TTC following an ectopic pregnancy

Hi, My DH and I have been TTC for the last 8 months and finally found out I was pregnant before christmas. Since then I have been in hospital and have been treated for an ectopic pregnancy. I was given a hefty dose of Methotrexate which has made me feel rotten and should induce a miscarriage soon. We can't start TTC for 3 months now which is really hard to take as it took us a while the first time - but everything will have to be on hold until the summer now. Has anyone experienced this?

Sparkly

Lissie, I'm not sure if you do this or not, and I'm not sure if it really does make any difference or not, but I thought I'd pass this info on.

Do you take Zinc supplements aswell as Folic acid?

I didn't take this for my 1st or 4th pg's which both resulted in mc (blighted ovum -which is why I think there's something to this), but for my 2nd & 3rd I took zinc for about 2 months before we started ttc. Both DH and myself took these. It's supposed to promote healthy eggs and sperm, focussing on quality. We would each take 2 pills = 30mg zinc every day. I would take just one if I was taking pregnacare or a multivit that had zinc in it. We got the source from here

This is another informative link about men.

I also quite like this website and this one

Had a scan yesterday, saw the baby and heartbeat. It was laying on its back and looked all relaxed There is a pic on my profile.

PinkElephant · 12/04/2007 09:38

Just nipped in to see how everyone is. Lissie, sorry to hear your news Hope you are ok.

I am currently 10 weeks, and doing well.

Hope everyone is ok and I'll catch up soon.

PinkElephant · 12/04/2007 09:33

Oh lissie I'm so sorry for you as well. Its all so cruel that you have to go through this again and again.....I think sometimes you get to the stage where you just can't take anymore so maybe a break would be an idea. I don't know what to say but thinking of you.

Cedar - so glad to hear your good news from the HSG. That must be such a relief. I have my consultants appoint tomorrow, hope I'm going to be told to get on and try again.

So sorry Lissie. Lifes not fair

lissielou · 11/04/2007 16:32

go on hol at the end of may, so will wait til i get mt test results back before ttc again. i just ache now, every baby that ive lost hurts like crazy and i dont think my body can cope with much more. the last mc was vv painful considering i was only 4w

99redballoons · 11/04/2007 16:30

Oh god lissielou, I'm so sorry. hugs]]

You know how crazy and mixed up I was about everything a few weeks ago, well, since making the decision to have a break for a while I feel sooo much better. We ideally didn't want a Dec/Jan baby (though ofcourse would happily have one!) so whilst still waiting for my AF to arrive and the decision to not ttc till the summer, I feel a weight off my shoulders. My body is resting, not only from no more bf or pg (got pg two months after stopping bf my dd who was 11 month at the time), but no more stress/anxiety, I hope, for a little while.

So maybe having a break from all this would be good for you? Concentrate on dh and ds. Go away for a long weekend in May? Ofcourse I don't know all of your history and I'm sorry if I'm speaking out of turn. again

lissielou · 11/04/2007 10:29

its official, my bean has gone. dont know what to think or do but taking a break from ttc. cant believe this has happened again

99redballoons · 09/04/2007 18:41

That is on and off spotting between 4-7wks.

99redballoons · 09/04/2007 17:46

Hi lissie, what type of spotting? I had this with all four of my pgs (two successful) and it varied from brown discharge to red spotting. I know you automatically think the worst but one of my bf's 'bled' for the first 13wks in varying degrees, she even thought she miscarried, went for a scan at 6.5wks and found the heart beating v strong!

[[[hugs]] Fingers crossed for you.

cedar12 · 08/04/2007 08:45

Lissie I really hope this one holds on. Thinking of you.

AitchTwoOh · 08/04/2007 01:17

oh hell. i got spotting with dd as well as the others. i hope that it will work out for you this time. [hug]

Lullabunnyloo · 07/04/2007 17:05

{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}} for my lovely lissie

lissielouwithbunnyears · 07/04/2007 12:43

one of the characters suffered a corneal(sp) ep at 10w and had to have an emergancy hysterectomy. it was awful!

started spotting today, looks like yet another beanie didnt want to stay. got a bfp again on thurs night and af wasnt due til mon. so pissed off with this now! wtf is so awful about my womb? why dont my babies want to stay there!

sorry being v self-indulgant and wallowing a bit, but feel really bad about this, still feel sick etc, but know its going to end badly again.

99redballoons · 07/04/2007 11:23

cedar12 · 05/04/2007 08:25

Hi everyone finally got my hsg results my consultant phoned me yesterday. My remaining tube is open and he is going to follow me up in september. I really hope I am pg by then, dd starts school then I am really going to miss her
Pe I hope your cycle sorts it self out so you can start trying again. I am usually regular but had a really short cycle last month. They have been all over the place. How late are you? You never know you might have ov late!
Lissie Keep us up dated when are have the scan and Good Luck
Luby I hope everythings ok with you.

lissielouwithbunnyears · 04/04/2007 19:24

got to wait til af due date has gone then i have the direct line to EPAS/fertility clinic so i can get a v early scan, so fingers crossed!

PinkElephant · 04/04/2007 18:52

Lissie - I missed your news!!! Congrats!! When did all this happen? I know you must be really nervous.... sending you all the positive vibes I can. What happens next for you?

99rb - Glad you found someone to talk to - it really does help doesn't it. AF for me seems to have brewed and subsided, had one bit of spotting this morning and thats it. What an earth is happening - I'm usually as regular as clockwork We've been very careful as we aren't allowed to TTC until this last week and there's no way I could have ovulated on day 22 surely. Anyway I'm sure AF will arrive in true form and wake me up at 3am with the pains

Cedar - how are you honey? And luby - you too?
