Anyone done or doing Clomid/ovidrel/IUI?

Would love to hear from anyone taking this route ttc. I'm DOR and dh has low morphology but an amazing count and motility. So whenever af shows up in two weeks or so I'm starting Clomid, then doing a hcg trigger injection and then IUI. Hoping for success getting 2-3 good eggs to drop and putting the swimmers practically next to them!

"separately".

Thomasina76 · 22/08/2016 18:17

Hi all. Sorry to hear about AF's arrivals for you guys too. Such a shame. Friends, thank you for your advice. I did do a OPK at 3pm that day and didn't get a smiley face but not sure I had left it long enough since my last wee. I felt strongly at the time that we did the IUI 1 day too late. I usually ovulate on day 13 which would have been the Saturday so the egg could have been gone by Sunday at 11am.

As for next steps, we are on holiday next week so will miss the next cycle then I think we may try another IUI but with a different clinic as the one we are at seems hugely expensive. Spoke to DH about it and I think we will just keep going with IUIs for as long as we can afford it. Decided we don;t want to do IVF and won't do clomid due to risk of multiples so it's really IUI or nothing. Have sort of resigned myself to it not happening. Not sure I can face going back to nappies and extreme sleep deprivation anyway so maybe it's just not meant to be.

Separarately, has anyone tried Fertilaid??

Good luck to all those mid cycle and hugs to those who AF has visited.

snowy1982 · 22/08/2016 11:19

Using CB maple, same ones i have always used.

Enjoy your cycle off snowdog i think its good to do that every once in a while to let the body decompress and the stress levels to return to normal.

Oh, and PS, my exam was sh!t - but at least its over now and TTC and trying to sell my house are the only things i have to worry about (i don't half put myself under too much pressure :))

Snowdog37 · 22/08/2016 10:57

Sorry I've been mia a bit. I finally got af on cd37. What a freak of a cycle that was. Not sure my body likes Clomid, it looked like an anovulatory cycle after all despite two 5 day sessions on Clomid. I needed Prometrium to bring on af. I'm sitting this cycle out now to let my body recover from all the extra hormones. Then it'll be on to the injectables and hopefully a much better response.
Hopefully all your cycles are going better than mine did! Good luck to those with IUI coming up 🍀

Thomasina sorry AF got you Flowers whats the next step for you?

Snowy how often are you doing the OPKs and are you using ics or cb?

How are you doing friends??

AF arrived on Saturday for me - silver lining is I only had one day of really light spotting which is unheard of! Usually have almost a week of it. Have a scan booked in for 12:15 today and if all is well then I can start on injectibles this cycle!

snowy1982 · 22/08/2016 10:36

How's everyone else getting on?

snowy1982 · 22/08/2016 10:35

So, went back for another scan this morning. Follicle is now 21mm and lining is apparently perfect. They did a blood test and depending on results of that they may give me a trigger and then we will do IUI on Wednesday

snowy1982 · 21/08/2016 15:17

Hey ladies, still waiting on positive OPK result, if I don't get it by tomorrow I have to go back for another scan. Am getting concerned that I may have missed it, doc said he would be very surprised if I didn't have IUI over the weekend. Can OPK's miss the surge?

friends123 · 19/08/2016 21:08

Hi all,
Good luck Snowy, I hope your timings workout for you over the weekend.

Thomasina,
I'm so sorry about what you have been through over the past few days. I hope your bearing up? Do you chart your temp? They normally say within 24 hours but if you only using the test once a day, I think it's possible to be getting the last of the surge the next day, therefore you would ovulate pretty quick after the positive. I think that happens to me quite often. I know when I've ovulated because I get a surge of creamy cm ( sorry tmi ) that normally happens to me before my temperature rises.Did you take the test in the morning too? If you had a positive on Friday then I would of thought the best time for IUI would of been the Saturday morning?

Thomasina76 · 19/08/2016 12:41

Hi all. Well, AF arrived today, 2 days early as she wasn't due until Sunday. I think this may mean we got the timing for the IUI wrong as we did it on the Sunday (i.e. 2 weeks ago this Sunday) despite the fact that I usually ovulate on day 13 which would have been the Saturday. I think I must have ovulated early on the Saturday and maybe by the time we did the IUI at 11am on Sunday, the egg had gone. I did ask the dr about timing as I was worried we were doing it a day too late so a bit peed off. Our timing would have been better without the IUI! Weird though as I only got the smiley face from the OPK on Friday at 6pm. What is the shortest time in which you ovulate after getting a smiley face?

maplebaby · 18/08/2016 19:24

Ahh ok my clinic / hospital isn't open on the weekend so I wish I had got a trigger and done it! Hope you get the positive on Saturday then!

snowy1982 · 18/08/2016 19:15

Maple I hope I get the positive OPK on Saturday, means I do IUI on Sunday and neither DH or myself have to arrange time out of work for it

maplebaby · 18/08/2016 17:58

Snowy good luck! I had a 22mm follicle on a Friday and didn't get a positive opk until Sunday.

Thomasina sorry for the bfn - there could still be a chance if AF doesn't show. I had 3 follies - a 22, 15 and 14. They wouldn't do IUI with any more than 3 though. I didn't trigger as too late so I don't know how many of them would have actually been "released"!

Thomasina76 · 18/08/2016 17:07

Urrgh - did HPT this morning and very clearly negative. Not even the faintest line. Gutted but suspected that would be the case so am not surprised. Clearly it takes 11/12 days for 250 shot of ovitrelle to clear my system. At least I know for next time. I am now 11 DPO and IUI so just have to sit and wait for AF to turn up. DH and I talking about options next step. Guess the IUI was v unlikely to work first time and we need to do it at least once or twice more. Just wish we knew what the problem was, other than just being old. If it's just age then surely we would have one good egg in 10 months but it seems not.

Good luck Snowy and Maple. Maple, how many eggs did you produce with clomid? We said we would never use clomid due to risk of multiples but we may need to reconsider.

snowy1982 · 18/08/2016 12:25

So had my scan this morning, follicle measures 16mm so seems I am going to ovulate early, most likely over the weekend. Dr says if I don't get a positive OPK by Sunday, to ring and get another scan arranged

maplebaby · 18/08/2016 08:41

Hi thomasina I would try a frer - not sure what you have been using so far - were they ics or CB? I didn't have the trigger in the end so can't advise unfortunately!

I have no news! I'm 10dpiui and had some lower back ache this morning but that's it - easily an AF sign so not keeping hopes up! Silver lining is that so far I think the clomid has stopped or delayed my spotting I usually get - I suspect it might be because I released more than one egg so there was more progesterone!

Thomasina76 · 17/08/2016 14:33

Hi all. Well the confusion continues. Did another HPT yesterday (around midday not using morning wee which was silly) and got another very very very faint line, so faint it's barely there. Think it was fainter than the one on Monday. Yesterday was 10 days post trigger/ 9 days post ovulation and IUI. Pretty sure it was just the last of the trigger shot and that if I test tomorrow it will be negative (not testing today as have drunk about 2 litres of water and cranberry juice to try to fend off a bout of cystitis) BUT I thought I would check with consultant. Very weird as his advice is that it is very unlikely to be the trigger shot and more likely to be early stages of pregnancy. He said trgiger out within 48 hours?? Seems inconsistent with everything I have read on google re trigger shot staying in your system for up to 10 -14 days (10 seems most common). No idea what to think but assuming the worse and that this is all just getting my hopes up only to be dashed again. Guess I will find out tomorrow when I test.

How is everyone else getting on? Maple??

Thomasina76 · 15/08/2016 18:02

Thanks Maple. Am pretty sure it's a line but just not sure if it's the HCG shot or a genuine BFP. Now thinking that if I did the trigger shot on 6th August at 10am then it's in fact 9.5 days since then, right?

maplebaby · 15/08/2016 17:42

Oh I have no idea! Could you try a FRER?? The pink ones are meant to be more accurate / more sensitive!

Thomasina76 · 15/08/2016 16:42

Ok, so, for some insane reason I just did a pregnancy test. I think, but am not sure, there is a very very faint line. It's a clear blue test. AF is due on Sunday so I am only 8 DPO and the test is 6 days before AF is due. I had an Ovitrel (sp?) shot last Saturday so this is 9 days later. Could it just be the remnants of the HCG shot?

maplebaby · 15/08/2016 16:02

Thomasina yeh she was digging around for ages down there!

Yep I'm due to test Monday - although if I haven't started spotting then I might cave and test on the weekend!

I'm so pessimistic - I think it's partly self preservation - that way if I get a bfn then I can say to myself "I told you so!" But also I've never had a bfp before and the stats for success are so low I can't help be negative about it all!

Thomasina76 · 15/08/2016 15:43

Hey Maple! I also had an UTI and reckon it was due to all the poking around down there. Seems to be cured now. So is your AF due next Monday? Awful that we are so pessimistic! Had I not had 9 BFNs then I might be more hopeful :)

maplebaby · 15/08/2016 14:06

Sorry forgot to say yes I'm in London but moved out to zone 5 at the beginning of the year from zone 2. I got to acupuncture near my house.

maplebaby · 15/08/2016 14:05

Thomasina no symptoms! Been getting twinges in lower back and also abdomen but I'm not reading in to it as they started so early (about 4dpo)! Putting it down to gas! Grin Also went to the docs worried I might have a uti in Friday as I kept needing the loo but test came back negative but again - too early to be a symptom - the IUI might have just aggravated something down there!
I'm not testing till I'm due either - I usually spot for 5-7 days before AF so expecting that to start soon anyway.
I can't stand the disappointment either!!

Thomasina76 · 15/08/2016 13:15

Sorry to hear that Snowdog. I hate those tests so much. No arguing with them!

Maple, do you have any signs at all? My only "symptoms" are exhaustion (I feel tired all the time anyway so doesn't mean anything) and boobs hurt slightly. Not reading anything into it as I have had this before and meant nothing. AF due on Sunday so I am guessing the earliest I could test if Thursday or Friday. HCG shot should be out of my system by then as well. Will probably NOT test though as can't stand the disappointment. Think it is best to wait for AF. Marginally less crushing. Are you in London? Where are you going for acupuncture?
