this cycle i am going to try REALLY hard to stop drinking every night. last night was my first alcohol free night since sept (when i truly thought i was pg!). i know that sounds shocking, but i love a glass of wine and i never want to stop drinking in the 2ww cos its like tempting fate.
anyone else as bad as me? please say yes someone!

well, I may need to rethink my abstinence then!!!!!!

Ready · 26/01/2007 17:41

and i found this here

Booboobedoo · 26/01/2007 17:40

Whoopsy.

Booboobedoo · 26/01/2007 17:40

Greedy: when I was ttc I read in a couple of places that women who drink moderately (which for the purposes of that article was 8 units a week) are statistically likely to conceive more quickly than women who are teetotal.

That's only true for first baby's though. The teetotallers win out for second/third conceptions.

I had about 10 units a week when TTC, and found it very difficult to stick to (especially as we were trying for 18 months).

Good luck!

I don't actually drink, but I don't think that a couple of glasses here and there can do any real harm. it is most definitely the binge drinking that is detrimental.

not trying to scare anyone!! just thought it was interesting.

twoisenoughmum · 26/01/2007 17:33

Yes, and overall I think they're healthier than we are. They don't tend to binge drink, though. But then neither do I. Never get drunk, but I do love my wine, and sometimes wonder if I should be worried about the amount I drink ...

Ready · 26/01/2007 17:30

That's really freaky, I was wondering about the french the other day. Cos they drink wine with every meal don't they...?

twoisenoughmum · 26/01/2007 17:27

This is slightly off the subject - but do the French have guideline weekly limits like we do? And is a small glass of wine 1 unit or 2 units?

greedyforbabies · 26/01/2007 17:06

guess i will be stopping drinking for the next 8 months or so now then! shit thats going to be hard! also regretting my whole bottle the other night! oh well, guess theres no point in worrying!

Greedy, I hope you didn't think I was being all judgemental!!

ammylovesbabies · 25/01/2007 21:47

I'm a lush and have 2 parties to attend this weekend and AF due next week. Bloody dreading it. I'm gonna try so hard but know I'll be on my knees crying for a taxi 2am tomorrow. Shameful eh?

greedyforbabies · 25/01/2007 21:46

i don't regularly have a bottle to myself by the way. its normally one or two glasses thats all!

greedyforbabies · 25/01/2007 21:45

it was definately a whole 750ml bottle ready! dont be shocked! it didn't even touch the sides! certainly don't get pissed after a bottle anymore, otherwise i would never have drunk that much. dh was away so i had no one to share it with. i am hopeless at trying to get to sleep when he's not around, so i need a bit of a sedative!
only had one glass tonight so far! i will be having a night off tomorrow hopefully!

Don't worry Ready, we know were you were coming from and I'm sure no one thought that of you.

Guilty as charged Lottie!

Ready · 25/01/2007 14:14

Apologies if I come across all holier than thou... really not my intention!! I guess it's cos when I did partake... I would only need 2 glasses to be giggly and blurry ... which is one reason why I gave up... far too lightweight!

Oh Ready we know you don't partake in the dark side but you'd be surprised how many 75cl bottles have leaks in them, sometimes the whole bottle seeps away and I've only had one glass.........

Natty1806 · 25/01/2007 14:07

a bottle is not toooo bad maybe try and cut down to half a bottle a day or everyother day.

Ready · 25/01/2007 13:58

you had a whole bottle to yourself???

I'm presuming it's those teeny little 250ml bottles I buy for my cooking!!

MrsMcJnr · 25/01/2007 13:56

greedyforbabies · 25/01/2007 13:01

Greedy!!! Stop beating yourself up for having a bit of alcohol! You know what is overdoing it, and I am sure you don't!!

fettle · 24/01/2007 20:56

I think in my younger days I probably had cycles that long. Probably had 3-4 periods a year! But after I lost 3 stone in weight before I got married, they became slightly shorter, but still pretty irregular.

I think you're DH has probably learnt his lesson about being away at the wrong time now!! You really don't know. Remember last cycle, I really thought we'd messed up as the last time we BD was 3 days before ov, but I still conceived. 5 days isn't unheard of. Did you temp go up 5 days later, cos then you may have ov'd upto 36 hours earlier. I'm going to stop now, as you now know what county I live in and you might track me down to give me a chinese burn, you promised!!

Sorry, easier to feel positive for other people than myself!!

x

greedyforbabies · 24/01/2007 20:48

he is only away for one night this time! and i dont think he will ever go away at the 'CRUCIAL' time again! did you see my temp today? if i didn't know there wasn't a chance i would be sooooooooooooo excited this month! i was looking on ovusoft yesterday at the charts archive (not sure why really!) at long cycles, and there are some women on there who didn't ovulate until about day 70!!!!!! and to think we were moaning!!!!
