TTC following an ectopic pregnancy

Hi, My DH and I have been TTC for the last 8 months and finally found out I was pregnant before christmas. Since then I have been in hospital and have been treated for an ectopic pregnancy. I was given a hefty dose of Methotrexate which has made me feel rotten and should induce a miscarriage soon. We can't start TTC for 3 months now which is really hard to take as it took us a while the first time - but everything will have to be on hold until the summer now. Has anyone experienced this?

I need a moan myself - every time I open my emails, I get another baby announcement or someone phones to say they're pregnant. Another friend is on her third...

lissie · 11/07/2007 19:34

sorry for moaning, how are you? hows the ivf going?

lissie · 11/07/2007 19:24

bit rubbish tbh. my lil sis's lil sis is 20w pg, she's 15, doesnt know who the dad is, lives with a drug addict/dealer and she's having a little girl. why is everyone else moving on?!

cedar12 · 11/07/2007 10:47

Oh Lissie so sorry to hear about your mc. Wish I could say something to make it all better. Life is just so unfair for some people. Havent been posting as been away for a week.

Sad
lissie · 07/07/2007 09:34

tbh aitch, im almost numb to it now. did my ritual post-mc HPT yesterday and for 1 terrifying minute it looked like a bfp. im so scared of having another ep.

Aitch · 07/07/2007 09:18

oh dear, that's too many, not fair.

lissie · 05/07/2007 17:15

this is my 5th since noah was born and my 7th (at least) overall. i think you can get hormone treatment, seems odd that i mc at the 5-6w mark most of the time. think it may be linked to the group b strep too. theres a OBGyn in the us who has specialised in this and his findings are v interesting

Aitch · 05/07/2007 12:26

well, that's a decision only you can take, lis. it's the pits. do you mind me asking how many miscarriages you've had? wasn't there a news story last year about a drug to help people who seem to miscarry in the early stages?

lissie · 05/07/2007 07:36

thank you. i know it sounds odd but im almost numb to it now. starting to think i should just give up.

Aitch · 04/07/2007 23:18

oh no lissie, i am so very, very sad to hear this. what a nightmare.

Genidef · 04/07/2007 23:15

Lissie I'm so sorry to hear your news. I haven't been posting much but wanted to check in and see how you all were. Really sorry, thinking about you and...just wishing I could make it better somehow!

x

PE, thats so exciting! ive got awful ms, but am enjoying every vom filled moment!
genidef/aitch how are you doing? not seen you for ages!

cedar12 · 26/06/2007 08:46

Hi Gendief and pink elephant thanks good wishes. I ahve been having reflexology and drs are happy for me to continue until transfer. I have tried accupunture but didnt get on very well but I dont think the therapist I went to was very good.

Genidef · 25/06/2007 22:34

PinkElephant - let us know about the scan too!

Genidef · 25/06/2007 22:33

cedar good luck with IVF. Will be thinking of you - I am a big fan of accup by the way, might want to consider it...

AF arrived today...on the bright side...it means we can start trying again shortly! keeping chin up.

PinkElephant · 25/06/2007 14:04

well that's true. you increas your chances of getting one pg if you put two back, but if you get two you increase your chances of losing both pregnancies. i have another friend who lost one of her twins at 16 weeks, it made it very dangerous for the other baby and was a miracle she got out alive. difficult decision, cedar.

cedar12 · 25/06/2007 12:41

Would love twins but dr said there would be higher mc and complications etc and if you put 2 back more chance of one floating up the tube.

Aitch · 25/06/2007 12:38

i don't know anything aout ivf, really. my friend had two put in at 34 and came out with twins... is that something you could handle?
