this cycle i am going to try REALLY hard to stop drinking every night. last night was my first alcohol free night since sept (when i truly thought i was pg!). i know that sounds shocking, but i love a glass of wine and i never want to stop drinking in the 2ww cos its like tempting fate.
anyone else as bad as me? please say yes someone!

Greedy - what is your imagination like???!!! Or is it the tv you are watching???!!!

Think you need to stick to some fluffy feel good films, if you getting scared on your own! Try the Sound of Music!!!!

I want a glass of wine, can I have a virtual one with you?

How long is DH away for?

greedyforbabies · 24/01/2007 20:16

everyone has abandoned me on this thread! i am afraid my restraint has GONE! i am on my second glass of wine tonight, but i did manage 2 nights without (couldn't sleep though!). i have an excuse tonight though cos dh is away, so i need to get slightly pissed to overcome the 'oh my god someone is going to come and stab me and my children' feeling!

Greedy - I fell pg with ds1 on honeymoon and probably got v drunk most nights!! poor child - he is now 6! DS2 I was due my af and had a spot of blood so thought oh well thats af, so got v drunk with DH, a week later thought oh thats strange no af and it was + he's nearly 4 and now trying for #3 and not going to give up having a few glasses of wine to relax etc (DH works away so like to have some nice wine on a friday and saturday - tend to try and not drink in the week, though saying that had a few glasses last night!! and Af due this weekend! and its my birthday on Monday so we are out alot! I think its more if you drink once you find out although saying that did have the odd glass

I never thought I would be able to go without wine if pregnant, but I really didn't fancy it at all. Best cure for drinking

NotAnOtter · 23/01/2007 18:15

yes i always WANT to get a + so i can stop
NO willpower

I wonder if a couple of small glasses 2-3 times a week is that detrimental? In France where they drink wine like water (apologies for the blatant racial stereotyping!) what are there guidelines for pregnant women?

I don't drink. But I don't see that a small amount can be that detrimental??

i am going to try to cut back to just weekends.....trouble is...weekends to me are fri, sat and sun ( and sometimes thurs!)
anyway...surely ANY cutting back is good? (i can feel myself giving in already!one night of no drinking and i think i am a tee-totaler!)

Yes!

I have cut back to weekends only now after a rather boozy Christmas and don't really miss it tbh.

But I can't give up the wine completely.
