Hi all

I thought I'd start the June bus as I'm getting impatient!

I'm 31 (for a bit longer anyway), TTC#1. DH and I agreed to start TTC in May, but won't be ovulating till about the 24th. ETD 8th June! Feeling terrified and excited at the same time.

Join me if you will! Smile

How early after ovulation are we allowed to symptom spot?

How crazy can we be?? Grin

Morning all!
Sorry to hear about AF Sakura... Nutella toast is well deserved! I don't do anything to increase my fertility at the moment other than a preconception vitamin when I remember ( and often I forget), and generally trying to eat well and do some exercise. Would be interested to hear what others do.

It doesn't surprise me that a GP doesn't know the significance of a short luteal phase, as I think most won't have done specific training in fertility issues, but funny looks don't help!

I'm frustrated this week as I've been using OVIA to track fertility and it unexpectedly changed the dates of my fertile week yesterday, so that instead of saying I was fertile from sun- thurs, it now says last Thursday to yesterday! This means we only DTD once in fertile week on day 5. We're still going to try every second day this week, but I could cry at the thought of having missed the boat again.

babydances · 25/05/2016 09:34

Hi princessplod! Sorry to hear that AF came sakura. Sad
I am curious as to how to increase chances of getting pregnant. It's only cycle 2 but I think my poor BF is feeling a little used as we've dtd almost every day and he said knowing its to get pregnant is quite offputting as we usually only dtd 2 times a week if that Confused

PrincessPlod · 25/05/2016 08:47

I'm due 2 or 3 June depending on if 28/29 cycle. We are trying for number 2 and have a 3yr old boy already.

Sakura03 · 25/05/2016 08:27

Mbire yeah when I initially had some tests done I asked my GP about the length of my luteal phase as at the time I worked it out to be 8-10 days but she just looked at me as if I was bonkers and told me not to worry. I would have preferred an explanation to the funny look she gave me!

Sakura03 · 25/05/2016 08:14

Morning everyone, AF got me, no surprise as I tested negative at the weekend but still upsetting never the lessSad. I've used clear blue dual hormone opks (purple) for 3 cycles now but wondering whether to stop using them, although I quite like seeing the flashy and then static smiley but they are expensive and I take ubiquinol to improve egg quality which are rather pricey too. To get over the arrival of AF I'm treating myself to coffee and brown toast with Nutella in CostaGrin
writer my dh has been very on/off with the ttc and we've had a couple of serious talks to the point where we nearly split up but in the end it all came out that dh was petrified that he might not be a good dad and he's calmed down and is on board.butterpuff hope today is better than yesterday!
I don't check my cervix, maybe I should... what do you guys do to improve your fertility? Anyone getting acupuncture?

Mbire · 25/05/2016 07:42

Hi girls,
So confused with the boots ovulation tests. Had been using clear blue and tended to get a positive on about day 18.
I do have a second pink line on my test (day18) but wit is blatantly not as dark as the original line. May it mean I'm close to ov or nowhere near ov?!
Also, I have told both the sonographer and my GP in the last week that I'm concerned that my lutheal phase is not long enough. Both seemed confused at the question and both said it was fine and not to worry. Then I come on here and it's one of the main topics! How can they be so aloof about something thAt seems to be an issue?!
I'm cd18 on cycle 10btw
Attaching a pic of ovulation test!! The more I look the more I think no😳

June Bus anyone?!

What a day butterpuff. Hope tomorrow is better. Dd also treated me to a bath poo today if that's any consolation!
Feeling really angry and frustrated with DH who refused my invitation to come to bed because he'd had a couple of drinks. Only a couple and four hours ago so I feel like he's trying to avoid my fertile time. He must know why I suggested it. He's out again on Thursday and Friday so that leaves tomorrow and as I've been turned down the last two nights I sort of feel like it might turn into nagging if I suggest tomorrow. We dtd on Sunday and at this rate we won't get a chance until next weekend so the likelihood of anything happening this month are looking slim. I'm not sure when I ovulate but as I've already had some promising looking cm I suspect next weekend will be too late.

MrsGsnow18 · 24/05/2016 22:45

Oh no Butterpuff, sounds like you've been having a hard time! Hopefully things will look up now!

I haven't a clue about checking cervix, see it on ovia app everyday but just don't think I'm ready to actually check everyday!
I tend to go by what I can just feel or anything I can see in my underwear. Not sure if this is as effective?

Butterpuff · 24/05/2016 21:51

Hi Turquoise, I hope joining the thread is good luck for you. Smile

What a day, poor Nan but Dd is a brilliant cheer bringer. Though she didn't help to start by throwing her porridge on the floor this morning smashing the bowl and then shat in the bath, oh and a screw in the non repairable bit of the tyre cost me £100. Time to wrap it up.

Having watched stalked these threads for months and months. I decided to take the plunge and join you lovely ladies.

He knows he is expected to home a lot over the bank holiday weekend but I don't think I've ever been obvious enough about when the FW is starting. When we first spoke about ttc he said he didn't want "loads of science" so I've tried not to make too much of tracking etc in front of him. I do agree, I don't want to be obsessive (hence holding off on OPKS for the moment). We have still managed to dtd more or less every other day though in my FW so no real complaints.

Great news about your friend.

Writerwannabe83 · 24/05/2016 20:45

Does he know it's your FW?

How often do you try and DTD during your FW?

I found out yesterday that a friend of mine is 12 weeks pregnant after going through two years of infertility investigations, procedures and then finally IVF. She's only 27 and she thankfully got pregnant on her first IVF cycle.

MizzisDee · 24/05/2016 20:39

DH is currently MIA on what I believe to be the first day of my FW. Supposed to be on his way home from two days away working but nothing since a non-comittal "should be on way soon" about two hours ago. Hmm

Writerwannabe83 · 24/05/2016 12:14

I don't examine my cervix so I have no idea what it's up to but sex was definitely not comfortable last night, it felt like I was being jabbed quite painfully.

babydances · 24/05/2016 11:07

writer if cervix is high and soft then it's a sign of FW. I too had stabbing pains when dtd this morning I'm putting it down to FW and my cervix is high and soft. Sorry to hear that butterpuff. Hope it goes ok. I am now back from our mini break and I only had one glass of wine to be on the safe side. This ttc stuff is not as easier as I always thought it would be. We've dtd most days since I finished my period and according to ovia I am 2 days into my FW and so trying to squeeze as many dtd as I can. However BF is probably thinking it's quite a surprise as in 11 days we've dtd 8 of those days Halo hahaha. Still not sure about my out of date implant that ran out nearly 9 months ago but withy my cervix being high and soft and open I'm hoping that can only mean one thing!

Writerwannabe83 · 24/05/2016 10:34

Oh butterpuff Sad Sad Flowers Flowers

FriendlyGhost · 24/05/2016 10:29

Sorry to hear that butterpuff Flowers
I think a day before ovulation is the perfect time writer because it gives the sperm time to get to the right place and ready to pounce on the egg when it's released. Fingers crossed it worked and that it's a sticky one.

Butterpuff · 24/05/2016 10:05

Sounds like we have similar DH writer mine wants then panics then wants. I can imagine he would be even more so if we had suffered a loss as it would really hit him. I hope you get back on the same page.

Interesting about cervix. I wish I had the patience to put all this information into practice! Maybe I will if we don't conceive right away.
I'm off for a sad day. Got to go round to see my lovely nana and tell her her sister has passes away. 😓

Writerwannabe83 · 24/05/2016 09:45

Thanks friendly - although I have just googled about cervical positioning and a low position means the cervix has closed after ovulation there TTC sex last night was pointless.

I thought that once ovulation occurred the egg could survive 24-48 hours but after reading about it it seems the egg can only survive for 12 hours before ovulating.

I had a really sharp pain in my right side on Sunday morning so I'm assuming that was ovulation and now I know about the short life span of the egg I'm now super gutted that we couldn't DTD that night. So all I have to rely on now is the one episode of sex we had the night before ovulation.

With my previous two pregnancies I conceived on cycle 1 but we were having a lot more sex during my FW.

FriendlyGhost · 24/05/2016 09:27

Glad you managed to get DH on board writer. Not sure about the pain but hopefully it means your body was ready to get pregnant. Sounds like you're in with a good shot!
Mine is the same butterpuff. Unfortunately I'm going to have to tell him I'm in my fw because it's completely mid week this cycle and we normally only dtd at weekends. He didn't get my hint last night about coming to bed early with me so I will have to spell it out.

Writerwannabe83 · 24/05/2016 09:22

butterpuff - that's why I was so confused by his reaction to possible pregnancy yesterday as it had been him who'd wanted to start TTC again straight after my miscarriage whereas I wasn't ready.

A few days ago he passed a comment about being happy with one child but then the next minute he's saying we should put all of DS's clothes in the loft in case we need them again.

I just think he's really conflicted. I get the impression he does want another child but can't bring himself to say it - it took me a good 8 months of regular discussions to get him to agree to TTC for DC2 as prior to that he was adamant he didn't want anymore.

The miscarriage hit him really hard and I do think he's worried about it happening again.

When I do get a BFP (whatever cycle it may be) I think I will keep it from him for quite a while and probably only tell him when I'm about 8 weeks as that's when I would feel in a comfortable stage that an early miscarriage was less likely.

Butterpuff · 24/05/2016 09:13

Maybe your Dh is just keeping himself grounded writer mine wouldn't cope with active trying FW, OPKs etc. though he was the one to suggest it was time to start trying again.

Writerwannabe83 · 24/05/2016 08:56

Can I ask a TMI question?

I hear people talking about their cervix being low and it being a good thing during the FW, does this make having sex more painful?

When we were DTD it was really uncomfortable, it felt like my cervix was being jabbed quite hard and it really hurt at some points to the extent I had to ask DH to stop.

Sunshineface123 · 24/05/2016 07:59

Poppydm this is my 5th cycle but I would say the first one didn't really count as weren't properly trying! Yes defo start with opks, I usually use them from cd10 as I ov quite late, they're good for helping you to u first and your cycle X
