TTC following an ectopic pregnancy

I;m ok, still feeling very rough, but have my scan next monday been to GP this morning, where I have been booked in at the better hosiptal rather than the one that sent me away when I went to A&E with the EP

that's outrageous, you ordered it ages ago. was it amazon? (and if you go to fertilityfriends.com or .co.uk you can get the free software so that you never have to understand how it all works. i certainly never did but i still temped successfully ).

Hello everyone just start to monitor my temp but the book which aitch recomended still hasnt arrived so I am a bit lost understand basic principle but how much should I expect it to go up by. When it goes up does it mean I have already ovulated or it is going to happen.
Pink elephant how are you? I am getting really nervous about hsg on wednesday I just hope ok for both of us. If my tube is blocked i think it will be ivf for us next Good luck for wednesday. You wont believe when the follow up appointment is for hsg 25 september I told them they can stick it. Hopefully one of the fertility nurse is going to look up results for me on friday if she can but looks like i will have to see the consultant privately.

oh, some people get bleeding from the actual cervix and it's not a big deal. there's a lot going on, lots of blood supplies being set up iykwim? i used to get small amounts of staining after sex, for example, but i knew that this was my cervix bleeding rather than anything internal iykwim?

I guess having as much info as possible is the best way to somehow gain control over that feeling of being completely and utterly exposed to everything. I will see how I feel and the moment I have pain in one side I will insist on a scan. The bleeding itself in not bad, just the worries and my history. There were moments in the last ten days where I had a glimpse of hope that this could be viable pregnancy, but most of the time I was just waiting to miscarry. Hasn't been a happy time at all. Will look up what cervical erosion is. That seems it could be connected with the cervical dammage I had. Thanks again -- I will let you know what it turns out to be.

well, the truth is that the docs like it to be 6 weeks because by then in a normal pregnancy you should be able to see a sac in the womb so they gt to rule out an ep and send you on your merry way.
what they are not telling you, however, is that it it's an ep you will often be able to see free fluid (blood, swelling etc) around the area where the affected tube is, which obbviously can give a good indication. because i was bleeding and in pain and because thanks to my two previous eps i only have on precious tube left i absolutely put my foot down and insisted that i was scanned. it was every two days from 4 and a half weeks and we saw a tiny glimmer of a sac inside the womb at about 5. but by that time i was already feeling that i wasn't in immediate danger of a rupture just because there was not free fluid, iykwim?
to be fair to the docs, you don't have clear-cut symptoms just yet (for example cervical erosion or implantation can give you the bleeding) so it's fair enough if that's their hospital policy. however, if i was you i'd be banging on about my surgical history and, er, fudging my dates...

i had a 5w scan with ds coz i was bleeding, and i lied about how many w i was. and we saw the scan in the womb. i also had a scan with my ep at 4+5 and didnt see anything, but its worth pushing for a scan

week 6 and that blood is the only thing you can do before. Aitch, what did the ysee in the scane at 5 weeks? Thanks again!

glimmer, it may be worth ringing nhs direct to see if they can get you an early scan, esp with your history. it may be implantation bleeding but with my ep the hormones were going up normally. best get any bleeding checked out.

99rb. am agree with aitch. at 9w you cant hang round with a suspected ep. you need to ring round hospitals and insist on being scanned!

with my first ectopic i had no pain, only bleeding (bright red then pink) but thaat was enough for my GP to recommend a scan at 5 weeks. he thought i was miscarrying, of course, although that didn't turn out to be the case. so it's worth speaking to your GP. i'm afraid i don't know what your acronyms mean but if you've had abdominal surgery your chances of EP do increase a little as there may be residual scar tissue.
however, i should also in the interests of fairness tell you that i bled similarly with my successful pregnancy so that was put down to implantation bleeding. so it oculd be anything...
if you are worried, it's always worth speaking to your GP. i hope everything is fine for you...

Just read my post and it sounds like I am overreacting?! I should definitely wait until I get pain, I might just have a normal mc. It's just that I have a bad feeling and so far each time I had it I unfortunately turned out to be right....Sorry if my post bothered anybody and good luck everybody!

I am sorry to turn to your advice on a TTC thread but as 99rb I am worried about having an ectopic. 99rb how are you doing today? I hope the pain has not gotten worse? I am very sorry to hear your story and hope very much everything will turn out fine. -- Here is my story: had two ERPCs and one cervical stenosis last year. Am again pregnant at 5 weeks only but had bleeding (very light spotting) everyday in the last 10 days. First red, then brown, now pink. No pain. Pgtest return every day with darker lines, so I assume hormones are going up. Am very concerned about the bleeding and have the distinct feeling that something is wrong (but obviouly I could be just overreacting). When can an ectopic typically be diagnosed? When were yours diagnosed? Should I wait until I get pain before seeing a GP? I have scheduld a private scan at week 6 but this is ten days away! I do not kow how I shall make it through this time....

My cervix was completely closed when I had my EP. Sounds like another useless hospital. Hope its not the same one.

but an internal is no way to rule out an ectopic, the only thing to do is a scan and serila beta hcgs. did they take any blood? can you phone round all your hospitals? if it is an ectopic, you really can't afford to hang around at 9 weeks pg. when on Monday are you off on holiday?

Well, going to A&E hasn't shown anything. They insisted they could not do a scan over the weekend and it would have to be done first thing on monday. They did an internal and my cervix is closed and it looks like not much bleeding has happened (phew). But the pain is still there. What will they do if things worsen tomorrow?? Surely they will have to do a scan then. Why must it wait till things have possibly gone too far? I'm so upset.

We can't find anywhere open this late in the day to do a private scan for us. So we've got to sit it out till Monday (and rearrange our travel arrangements).

The pain does subside after resting. What else could this be???

they can give you a drug that will end the pregnancy and hopefully the pregnancy will be reabsorbed into your body. it's called methotrexate, but not all hospitals offer it. or they can do a laporoscopic surgery. hopefully you are fine and ti's just pregnancy pains.

If this does turn out to be an EP, what can I expect at 9wks, if the tubes haven't ruptured what do they do to resolve it all?
