Hi everyone

How did the bloods go purple?

I had my scan this morning and it's all cleared out now and healthy looking apparently which is a relief. V heavy bleeding still though. I keep feeling the urge to sit on the loo and push. I suppose is my uterus contracting back to size. I want it to stop so we can get back on the love train!!

Bruce Springsteen tonight!! So excited!!

purpleviolet1 · 03/06/2016 10:37

Its possible to supplement with iodine (you can apply to your wrists and it will go through the skin) to help thyroid. Apparently even if we don't have thyroid issues our diets are so nutrient poor and iodine is hardly present in anything so it's a useful thing to supplement with from time to time. Just a random update for you guys!

My gran is going in the right direction so have decided to go for our night away. Just left the house. Need to get my bloods taken at 11 (hopefully HCG should be back to zero or negative now). Then we shall be on our way!

jodiebee664 · 03/06/2016 08:50

good luck...and i agree how hard it is getting a docs appointment x

I have an underactive thyroid. Had it since birth so don't know what it's like to get it diagnosed as an adult but I really can feel it when it's out of whack. Sometimes a new GP will try to mess with the dosage because my blood tests will show medication is too high but then it goes too low and it takes ages to get right again. It does cause fertility problems and is associated with increased miscarriage risk

Hopeful hope you are ok xx

Agree with Miami re thyroid. I read a book about thyroid once and all the things it links into and how an imbalance can cause lots of issues but thyroid just isn't regarded as anything serious and is fairly easily treated X

Miami81 · 02/06/2016 22:32

Mrs I was reading something about thyroid and how it can be really hard to diagnose and it can have quite an impact on hormones and how they behave. May be worth a quick look into that too. I know it is really difficult and it can be traumatic but sometimes we have to push against the system. If you don't feel right in yourself and you don't believe the Clomid is tackling the correct problem then please pursue it. Another thing I read was that every egg is precious and we have to do everything we can to figure out how to give them the best fighting chance we can.
It can be really tough - maybe worth writing key points down to take with you??
I know it must be very frustrating. Big hugs to you. N xx

Yes I do think it's worth going back earlier. You won't get unless you try. And you have nothing to lose right? I agree with getting bloods done all throughout the cycle. How else can they tell that low progesterone is the issue?

Just over a year ago before we started to TTC, I used to suffer from vaginal dryness as well as the thrush and recurrent infections. I thought it was thrush but the gynaecologist tested it and said it wasn't. She thought the infections were causing irritation in that area and prescribed these pessaries called vagifem so I took a course of them. They then gave me replens which I use from time to time but generally it's lot better now. When I went to my GP to get a repeat prescription of replens she casually said in passing 'oh you have PCOS don't you' I was like what??!! Do I? She then left it in limbo and I got all stressed. My bloods had shown that I had high prolactin levels but everything else was ok. The prolactin had been raised both times they tested. I was in such a faff and saw another GP then who read the gynaecologists letter out to me which said 'I wonder if she has a mild form of pcos' that's quite different to a formal diagnosis! What im trying to say is don't lose hope, get as many tests done as you can and get a second opinion where possible. A lot of things are open to interpretation.

You are probably doing all this already but an interesting read

naturalfertilityandwellness.com/symptoms-of-low-progesterone/

purpleviolet1 · 02/06/2016 21:24

Aw Mrs don't feel like that. There must be natural ways to help progesterone surely? It can't be as simple as saying low progesterone = no family. I don't believe that for a minute. The fact that you know what the issue is , is actually a step towards success.

Ooh and it's one sided, I think it is!! Grin

BertieBotts · 02/06/2016 21:04

Does cramping mean ovulation? Like lower back cramps? I am cramping lots now!

purpleviolet1 · 02/06/2016 20:35

Can they not just give you progesterone pessaries? Ignore my ignorance lol I'm not sure how it all works... I was ok, and feeling quite good as I took a day off work tomorrow and we were hoping to go away tonight. We didn't book it as recently every time we have booked to go away mil has got really unwell and she is currently in hospital. We decided she was ok though and I just booked somewhere a couple of hours away that looked lovely. But just got a call from my mum who said my gran is quite unwell, she is in hospital and they think she has severe pneumonia, her blood pressure is low and she hasn't opened her eyes since this morning. She had an endoscopy yesterday and was ok after that but had an asthma attack this morning. They are going to do a CT scan now as they think they might have pinched something when they did the endoscopy yesterday.

I'm so worried for her and got a really bad feeling. Not sure I want to be 2.5 hours away in case anything happens. Waiting for an update and I might visit her tonight or tomorrow morning and then will decide from there.

Btw hope I don't sound forceful. It's not for everyone but just making you away of it in case you don't know about it!

purpleviolet1 · 02/06/2016 20:15

That's not good Mrs unsure. Have you seen the consultant since you started clomid? I don't know much about it to be honest. I would recommend the Geneva diagnostic tests I mentioned up thread if you are unsure what's generally happening with your cycles. Did you have cycle issues before miscarriage? I've not used the hormone test from Geneva but I had a stool test a couple of years ago which identified 16 types of bacteria. I was constantly suffering with thrush and infections and would regularly vomit every few weeks. The doctors weren't really that concerned but it started taking over my life. Once addressed it definitely improved things.

Have a read

You need to sign up with a practitioner though to be able to be tested I think.

It's so hard how there is no pattern isn't there..

I saw my urologist this morning (it was actually a different one who had taken over the clinics of the chaps I usually see). Anyway she was really helpful and she feels the recurrent urinary infections have contributed to the miscarriages especially the first one but potentially the second one also. She is going to refer me to antenatal now and work with them to get me on the correct antibiotics to take during pregnancy as a preventative measure. She said she has seen lots of cases like this who have gone on to have a family. She said without my spleen I'm more susceptible to infections as it is so it Makes sense that I need help with the immune issue. She will also ask them to investigate any other causes of miscarriages.

Not sure if she was all talk and whether anything will come of it but it felt good to have someone who was finally paying attention. Cautiously hopeful.

thank you ants I'm happy and want to get excited but am cautious too!

i know exactly what you mean as they said all the same to me - it was only when i cried that they offered the antibiotics! they also offered me a gynae appointment telling me to cancel if i didn't need it as these appointments 'are like gold dust' I had stopped bleeding by then but had the appointment anyway as I was expecting an expert to tell me what had happened to my body and what would happen next etc - pretty much all she said was 'oh you've had an mc...these things happen...everyone is different...you'll be fine, try again if you want to.' that one did feel like a waste of time.

good luck and i hope you get the help you need.

theAntsareMyFriends · 02/06/2016 12:31

8-9 weeks! I really will have lost it if I have to carry on bleeding for that long. I think I will call the hospital back but it just feels like a waste of time. When I go in (taking a day of precious annual leave and cancelling work commitments) I wait around for a few hours only to be told that it can be like this for some people, there is nothing they can do and there is no 'normal' MC. If I thought they would have anything useful to give me I would ring them like a shot but as I have my doubts I'm dithering about what to do.

jodie just noticed up thread that you have got a BFP. Congratulations.
