Anyone done or doing Clomid/ovidrel/IUI?

Would love to hear from anyone taking this route ttc. I'm DOR and dh has low morphology but an amazing count and motility. So whenever af shows up in two weeks or so I'm starting Clomid, then doing a hcg trigger injection and then IUI. Hoping for success getting 2-3 good eggs to drop and putting the swimmers practically next to them!

It's very annoying. Given we're having problems conceiving and what we have to go through with treatment, taking a pill a day is really not very much to ask. Could you put it like that and guilt trip him a bit? Or maybe it's just remembering - I use an app called medisafe which gives me reminders for my various supplements. My OH is really good with supplements and he needs to drink a whole pint of proxeed morning and night, so I'm pleased I don't need to nag about that. I can't get him to do any exercise though. I feel awful because he's stopped cycling which he loved because of the effect on sperm morphology but now he doesn't do anything else! I've started running twice a week, and once suggested we go together and he looked at me like I'd just suggested we both voluntarily cut our arms off. Hmm

Genghis, I didn't ask but will ask at my scan on Monday now that we have the sperm results. There are conflicting views online. At my appointment, the consultant just said to have intercourse within 48 hours of the trigger - no specific timings but I'll see if she changes that view in light of the SA.

maplebaby · 03/06/2016 09:38

Genghis I struggle too and he does miss a day or 2 regularly - he rolls his eyes whenever I hand them to him and complains about it smelling and tasting like an oxo cube! I think he also feels like he doesn't need them but he takes them to shut me up haha!

Hooray Snow - I was very excited to read your update. It must feel rather surreal. Everything is crossed for you that it works, and that the 2ww flies in! What a great sample from your DH (if someone told me 18 months ago that I'd be congratulating people on their 'samples' I'd never have believed them!) Do you think you'll poas before the beta? (I already plan to!)

Ha ha Maple that was a slightly unfortunate but very funny word omission! I've really struggled to get DP to take supplements and totally forgot to ask the Dr the last time I was there (was my plan presuming he'd say yes). I finally got him to take Vit C but even that has gone out the window now..

Star if your DH has low count, I wonder will your Dr suggest eod for your timed intercourse? Did you end up asking? By the way, that's great news about the motility improvement. Monday's nearly here...(even if it feels like ages away)

Snowdog37 · 02/06/2016 18:40

We only took the expensive supplement as dh morph was pretty dire but his counts were awesome (320million, only 1% normal though) so our dr wants him to really boost the count/motility and keep it high so there's a high number of normal sperm if you see what I mean. It's worked well for us as his morph had improved slightly and his counts remain awesome. They said 37 million motile post wash was very good indeed. So we are happy to keep taking the supplements with such good results.

What is going on with my typos I meant morphology!

maplebaby · 02/06/2016 18:26

Star he had slightly low morpholopppgy in first sample but normal (after taking wellman) for the second so I'm def sticking with wellman! I think if proxeed has worked for him to stick with it?

star1980 · 02/06/2016 17:56

maple, has your partner had a sperm analysis done? If all' normal there then I don't think there's any need for additional pricey supplements, just eating well and staying active should maintain things. Guess you just want the best sample possible on iui day!

star1980 · 02/06/2016 17:53

Oh wow snow, that is awesome!! 37million motile! I agree, this has to work surely! Can I ask how long ago you dtd before the sample? My OH suddenly has low count (11million Sad but his motility has gone up (from 18% to 39%) after 4 months on proxeed. I'm tempted to try fertilsan M now given your experience but probably shouldn't switch one expensive supplement for another when it does seem to be working.
All the very best for the next two weeks. I have my fingers tightly crossed for you. Let us know when you test!!

Snowdog37 · 02/06/2016 17:00

I got Fertilsan M for him and he's been on it 2 months now. I really think it helps. It's expensive but our dr recommended it as a great supplement to boost count and motility which we needed to do as his morphology is pretty bad. Now his count is higher we have more decent morph to play with.

Sounds great! Does DH take any supps? Mine is just on well man conception!

Snowdog37 · 02/06/2016 16:42

I can't remember all the stats but they said overall 43% motility with a post wash motile count of 37 million. Apparently it was a stellar sample. She also said I had excellent clear fertile mucus so that all looked good.
I have no idea how I'm going to keep myself busy the next two weeks! I'm scheduled for a beta on June 16th.

OP posts:
maplebaby · 02/06/2016 16:36

Yay snow! Wowzer 37 million!!! Do they tell you other stats too?

It is a wonder why it wouldn't work! Have they given you a day to test? Hope tww doesn't drag (although I'm sure it will!) do you have things to keep you occupied until then?

Snowdog37 · 02/06/2016 16:22

sperm not sorry

Snowdog37 · 02/06/2016 16:22

The bun making ingredients are all in the oven! It was uncomfy but not painful. Just have to wait two weeks now (and not go crazy). Dh did awesomely: 37 million motile sorry after the wash!!!!! How can this not work?!?

OP posts:
star1980 · 02/06/2016 15:50

Omg snow this is nerve-wracking even for me and I'm not even there! Really hope you get over 5 million good swimmers. Gosh, I'm so fascinated by the process - it's so intricate, how can it not work?! I CANNOT imagine going in with my OH while he jizzed into a pot. No way! Good on Mr. Snow producing the goods.
Thanks for keeping us updated, good luck with the next bit!
Oh and so sorry about those cramps, they sound intense. I haven't experienced any effects at all so far. Possibly night sweats but I get those anyway so can't tell if it's anymore than usual. Today is my last Clomid pill so maybe I'll start to feel some effects from tomorrow. Or maybe since I'm only on 50mg, it might not be quite strong enough. Anyway, we'll see...

Snowdog37 · 02/06/2016 15:27

Lmao maple he succeeded in providing. Just have to wait and see what they counts etc are and then do IUI! Hopefully in the next half hour! Still nervous lol 😖😜😖😜

OP posts:
maplebaby · 02/06/2016 15:10

Omg I meant "come on mr snow" not "come mr snow" (although that's very apt in the situation he is currently in)!!!

maplebaby · 02/06/2016 15:08

Come Mr snow you can do it! Grin
Excited for you both! I always get bored when I have bum on pillow at home (always end up browsing mumsnet!), can't imagine it being very relaxing in the clinic!! Presume DH can keep you company!

Snowdog37 · 02/06/2016 14:52

Sat at the clinic a paranoid mess lol. This is way more nerve wracking than I thought, waiting for dh to provide the goods!

OP posts:
Snowdog37 · 02/06/2016 12:29

Heading over there in an hour! My dh is nervous that he won't be able to produce the goods 😜 I really hope he can. They have a wide selection of interesting websites and DVDs he can choose lol. Or I can go in with him. But weirdly I think he'd do better without me there. Then we wait an hour for them to wash and prep the goods. Praying for over 5 million post wash with decent motility. Then it's feet in stirrups time for me! I had such cramping yesterday in scared I missed ovulation. Hopefully not! They said if I had to take pain relief to make sure it didn't contain ibuprofen or aspirin. Only acetaminophen (paracetamol). The others mess with implantation and lining. I braved through it as I don't want to risk anything at this late stage but I won't lie, it was painful at times. If ovulation happens later today (as predicted by the dr) it'll be just as painful, maybe more so as the follies have clearly been growing! Once the goods are deposited, they lay me with butt raised on the bed for 20-30 minutes to chill (nap! I hardly slept last night from excitement!) and then I can go on my merry way. I'm really excited but also really trying to fight the feeling that it's not going to work. Positive mental attitude is tough! I'll let you know when I've got all the bun making ingredients ready in the oven!

maplebaby · 02/06/2016 08:44

Oh snow were you allowed to take anything for the cramps? Thinking of you today! Check in with us when you can!

star1980 · 02/06/2016 07:41

Good luck snow! Let us know how it goes Smile

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 02/06/2016 02:50

Good luck Snow! Fx it works the first time..

Snowdog37 · 01/06/2016 23:56

Holy mackerel the cramps and pukey feeling post-hcg trigger are bad! Hoping all is well for IUI in the morning! I'm not going to complain but this isn't a very pleasant experience lol. A little taster of early pregnancy perhaps?! Plus I had to take a 2.5hr nap today. They warned me I'd feel bad but I'm happy I am, it means everything is working! Hoping my little follicles get a nice boost ready for meeting the swimmers tomorrow 😄
