Yes picking up HCG from a new pregnancy was my concern! I think it's unlikely though, isn't it? What would they do if that was the case? I was worried that they might think that something was retained and give me methotroxate (or whatever it's called)... I might try to phone them and ask if I need to be jabbed or not. I don't like needles so if it's unnecessary I'd rather not. I know that they likely want me to wait for a period for dating reasons but DH was like "Well, can't we just... not try, but also not really prevent anything?" We did use a condom while the bleeding tapered off and just after as my cervix was feeling a bit odd. TBH, I haven't really been able to relax, get into and enjoy sex since, so I might wait until that comes back anyway.

They could see an empty, flat sac via ultrasound a few days after I started MC. I think I bled for about four or five days in all. It was just like a period for me.

I also wanted to ask - if it's okay - I'm having really vivid dreams like pregnancy dreams but they aren't normal/nice dreams, they are all horrible ones. Like I dreamt that we were driving along the motorway and suddenly we went up a bridge where there had been an explosion and I could see burnt skeletons sitting in their cars. And then I had one where I was visiting a house where I'd been as a baby and it was making me feel all wrong and sort of nostalgic but creepy and bad at the same time. And then one where I went to a pub with all of my friends and then some scary bouncers came and kicked me out (which sounds not that bad but it was horrible!) it's weird Confused

How are you cheeky??

HopefulKate1980 · 30/04/2016 17:29

Hi bertie sorry you are here but welcome. Considering how far along you were your levels should drop relatively quickly so I'd just use hpt and then as soon as you get a negative, hit the sack!!

jpeg and 5tardusty that sounds lovely! My fella is out at cricket and I've had my lashes done, bought a second hand bike and off to the gym shortly...

I still have TONS of EWCM so my sexy batsman better come home with lots of energy!! He has some work to do tonight!!

cheeky glad you find the thread! I felt exactly the same when I saw it had closed. I panicked!!

Xx

Yay glad you found us jpeg and Cheeky!

Welcome Bertie. I started ttc again as soon as the bleeding had stopped. Considered waiting for af but then for me just getting back at it helped me to move on rather than waiting around. You could always do both - test with HPTs for your own peace of mind but also get tested by the doctor in 2 weeks. It is possible in 2 weeks a blood test could pick up hcg with a new pregnancy if you ovulate immediately though. I ovulated about 3 weeks after my mc at 10/11 weeks. Can't remember when I first got a negative hpt. I had retained tissue until af though according to the ultrasounds.

Ordered a new 2 decimal place thermometer from Amazon which arrived on Weds and have used it since.

That sounds fab jpeg. I've been shopping on my own and loved it. DH out at football so just me, the pooch and netflix. Lovely!

jpeg28 · 30/04/2016 16:28

Ok glad I'm not being unfair! I have just got home after a lovely day getting hair done and shopping and whole house is clean... Wish it would stay like it!

bertie sorry for you loss and good luck TTC. I am pretty sure I ovulated about 4 weeks after my MC but everyone is different.

5tardusty · 30/04/2016 16:07

Hello bertie, i am just taking pregnancy tests every few days. I'm about ten days now since i passed the sac and my last hot was v faint. Hoping i'll ovulate soon.

I read recently that it's increased oestrogen that prevents ovulation, not HCG so hoping that my hormones have been low enough to allow my ovaries to do their thing

BertieBotts · 30/04/2016 14:12

Hi all, can I join?

DH and I started TTC in March and were pleased/surprised to get a BFP on the first cycle. However, it was a bit strange and faint and here in Germany, where we live, they do an ultrasound and take blood HCG levels at the first appointment. We were told that it was earlier than we had thought, so we thought OK I've just ovulated later for some reason. However, last weekend I started bleeding and it became clear that the pregnancy was ending, which was confirmed by another scan on Monday. I would have been somewhere around 4-6 weeks depending on whether you go by LMP or HCG levels. That's comforting in a way because I don't have a due date so (hopefully) I won't be thinking about it when the time comes around.

I felt okay about the mc. Disappointed but not devastated. DH has a balanced translocation so we knew it was a chance and I don't think I really got into the mode of expecting a baby, so I don't feel like I lost one. Just that our plans have been pushed back. However this weekend I've noticed that I am feeling a bit up and down and hormonal and I'm finding it a bit sensitive when people I know in RL are announcing pregnancies and wanting to avoid being around tiny babies a bit. DH says it's hitting him a bit this weekend too. Mostly though I just feel impatient to be pregnant again!

My doctor wanted to wait two weeks and then check my HCG levels again. But I stopped bleeding relatively quickly and I am wondering if I can just get away with taking HPTs until they turn negative? I don't want to wait weeks and weeks for a period either.

Oh, I also have a DS aged 7 from a previous relationship :)

AmyB1986 · 30/04/2016 13:28

Thanks cheeky I take a supplement that has iron in it everyday so fingers crossed it shouldn't drop too low. Glad you found us as well.

JPEG I don't think that's unfair at all. My DH does no housework at all so I make him clean the kitchen. He cooks while I'm at work and don't get home till gone 8, walk in to a kitchen full of pots, crumbs and food packages everywhere. He has no excuse we have a dishwasher and a bloody bin!

On my 3rd maxi pad of the day. Seems to have slowed down a little bit but we'll see what happens when I start running at work!

redstrawberries101 · 30/04/2016 12:05

Good on you! Not unfair at all!!!

jpeg28 · 30/04/2016 12:02

Thanks cheeky I've now found the new thread!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I'm on cd9... Time to start dtd! My OH has been annoying me so much this week! I've got him cleaning the whole house today whilst I have my hair done! Possibly a bit unfair but I'm so fed up of spending my weekend cleaning after he has left it in a state all week!!

redstrawberries101 · 30/04/2016 11:58

Hi! I'm so glad to have found you eventually, thanks to the girls who PM'd me that was very kind. For some reason I was looking on the miscarriage board Sad I even created a new thread there and jpeg found me but I've posted to say come on over here now. It was all very traumatic looking for you guys and wondering how I was going to manage with the invaluable support I've had from you all!

How is everyone? Plans for bank holiday weekend? Amy that's not good about AF. Watch your iron levels as they can dip fast. My periods have changed since miscarriage but not as heavy as yours.

AmyB1986 · 30/04/2016 11:06

I've always had periods on the heavy side but it wasn't this bad last month although i did ov earlier this cycle making it a 27 day cycle, shortest ever cycle and was expecting a lighter af. Obviously my lining built up super quick which I guess is a good sign? It normally last 5 days with heavy to medium flow and a couple of days of spotting after.

I've looked on the nhs website and it says an average blood loss is about 30-40ml and heavy is classed as 60-80ml or more. If I use my mooncup I lose 80ml in the first two days but it overflows so I can't say that's accurate that's just what's in the cup and on the lighter days I lose 20ml a day. It says most of the time it's normal, seeing as I've always had heavier af's it doesn't seem to be that there's anything wrong. Damn you genetics! Feel for my poor dd's if they inherit this off me when they reach their teenage years (or 10 like me!)

HopefulKate1980 · 30/04/2016 10:58

Thanks IC

InsufficientlyCaffeinated · 30/04/2016 10:49

Not sure about the amount of blood but I read that a longer period of about 5 days is a healthier sign than shorter. Mine are now 3 heavy days since mc.

My first couple of periods after mc I had an overflowing mooncup in the morning. Still having some overflowing during the day but this period I was OK first thing.

Have pm'ed Cheeky. Don't know how she managed to squeeze a last message on, I tried to link through but it said closed to new messages. Might be a mn blip in the system on different devices!

HopefulKate1980 · 30/04/2016 10:44

Very ignorant question but does the amount you bleed indicate quality of eggs? Surely lots of blood is a good sign?!

AmyB1986 · 30/04/2016 10:35

Kate if you're on the app you can't pm but you can on the browser version.

This af is ridiculous! My mum used to have flooding so bad it ruined her bedroom carpet and to the point she had to put a towel down on the floor. Maybe it's a genetic thing but I can't cope with this. I've got to work later and I can't spend all of my shift in the toilet! I can't use tampons have to wear a pad as well as cuz it floods through both and my mooncup just doesn't have the capacity either. On a plus note I don't have any period pains.

HopefulKate1980 · 30/04/2016 10:19

I've never had that Amy no but since the MC, I've had to change tampons every hour on my first few days of AF. Make sure you are eating lots of iron! Hope you are ok.

Ha ha, It's DEFINTELY my month too IC. We are gonna nail it this month for sure... If not, im going to talk to my consultant about IVF.

I saw that *CheekychickSSS' posted on the old thread this morning saying she can't find us. Does anyone know how you direct message??

AmyB1986 · 30/04/2016 10:12

Morning everyone. Hope you're all ok.

IC in my area they say if you've been trying for over a year you should contact your gp if you're under 35, 35 and over its 6 months. If you can prove you've been timing intercourse in the fertile window they rush you through a bit faster. Some Drs suggest temping to confirm ovulation and timing as well.

Just wanted to ask a quick af question, may be a bit tmi but does anyone else have to run to the toilet as soon as they get out of bed to stop flooding? I had to run to the toilet at 7am before it overflowed my pad and then again at 9. Yesterday I had to change my pad from mid-day every 1-2 hours. For day one it was extremely heavy and even heavier today.

InsufficientlyCaffeinated · 30/04/2016 10:08

It really is terrible how little research and understanding there is around infertility and miscarriage.
Considering this is DEFINITELY my month I probably needn't worry about it...
But just in case I'll see the dr if this cycle isn't a success, my next thyroid function test is due in June anyway so it'll be a good time to go once I have the latest results

OP posts:
HopefulKate1980 · 30/04/2016 09:06

I'm not sure IC. A lot depends on what area you live in I think - I have low ovarian reserve but was told my area couldn't help me on the NHS. We've still got pregnant twice, but I think my MCs have been related to that... Not that anyone has ever said that. Infertility is like the Wild West of medicine - conflicting advice, lack of understanding, black holes of knowledge. Of course there are some amazing nurses and consultants but they don't truly understand infertility and miscarriage.

When should I start to worry and see a Dr about potential fertility problems? As of May which is nearly here I'll have been TTC for a year. Obviously conceived once which ended in my mc. Will my dr see this as a new conception effort, ie I've only been trying since my mc in Jan and should give it longer or will the whole time be taken in to account and be offered tests?
Yes I am worrying about whether I should be worried, my anxiety has gone meta!

I agree mrs. Good luck with the sexy marathon!!

I have woken up this morning and feel like I've been whacked round the head. Think I've got a bug. Better not harm our chances!!
