TTC No. 3

I too am ttc no 3. When I was younger I thought it would be nice to have 4! I wanted two sets of twins!!! But I did not get married until I was 33 and concieved ds after 4 months of ttc, when he was 7 months old I concieved dd, again after 4 months of ttc. I thought that was it, I am too old to be doing this again, I have the perfect "gentleman's" family. But here I am with my three year old son and two year old daughter now wanting another baby!

I am only on month 2 of ttc so far, so can't say if it is taking any longer this time. But as for my age I appear to be the granny of the group being 39 in two weeks time!

As for cars/houses - we have two cars as both dh and I work. I was working parttime until last year, then took 5 months of being a SAHM. Loved everyminute of being at home with my two beautiful children, but then got offered current 6 month contract. Would like to be pregnant before the contract ends and go back on maternity leave again!!!!

We are currently living in an old cottage with one bedroom, and a second bedroom for the children, that we have created, squeezed beside a small kitchen. But we are also currently building a big 5 bedroomed house, that my mother says, she predicts I will fill with children!!!!!

Lets hope that we all get no3 soon!

i am due to have no3 in Mar and we only have an average family size home - our 2 dds share and the babe will have their own room. Our car is a larger size family car but again- three car seats across the back seat. We may look at getting a 7 seater in time but the one we have is doing just fine.

greedy I conceived very quickly with no1 and no2. No3 took about 7 months. Our children work out to be exactly 2 yrs 4 month gap between dd1 and dd2 and the same again between dd2 and no3! No way we planned that just the way it happened.

33 is not too old - that is when I had my first dd, 2nd at around 35 and now no3 - I am 38!!

I didn't work the first year of dd1's life - she had to have major surgery etc. I then worked the year she was 1 until almost 2. We then emigrated to Australia and I have not worked in paid employment since then. I was 20 weeks pregnant with dd2 when we emigrated.

Dd1 had a number of hospital and regular therapy appts which take time and I think as a parent it is important to attend them with her. Makes it hard on employment. I am also lucky that dh is in a job where we are able to live well on one income.

Boy sperm are supposed to swim faster and die quicker. Girl sperm are supposed to swim slower but last longer. For a girl, loads of sex until the day before you ovulate. So all the sperm are waiting for the egg to come out, and there are less boy ones. For a boy, sex on the day or day after ovulation. So egg is waiting and the fastest swimmers get to if first.

Thats the theory. If it worked, everyone would do it! Worth a try if you're very fertile and don't mind waiting a few months. Personally I'm going to go for the "lots of sex all the time and pray like crazy" method.

well as of last night (start of first period after coming off contraception jab 5 months ago) we are now trying for number 3!
have a 6 year old and a 1 year old. 3 bed house. Big people carrier but thats cos im a childminder.
Know what you mean about TTC threads cos 3 years ago i was on those threads and went on to lose 2 babies before successively having my DD. So anyway DH and I have decided to start TTC next week!
Any tips on how to get a boy?

By the way I'm 35 I will be 36 in May, aware that the clock is ticking!

Hi greedy also trying for no3. Shock to my parents as they are the 2 children is enough attitude. I have a Piccasso which should fit 3 kids in the back and a three bed house. Hoping this next one is a girl who will have the small room whilst the boys are sharing the bigger room. We would like to move as one or both of the in-laws may have to move in with us soon due to illness so we will need more bedrooms then. It just depends on the finances as I had to stop work when mil became ill as she can't childmind for us now and child care would be too expensive.

Funny I conceived the boys exactly the same as you and this is the second month of trying for us, so not sure what will happen this time.

Dd (4.5) took 9 months and ds (2 next month) was straight away. Oh and I'm 34.

We're just about to start trying, this cycle. Although, we abandoned the condoms a fortnight ago (after I thought ovulation had been and gone) and I'm now having a very wierd period. So who knows? I'm telling myself its just me, over-analysing...

I think we will be able to get 3 carseats across the back seat of our car, although I may spend my life fumbling under seats trying to find buckles. And we do have a big house but we are trying to sell it and move somewhere smaller (we want to release some money and start a business).

I'd quite like twins as I really want 4 kids, but I've had 2 caesareans and this will have to be another cs. But thought of having to look after twin babies fills me with fear, so perhaps not!

I'm hoping that the whole "am I aren't I" drama of ttc will take my mind off the fact that the house isn't selling .

It's good to see this thread as there are a few of us!

We have a three bed house but the girls share, well the 2 year old generally sleeps with us! My older daughter is 5. DD1 was a happy suprise and DD2 was concived straight away. I'm 28.

My DS's best friend at school is an identical twin (aged 8)and he has identical twin sisters (aged 5)! Their mum is amazing!
I wonder what the chances of that are...

One of the mums at ds's school fell with twins on her 3rd pregnancy - her other 2 are close in age as well, and both were under 3 at the time! I've always thought how fantastic it must be to have twins (although I know it's very hard work!), it's so special for them as they're growing up. I must say though I've never envisaged having them 3rd time round! But I would still be over the moon...

Greedy, it has crossed my mind about no 3 perhaps being left out with the ds's being so close... it just wasn't an option when they were little, and it was such hard work at the time (I had pnd when ds2 was small), that I don't think I'd have coped very well.

I always said I wanted to wait until the other 2 were at school so I could really enjoy my 'last' baby. I don't drive, so we were stuck in a lot of the time when they were small, as public transport is such a nightmare with a double buggy. I could get out a lot more with one baby, which will be good for avoiding pnd this time.
I guess if it's a girl this time, there won't be such a risk of being left-out, as she would have different interests anyway. And I'm hoping the ds's being older will make them more likely to 'mother' a baby.
If it's a boy it'll have more in common with them... I dunno really, I'm mulling it over but tbh it was never a real concern for me over the other factors... it's more a few people I've met or what people have said on here over the last couple of years that has made me think of it. It'll prob be more on my mind when I finally get pg!

I'm a TA in a primary school btw, good luck Minxi and Mellow, it's fab! I do 20 hrs a week, 4 mornings and 1 full day (term time obv. which is ideal for the boys).

I think it is pretty rare to have twins?
I wonder what the % is each year- how many born from natural conception (not IVF).

I have just applied for job as teaching asssitant as ds1 school. DS2 starts nursery their in September. The job was for 15 hours per week and application were to be in today. I am a little bit nervous now, for some reason!!

I know feel the same about going back to work but not the same job.
There is a job vacant at my son's school doing 3 mornings a week - 9 hours in total, which would be lovely as my ds2 starts there in september and he is at montessori in the mornings at the mo, so undecided whether to go for it... but would be quite nice I know somebody who is going for it...so feel don't want to tread on their toes and also experience except I am on the pta and I stepped into the the chair role last year to organise the christmas fayre in Nov which raised just under 5k so not too bad have shown my organisational skills to the max! Applications have to be in by Monday so scouting address book to see if anyone knows about teaching assistants!

I love being at home. Perhaps thats a little reason why i want no.3. Otherwise people might think i should get a job when DD goes to school........yikes!........
Ideally I want to work from home. I am currently doing a ceramics course which is cool, also have been writing on and off since had DD (more off than on at the moment though)- hoping to pick it up when DD goes to school in september. I found it easy to write when she was a baby- didnt always want me to play polly pocket then!
