Anyone done or doing Clomid/ovidrel/IUI?

Hi ladies, sorry I haven't been updating. I've been following everyone's posts, everything crossed for you all.

On 4 dpo of cycle 3 of Clomid 50mg. Waiting to see if anything this month. I'm being referred to a gyne after this if it doesn't work but there is a two month wait to see the private gyne!! I'm hoping my GP will prescribe another few months of the 50mg. Maybe I should take nothing for a bit but it would feel like going backwards.

DH and I feel the same way Thomasina - trying so hard not to get our hopes up, but its hard not to get excited now that things are moving. Rang the NHS booking line and asked them not to send me an appointment until November, that way the NHS appointment will coincide with the end of these 3 IUI cycles (and hopefully we won't need it then).

So, if anyone has seen me on other threads, they will know I a big advocate of the distraction technique re TTC and especially the TWW - well I now have the biggest distraction, DH spotted a house which we be our ideal home so it's all guns blazing now to see if we can afford it, whether we can sell our current home etc. Definitely think i need to find a cheaper method of trying to counteract the TTC stress

Snowy and Star, the clinic is open all weekend so it's not a problem. Would be a huge waste of money if they didn't open at the critical times! Regarding timing, I think they will book in the IUI once I get a positive OPK test (V rarely happens for me); if I don't get one by Friday then they will do a blood test to confirm LH levels. At that point I think they book in the IUI on either Saturday or Sunday. Saturday is CD13 and I usually ovulate on day 13 so hopefully it will be then. DH and I are both really excited (feels good to be doing something positive towards TTC) but worried about getting my hopes up then getting a BFN again.

I see snow, they must measure it in different units in the States as here we're looking for progesterone over 30 to confirm ov. Hope you're ok and looking forward to the next cycle with injectables.

Thomasina, glad the scan went well. How will they time iui? Is it as soon as you get a surge they get you in? Good luck for the weekend. Oh and snowy, I'm pretty sure private clinics operate through the weekend for time crucial procedures. Probably nhs too as it would be a huge waste of money to do injectables say and then not iui on the best day because it fell on a Sunday.

I would keep the nhs appointment whilst doing the private treatment snowy. You don't want to go to the back of the queue again and it'll take a few months before they do anything with you. Also, since you're doing.natural cycle you wouldn't even have to tell them if you didn't want as nothing you're doing will affect any tests.

Thomasina will the IUI still go ahead if it's over the weekend? It's something I have been wondering about as I usually ovulate over the weekend.

So after 8 long months, my NHS letter finally came. I don't want to stop with the private treatment as the ball is already rolling, but does anyone know if I give up my place with NHS can I get back on the waiting list if I need to?

Hi all. So just had the scan (today is CD 10) which showed one follicle measuring 17.5 and a nicely thickening lining. We are doing unmedicated IUI so only the one follicle. Dr predicts I will ovulate on Saturday or Sunday and told me to start doing OPKs from tomorrow. He will do a blood test on Friday if I don't get a positive OPK. Fingers crossed! Snow, that's so weird - you still had follicles yesterday I agree best to keep dtd just in case. It's been such a weird cycle, maybe it's odd enough to be the one! Will you move onto injectables now since you've done three clomid rounds? What is p4?

Thomasina, good luck with your scan today. And wow, what a count! We have male factor issues so I can only dream of such a count (latest one was just 11mil ) With a count like that though, you must wonder how much of an advantage iui actually gives you on top of well timed intercourse?

Surely your scan should have showed that as well snowdog - I'd be pretty annoyed with whoever was doing the scan

Snowdogs, why do you abstain for 48 hours before the IUI? To get the best sperm? DH has a ridiculously high sperm count (260 million) so wondering if we need to refrain at all. Maybe just the night before would be sensible. As you said, don't want to waste any opportunities this week!

Just had a thought. Does anyone know if you are supposed to refrain from DTD the night before a transvaginal scan? Just occurred to me that there could be er, leftovers, from the night before up there. Very embarrassing. Would be a shame to miss a night though at such a critical time.

Just ask them when you are in tomorrow, they should be able to tell you. My doc may jut use OPK's as a back up to scans

Snowy, I am going in for a scan tomorrow. I thought from the scan that the dr can tell when you will ovulate? There was also mention of a blood test if they weren't sure. I really hope it won't come down to me doing OPK as I am sure I will miss it!

AF will def arrive this month - when I had consultation scan last Tuesday they were able to tell me I had already ovulated that month, 2 days earlier than expected. I had been on holidays so hadn't been using OPK's or anything and then the last few days of hols we were staying in a hotel with no aircon and it was 35 degrees out, suffice to say neither DH or I felt like DTD, so we have no chance of a BFP this time.

Thomasina I would assume you will have to OPK because without a trigger I don't see how else it could be timed, but then I'm not a doctor so what do I know. I have a planning meeting Friday week so I am going to ask about the possibility of using trigger even though I am unmedicated or else ask what is the best OPK to use

Hi everyone. Thanks Star, we didn't want to wait any longer given that I am now 40 and DH is 46. Really have the feeling that we are running out of time and that is may not happen for us. Kicking ourselves for not TTC earlier. We just assumed it would happen straight away as I conceived within a few months with both my DCs and so did DH. Never occurred to us we would struggle this time. We are trying unmedicated IUI initially as I am ovulating normally so no point taking clomid/having trigger shot. I would also prefer to keep it as natural as possible and really really do not want multiples so not sure we would use clomid. Reckon we'll try this 3 times and see what happens.

Snowy, will they expect me to use OPK to tell when I ovulate as I am rubbish at using them! The colour ones seem to work much better than the ditigal one (I never seem to get a happy face) but I struggle to do them at the right time as am at work etc and always forget about not weeing for 4 hours before. I can usually pinpoint ovulation to a couple of days but find it harder to get more specific although last month I did temping for the first time which I found amazingly revealing and enabled me to work out when I had ovulated. I also find checking cervical muscus test very difficult.

Star thanks, I'm on CD9 according to hospital but CD16 if I go by AF!! I read follies can grow 2mm a day so hopefully I'll have an 18mm on Friday! And thicker lining.

Fingers crossed for you this month! I think I would have shagged too if I had been in your position. I think multiples would be unlikely (maybe twins) anyway so hoping for a singleton for you!

Welcome thomasina - good luck for your iui. I thought they always triggered when they did IUI so they know when to time it. I'm not doing iui, but last cycle I didn't trigger (as I couldn't get hold of it) and read a thing that said that your LH surge starts at about 8am and by midday there's enough in your system for an opk to read it. If that's true, I guess they can time things pretty closely if you let them know when your opk first went positive. And well done on getting going on treatment so quickly. I first wen to the GP at 8 months, go referred at 10 months and had my first consultant appointment at 14 months trying. Only just started treatment (Clomid) 2 months ago after 18 months trying - it's so depressing how long this is taking.

Hey maple, that sounds like a good scan. Seems like your follicles grow more slowly than mine - I've heard that's a good thing as better quality eggs if they grow more slowly. Usually by day 10 I have an 18mm and they tell me to trigger. Fingers crossed for 2 or 3 nice big follicles by Friday - what will you be then? Day 12? 4.6mm would a bit thin if you were about to trigger but as your follicles grow, your lining grows, I think you want it to be about 8mm by the time of IUI so plenty of time.

snowy hope your period doesn't arrive at all! Or if it must, hoping it doesn't throw out your iui/exam timing!

As for me, I am 1dpo today. Had 4 follicles on cd10 and went ahead with timed intercourse against the advice of the hospital . Triggered on cd12 and dtd cd12 and cd14. Hoping I've done enough. I read loads of threads where people with 4 follicles went ahead and ended up with no pregnancy or just a singleton. Obviously there were also those who ended up with multiples. Anyway, trying to ignore everything now for the next two weeks!
