If you are going solo, what have you told people, and how have they reacted? I've only talked about it with a few people, and they have almost universally been excited and supportive (though if I hear "brave" once more I may throw things).
My mother is thrilled to bits. She offered to come with me to the clinic (no, just...no). She's talking about coming to stay to assist if it all works out. She's generally delighted that I've taken matters forward. My Dad (parents divorced) is...nice about it. Maybe apprehensive. He made a comment that some members of his family might be surprised and I said he didn't need to tell them or his friends anything - they didn't need to know I don't have a partner! I am sure that the people I am in contact with would understand and I don't really care about the rest (didn't say this bit to him). He hasn't asked any questions, but that could be because I've updated him briefly and practically "I am looking into.../I've been to a clinic/I've started the process". He certainly hasn't said anything negative, apart from a couple of small concerns.
Sorry, this got a bit long, but I'd be very interested to hear who you have told, and how they reacted.
