well etc. Totally up to you though! Either way, your parents sound amazing.

MrsG280516 · 30/11/2016 07:56

Ummm guys, what is going on?!? I totally expected another BFN this morning ShockShock
AF due on Saturday so I'm 12dpo today! Trying not to get too excited until she stays away.

Wingingit welcome back. I'm taking it a bit more relaxed this cycle. I'll probably lurk when AF buggers off.

London buying a house was probably the most stressful time of my entire life. The wedding was a breeze in comparison. Please be good to one another, and hold each other's hand. You'll both be feeling the stress.

Kwick hugs. Bosses who make you cry can swivel. Wink

Sooooooo I'm pretty sure my mum knows I'm TTC. Bless her she's been to my house today (my parents live around the corner and my early retired dad is currently decorating for us - he loves it, and it's keeping him busy) and she's cleaned my bathroom and hoovered upstairs for me (I'm having issues with my back and pelvis at the moment) and it's a massive help. However she's put fresh towels out, so she's seen my thermometer by my bed, and cleaned using my cloths, my OPK and HPT are all right next to the new pack of sanitary towels and cleaning cloths in my bathroom. So, yeah. She's not stupid. I almost feel I should tell her now, so she's not on tenderhooks about me announcing a pregnancy. I know she is desperate to be a nanna and I know she will be an amazing grandparent as will my dad. I'm so lucky to have them.

Musicgrrl · 29/11/2016 21:21

jam that argument really sucks but so glad you have made up now and talked about it. It sounds as though your DH knew that he was completely out of order and it was a heat of the moment comment that he clearly didn't mean. Hope he still treats you to dinner/cake/wine or something though!

alexia it's so good to hear from you. Those side effects sound awful. Really hope they pass soon. Do you take it all the way through your cycle or just on certain days?

wanting please poas tomorrow - we're all dying to know!

mrs nice chart. Agree with others that a BFN at 10dpo doesn't mean you're out this cycle. Hope your temps stay high!

skipper I have no time for diets. I think trying both desserts was a good call by you!

kwik fingers so tightly crossed for you. Sorry that you've had to endure some BFNs and a shitty time at work. It sounds like you have a really stressful job. Have you tried anything for relaxing like yoga or pilates? I am looking to start one of them to help me develop a calmer state of mind generally!

winging that's so annoying. FX you still had some spermies up there from the last time and your O could have varied a day or so from the norm (ideally earlier!)

Sorry to everyone that has been, or suspects they have been, got by AF Flowers

miwelaisjacydo · 29/11/2016 20:32

Congrats kav👍😀💐
Let's hope it's like London busses on the BFP note

kwick · 29/11/2016 19:05

jam I am really sorry about your fall out with DH. I hope you can patch things up. And what fxskip said Grin

kavan I might have bought a Look Fantastic one which, initially was £70, but I did not buy in time so ended up getting one on ebay for more!

Alexia thanks for that - Femara sounds hardcore. I have been put on Inofolic )well at least I think that its name) - no side effects and helps fertility.
Been testing since sunday - no sign yet just BFNs... frickerty fcuk Sad

I am on Eurostar back - day was ok except one of my bosses made me cry this morning on the phone. Yep it is a bit of a shitty time at work... but that is just it I only have work and TTC to focus on - need to change that!

Londonjam · 29/11/2016 18:44

Thank you for your support too girls, it's very much appreciated. Fxskip i read your reply about three times this morning! DH emailed me a big sincere apology and I replied and we've sorted it out. So thanks for helping me remember it's normal for couples to struggle with this at times.

He's out this evening so it's me the cat and some I'm a Celebrity to catch up on. Kwick you can definitely fancy both Ant and Dec Wink

Londonjam · 29/11/2016 18:36

Hope you're alright binky sorry if it is AF

Harriet partying Dec sounds the way forward, January will be here before you know it

Wanting I can understand you avoiding the white glare of the BFN, however I would have tested by now! Fx for you

Winging oh bad timing! You were doing it before so a good chance I think

WingingIt83 · 29/11/2016 17:56

Hi all, long time no speak (well in reality it's probably less than a month but that's an age in MN-land!)

Couldn't believe I'd caught up on 30+ pages and still no BPFs until the very end......mega congrats kav!!!

So I've taken a bit of a different approach this cycle. Stopped temping, didn't opk or even look at my app, stopped taking pills and fussing about special LP diets. The aim was to completely forget when in the cycle I was. DTD every 3 days was the aim, and it started off quite well. I never thought I'd be able to put FW out my mind, but amazingly I did, I soon couldn't remember the day of my period and therefore was in complete blissful ignorance about my cycle day.

DH had been performing well on the 3 day schedule, until the 4th occasion when his back put pay it, and I couldn't resist checking ovia to see where I was at....to my surprise CD18 already. Have to laugh though as even when DH has no idea what time of the month it is, he still failed to perform on CD18 yet again! (i believe i ovulate on CD17 or 18). Now on CD26 so expecting AF any day now.

Haven't made my doc appointment yet either, but will probably aim to do so in the next week and kick things off there.

MouseLove · 29/11/2016 17:21

Wanting. Get bloody testing. You probably wouldn't even need to wait for FMU either. If it's a BFN then you know just to wait. But if it's a BFP then you have yourself a Christmas announcement!!!!

MrsG your chart looks perfect. Test again on Sunday if AF isn't here. Looks promising. X

sk1pper · 29/11/2016 17:10

MrsG - what a lovely chart. The dips and troughs don't matter, the overall pattern is lovely - nice temp rise and solid cross hairs. Hope your temp stays elevated!

WantingBaby1 · 29/11/2016 17:05

mouse I'm on cd30. I'm usually 28 days and this is my third cycle. Probably absolutely nothing but odd for me to be this late. Leaving it anothing day or two before I test.

MrsG280516 · 29/11/2016 16:58

This months chart is shaping up to be a bit clearer than last months but my temp is a bit rocky! What do we think, 11dpo today and a BFN yesterday. AF due on Saturday but will usually start spotting on Friday.

MouseLove · 29/11/2016 16:45

Wanting, sorry for being a dunce, can you remind us of your stats? Cycle? Usual cycle length. What CD you are today?

WantingBaby1 · 29/11/2016 16:24

music I'm a reluctant to test incase it's a bfn and just a weird long is cycle Confused

I may poas tomorrow.

One of my best friends had a bfn until she was over a week overdue. I think that's what's stopping me.

sk1pper enjoy the nice food and wine!

sk1pper · 29/11/2016 15:38

Alexia - glad you are there still xx

Wanting - yeah how have you not texted? Grin I know we're all poas mad on here but late period is one of those times you just have to test. Good luck, hope we're going for a double BFP this week!

My special diet has failed so far this cycle. Visiting my OH's grandad and there is SO MUCH delicious home baked food and good wine. There was two desserts to choose from last night I had both and I forgot to bring my decaf tea so have been drinking caffeine non stop since we got here. I know I shouldn't be so strict with myself all the time but I'll regret it when AF turns up again.

Musicgrrl · 29/11/2016 15:21

I have loads to say to various posts which I will do later but I just have to leap on to say how have you not poas wanting?!?!

WantingBaby1 · 29/11/2016 14:18

Ah kav you're getting my hopes up! No sign of af yet. Had funny tummy pains on and off since approx 3 dpo. She was due on sun so I'll test maybe tomorrow morning or Thursday. It's only cycle 2 ttc, 3rd off the pill, so may well be my cycles still settling down.

kavanaughkj · 29/11/2016 13:15

... is it possible for baby brain to hit this early? only DTD twice in FW! For some reason not very concentrated atm ... Confused

kavanaughkj · 29/11/2016 13:14

Wanting, I was absolutely sure I wasn't pregnant, too - and yes, only did it twice in DTD. I had no pg symptoms at all until yesterday, though I hadn't had my usual AF cramps either, which I generally get one or two days before AF is due to hit. The symptoms I did get yesterday were so mild as to make me think I was imagining things ... sensitive sense of smell - I could smell me which sounds weird, and I smelled unusual - the ever so slightly more tender boobs than they usually are before AF - and they're usually tender before AF, so I thought I was imagining it - and the sensitive teeth thing. That was a new one on me - eating my lunch yesterday properly hurt my teeth.

Other than that nothing. I was tired, but I often am. I was hungry, but I often am. I was thirstier than usual but not so much it stuck out as obviously a symptom.

I'm just relieved beyond words that my body's confirmed I'm capable of this - I've not had a sniff of a bfp in 11 months and being 37 I was worried about the age factor. I'd actually booked in with the doctor to go talk about booking in for fertility treatment. Guess I can make that a trip to go get official confirmation now Grin ... the parts of my mind that aren't singing and dancing now are in slight panic wondering wtf I do now!

Fingers crossed you're not out yet Binky - and hope your cycles settle down soon Mouse and Miranda. That has to be frustrating :(

harrietm87 · 29/11/2016 12:07

Yay kav and starky!!! Delighted for you! We've needed a bfp on this board.

I'm still fed up waiting. Decided to hold out till jan as planned but seriously struggling! Was at the inlaws at the weekend and could tell they wanted to ask us if we were trying but didn't - kept bringing up other people who are pregnant and their friends who have grandchildren!

I'm going to concentrate on partying in December to take my mind off it!

Miranda234 · 29/11/2016 11:48

Aw sorry to hear that Binky

Wanting still have fx for you, I think kav said she only dtd twice in fw so you never know.

mouse I'm with you on the stupid pills, my cycles are all over the place too. I'm annoyed with myself for never researching what it would do before trying otherwise I would have come off it much sooner. Hope cycle 3 is lucky one for you

AlexiaB · 29/11/2016 11:48

Kwick here's what Dr Google says: "When the enzyme aromatase is inhibited by the letrozole medication(Femara), estrogen levels are suppressed in young women. This results in the brain and pituitary gland increasing the output of FSH (follicle stimulating hormone). In women that have polycystic ovary syndrome or anovulation (a problem with ovulation) the increase in FSH hormone can result in development of a mature follicle in the ovary and ovulation of an egg. Doctors call this process "induction of ovulation." I never expected it to be so bad! How are you lovely? Are you testing soon?

Jam massive hugs to you Flowers I know he doesn't mean it but it is hard to forget words like that. You will be fine. The stress of TTC is real (and house moving) and it sucks! Let him make it up to you now and take you somewhere fancy Wink Hope your grandma is out of hospital very soon Flowers Congrats on your product tooStar

Oh Binky I'm so sorry lovey FlowersSad and to everyone else who got AF. Mouse skipper Skip Gee EJ - may your next cycles lead to your much deserved bfps FlowersCake

Huge congratulations Kav ! ! !

Good luck with the opks Star. I was very happy to read yours and Jam's fab scan news.

Welcome to all newbies and good luck to those testing soon. Sorry if I've missed anyone, it's not intentional.
