Well, Fettle mentioned we should have a general chat thread - and I think it's a great idea!! We could have this one for idle chatter that doesn't have anything to do with actually TTC but just general stuff we want share with our TTC pals... Am I making any sense at all?? Fettle, help me out here

I'll start us off... has everyone seen the public profile that we can share with each other?? It's pretty cool... But I didn't realise how nosy I was, I just keep clicking on everyone's name now

oh..my DH is very geeky too and working in IT..

On the pushchair side....as I did take a sneak preview when I was pregnant. Bugaboos are lovely and are very expensive. The best one to get is around £750 with most of the accessories . However due to cleb's having them they become desirable to all sorts. I have seen some people with them and thought...ummm that does not look good! We also looked at the Quinney but when we went to John Lewis a man said to his wife it looked like a golf cart...that put me off.

But also agree with Ready..these are all things that you should wait for when you are pregnant... it is so good seeing all the things for the first time and getting all the brochures.. Otherwise 9 months will REALLY drag!

You see... all these things need to be thrashed out before a BFP!! I need something that works!! If it's not cocoa butter, then I need alternatives...

Do I sound like a control freak???

I started the name thread, yes. But I haven't decided on names... DH and I cannot agree on girls names at all.
When (please let it be soon) I am pg, I will spend my evenings doing nothing but making DH make me cups of ovaltine and rub cocoa butter into my belly so any decisions that can be made now leave more time for belly rubs

ready! stop it!!!!! when you are pg you will have lots of time to decide on what pram you want! you were also guilty of starting a baby names thread weren't you?.....STOP IT! what will you do when you are pg if you have already decided on all this stuff beforehand! 9 months is a long time to fill...........try and save something to do when you are pg!

Well, I have to confess I am partial to the bugaboos... but I read on here somewhere they are chavvy? I have never heard this before. Can anyone shed some light on this??

Not that it would stop me. I would just make sure I didn't get it in Burberry swatch

It's really nice.. I'm a very lucky girl!

I work for a bank, but being made redundant, I'm currently on my notice period. I have been aware of the redundancy for a long time, due to some project work I was doing.. so started making plans. My own business also fitted in with having a child, so I could work more flexible hours. I have a partner in the business (my father)..but I boss him around ..hehe
I do miss my minions...but my dad will have to do for now.. I have realised how lazy I could be..even down to putting paper in the printer. Our business is predominately financial planning, workshops, seminars and advisory. But we are quite different from the normal IFA businesses that are out there.

What do you do?

Its OK, I heard someone say that she didn't get the ending of The Fellowship of the Rings and that it seemed unfinished! Didn't have a clue it was part of a bigger story!

Has anyone been to see it on stage? I'd love to go!

I will look out for that when AF arrives!! I'm not aversed to a cheesy musical!

I love Christopher Nolan's work... Memento is a fabulous film... Guy Pearce is brilliant! - I always picture the tattoos!... Insomnia is brilliant too, Robin Williams as a weirdo is always great to watch (One Hour Photo!) and who doesn't think highly of Al Pacino!? Really enjoyed Batman Begins too... He really nails the dark genre!

I feel like such a geek rambling on about films, but other than my DH, no one I know has passion for films like I do... I remember someone at work saying that they thought Lost In Translation was pointless and dull with no plot, and I got most annoyed, and the debate(mostly friendly!) went on for days!

The Prestige was good - not as good as Insomnia and Memento (by same director) but certainly good to pass the time - good twist at the end.

Stranger than Fiction was fun but could have well been a Sat movie with a pizza at home kind of thing. No need for the big screen.

One of my favourite Woody Allen films is Everyone Says I Love You. It is very corny (a musical!) but it makes me smile every time. If you are feeling down about you know what, watch it and have a laugh at the silliness of it all.

It's ok, I started the baby talk

OOOOOH. I wanted to see The Prestige, but we didn't get a chance to see it, by the time we had time to go it wasn't out anymore ... is it amazing?? I can't wait to see it.

I didn't see Stranger Than Fiction either, I read the reviews and they weren't complimentary. Not that I believe what the critics say!! The premise has so much potential... did it work?? I love Emma Thompson!

Last thing I saw was Babel, and The Last King Of Scotland.

I have only recently got into Woody Allen, but I am truly inspired by him. I long to be even half as good as he is!! Watched Match Point and really enjoyed it (with the exception of Jonathan Rhys-Meyers appalling (IMO) acting)... loved Melinda and Melinda... then recently Annie Hall and Manhattan were on Film4/TCM (I forgot which) and really enjoyed them both... Annie Hall more so.

I have such wide range of tastes (just updated my profile) of movies... I haven't got one genre that I love the most. If I had to choose one film the rest of my life it would be Jackie Brown - Quentin Tarantino! I love him, he is awesome.

Ready, I do enjoy it though being the fundraiser means it has been really stressful too.

I go through phases of coming every week and when don't for months. I get two comps a week so I have managed to recently see The Prestige and Stanger than Fiction. Now waiting to see the re-run of Pan's Labrynth and the re-release of Casablanca on Valentines Day!Also a big Woody Allen and Almodovar fan. What do you like?

We are planning to start parent/baby screenings and I can't wait to get pg to at least be able to take part (oops! sorry I forgot this was a non ttc thread!)

Fettle... I get around the DD conundrum by saying that it's a "guilty pleasure"... it's ok to have those!

Oh Gillian, what a great job working for an art house cinema - I am a total film devotee. I love love love going to the cinema. My local Odeon has started a Mothers and Babys screening... so really looking forward to taking my baby (fingers crossed) along to get them started early

Don't worry Greedy - I'm just fortunate that I seem to have a DD who quite happily lets me take her chocolate off her and replace it with an orange, on the understanding that the chocolate comes back afterwards! So on the whole we manage to avoid the unfortunate food discussions. However, the one time she's had a fruit shoot was in a chain pub and the children on the next door table had them and DD screamed for one - easier to give in to the screaming child than causing a scene I say myself!!
I think it was more the drinking bottle with the cool lid that she wanted rather than the juice inside, but they don't often sell bottles of water in those sports like drinking bottles, IYKWIM!

I think I'm waffling now and DH is grumping that I've been on the computer all evening, but I have been working a bit, promise!!

just read that back and realised i sound like a REALLY bad mother! PUBS?.... PIZZA HUT? ..........? i do feed my kids healthily honestly i do! they do very healthy pasta options in pizza hut and healthy kids meals (apart from the fruit shoots and ice cream!) in most of our local pubs!
OH MY GOD!!! i am frantically over compensating and waffling to try and redeem myself so you dont all call someone to come and take my kids off me!

no fettle, you are a GOOD mother! i would do that if i were stronger, but occasionally my kids do have them! they seem to be on all the kids menus in the pubs and pizza hut etc, so they normally get one each when we go out for lunch!
