Thread for anyone TTC for over ten months. Please feel free to join us!

Took the liberty of starting a new thread (with what is obviously a brilliant piece of rhyme!) as I assume everyone else is sleeping peacefully right now :)

Great news about the SA Star, I'm not sure re timed intercourse, did the hospital give any advice? I would probably lean towards eod as they live for 2days +
I'm actually doing ok which is a surprise given how awful I felt on Monday. Still having moments of despair where it all feels impossible but overall just trying to get on with things. It is OTD tomorrow so will have to do another test and then call the hospital and I guess we then have a follow up to discuss our FET. We are trying to look at the FET as a continuation of this cycle which seems to be helping. And we are looking into a mini break which will be something to look forward to.

Hi ladies,

So after 4 months of proxeed we've done another SA and there's been an improvement in motility and morphology but the count has gone down! Before it was
count: 18mil/ml
Motility 18%
Morphology 2%

Now it's
Count 11mil/ml
Motility 39%
Morphology 4%
The lab now recommend ivf rather than icsi based on those results and on that basis I'm going to take this as an improvement!

Currently on cd5 and day 4 of taking Clomid. Had a baseline scan yesterday which was all fine and another on Monday which will be cd10. Has anyone here done Clomid/trigger/timed intercourse? If so, do you have any advice on when to have sex? Think I'm considering every day for three days starting on trigger day. But I wonder if my OH's low count means we should do eod. Hmm....

Sorry for the me post. Hope everyone's doing ok, or at least keeping reasonably up in the face of bad news. X

Thank you Maple and Star, I just kind of feel like 'when am I going to get a break?'
I get over one birth/pregnancy announcement and bang there's another one.
I feel especially sad as I saw my grandma at the weekend and her (undiagnosed) dementia has worsened and I'm scared by the time I have a great grandchild for her she won't know who I am.

Maple - I'm sure it is nothing , but get yourself a doctors appointment just to be safe. Your fertility appointment will be here in no time, but I understand it feels ages away right now. Do you have anything good planned to distract you?

Itsme - you will have to practise with a real needle , just no drugs. I was terrified but actually found it really easy!

Xx

Hi Molly and Geeup, sorry you find yourselves here but this is a lovely supportive thread full of people who understand and have lots of knowledge!

Geeup, I know you from the MF thread - seems we have the same issues. I have fibroids too but was told they are all on the outside of the uterus so shouldn't affect anything. Indeed, lots of the googling I did at the time they found them suggested that many people only find out they have fibroids at their pregnancy scans, so they really shouldn't stop us getting pregnant. I think the risk of miscarriage is slightly increased, but not sure.

Sorry for the baby bomb sammy. I agree, you're definitely not a bitch, just human and going through this crappy journey. Flowers

Banana, how are you doing? Have you had an update on your embryos? Hope they're all still going strong.

Trixie, really hope you are looking after yourself - I've been thinking about you.

MPP, congratulations on being a married woman!! Hope you're not reading this from honeymoon and put all thoughts about ttc (apart from the sex) out of your head! I would be very happy to read of a miracle honeymoon pregnancy when you get back :)

{waves to everyone else}

maplebaby · 31/05/2016 15:45

My mum can be really sweet and encouraging then come out with those comments so it's a bit hit and miss with her!

I finally have my appointment with the fertility nurse woop woop! Not until 1st July which means I wouldn't start clomid until the cycle after the appointment which is 24th July (around then) - bit sad it's a while away but equally glad I have a date and something to look forward to rather than being in limbo and waiting!

Itsme247 · 31/05/2016 14:43

My mum is beyond useless, she's one of 9 kids, as is my husband.

Not being able to have kids is not in my families comprehension. I feel bad though, she feels really useless!

I have no idea, I really hope so! I don't want the first time to actually inject myself be the one with the drugs in!

maplebaby · 31/05/2016 14:33

Itsme yes I hate the just relax "advice"!! My mum gives me that one Angry

Good luck for tomorrow! Do they make you practice with a real needle??

Itsme247 · 31/05/2016 14:12

Isnt it that 80 in 100 will fall pregnant within a year, then of the 20 only 8 won't have fallen pregnant within two years?

Its how I justify going through all the IVF - it's not something which trying harder or 'just relax, it'll happen' is going to fix.

I still get people saying 'oh it will happen when it's meant to' no, it won't. I have to make it happen ... I have done my two years of monthly hell checking my knickers thank you very much.

The day is looming, have my injection training tomorrow :)

Hello newbies, get cracking with tests/exploratorys but mostly keep on with dtd - with every cycle there is a chance :)

maplebaby · 31/05/2016 08:49

Sammy not a bitch, I often feel the same. I do wonder about the stat of 1 in 6 (or is is 8) people struggle to conceive - my FB is full of pregnancy announcements, birth announcement, bump photos etc although I guess they don't say if they struggled... It feels so unfair.

Molly good luck on your tww.

Gee hope you get your lap soon - waiting and being in limbo is so hard - I'm still waiting for my IUI letter / appointment! I'm sure your parents didn't mean to say that. My mum is the same, she knows what I'm going trough and will then say to my sister can you have a couple more please - as if they can be made on demand! Well done on everyday for 2 weeks!!

So AF finished on Thursday (and by that I mean the spotting I get after as it trails off! Yes I'm lucky and get spotting before AND after!) and dtd on Saturday and yesterday and both times I had some blood after... On Saturday it was brown so I though it was (tmi) remnants from AF but yesterday was more pinky Confused hope it's nothing..!

star1980 · 30/05/2016 18:40

Oh Trixie, I'm so so sorry. I can't believe it, I had a really good feeling about this cycle for you. Take good care of yourself and really hope you're feeling a bit better soon and can start looking forward to your fet. Good new you do t have to wait long.

loopylou1984 · 30/05/2016 17:25

Another weekend, another baby bomb. Why can all our friends conceive with no issues? It's so unfair. This one isn't maternal in the slightest and the father acts like a teenager when drinking.

I'm such a bitch. I'm not even happy for them.

Brenna24 · 30/05/2016 15:49

So sorry Trixie Flowers

maplebaby · 30/05/2016 15:27

Trixie I'm so so sorry Flowers big squeeze xxx

stealthbanana · 30/05/2016 14:43

trixie Flowers Thinking of you xx

lucieloos · 30/05/2016 13:52

Yes sorry banana I didn't mean that you shouldn't be doing it. Your doctor sounds ace and I'm sure he wouldn't do it if he thought there might be problems. I just meant that it's not widespread at the moment in that I've read of other women wanting it done but can't after they have been frozen and I don't think my clinic would offer it at the moment either.

bananafish81 · 30/05/2016 13:52

Absolutely agree lucie! More just trying to provide some reassurance that it's not quite as experimental as I certainly thought it was - I thought exactly the same as you. And I definitely wouldn't risk it unless the lab had lots of experience with it and had the data to show me the risks. I think we're in violent agreement xx

lucieloos · 30/05/2016 13:26

bananafish81 · 30/05/2016 12:28

Re the defrosting I know CRGH do it as a woman on FF had hers defrosted and tested before she had given permission!!!! Which is not a great advertisement for CRGH but it's apparently not just CARE that will thaw frosties for biopsy.

The embryologist said they now do it quite a lot for exactly the reasons we are doing it - people who didn't do it first time around, had a failed cycle or miscarriage and now want to test their untested frozen embryos.

They said euploid embryos generally DO survive the process, and their analysis now shows embryos that don't are almost always aneuploid. Obvs there is a risk and it depends on the lab and their experience with it. We wouldn't be doing it if they hadn't had experience with it - I wouldn't risk our frosties to be the guinea pigs

lucieloos · 30/05/2016 11:53

Yes could be worth giving 2 a go. I know not many clinics will defrost and test and then freeze again as they say it's too much stress on the embryos as you then need to defrost again for transfer. It's a relatively new thing I think and bananas clinic is the first I've heard of that does it. Wish things could be different for all of us. We've all been through so much now.

JustTrixie · 30/05/2016 11:46

Thanks ladies. Feel so so sad. Didn't get much sleep last night which doesn't help.

bananafish81 · 30/05/2016 10:57

Oh trixie - no words, just hugs. It's shit and cruel and so deeply deeply unfair. Thinking of you and DH xx

Pikz · 30/05/2016 10:55

Oh trixie I came on to see if there was news. Huge huge hugs xxx

JustTrixie · 30/05/2016 10:24

I know, we might contact our clinic and ask about getting our frosties there tested as it would be good to know how many are normal. I think we are going to transfer 2 for our NHS FET.

lucieloos · 30/05/2016 10:00

They all sound good. It would have been good if you could have done the genetic testing to find a normal one as would have given you a bit more info especially if it failed again.
