Thought I would create a fresh thread as the original had been going since Feb. This is for anyone TTC #1, a bit of moral support as we all attempt to embark on the scary journey that is parenthood! Join us if you are a mix of terrified and excited, don't really know what you're doing yet and hadn't heard of CM before you started reading Mumsnet!!

Hi user! You sound a lot like me at the start of all this. I had no idea what was going on or how anything worked in my own body and it drove me insane. Two and a half months down the line I'm starting to understand a bit I think. Opks are good but temping is helping me with it too - have you looked at basal body temping? Or using an app to help you keep track? It was all gobbledegook at first but it's helping me control the nutty inside and try to understand it.

Hi Pyjamas, I've not been on birth control, so I really have no idea! 🤔
Eva30, I just started POAS as soon as I got them, because I have such irregular periods, it was after a period, I was getting the gooey stuff, so thought what the hell! I've read that positive ovulation resultscan mean you're already pregnant, but I think I'm just wishful thinking that this is what's happening to me!! I have to buy the CB kit, I couldn't stand wondering with the others, is there a line there or isn't there!! I'm driving myself crazy enough Grin

Eva30 · 22/07/2016 05:37

Welcome user
I've got the CB ready to use but I thought you only start using it in the run up to when you think you'll ov? So my cycle is 30 days so I start POAS cd10? I guess it could get very expensive POAS every day with CB as they're not cheap!

Pyjamas81 · 21/07/2016 23:31

Hi user - welcome! Yep, that's me in day 9 of flashy face - no idea why! My cycles are just getting back into the swing of things after coming off birth control so maybe I'll ovulate later than planned, or not at all, who knows! You may be experiencing the same issue with irregular cycles, AF may be later this month! Hope you get that static soon Smile

user1469131534 · 21/07/2016 22:55

Hi all, very new here. TTC #1
I just read someone saying they had the flashing smiley face for 9days. I didn't even know that's possible, I've had it flashing at me for 3 days and I've no idea what to make of it Confused
I'm due on soon (I think, very irregular cycle) I've had a small bit of blood, but doesn't feel like my period. This stuff is soooo hard to figure out! Can you ovulate this close to your period?

Eva30 · 21/07/2016 21:57

White gloss (practical for when hopefully dc1 arrives!), oak work tops, silver handles, built in fridge freezer induction hob etc. I'm so excited because we took the old grotty kitchen out last weekend and have been living off BBQ's and takeaways since, not good healthy eating for TTC!

BusyNothings · 21/07/2016 21:43

As far as I know but that's not far lol

Ooh what's the new kitchen like?

Eva30 · 21/07/2016 21:23

Oh I haven't been waiting it that sense, got to keep all those swimmers activeWink
I'm still doing the reno on the house so plenty to keep me busy, new kitchen going in this weekend. Then off on hols the weekend after.
I asked this on the other TTC thread but got no answers, do you know if it's OK for men to take antihistamines when TTC?

BusyNothings · 21/07/2016 21:01

Why wait eva Wink lol

I understand what you mean though. You got anything to distract yourself with?

Eva30 · 21/07/2016 20:47

haha!Grin at least we've still got a sense of humour over this TTC malarkey!! I'm on cd6 and bored of waiting for my FW

Pyjamas81 · 21/07/2016 19:58
Grin
BusyNothings · 21/07/2016 19:33

Haha pj you are my kind of woman!

Pyjamas81 · 21/07/2016 19:21

Omg that is such a genius idea lol or something much ruder on the head bahahahaha

BusyNothings · 21/07/2016 19:13

Maybe draw little horns where the face is might make you smile when you have to deal with the little bastard

Pyjamas81 · 21/07/2016 19:01

Ovia telling me test day is in 10 days so 31st July, and AF allegedly due on 2nd Aug, but it was a week early last time so who the hell knows!

Flashing smiley actually looks like it's taunting me every morning - @sshole!

BusyNothings · 21/07/2016 18:54

Lol bloody cocky smiley face teach him whose boss! Do you know when your test date should be roughly?

Pyjamas81 · 21/07/2016 18:43

Hurrah busy - even if it's a squinter, it's nice to know that at least something is happening!

Day 9 of flashy smiley face for me - going to dropkick that damn f*%$#!g smiley face soon. Just did cheapie OPK - still a line (pic below), not positive but not a squinter either (which it is at other times of cycle). Oh well - am just carrying on and seeing what happens! Not ruling myself out for a BFP!

First time TTC - thread 2
BusyNothings · 21/07/2016 18:13

Still a squinter today but at least it's still there!

Pyjamas81 · 20/07/2016 23:03

Ooooo love the babygrow lemon! And fingers crossed for your BFP Smile Know what you mean about just wanting to lie in bed naked and not do much else - it was allegedly my fertile week this week and couldn't feel less like dtd!

Bet the line gets darker soon busy Smile

BusyNothings · 20/07/2016 22:52

Ooooooh fingers crossed lemon! That babygrow is ridiculously cute.

I don't have a plan to tell dh. I think it will be a phone call or me screaming loudly and dreaming out a bit lol.

I might have a squinter OPK but not sure if I'm seeing things. Think I'm losing my mind.

Lemon27 · 20/07/2016 22:45

Hi all....another one here for being too hot to do anything except lie naked in bed and let the breeze (if any) float in the windows and cool you down!!! Last 3 nights I've swatted away DH...feel a bit bad actually haha but I just can't! I've no idea around this month....we DTD a good bit earlier in the month, but I think we were a week too late but then again I only had ovulation discharge (sorry I can't remember the acronym for it!!!!) last week so kinda not sure where anything is date wise....I'm not using ovulation sticks.

I had a weird jabbing pain that felt it was from my right ovary on monday and a feeling like I was coming on my AF (to the point I felt when I went to the loo id see id started early...but I think that could be also the fact I was a sweaty Betty this week Hmm

Anyway AF due around this weekend or early next week I think so wait and see. I was in boots earlier and bought my second ever pregnancy test box (first one was a couple of years ago when I spent a week feeling ghastly and convinced myself I was preggers but turned out I had some weird viral infection)! So positive thinking! And oh....I ordered this on Amazon as I plan to give to DH to tell him if/when we get a BFP as we are big into GOT and I thought it was brill!!!

www.amazon.co.uk/House-Sleepless-Nights-Nappies-Unisex/dp/B00K15SDO4

So between this and the tests I've bought I'm hoping I get to use them soon!

I love reading everyone's entries even if I don't post often, it's nice to feel you're not the only one at this stage x

Pyjamas81 · 20/07/2016 19:31

The instructions for the ones I've been using from the pics below say that it should be later in the day (but not after drinking too much water), the digi ones say test FMU - hope that helps!

You're right, first month down! Onwards Smile

BusyNothings · 20/07/2016 19:22

I've not done opks for two days I keep meaning to and then forgetting. Do you think it matters if you do them later in the day?

First month down just keep swimming pj lol that's what I keep telling myself

Pyjamas81 · 20/07/2016 19:03

Thanks busy Smile disappointing as this is the first month we've properly tried!

Hope you have a smoother ride when your fertile week puts in an appearance!

BusyNothings · 20/07/2016 19:00

Keeping fingers crossed pj!
