Hugh enjoys ISW and his love affair with Doreen. He watches out for skittle tits and weepyitis. Mrs Arseholey Fucknut (Af) shows up when you least want her but brings wine and soft cheese as a consolation prize.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind and well meaning but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly don't convince yourself you're pregnant in the tww That is paramount! It messes with your head and makes you crazy crazier

We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts. We want a fanny full of determined Doreen, not unicorn farts and gnome tears with extra sparkle. We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area.

Post your stats and add your dates. A more lovely, supportive group of ladies you couldn't wish to meet. We've got a few grads sticking around I won't leave and no question is too daft. We have opk experts, cervical mucus management teams and symptom spotters extraudinaire!

WE SHALL WIN IN THE GAME OF SPERM MEETS EGG! IT WILL HAPPEN!

I'm loosening up on all the avoiding caffeine, alcohol, everything that tastes good. I probably avoid soft cheese the week before AF but that's it. Month 7. Man I was naive to think it might happen month 1!!

My plan for May was de-stressing and lots of exercise, but a huge new stressful project has just been landed on our service...And I also stupidly volunteered for extra extra work. Fool!! On the other hand I'm excited about it, itll be good experience, and maybe it'll be a good distraction. But I'll be working two evenings, tired, and dtd may suffer...hmm Confused

Jem why not try natural supplement vitex agnus castus? Supposed to be excellent for pms symptoms and balancing out hormones. I don't really get bad pms, but the spots which I have been blessed with since coming off the pill seem to have calmed this month since I started taking it.

LovelyFishy · 29/04/2016 17:30

I've been doing that too Cthulhoo! I've drastically reduced my caffeine intake already, stopped taking ibuprofen, lowered my alcohol intake... I'm loosening up a bit now but it is a lot!

Cthulhoo · 29/04/2016 15:32

As I contemplate whether I'm having another coffee, I'm starting to feel philosophical. I probably missed that discussion in an earlier thread and I know that you had a similar discussion just a few days ago but I find shroedingering a rather apt term. I seem to be in this weird space where for most of the time I'm acting like I could be / am pregnant - little to no alcohol (I didn't even get properly drunk on my 40th birthday last weekend!), serious reduction of coffee, when I'm getting meds prescribed I'm checking, etc. ... whilst knowing full well that chances are slim I actually am pregnant.

I mean, right now the decision whether I'll have another coffee (I had a half-decaff/half-real this morning, a weak one-shot this noon) is taking up a substantial part of my already-fragile brain. Blush

Argh!

HepKestrel · 29/04/2016 14:40

muscle.... clearly muscle ;)

LovelyFishy · 29/04/2016 14:35

Just stood on the scales this morning and very grumpy. After 1 week of eating well and excersise up 1 and a half pounds!! Soooo not fair, so I'll be having a pina colafa tonight because why not! I start the next set of shifts on Sunday so no bank holiday for me. sigh

HepKestrel · 29/04/2016 13:36

yikes Kav thats awful. unfortunately i have heard other stories about doctors not believing how painful AF could be ??

anyway.

I am being healthy. Carrot cake with walnuts (for zinc), its healthy right ? right ?? 1 of my 5 a day surely Wink

sod it. its friday.

SuchaJem · 29/04/2016 13:36

Well blow me;

The use of mefenamic acid may impair female fertility and is not recommended in woman attempting to conceive. In woman who have difficulties conceiving or who are undergoing investigation of infertility, withdrawal of mefenamic acid should be considered.

Thanks kwick! Luckily I don't take very much - I took one during my last period. Will be abstaining from now on!

SuchaJem · 29/04/2016 13:11

Good god Kav that is horrendous Shock. No doctor should be saying things like that to anyone - but particularly at a university/student GP practise - you would think they would be the most clued up on contraceptives and dealing with young people's sexual health. Appalling.

Snowdog37 · 29/04/2016 11:51

kwick I have an appt with the RE on Thursday to discuss the finer details but my understanding is I'll be prescribed Clomid to take cd3-7, I'll have an ultrasound day 3 for baseline afc then again between days 7-10 to check on how many/sizes of follicles. I usually ovulate day 12 so they'll either let me o on my own or give me ovidrel (I think that's what it's called) to trigger ovulation. 36 hours approx after the trigger, dh and I will go to the clinic and he will do his thing, it'll be washed, then they'll do IUI. They've recommended We dtd the evening before I trigger and the evening after IUI. We can't do May cycle as I'm already day 3 and our appt isn't til next week. So this month is just about relaxing and losing some weight. If I get pg this cycle it'll be bloody typical. But obviously very welcome!

celizabe · 29/04/2016 10:51

Morning Ladies, everyone looking forward to the Bank Holiday?

Just wondered if anyone else struggles with temping? It's my first month doing it and mine are absolutely all over the place... I'm out by over .5 a degree some days. FF has me worried now as it says it could be a sign of delayed ovulation or not ovulating at all. I'm doing it at roughly the same time every day and doesn't seem to be any different if I do it under the arm. Haven't quite figured out how to do it foofily with the hubbie asleep beside me Smile Anyone been in a similar boat??

kavanaughkj · 29/04/2016 09:57

I used to take mefanamic acid for menstrual pains too, Jem - I found it only ever worked though if I took it in advance of the period coming. If I woke up and it had come during the night, the pills just bounced off the pain.

I eventually ended up stopping using it because of that - ran out of them in uni once and thought I'd request to go on the Pill instead as the mefanamic acid wasn't massively reliable for me - but then ended up encountering the world's shittiest doctor in the uni surgery who all but explicitly called me a whore for asking to go on the Pill. I was gobsmacked - it must have been a popular request for that surgery, students have sex after all! (though ironically I was still a virgin then and only needed it to control period pains) - but I was so young and bewildered back then I did nothing about it - today I'd have complained to the head practitioner or something. Total arsehole.

Anyway. sorry for the digression Confused. I'll be joining you later today I think Sky. No AF yet but she's imminent ... brown staining this morning when I wipe and my temp is lower for the 2nd day running. I just want her to hurry up and show so I can get her over with. At least I can have some wine this weekend. :)

SuchaJem · 29/04/2016 09:22

Sorry you're out sky hope your in laws are on good behaviour.

kwick Christ that had never occurred to me! I will check that as soon as I get my hands on the packet - thank you.

Kwick709 · 29/04/2016 09:15

suchajem can you do me a favour and read the leaflet with your M acid - any words about potential fertility impact? I only read small print on the pills I have been using for about 25 years (naxop somethingorother) and a side effect is fertility impact - so now I use paracetamol which is useless.

Sorry for all the AFs Flowers

snowdog what is your IUI protocol? Happy to field any questions :)

Kwick709 · 29/04/2016 09:04

kat and inspector sorry about AF Flowers

Kwick709 · 29/04/2016 08:59

twinkydink you are a good student - defo get a FRER if in doubt!
I was in Boots the other day waiting for a prescription and was in front of POASs - had to fight urge to bulk buy!!! Far too soon for that malarkey!

ipatches I know babybombs are horrid - but someone - sorry can never remember names... Not sure how I ever got a job in HR Hmm - said once on one of these threads that it may help to remember that there is no finite list of possible babies, that by someone else getting preggers does not lessen your chances any.
Oh and get off FB it is nasty!

snowdog do they have FRERs in USA? Or do you need me to ship some over?

SkyLucy · 29/04/2016 08:46

Ah I'm out Sad. Tested this morning (three days early, I know, I know....but 11 dpo so not ridiculous). Blindingly white BFN and now my tummy hurts, helloooo AF. Just in time for stressful day at work and tonight's influx of in-laws visiting for the bank holiday weekend! Shed a tear, chin up, off we go again. Fx for everyone else still in TWW limbo x

SuchaJem · 29/04/2016 08:33

pug my GP prescribed mefenemic acid for menstrual pain - it works an absolute treat.

moose I knowwwwww where are all our lovely BFPs?!!

Feefeefs · 29/04/2016 08:26

Sorry about AF snow. I was drinking heavily the tww before bfp! Was on holidays. Stopped as soon as I got it obv and can't think of anything more repulsive now

Mooseville · 29/04/2016 06:48

Oooh I'm totally with you girls on having a few drinks and treats during TTC. It's difficult enough without stopping your life completely. I don't think it can do any harm whilst it's a tiny bundle of cells.... obviousjy once the BFP is there, I'd be stopping and being careful!
I am trying to cut down this month though, but that is more to lose weight and get healthier than for TTC benefit!
Sorry to all those AF hit. Where's all the BFP's gone?????

bluebird3 · 28/04/2016 22:25

I didn't drink during the tww for the first few months then decided it was too hard expecting to be pregnant every month only to find I wasn't. Not a big drinker anyway so don't think it's a huge issue.

I have a blood test tomorrow. Not sure if it's the right cd to do it as its meant to be day 3 of cycle. I had light bleeding yesterday but then it reverted to spotting today. Will probably have full flow over the long weekend so don't know if I should have waited until Tuesday, but that might be too late? Af confuses me...Hmm

Pugmummy87 · 28/04/2016 21:44

I don't drink much anyway, just when I fancy it or if I know I'm going to be on a night out (and I'm not the designated driver or working the next day), so if a fancy a drink during the tww, I will.

AF is giving me horrid cramps, so I'm currently standing in the kitchen rocking my hips and deep breathing. I will ace labour hahaha.

Sorry to anyone else AF has got.

I think I will probably be needing a ticket for the June bus! Depending on how long this cycle wants to be.

SuchaJem · 28/04/2016 21:30

I'm drinking less but not giving up. This month for me is about being less stressed Halo

InspectorPenguin · 28/04/2016 20:17

Yep, I'm not giving up alcohol until a BFP either (and even then I'm sure I'll still have a little now and then). Life's too short and I just can't believe that it can be that much of an issue. Just think of all those people who get preggers without knowing and do all the 'wrong' things!

I've had three big nights this last couple of weeks and do feel a bit guilty, but more because I want to lose some weight and get fit enough to run some races not because I think it's had any effect on TTC.

Jem, ISW and bank holiday? Happy days. Get on it!

iPatches · 28/04/2016 20:01

Kat - sorry about AF.

Ever - I try to do the no-alcohol thing but I have guilt. But I'm CD23 and absolutely no symptoms - boobs are most disappointing - so I might call myself out early this month (AF due on Wed) and have a lovely bank holiday weekend of wine and strong coffee. Next month, definitely more alcohol throughout the month...the whole soft-drink thing certainly isn't helping. I do try to drink in moderation anyway but occasionally I do get a bit giggly...!

twinkydink · 28/04/2016 20:00

I think I only did no drinking in the TWW for the first cycle. I agree we have to give all the good stuff up for long enough I'm not doing it sooner than I need to.

I'm refusing to have any tests in until next week. I'm down for the 5th to test but because of my early ovulation ovia is saying AF is due on Sat and FF Is saying she is due on Monday so who knows! Really going to try and hold out till next Thursday but I think AF will be here by then!
